Rest in peace champ. Carl “The Truth” Williams was an old schooled top fighter who not always got the credit he deserved from fans and critics but he was a fine heavyweight contender. Sad day for the boxing world

@Terri. I can see your point. But do you think the klits could fight well against the warriors of the late 80′s early 90′s in their prime? I mean guys like Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Even Lennox in his prime? Even Foreman in the late 80′s early 90′s? Just want your opinion friend

I always admired how Carl when asked right after the fight if he thought Larry Holmes deserved the verdict and he said ‘yes he did.’ Esophageal cancer is pretty much as bad as getting Pancreatic Cancer because it’s usually discovered late stage.

Murderman I did not say I did not respect your opinion, but in you previous comment you said, quote It takes skills, heart, and intelligence not just size and strength, you see you said that kilt has only size and strength.
Read what toy wrote, I say Wlad has heart, he got up off the floor 3 times against Sanders, 3 times ,he did not give up. Against the ross Purity he just ran out of gas, he underestimated the guy had a real chin, and against Brewster he got up but the ref stopped the fight at the end of the round and Wlad did beat Brewster on their rematch.
Wlad has learned he has not the best chin and has tweaked his style to 15 straight wins. Lets get real all the champs have been deck before including Ali against a guy who weighed 205 pounds and Holmes lost to a Cruiserweight 2 times. When Foreman won the heavyweight title his 2nd time it was to another Cruiserweight. Lets all wake up and give these Klits there just due

Expectations were high for Williams after he fought Holmes but Williams never lived up to them.

Need to wipe my Tark again

This thread is about the loss of a good man, not to discuss the Klitschko’s. Have some respect.

didnt say he doesnt have skills. he just doesnt have the heart. see corey sanders, lamont brewster, ross purity. he has all the skill. i question his grit! vitaly has it. not sure if vlad does! but i respect your opinion. RESPECT MINE

Murderman to say the Klits have no skill is ridiculous. Wlad was not a gold medalist for nothing. I am telling you Bowe gets beat by both Klit brothers’
I like holmes but I see both brothers beating Holmes, I see Vitali beating Tyson. Both brothers beat Holyfield. I am telling you Bowe and Holyfield were not as good as you want to believe.

One of the last great heavy weights! They dont make em like him no more! Todays heavies can learn alot from the warriors of yester year! The Klischco’s are good boxers but would be able to compete w the cats in the late 80′s early 90′s! Holmes, Tyson, Holifield, Bowe, Even Lewis in his prime. All of these cat’s in they prime beat them. It takes skills, heart, and intelligence not just size and strength

So sad, he was a good contender. The sort that puts most of todays contenders to shame. Great jab, good mover, good conditioning, good boxer.

What? This is sad news! Rest in Peace Truth! I remember that Holmes fight–lots of shoulder rolling and little footwork used–fast paced chess match.

Fight Aficionado

RIP Carl Williams. I always thought that KO1 was way premature vs Mike. He gave Morrison a good scrap before getting caught with a hellacial hook. A solid heavyweight if never a champ. These are the type of boxers the sport needs more of.
