It was a Unanimous Decision, not even close… DelaFishnets was so bent out of shape after that Marathon Run, he dumped his Mexican Girlfriend, Married a Boriqua, moved to Puerto Rico and never looked Back… He wanted some of what Made Tito Trinidad Great…Posted April 8, 2013 4:41 pm
3 Very Experienced Vegas Judges, The Pro Delahoya Crowd that was Boooing him for running, Fernando Vargas a fellow Mexican and the Entire Boxing World agreed that only Tito Trinidad came to fight. DelaRunner came to Survive and run.. He back peddled for the first 6 rounds then flat out Ran for the Second half.. Fernando Vargas, a Fellow Mexican said it best at the end of the fight when asked how he tought Delahoya did “He’s not a real Mexican because Real Mexicans don’t run” and as we all saw Delahoya not once backed up Tito or hurt Tito.. he just Ran for his life.. Delarunner was never the same after that shameful display of Cowardness.. he went on to lose twice to Mosely, Sturm, Quartey, Paquiao, Old Hopkins etc etc…Posted April 8, 2013 4:39 pm
I had Oscar beating Tito 6 rounds to 3 after 9 rounds… He gave away his tremendous lead in the last 3 rounds by running. In the 12th round the running became excessive and the crowd was booing Oscar loudly. I thought the referee would stop the action and take a point from Oscar for running, or at least warn him. Even all the HBO commentators were pissed and thought Oscar was blowing it.
A judge is also free to score a 10-8 round in that situation, but none of them did. Tito banged several big rights off DLH in the 12th that put a big bruse on and about Oscar’s left eye, so Tito had a pretty big round anyway. Excessive running is a foul. It’s a fight not a track meet.
Two of the judges did a good job — but Jerry Roth gave Trinidad a couple of Oscar rounds and vice versa. His card utterly made no sense. Especially giving the 12th round to De La Hoya when everyone in the building knew Trinidad won that round. He had no good explanation except to say, “I blew it that round.”Posted April 6, 2013 5:18 pm
no less a boxing legend than Gil Clancy and longtime trainer Alcaraz were demanding that DLH “box! box!” those last few rounds. nor were they objecting to DLH’s performance between rounds. DLH was nothing if not a disciplined fighter in those days. sticking to his fight-plan as prescribed by his trainers. even so, DLH’s backpedaling only exposed Trinidud’s inability to walk DLH down like the truly great punchers of Boxing. instead, he lapsed into a flailing, befuddled, and bedeviled amateur unable to fight forward or backward v. a skilled boxer, i.e., “The Blueprint”. it was a Robbery, all-right. in “DLH’s backyard” no less. although, i’ve always maintained that phrase was created to taint in advance any scorecard nods for DLH in Vegas.Posted April 6, 2013 11:18 am
I agree 100% ODH did beat Trinidad. First 8 rounds definately belonged to Oscar as Tito did nothing and backpeddling the last four still doesn’t justify giving the fight to Tito.Posted April 6, 2013 2:34 am
Oscar was easily out-boxing Trinidad until fear consumed him, or what ever you call it. Oscar won at least the first 7, but paid the price in a night of humiliation. Oscar made up for it when he beat down the juicing Vargas.Posted April 6, 2013 1:30 am
Don’t listen to Fishnets.Posted April 6, 2013 12:26 am
Correction: Peej – Stop the day dreaming.. Vegas was Oscars town, all three very experienced Vegas Judges, All Veterans gave Tito Trinidad 8 rounds and Oscar got 4 maybe.. LOL it was shameful.. as Fernando Vargas pointed out.. “HE’s not a real Mexican because REAL Mexicans DON’T RuN!” and it looked like everyone there agreed with him..Posted April 5, 2013 9:40 pm
Peej – Stop the day dreaming.. Vegas was Oscars town, all three very experienced Vegas Judges, All Veterans gave Tito Trinidad 8 rounds and Oscar got 8 because not once did he engage, hurt or back up Tito Trinidad.. all he did was a Marathon run.. Oscar was on Survival Mode all night long.. and the 3 Vegas Judges, the Booing Pro Oscar Crowd and Fellow Mexican Fernando Vargas thought Oscar came to survive not fight…Posted April 5, 2013 9:38 pm
Oscar beat Trinidad for 8 rounds then lost the last four cause he back peddled. He should of easily got the decision but he also back peddled which costed him. And if I’m not mistaken Tito hit Oscar when the ref was breaking them on 2 or 3 different times. I remembering Oscar shaking his head and smilingPosted April 5, 2013 6:00 pm
He never got robbed vs Trinidad, he back peddled for the first half then ran for his life t he second half.. it was a Unanimous decision from all three Judges.. Even fellow Mexican Vargas agreed that Tito Trinidad won because as Vargas said of Delahoya “He’s not a real Mexican, real Mexicans do not run” and that was at the fight that night…Posted April 5, 2013 5:52 pm
Anonymous, good point! I loved watching Quartey, but he was robbed all those times. Damn shame because he deserved those wins.Posted April 5, 2013 5:38 pm
Public Emeny I agree he got a gift but does that mean he should get robbed by the judges in the Mosley and Trinidad fights ? If so than Mayweather should have been robbed in Castillo 2 or when he fought Cotto, I mean a Shot Cotto did win 5 rounds against MayweatherPosted April 5, 2013 4:01 pm
Delahoya easily lost to Felix Sturm and was given a clear Gift Decision as well.. Even Delafishnets couldn’t believe he got the win…Posted April 5, 2013 2:23 pm
Seriously cannot remember a guy getting screwed more than Quartey….Lopez,Oscar,Vargas then hiatus from boxing only to be screwed once again by Forrest…That guy should never have fought in the US…Posted April 5, 2013 1:49 pm
Roid Mosley got beat easy by Oscar in their first fight, as usual there were horrible judges who gave the fight to Mosley, Mosley knew he got beat an used roids to fight Oscar again. Just Sayin u know who Canelo is its the guy you came here to write about lol, yeah that Canelo u took time to write about him u know who he is lol.Posted April 5, 2013 1:47 pm

The Low Blow !
Jose Luis Lopez was a very underrated fighter !Posted April 5, 2013 1:15 am
Obviously you are wrong Miatestomper … Only mexican and mexican american fighter are cheaters. Mosley, Trinidad, BHop, Floyd, Cotto, Broner are 100% clean, they only take salmon oil capsules.Posted April 4, 2013 11:55 pm
De La Hoya said, “This reminds me when I beat Ike Quartey. Although I did have all the admirers and the fans, I needed that one win to solidify me as a great champion.”
Not really… Ike Quartey looked terrible in his previous fight with Jose Luis Lopez where he almost got knocked out. Oscar saw Ike as a soft chinned and attractive opponent who couldn’t box. Fernando Vargas easily out-boxed Quartey—who had a lot of stance issues. Trout vs Alvarez feels more like the first De La Hoya vs Mosley fight. After whipping Oscar, Mosley became a super star until he mixed with Vernon Forrest. Most fans wanted Oscar to fight Forrest, fight a rematch with Trinidad, or fight Winky Wright. Naturally, none of those fights ever happened.Posted April 4, 2013 11:17 pm
