Lara may pull a Cintron and Box Plodding Angulos Ears off…Posted April 5, 2013 1:29 pm
Angulo-Lara is probably one of the best match-ups we’ll see this year. Tough one to call because I am certain that Lara can outbox Angulo. But I am also certain that Angulo can outpunch Lara. I mean, Angulo hurts! But I’ll take Angulo in this one. He’ll have Lara hugging and backing up for at least half the fight. Angulo by UD. As for Maidana Lopez, I like Maidana. I’ve been impressed with the changes I”ve seen in Maidana’s defense since his move to welterweight. Technically, Maidana has been demonstrating crisper, and more consistent and accurate punching. However, he still lapses into his old brawler style a little more than to my liking. But I like Maidana in this one in a very close fight and I expect him to drop and/or stun Lopez on at least one occasion. Maidana by SD.Posted April 5, 2013 11:26 am
Thanks Low Blow. That Silva kid was only 20 years old and gave Angulo pure hell. With the right team that kid can go far in the business; however, the fact that they threw him in there with Angulo so fast is a sign that his ream isn’t that great. I actually would like to see that kid fight Canelo one day, but he showed too much against Angulo, so GBP will not allow that fight ever!Posted April 4, 2013 6:57 pm

i agree that Lara will experience a form of “culture shock” v. the strong and rugged Angulo who doesn’t win rounds, just Fights. he severely underestimated Kirkland who DID survive Angulo’s early fireworks to eventually dominate their bout. otherwise and IMO, Cuban fighters are finely-tuned machines not suited for off-roading and Angulo is all bumpy ride for 12 rounds. a clash of styles that i think Angulo wins in the middle rounds.Posted April 4, 2013 4:50 pm
Good quality card,well done.Posted April 4, 2013 4:48 pm
Maidana/Lopez is sure to be entertaining, but I’m most interested in Lara/Angulo. It seems that most are predicting Lara to outbox Angulo, but Angulo doesn’t take no for an answer and I think he will eventually catch up to Lara. Lara has yet to face anybody as strong and rugged as Angulo and I think he is in for a surprise. I’ve always said that Angulo can be beat, but you better pack a lunch because it won’t be easy. I’m picking Angulo in this one. Who was that young kid that Angulo fought in his last fight? That kid was damn good and I want to see more of him.Posted April 4, 2013 4:00 pm
i see Angulo steamrolling over the delicate and fragile Lara who will be backpedaling for his boxing life the entire fight. Maidana is always a tough customer although i wonder why his own ringwear is never cited as a factor in his bouts(?). anyway, Josesito is plenty game but i still don’t have an accurate bead regarding his actual status in the rankings. in fact, both of these matchups will answer some important questions about all of the fighters involved. winner passes “GO” and collects additional paydays. “loser” doesn’t pass “GO” or collect additional paydays and loses their place in line . . . tough business this Boxing.Posted April 4, 2013 3:39 pm
What an awesome card! Golden Boy is going to have to keep putting together cards like this now that Showtime is their only option for getting them aired.Posted April 4, 2013 9:21 am
