By Dwight Chittenden: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 50 KO’s) defends against one of the harder punchers in the heavyweight division in 32-year-old Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s) on November 10th at the O2 World Arena, in Hamburg, Germany. Wach’s KO percentage isn’t all that high, but you have to remember that he didn’t really learn to punch properly until three years ago. Before that, Wach was more of a diamond in the rough and was throwing wild looping right hands that were more like wallops than punches.

Since learning how to throw straight shots, Wach has knocked out his last seven opponents and he’s definitely one of the more dangerous punchers in the division now. Wach has the perfect guy for him to knockout in Wladimir, who has a chin that isn’t exactly solid. He can definitely be hurt. Wladimir’s former trainer Emanuel Steward did a great job in teaching Wladimir how to protect his weak chin, and a lot of credit has to be given to Steward for the excellent he’s done with him. Wladimir’s record with Steward was 16-1, and that’s superb.

However, Wach hits hard enough to where if Wladimir makes even the slightest mistake with his defense he can get knocked out in this fight. Wladimir perhaps is aware of that which is why he’s hired the best sparring partners to get him ready for this fight. One of his sparring partners is unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder, who is one of the biggest punchers in the game today. If Wladimir isn’t prepared to beat Wach after weeks of sparring the likes of Wilder than I don’t what you can do for him.

Wladimir has to make sure that he doesn’t get hit with Wach’s right hand in this fight. He can’t let Wach tee off on him with one of those shots because Wladimir can’t take those punches without getting badly hurt.
