Ford Brothers Ink 3 year deal with Smithy’s Promotions

Twin brothers Tom and John Ford, who hail from Thailand but have been living and fighting out of Western Australia, have signed a 3 year deal with Brendon Smith of Smithy’s Promotions.

John Ford (Singphayak Kokietgym) 6W(5KO) 3L 1D junior welterweight and Tom Ford (Singsiam Kokietgym) 7W(7KO) 2L 2D lightweight have been living and training in Western Australia since moving to Australia a few years ago, under the tutelage of legendary trainer Les Wilson and his assistant Johnny Green. Since then they have each earned a stack of wins including a KO of previously undefeated Brandon Ogilvie and a Technical draw against Todd Kidd for the WBC Eurasia title for John and two draws with Victorian powerhouse Matthew Lytwynenko for Tom.

Les, who is well known for training heavy weight legend “Aussie” Joe Bugner plus many other national and international champions, has been building the brothers since they linked with him after previously being self taught. However, after deciding to move back to the Gold Coast to take a break from the game and look after his wife’s ill health, Wilson approached Brendon Smith, feeling he was the right man to continue building the career of the rising brothers.

“I am very honoured that Les approached me to train and manage the Ford brothers,” said Smith.

“I have a lot of respect for Les as a trainer he cares about his fighters a lot. I can confirm the boys have signed a 3 year training and management deal with Smithy’s promotions. I am excited to continue building the career of the Ford brother’s and helping them achieve their goals. They will be a great asset to our team, I have spoke to our current fighters who are also all excited to add the Ford brother’s to our growing stable.”

John Ford has one more fight each under Les Wilson on June 19, after which the pair will move to Toowoomba. They will be officially welcomed and introduced to the Toowoomba community on July 4 at “Smithy Brings the big fights 7″ at Rumours International, headlined by the much anticipated rematch of Michael Katsidis “The Great” and Graham “Duke of” Earl for the WBU junior welterweight world title.
