Murray and Quigg to host boxing workshops

FIGHT fans will be given the chance to learn from the best next month as Martin Murray and Scott Quigg are hosting skills workshops at Hatton Health and Fitness in Hyde.

During the three hour sessions, the undefeated boxers will demonstrate various skills and provide tips which will help participants to improve both their technique and fitness.

Quigg, the reigning British and WBA-interim super-bantamweight champion, gets things underway at 12pm on Saturday March 2.

Then on March 30, Martin Murray will be taking time out from his busy training schedule to host a Hatton Academy of his own.

Martin is currently preparing for the biggest fight of his life – a world middleweight title clash with Sergio Martinez in Argentina on April 27.

“I’m very proud to be one of the first boxers to host the course. It’s great to be able to help people and I’m massively looking forward to the day,” Scott Quigg said.

“I think it’s a chance for me to meet the fans and give something back.

“There’s a lot of people out there who have never boxed before so they might be a bit apprehensive, but there’s no need for them to be.

“This allows people to come along, get fit and have some fun.

“If we can get more and more people interested in boxing it can only be good for the sport.”

Martin Murray said: “I like teaching boxing. I’m currently doing my ABA coaching courses and I like speaking to passionate people and showing them what it takes to be a professional boxer.

“I feel very humbled and privileged that people want to come and have a session with me. I’m going to put 100 per cent into it.

“Hopefully I can pass on a bit of knowledge and help them with their own training techniques.”

On completion of the workshop, those taking part will be able to socialise with the boxers and obtain autographs and photos.

Each of the workshops are priced at £60+VAT and further information can be obtained by emailing info@hattonacademy.com or by calling 01253 392802.
