Male & James Face-Off In Eliminator

Cradley’s Chris Male and Coventry’s Troy James are set to go head to head for a shot at the British Super Featherweight Title.

The Midlands pair meet in a Final Eliminator at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill – Dudley, on Saturday, 14th September in what is an intriguing contest between two well-matched opponents.

30 year-old Male (12-1) retired from the sport following a points loss to Leeds’ Josh Warrington for the vacant English title back in November 2012 but made a u-turn soon after. His last outing was a convincing points victory over durable Slovakian, Elemir Rafael, in May

James (14-2), who has appeared in Prizefighter and fought Terry Flannigan for the English strap last year, goes into the contest on the back of two victories in 2013. ‘Terrifying Troy’ defeated Ivan Godor on points back in May before claiming a similar victory over ‘Gypsy Boy’ Billy Smith, who sadly took his own life earlier this week.

Wales’ Gary Buckland (27-2) is the current British Super Featherweight Champion but he puts the belt on the line next month when he takes on Liverpool’s Stephen ‘Swifty’ Smith (16-1). The victor of that contest, which takes place in Cardiff on 17th August, will face the winner of Male and James later in the year.

“Becoming a British Champion is what I’ve always wanted,” Male told www.uko-boxing.com. “If I can get Troy out the way, I’m one step closer to that goal.”

“It’s a massive night for me,” added James. “I’ll be attacking this fight, but no question I have to be on my toes. There will be fireworks and plenty of non-stop action all the way through.”

Dudley’s undefeated light-middleweight, Kyle Spencer (6-0), Stourbridge’s former Midlands Area Welterweight Champion, Steven Pearce (7-2), and Gornal prospect Lance Brooks (2-0) all feature on the undercard of EJKO’s show.

The format of the evening is a Boxing Dinner Show. Tickets are priced at £55 to include a sumptuous three-course meal. VIP Ringside tables (of ten) are available at £100 per person to include a three-course meal and complimentary bottles of wine. British Lightweight Champion, Martin Gethin, and former British Welterweight Champion, Young Mutley, will both be present in VIP.

Tickets can be purchased by calling either 07780 505 743 or 07581 131 745.
