My fight with Chavez Jr. will end early, he’ll be on his knees in front of me

Sorry Sergio, it went the other way. You were not on your knees, but you were on your A**.

GG

Martinez all the way!!!!

Chavez Jr got here on the strenght of the WBC stealing the belt from Martinez and handing it over to chavez jr, and Chavez coming in as a cruiserweight to beat blown up jr middle contender Marco Antonio Rubio ( who Pavlik almost killed in the ring if I remember correctly) and Andy Lee who cant handle punishment well and looks like the frailest middleweight I have ever seen. Martinez will make things right on sept 15

couldnt agree more with this post

Anyone who says Chavez Jr is a better boxer than Martinez is ignorant nuff said!

Chavez Jr. will be stopped BRUTALLY just as I predicted! I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!

philly shell

What’s this dude’s problem? The fight’s already as hyped as it’s going to be…

Posted September 4, 2012 5:03 pm

Toño

I’m very happy to see that Martinez fans are convinced that he is going to win. This will only add credibility to Chavez when he knocks out Martinez. This is another easy fight for Chavez!

It’s Me, Ernie…

It’s good to see he is not intimidated by the idiots that are threatening him.

Chavez is an easy target, no side to side movement. He comes in with his head down and squared shoulders. His claim to fame is bulldogging you into the ropes and slamming your body until he gets a good head shot. Sergio’s a great boxer he’s not going to stay in the pocket long enough for Chavez to try to inflict any pain. Sergios movement will be difficult to land any devistating punch. Sergio will move from one side to another and hit as he’s moving. Sergio has KO’d his foe’s with each hand right hook and solid straight left. Everyones counting on Chavez to use his size to muscle Martinez into the ropes but he won’t be able to do that as he’s being peppered from all angles. Chavez will grow frustrated and leave himself open for a power left that will buckle him just enough for him to receive a barrage of punches that will eventually cause the ref to stop the fight. Chavez will not go down his machismo will keep him standing only to hurt him indefinitely.

His KO of Williams was sweet.

I got so wrapped up in the title that the article was a letdown. I predict I will be on my knees in front of lots of muscular man guys in no time. I am the greatest man lover of all time.

sergio’s stamina will be key. he’ll win if he can remain aggressive for 12 rounds.

Jones, Hopkins is a coward of a fighter I hate even mentioning his name.As for Martinez he will walk over Chavez

Posted September 4, 2012 1:09 am

Jones

Peej Pavlik was drunk before the Hopkins fight. Everyone knows that. Even Pavs team said Pav had no strength moving up in that fight. It also doesnt help when Hopkins once again fought dirty in that fight like he does in his others.

LOL at the people dismissing Martinez’s opponents. Martinez’s opponents were waaay better than Chavez’s opponent and would wipe the floor with them.

After watching 24/7 I have a sense that Martinez intends to do serious damage to Chavez – I really can’t see any way that Chavez wins – he could not have beaten Williams or Pavlik, and Sergio is continuing to improve.

Posted September 4, 2012 1:03 am

Peej

I’m still trying to figure out who Martinez fought that was elite? Overrated Williams? thats a negative, a Pavlik that was drunk, in and out of rehab and hasn’t looked the same since Hopkins? thats a negative. Not to mention those wins did look good at the time but what has he done since then but call out welters? He has looked terrible in his last 3 fights. Yes a year a go I was saying Martinez is only targeting the weakest of the titlest in his division but now I think Chavez will win. And still Martinez has yet to fight the top contenders in his division except for Macklin

Chicago guy

Chavez Jr. is faster so it is not easy for the ballarina to knock him out.

I had a very terrible dream a few months ago and it seemed so real. I even woke up from it. I dreamt that this was a very hard fight. In that dream I saw Chavez jr on a stretcher. Jr got brain damage from this hard fight.

Martinez will definitely get jobbed if the fight goes to the scorecards.

The Mad Scientist

P.Williams and Pavlik are Sergio’s best wins..both guys have diffrent styles from Chavez Jr..Williams was an active tall guy with a long reach who punches in volume but didn’t possess good power to overwhelm opponents at 154 much less at 160..Kelly Pavlik is just jab, jab, straight right who can’t effectively fight on the inside like a Chavez Jr can..this is why I believe Jr will be the best pressure fighter Martinez has ever face..add size, youth, strength toughness and constantly improving with each fight I say the kid is not an easy night for anybody..is that enough to win against Maravilla remains to be seen but I can’t wait to find out..war Chavez!

God you guys must be dreaming chavez is the most over hyped champ & is not on the level of martinez, govolkin, geale or pirog he will be exposed he has fought really bad opposition . cant wait to see your faces when he gets ktfo just because he is mexican does not make him great so stop fooling yourselves. look who hes fought in his 40 odd fights nobody thats who lee, rubio are the best his fought & they are average fighters. cheers

Chavez will knock Martinez out, mark my words.

Posted September 3, 2012 11:46 pm

JCoolaid

Yeah, I see a KO for Martinez. This fight will make Chavez a better fighter though, and tougher for it.

Posted September 3, 2012 11:33 pm

The Mad Scientist

Seems like most here don’t think much of Chavez Jr and they see an easy win for Martinez..these are the same people who’ll be on here down playing Juniors victory if he wins the fight..why?, because they already made up their mind that Chavez doesn’t got what it takes to beat Martinez unless he cheats..whatta bunch of sorry ass hating sore loosers..

Posted September 3, 2012 11:18 pm

I agree, Martinez hasn’t looked good and those hands down will get him in trouble at least once during the figtht. Tough one to call.

Posted September 3, 2012 11:09 pm

It’s Me, Ernie…

Right on Sergio, drop that fool.

