News: Herrera vs. Mayfield this Saturday; Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel



Orange, CA (October 23) – Earlier today, Mauricio Herrera (18-2-0, 7 KOs) arrived with his team in New York. The junior welterweight is set to battle against World Boxing Organization (WBO) NABO Junior welterweight champion Karim Mayfield (16-0-1, 10 KOs) in a title defense fight at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York this Saturday, October 27. The 10-round bout will be televised live on HBO’s BOXING AFTER DARK® beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT as the co-feature to a special triple-header featuring WBC #1 welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme vs. Argentina’s Carlos Abregu in a 12-round welterweight war and Miguel Vasquez vs. Marvin Quintero.

The Herrera-Mayfield 10-round bout is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions in association with Thompson Boxing Promotions.

Doors open at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 27. The first undercard bout starts at 7:30 p.m. The live HBO Boxing After Dark telecast begins at 10:15 p.m.

PACO VALCARCEL ELECTED PRESIDENT AT THE 25TH ANNUAL CONVENTION WBO SILVER JUBILEE AND ELECTION IN HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA

HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA- Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel was re elected as president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) today at the 25th Annual Convention WBO Silver Jubilee and Election that will take place this week at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and it will be broadcast live on www.wboboxing.com.

Valcarcel won by unanimity for another term in front of the WBO. For the 1st Vice President was elected John Duggan, 2nd Vice President Jacynth Bryan-Labega, 3rd Vice President Rudy Paz and 4th Vice President Rolando Marcos Hermoso.

As International Comissioner was elected Luis Perez, as Treasurer Adolfo Flores Monge, and for the Executive Committee were elected Rafael Lopez Santos, Igor Mazurov, Markus Aslani and John Handelaar.

WBO recognized the career of famous promoter Don King naming him as the All Time Greatest Promoter. King came to the Convention to receive the tribute and a plate.
