RIGO IS THE HYPOPOTAMUS RUNNING BOXER, HE IS THE MOST BORING BOXER OF ALL TIME

Posted April 19, 2013 4:24 am

Boxtradamus

I REPEAT Rigo is the 2nd BEST Boxer in the Sport. He’s BETTER than Ward and he’s BETTER than Broner as he SHOULD be as he’s 32 yrs old while Ward and Broner are 29 and 23. Broner improves at the speed of LIGHTNING though SO he might Top where Rigo is NOW in about 2 years or LESS.

“P4P rankings are crap. Just like YOU”-Exactly. Which means that they’re not crap at all. They’re part of the reason that I’m a 95% WINNER and you’re NOT.

“No he ISN’T.”-YES he IS. Go get you an eye for Boxing. Rigo is the BEST southpaw in the ENTIRE Sport of Boxing and he showed it Saturday night. His Boxing SKILLS are SUBLIME and his Boxing IQ is SUPREME. He followed MY advice to the TEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! And that shows his High Boxing IQ. The guy could supplant Floyd on SKILLS depending on Floyd’s next performance vs the 4th BEST southpaw in the Sport. Floyd’s going to need a VIRTUOSO performance to Top Rigo. Rigo just BLITZED the 4th BEST Orrhodox Fighter in the Sport.

I don’t think it is a dominant performance at all. It is a boxing clinic though. Pac-Cotto, Pac-Hatton, Floyd-Mosley, Floyd-Gatti are dominant performances. Not Rigo’s win over Donaire.

Nothing to be amazed of Rigon the joke performanced. Not even close to fighters that i really love to watch like R. Marquez/I. Vasquez, and Arce. Rogo, Fraudfloyd, Wilfredo Vasquez, Calderon can be in one group of marathoneer.

“Nope. I predicted that IF Rigo took MY advice he would WIN. I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!!” You also said that Donaire would win and you never changed your choice. You may have suggested what Rigo needed to do to win but you NEVER changed your mind after you picked Donaire to win. Why? Because he was fighting a “0 P4P” Rigo. Too late Hissydamus, it’s in print for all the world to see. Several of us have already cut and pasted you Donaire predictions. You f’d up. Just be a man and admit it.

“YES he IS. ” No he ISN’T. All you have to rely on for your prophetizing is P4P rankings. Otherwise you don’t know squat about the boxers. P4P rankings are crap. Just like YOU.

Rigo is a master boxer but I don’t think he’ll ever be a master entertainer. There are some guys people pay to watch even though they might not really be the best, think Gatti Ward.
Personally I don’t find boxers like Rigo or Malignaggi all that entertaining, even though I admire their skills.

“No, he isn’t. But he did just prove that P4P rankings mean nothing.”-YES he IS. And he just proved that being the 2nd BEST Boxer in the Sport is BETTER than being the 5th BEST. But I already KNEW that.

“The judges were far too kind to Donaire and far too disrespectful to Rigondeaux” I disagree. Rigondeaux ran too much in some rounds and in other he hardly threw more punches than Donaire. I had Rigo winning by four rounds. I thought that was more than fair.

Some dudes complaining about Rigo ‘running’ but I disagree. He was turning Donaire around everytime he got inside and nailed him with nice counters. He wasn’t holding he was boxing. It wasn’t a night of fireworks but it was a night when boxing skills prevailed. Donaire’s got holes in his game as I said all along. Rigo had the style to exploit them as I said all along. Frankly I was surprised when his came took this fight because I knew Rigo’s style was all wrong for him.

Supreme Court

They keep saying Donaire should have cut off the ring, bla bla bla…
He tried!
And every time he did, Rigo would zag when Donaire zigs, then pivot or pirouette!
There is no remedy for that when a talented fighter is well conditioned….