Posted September 3, 2012 11:06 pm

Peej

You talk a lot about Chavez record but who has Martinez really fought himself? An overrated Williams, a drunken Pavlik right out of rehab who had not been fighting and whom has not looked anything like the guy that won the championship. He has a lost against Margacheato. His last 3 fights he has not looked good in until the KO came. The last fighter really just ran out of stamina.

Posted September 3, 2012 10:28 pm

WTF?

Mex, Scientist.. I’m actually looking forward to this fight… I say Martinez batters Jr. for 8 rounds then stops him as the Ref steps in to save Jr from a career ending beating…

Posted September 3, 2012 10:19 pm

UJelly?

I don’t understand the thought that Chavez can stop Martinez. He could potentially win a decision, but a KO???
Martinez has (in recent years) been in with harder-punching pressure fighters than Chavez and been fine.

Chavez’ only real stoppages in his last 10 fights were Lee (which was more fatigue and broken will than actually being hurt) and LeHoullier. The Manfredo stoppage was waaayyy early… not saying Manfredo would’ve won or that he wouldn’t have copped more of a beating, but he was barely even hurt when they stopped it.
Recently, Chavez failed to stop Rubio (who Pavlik demolished… the same Pavlik who failed to wear down and stop Martinez) and Zbik (who Sturm… not a big puncher… was able to stop).
Seriously, if he comes anywhere remotely close to stopping Martinez then I’d be incredibly surprised.

Ghetto Thug

sometime ago everybody was saying chavez was affraid of martinez, now everybody give lame reasons why chavez will win, will we ever see smart coments again here in ESB??

There is no need for crying, they still cash the money

The Mad Scientist

We’ll just have to wait till Sept. 15th to see what’s going to happen..I’m going for Chavez to pull the upset but if he comes up short I wont be here crying like some of you hating as sore loosers..

Chavez is going to hurt Sergio

Posted September 3, 2012 8:40 pm

tacoBENDER

in my opinion, this fight will go 8 HARD fought rounds…then in middle of round 9, we’re gonna see Martinez lose strength and eventually go through a very HARD punishment..eventually falling to his demise in the late 10th or the early 11th…very similar to Margarito vs Cotto (first fight) This could be a very bloody fight…bad for Martinez.. Jr will end him late…just SAYIN’

Posted September 3, 2012 8:24 pm

Hidalgo

Martinez will not stop Chavez. I think the fight will go the distance and Martinez will pay dearly if he does decide to engage. BTW Mr. Smith, Chavez does not “plod,” and his “inside” body attack is devastating. Sergio will feel the pain for sure. Martinez will be looking to counter, for the most part, and trying to land the one or two big punches that will take Jr. out. But that ain’t going to happen because Chavez is too tall, too long, too tough, and too strong. A year ago I would have picked Martinez by a landslide. Now, I wouldn’t bet on it. I’m thinking split decision–with controversy–for Chavez. We’ll see.

Posted September 3, 2012 7:56 pm

Peej

I never said that Chavez was fighting murders row. No he does not have anybody that could compete except for that dude that just fought Saturday whom lost against Chavez for the WBC title. He in my opinion is better than Williams. Williams was overrated and Pavlik was coming out of rehab, not fighting and fought Martinez. Pavlik has not been the same since the Hopkins thrashing. But besides that after those 2 fights, who in the heck does Martinez have on his resume? Oh yeah a loss against Margacheato

Posted September 3, 2012 7:50 pm

WTF?

We’ll see how great Chicken Jr’s chin is when he starts fighting guys his true size.. when he fights guys 180+lbs and takes their flush shots then we can talk about how great Chicken Jr’s chin us until then he’s just another C level head first plodder fighting much smaller guys…

Posted September 3, 2012 7:49 pm

helixP

etc… Who else other than Pavlik who was WAY OVERRATED and Williams who is practically a walking punching bag

Posted September 3, 2012 7:45 pm

TARK

It may not end early because Chavez has a great chin.. I believe this is Martinez psyching Chavez out.. The fight will either end late, or with a UD for Martinez. The important thing is to win—and Sergio is not going to lose sight of that.. It could end early.. David Haye kept saying he would knock Chisora stiff early in the fight — everybody laughed and ridiculed Haye because it was thought Chisora’s chin was iron clad and Chisora out-weighed Haye by 37 pounds …. Belief is a powerful instrument of success.

winetaster

An unpolished Light heavyweight vs. a very good Junior Middleweight. Size usually wins except against an exceptional smaller person. We will see if Martinez is exceptional.

Posted September 3, 2012 7:26 pm

WTF?

Peej – name one fighter on Chicken Jr’s bogus resume better then Williams, Pavlik, etc…

Posted September 3, 2012 7:05 pm

pp2000

Hahaha, ‘on his knees in front of me’…sounds like a prison movie Sergio. Anyway, go Sergio!

Posted September 3, 2012 6:54 pm

Peej

I am going with Chavez on this one. I was picking Martinez but his lack of comp and the folks he has actually defended his title against should drop him on the P4P list to the bottome 10. He has not looked impressive until his KO’s, though he is KOing his opponents he is not looing good in doing it. So I am going with Chavez by late round stoppage or points victory

Posted September 3, 2012 6:38 pm

BEARS

I hope martinez beats his ass in thisone and is mean about it. I love freddy roach and all but I just want martinez to woop some ass in dominant fashion. We’l see

Posted September 3, 2012 6:33 pm

Lman

I’ve been a critic of Matrinez for his lack of motivation for unifying the middleweight belts after his marquee wins over Williams and Pavlik…Geale has done what he should have..In any case Martinez is the best athlete and fighter Chavez has ever faced but having said that Chavez has also prepared himself well along the way, mainly conditioning himself whether legally or illegally to be the bigger man come fight night in most of his fights..
