World title chasing Ghanaian boxer, Theophilus Tetteh gets the chance to edge closer to his childhood dreams when he faces Rhys Pagan of Scotland in a final eliminator for the Commonwealth Light Middleweight title on September 21.

Tetteh, a former WBO interim Africa champion last fought when he defeated compatriot Ishmael Tetteh in Accra on December 20 last year to win the WBO Africa Junior Middleweight belt itself.

Now he gets the opportunity to announce himself to the world before a UK audience against the 21 year old Pagan at the Miners Welfare Club, Cleland, Scotland on a Prospect Boxing Promotions bill on the night of Ghana’s Founder’s Day.

“This is the chance I have been looking for in a long time, this is an opportunity of a lifetime and I’m not going to let it slip. I am training very hard and I also believe my experience of fighting in the UK in the past will help me,” Tetteh said when EastSide Boxing caught up with him in training.

Tetteh lost his two previous fights in the UK, losing on points to Lee Purdy in London before suffering his only career knockout loss to Gregorz Proska on September 10 and November 6, 2010 respectively. But the Ghanaian has remained unbeaten in 7 fights since, claiming both the Interim and the WBO Africa Light Middleweight titles along the way of course.

Now he takes a crack at another British boxer in the UK with a chance to next fight for the British Empire title on offer.

“I can’t wait to fight for the Commonwealth title because I am sure it will push my rankings up and possibly get me a world title shot after one or two successful defences. I am working hard and I promise to win this eliminator,” Tetteh said.

He added, full of gratitude: “I thank my manager and coach for working hard to get me this chance and I promise not to let them down. I appeal to my fans to also keep on supporting me with their prayers.”