The casual fans who attended this fight booed as expected. The boxing purists like myself enjoyed every minute of this fight. The high level technical matchup in this fight was reminiscent of Whitaker-McGirt and Rigo pitched a shut out. That counter straight left hand from Rigo is deadly quick and accurate…he rolled from Donaire’s jab and came back with that punch several times with no adjustment made on Donaire’s part. According to Compubox, Donaire’s total connect %age was 23%…thats crazy for a fighter of his caliber, power, and accuracy and a testament to Rigo’s defense. You take away the 10th round outlier and its even lower than that. Nothing but credit to Rigo for preparing and EXECUTING a great game plan.

Posted April 17, 2013 4:56 pm

Boxtradamus

Rigo is the 2nd BEST Boxer in the ENTIRE Sport of Boxing. He just BLITZED the #5 P4P Fighter in the World. Ward’s BEST WIN is vs the #10 P4P Dawson. SO Rigo now holds the edge on him there. His Defense is BETTER than Marquez’s and his Boxing IQ is on PAR. NO one in Rigo’s weight range can beat him. Not even Broner. Its time for Rigo to go UP and beat Mikey Garcia.

Rigo’s reflexes won’t last forever…BUT they will last as long as he’s not taking a beating in the RIN!

Posted April 17, 2013 3:56 pm

Only bad thing is Rigo is 32 those catlike reflexes won’t last forever…Luckily the guy is taking training very serious so that could buy him a few more years…still this is one who should have been pro years ago….The US should stop the stupid and unfair embargo they have against Cuba….I truly believe it would end up with people in time demanding their fighters be televised and be given free of their amateur status…But as long as there is a us vs them feeling in the cuban public (and rightly so) changes will simply not come…All they’re doing is forcing Cuba to trade with crazy countries like Iran and North Korea…

Enough is Enough.

This was an awesome fight those that didn’t like it are most likely Philipeno. To me you gotta be completely unbiased when it comes to boxing it’s an international sport. It’s not team this or country that it’s this guy from Cuba and this Guy from the philipines and both are crazy good and it’s gonna be badass. And it was every bit of badass. from round one Rigo showed lightning speed and cat like reflexes that were leaving me in awe. This is a man that has enudred over 400 amateur fights you dont do that by getting hit 80% or 90% of the time. Rigo is a MASTER BOXER and will go down and that. And here’s the other thing who the heck goes through a boxing camp with their trainer consulting over the phone.

KOrnerman- I was at the fight and enjoyed it a lot. Just like you said, there was a constant tension there and you could definitely see the guys speed and skills. Plus there were 2 giant screens right behind the ring too, although I found those a bit distracting at times. I did see the fight on TV after and found Rigo had won some rounds I had given to Donaire live, but the fight was definitely full of drama and exitement live (if you’re not Filipino, of course).

If Nonito would of jabbed at his chest, even thrown a double have, he would if been better off. If he would of cut the ring off instead if just following him around, he would of been better off

Rigo has 8 ko’s in 12 fights…that’s not a “runner”, that’s a great counter puncher with some pop. Who was hurt more in the fight? Rigo, from his knockdown? Or, Donaire from that ass kicking he took in the 12th round?

it’s amazing to me that people thought the fight was a snoozefest. I thought it was utterly engrossing. I couldn’t look away. such an exquisite masterclass. definitely a fight for real boxing fans only. just magnificent. donaire was like a seal trapped in the open ocean with a shark. brilliant

Watching Friday night fights last Friday, Teddy Atlas picked Rigo to win with 100% certainty and I was thinking Teddy must be nuts but, he certainly knew what he was talking about. Rigondeaux did an excellent excellent job of boxing.
I can’t see anyone beating him. He may have gotten rocked before in previous fights but, you have to realize this guy has learned from his mistakes and he will only get better. To do what he did to a great champion like Donaire, Rigo is a special fighter.

I liked the fight too it was intense, chess with fists that both guys knew could end the fight at any point, if anything they gave each other too much respect and cancelled each other out but it was the Flash who was forcing the fight and initiating the action 95% of the time. Good to watch on TV but maybe not live where the finer points cant be appreciated.

