Slugtoberfest undercard bouts detailed

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – More bouts were added to the SectionLive and Two Fist Promotions’ professional boxing event Slugtoberfest, making October 26th a night packed with excitement. Junior lightweight pro boxer Vincent Jennings is from Grand Rapids, MI., and currently has two wins zero losses and one draw. Jennings will be competing against Anthony Molson, from Nashville, MI., who has one win and two losses thus far in his professional career. Molson claimed the Golden Gloves State Championship in 1994, while Jennings claimed it recently in 2012.

Jennings stated “I thank God I get to do something I love to do and I don’t have to wake up and complain every day. I’m truly blessed!” “All I have to say is come see what happens when old school clashes with new school,” said Molson. Jennings countered with “This fight can change my life; I’m fighting on the card with guys I knew for a long time so it feels like home.” More competition continues with the junior middleweight bout between Antonio Urista of St. Johns, MI., and Robert Mills of St. Joseph, MO. Urista has one win and zero losses.

Mills’ professional debut will be at the event, giving him zero wins and zero losses. “I spoke with Mills about the guy he is fighting (Antonio Urista)” said Earl Walker, trainer for Robert Mills. “We know it will be a tough fight. We are looking forward to execute a plan to victory. He is coming to give Antonio all he can handle.” It seems that the excitement of the bout card and the location of the event are common feelings among the athletes participating at Slugtoberfest.

“I’m very excited to be on this show,” said Urista. “Grand Rapids has a lot of boxing fans and there’s a lot of talent on this card. It’s an honor to fight with these men.” Urista also added about his fight “As for my opponent, I wish him the best of luck because he’s going to need it. I’ve been training really hard for this and I’m not going to let anyone get in the way of my victory Saturday night.” The next undercard bout announced is between Caleb “True Grit” Grummet, of Lake Odessa, MI and Karinn Davis of Jackson, MI at cruiserweight. Grummet has three wins, three losses and one draw in his professional career. Grummet has a full resume. He is not only a professional boxer but also a pro MMA fighter. Grummet has acted in a fight on the television series Low Winter Sun which is set and filmed in Detroit, MI., and he is a wrestling coach at Olivet College and helps train the school’s NCBA boxing team. “I’m ultra-excited to be a part of such an amazing show.” said Gummet.

“The energy will be motivational. I’m primed and ready to lay down some leather in Grand Rapids for a home town crowd.” He added further “I’m thanking my training partners at MGGA (Michigan Golden Gloves Association Boxing Gym in Grand Rapids) and my coaches Troy Rowland and Jamie Stevenson.” Karinn Davis has one win and three losses in his professional career. “I’m thankful to be fighting on such a big boxing card with three future boxing champions; Purnell, Jordan, and Johnny,” said Davis.

“My focus is on Grummet, I know he has competed against tough opponents and I know he’s a tough fighter himself.” “That’s what I like. To fight tough guys, win, lose or draw, I’m coming to fight!” Davis further added “I want to say thanks to Mr Shimmell (Dennis Shimmell Sr of Two Fists Promotions) and Grand Rapids. God Bless and see you at the fights.” Jordan Shimmell, Johnny Garcia and Purnell “knock you out” Gates will also be competing during Slugtoberfest at The DeltaPlex Arena on October 26 for their chance at United States Boxing Organization (USBO) titles in their respective weight divisions.
