Canelo will be easy work for Mayweather, but at least he has the look to be a “galan” in a soap opera in Mexico. I talk thrash but I’m willing to back it up against anybody and anyone.

Trout “admited” his defeat because he wanted to get out alive, remember his fiancee and daughter were in thee crowd. Like I say I talk trash but I bach it up baby.

Victor

I agree with the article, Canelo didn’t beat Trout, Trout outboxed and outlanded Canelo. But I’ll give it to Canelo caused he landed a knockdown and the harder punches. But if you consider ring generalship and other aspects of boxing I think Trout should have won. But in Texas you have to literally carry a baseball bat and knock out a mexican to get the victory, you can’t leave it in the judges hands, if you don’t believe me ask Paul E Malignatti in his first fight with Juan “baby bull” Diaz in Houston. I know I talk a lot of trash but i back it up baby I back it up.

I don’t find Canelo’s victory the least bit disappointing. He was fighting a highly skilled, fast, big, and smart opponent. Canelo showed true grit, and his defensive slipping was brilliant. He was making a very accurate Trout miss. As for the later rounds, I predicted that they would be where Canelo would fade and Trout take control, but instead the opposite happened. Canelo took some rounds off here and there, but all fighters do when they realize they might be going the distance. I was impressed by the redheaded Mexican. I was also impressed with Trout, but Saturday belonged to Canelo. Even Trout admits that.

In all fairness to my arch-nemesis Boxtradamus, he did in fact pick Canelo to win “by robbery.” It was his mysterious clone who picked Trout. In any case, Boxy was at least half right. Canelo won.

Touts – lack of opposition to the decision and ease at which he took the loss and how he backed off down the stretch tell me he may have been in on the Canelo Hype Job.. probably paid a good sum of $$$ to take it easy on Canelo like Mosely did… all part of the Show..

Hidalgo – Canelo knew he won when they took the fight and it was in TEXAS.. We all knew he’d win.. It’s what was expected in TEXAS.. LOL.. The fight was another Texas robbery.. two of the Judges gave Canelo every single round.. Wha???? WTF was that?

Posted April 21, 2013 10:24 am

Gussie Finknottle

No way was this dissapointing….I’ve just watched the fight with no sound. I think they both fought brilliantly. When you’ve got 2 great boxers in their prime you will get a good close fight. I scored the fight to Alvarez by 2 rounds. His puncehes had more impact and Trouts punches were not accurate enough to win the rounds with their cumulative effect.

After reading some of the earlier articles I was expecting to see a robbery. I think ESB needs to review who they let write articles on this page.

“Canelo who scored the most dramatic and memorable shots throughout the entire fight.” See, this is why Canelo won the fight. Not robbery, not crooked judges. What did Trout do that was dramatic and memorable? He got knocked down and wobbled on several other occasions. Trout was busy, busy, busy, and ineffective, ineffective, ineffective. Meanwhile, Canelo really needs to work on his stamina or he’ll ending up knocking himself out against the next top level opponent that he fights.

Posted April 21, 2013 9:42 am

“He ALREADY knew he won!” I also thought Alvarez was disrespectful, but already knowing that he won is not Canelo’s fault. I just don’t like open-scoring. Not at all.

It’s TEXAS man did you expect anything other then a Robbery??? My prediction was Trout would OutBox Canelo and then get Robbed and as we saw that’s what happened.. Canelo did no better then Cotto did vs Trout but in Canelos fight Goldenboy had bought and paid for the Texus Judges.. The announcers where Horribly Pro Canelo.. anything Canelo did was Hyped and Anything Trout did was not talked about.. Obvious who SHO and the Announcers were behind…

Canelo’s strongest round was probably the 11th, in which he had Trout in some trouble. Hardly the sign of stamina issues. His lower punch output in some of the later rounds was more the result of knowing he was comfortably ahead than an inability to throw.

Trout’s comments after the fight should put to rest any thoughts of robbery. His fans should show the same class as the fighter and recognise that there’s no shame in being beaten by a good fighter in a very good fight.

Posted April 21, 2013 6:28 am

i have it 114-113 for trout – canelo was not enought busy to win the fight – open scoring is terrible for boxing and i have to agree with the writer comments – seems canelo has huge stamina issue

BIAS JUDGING!!

….It was so blatant the disrespect seeing Canelo drape the belts around his body BEFORE the results were read!! He ALREADY knew he won! Canelo fought like a relaxed, tired, overconfident albeit defensive wizard, knowing VERY EARLY ON the fight would be his!!! A REMATCH is in ORDER – FAR AWAY from that huge Texas dome!! Then we wont see that overly relaxed version of a 22yr old fighter that claims to be hungry. His hunger wouldve been satisfied with 3 grapes and a chicken nugget the way he fought and missed with those wild amateurish caveman shots. The boxing public was treated to foolishness tonight. One of the worst fights ever. Now I wanna see that little fake upstart EXPOSED!! WOW, Draping the belts over his body BEFORE the results were read….he should at least have faked not knowing; like he FAKED hunger BEFORE the fight with all this fake REVENGE talk!!!

