Keane Back In Action

Walsall boxer Chris Keane returns to action next Saturday, 7th September.

The Midlands Area Cruiserweight King (10-1) will compete in a four-round contest against Lithuanian Remigijus Ziausys (20-51-4) on the undercard of Jason Welborn versus Max Maxwell for the British Masters Light Middleweight Title at Walsall Town Hall.

Keane is no stranger to Ziausys, having already faced him in the pro ranks. The pair went toe-to-toe over six rounds at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in March 2012. Keane won a unanimous point decision on that occasion (50-54) and is confident of a similar outcome this time around.

“I’ve beaten him once and I’ll be looking to do the same again this time,” Keane told www.uko-boxing.com. “He’s an experienced fighter who knows how to handle himself.”

Welborn and Maxwell compete for the British Masters Light Middleweight Title at the top of the EJKO’s Boys From The Black Country: The Aftermath’ show, which features a host of local fighters.

Stafford’s Rob Hunt faces Birmingham’s Andrew Patterson whilst  Stoke lightweight, Kevin Hanks takes on evergreen Sid Razak and unbeaten light welterweight prospect, Luke Paddock, will enjoy a hometown work-out against vastly experienced Nuneaton scrapper, Kristian Laight.

Tipton-born welterweight Anthony Tildesley makes his professional bow against durable South African Bheki Moyo whilst fellow youngster, West Bromwich welterweight Tom Stokes, takes on Tamworth veteran, Matt Seawright.

Tipton featherweight, Lee Glover, takes on Pavels Senkovs for a second time. The ‘Tipton Slasher’ defeated the Latvian on points back in 2010 and will be expecting a similar result when he steps back into the ring for the first time following a near two-year absence.

Impressive Wolverhampton super-featherweight prospect, Des Bowater, completes the card by stepping in with Chichester’s Jonathan Fry.

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 Ringside, are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.