Posted April 17, 2013 5:32 am

KOrnerman

“but when Floyd Mayweather, Jr. does a similar round robin approach in order to keep his opponent at bay and not let matters escape his hands (or gloves), he is lauded with great heaps of praise” true but at least Floyd throws shots while being elusive, Rigo was just plain elusive.

Posted April 17, 2013 5:29 am

I have to admit, I liked the fight. It was a combination of footwork and speed and technique rarely seen these days. A real pleasure to watch him ducking :-) , and this is even more outstanding for me.
I always thought, Donaire would be too slow to cope with Rigondeaux, based on the fights one can watch on Youtube. Also the defense of Donaire has some holes. Not that Donaire is done, over the hill, washed up and so on. That’s bulls**it. I think, Rigondeaux is really a one of a kind talent with great work ethics concerning his training moral. This combination is hard to beat.

tor you dimwit.. you dont meet force with force, you meet it with your ability, talent, mobily and turn it in on itself, so it self destroys… what Rigo did.. i admit i’m not a fan of such style fighting, not at all, but i give him kudos for doing the right thing

Posted April 17, 2013 4:35 am

on a side note… watched GGG interview from before this fight and he had said Rigo was gonna win because he is like a “predator” in there… Golovkin is the only boxer out there that officially picked Rogo over Donaire

Posted April 17, 2013 4:30 am

Rigo is not a fighter. He is good in running. Rigo must compete with Usain bolt. Rigo won, no problem, but, Rigo kissed the canvass. Rigo is too much afraid of Doniare,so, Rigo ran and ran, what a shame for a boxer who is trained as a runner.

Posted April 17, 2013 4:29 am

Maxmus, this is boxing and the fundamental of the sport is to hit and not get hit. This is not a Rocky Balboa movie, this was the sweet science executed to almost perfection. Froch v Kessler is gonna be another war and we all love those but some if us appreciate boxing in its most purest.

Posted April 17, 2013 3:11 am

Aaron

@Lman I think it was Donaire that took a risk. I heard his team didn’t even watch tape of Rigo. Are you serious???? What a joke. Donaire came into the fight woefully unprepared. He’s spent so much time doing promos, Twitter, accepting awards, that he forgot his day job. Plain and simple.

Posted April 17, 2013 3:08 am

Aaron

I’m in the minority opinion but I don’t Rigo is an elite fighter. Yes, he smashed Donaire but Donaire was the perfect style matchup. Donaire is like Roy Jones Jr. He plods along the ring just throwing an occasional haymaker. But unlike Jones, Donaire looked out of shape and unwilling to throw hooks early in the fight. I think Mares, with his non-stop attack style, would give Rigo trouble. Not to mention that Donaire still knocked Rigo down with a dirty, but not too hard a shot. Rigo has a glass jaw that will get exposed.

Posted April 17, 2013 3:06 am

It was not only a win on the score-cards. Donaire¨s face was a mess.

LMAO…Cut off the ring and throw a jab…..Aginst a southpaw moving left, quicker than you and hurts you with counterpunching ?

Yes…real boxingexperts here…Had Nonito taken your advice he would have been knocked out.

Yeah he definitely took Donaire to school. I gave Donaire 2 rounds, the 5th cause Rigo ran to much and then the 10th because of the knockdown but Rigo took control of that round the last 45 seconds. So people are upset that Donaire does not know how to cut the ring off or throw a good jab. Donaire only looks good against fighters who walk straight to him

Posted April 17, 2013 12:23 am

nonaire taken to school? what school then? ballet school? at least donaire came to fight. the only time rigondeux got close he landed on his back. be honest this was a close fight..rigondeux got the descion..thats it but who wants to watch boring fights like this..maybe im just old fashioned but i i rember chuvalo – clay naseem- barrerea etc.etc thats boxing at its best at least guys like ward, kessler, golovkin are still keeping the torch allight.. can’t wait for froch kessler 2…

Anyone who takes on and convincingly defeats a p4p threat like a Nonito with so few proffesional fight to his name is the real deal plain and simple. Theres only a handful of guys who have been game enough to take such huge risks early in their careers, especially in the current age of extreme record padding.