Trout was the ineffective agressor, to timid and out of shape to mount any successful offence, I think the judge who had 115 to 112 for canelo had the score about right. 118 to 109 though was a joke of a score, I though trout won 5 rounds. If trout trained like this was the fight of his life he might of been able pull it off. Canelo, I haven’t seen to much of him but he looks like he is their to be had after 6 rounds, a fighter with good stamina like martinez would bury about 120 punches on him for couple rounds and canelo be lucky if he would survive that. It’s a learning experience for both fighters, so they both need to go back to the drawing board because both fighters looked they need inprovement.

Canelo reminds me of berto, looks stellar against above average competition but when he fights the real superstars he will get his ars handed to him. He’s the next big hype job like cotto was, they know he can beat many of the fighters which makes him a cash cow but he needs to reach another level if he wants to hold on to those belts for long.

Scoring the fight in favor of Strout is completely out of this world. The first rounds were really closed, but Strout got knocked down, then Strout tried to attack but was completelty unsuccesful, you can not win just by jabbing, and he received lots of counter punches (especially right crosspunches and uppercuts) thru almost every round. Of course agree with that obscene 8 or 9 points given by one judge, but having Strout winning the fight?, Even Trout admitted his loss.

I’d like to see canelo fight Martinez next because I would be watching canelo get a broken nose, eyes swelled shut and knocked out. Mayweather would box him and make him his beotch for 12 rounds. Trout was to weak and not in good enough condition to execute his plan effectively but mayweather or martinez would be, he fights either of them he loses. Credit to canelo for steping up but can he get in better condition to fight a mayweather or martinez? I don’t see it, canelo fights in sperts and doesn’t have to much after 6 rounds is what I see.

Trout would have been strung up on a pull if he wasn’t humble, the crowd was very disrespectful during the interview to boo trout. The fight was very close and the one judge was so far off he shouldn’t be judging. The other two were at least in the ball park. Trout had the right plan and that was stay away from the power of canelo but he should have moved in on canelo more when he tired. Canelo looked like martinez and mayweather would not only win but probably knock him out. Canelo is young but he didn’t look to hungry tonight, if it were mayweather or martinez in that ring he would have never made it to the 12th. Seems some of canelo hometown fans made it here to hype up there fighter. Canelo just proved the A level fighters would beat him if he showed up to fight like he did tonight.

Posted April 21, 2013 3:19 am

I’m not sure what was up with Canelo I think his stamina is not good at his young age just yet. If it was he knocks Trout out, there was a couple times Canelo landed some bombs on Trout but didn’t follow up. Pretty impressed by the defense though I started laughing at one point of how many shots Trout was missing.

Trout is taking the high road and simply being humble about the situation. He doesnt seem the type to delve into crying over spilt milk, even if it happens to be a truckload. When you see him again, after he watches the fight again, he may may most certainly change his tune for all to hear. Trout looked HORRIBLE missing so much, but he was the aggressor. Canelo was relaxed the 2nd half of the fight because he already knew the bias judges lopsided results!! Canelo was more crisp and decisive with his GREAT defensive head movement, but he got caught more, with a wack connection rate of his own! Again, what a corny championship fight, it might as well had been Richie Cunningham vs Arthur Fonzarelli the way this fight was sooo disappointing. Anyway, Garcia vs Judah should be waaay better than this, even when Judah eventually loses.

Posted April 21, 2013 2:29 am

te tumbo

Canelo simply pulled the rug out from under Trout. he demonstrated the superior skills in virtually every aspect but particularly defense. i don’t think Trout landed a single flush shot(?) and frequently missed in bunches of 4-6. conversely, Canelo was scoring solid rights and uppercuts throughout the fight; Decked Trout with a beautiful 1-2; and regularly stung and buckled him throughout the bout. nonetheless, Trout was slick and big, which only highlighted Canelo’s deliberate profile and skills. i thought he could’ve and should’ve ended it earlier with a final rush but instead he assumed the poised and restrained posture he’s known for. anyway, Trout’s performance never threatened to break away from Canelo who scored the most dramatic and memorable shots throughout the entire fight.

I wouldve at least given the fight a draw. They both looked bad, but Trout was the busier of the two landing more shots. Trout kept missing badly against skillful head movement, but Canelo was missing a whole lot as well not trying to close the gap successfully. They both landed good shots with Canelo landing the knockdown which didnt mean much since Trout eventually pressured Canelo the rest of the round, with Canelo unable to capitalize. This was one of the most lackluster boring championship fights Ive ever seen. If Trout was Canelo and vice versa, the judges wouldve given the fight to Canelo on pure aggression; even though he missed so much. Tomato Can was right the judges would most likely be swayed by Canelos love by the adoring fans and commentating…..what a corny boring fight!!!….Trout couldve easily been awarded the decision!!

Posted April 21, 2013 1:50 am

OCTAVIUS72

I picked Trout to win; and I still stand by that. This is bad for boxing. They are just setting Canelo up to be the next hot thing. I sincerely hope they do feed him to Floyd Mayweather!!!!!!

Posted April 21, 2013 1:46 am

Ya tu sabe

I agree canelo was lazy, and unwilling to engage in the fight but he was landing the harder punches. Trout was missing too much, it looked like canelo was just toying with him
Where trout was trying soo hard. If it weren’t for the knock down I think trout would have won but no doubt canelo won. I’m actually impressed with canelo, I thought he was just a forward head first piñata but he showed some nice slick moves.
