philly shell

Not a big fan of the Klitschkos, but either one of them would KO Fury. He doesn’t have the slickness he thinks he has and leaves his head wide open. I disagree with the article though, he may be arrogant in the extreme, but at least he put on an exciting fight.

slip and hit

This was the first smaller hvwt he fought…just like the k-bros have done and champs like Holmes before that.Fury has been in with legit hvwts. and at 24 hes been in with better fighters then some of these guys today at 28 or 30yrs old…name me a better 24yr old at this point.Kids still learning but beat the hell out of a guy who just really beat Adamek a top 5 hvwt.

K-2- Fan

Reg Walsh ; you have given Fury an English heart and Irish blood yet
you refer to the Klitchkos as the ” great Russian pair ” . Since the WHOLE
world by now knows that they are Ukrainian NOT Russian , what kind of brains
do YOU have ?

Barely beat Cunningham…really, what fight were you watching?Fury took complete controll in the 5-6-and a 7th round k.o. And took the first round aswell, people are putting wwaaayy to much into that breif k.d.Fury beat him so bad Cunningham couldnt get off his stool and stand-up it ended in a beat down face it.

Wait and see

This is a Fury rope a dope of epic proportions. It’s easy to tell no one has watched Fury’s progression. Fury fought poorly against Cunningham. Got caught sleeping. A lot of haters are going to be eating crow someday soon. Continue thinking he’s a one trick pony. Just don’t bet your retirement fund against him. Maybe some heavyweights will sign on the dotted line now. We’ll see who laughs last.

one straight from Wlad and this guy is flat on his back and lights out. I feel sorry for Cunnningham, but he has to learn some mean tactis to survive against a dirty fighter like Fury. Maybe ask B-Hop.

TARK

Fury did what he had to do to win… He was getting outboxed and out-punched for 2 rounds and he knew he had to go to plan B… Plan B was to stalk and maul Cunningham until he was stretched flat out on the canvas… Fury risked more point deductions, and if you lose too many points on fouls you lose by DQ.. I felt he could have been called for a couple more fouls — but he wasn’t nearly as dirty as Robert Guerrero in the Andre Berto fight.

But Tyson had little choice — and plan B worked to perfection. I suggest he work extremely hard on his jab — because Wladimir would have jabbed Cunningham’s head off, and stopped him in a couple of rounds, without resorting to roughhouse tactics. The difference is Tyson’s jab is too slow — and lacks deception. Same with his straight right. Since Fury’s reach is an astounding 85″ if he develops the jab and straight right he’ll be unstoppable.

Fury’s now 21-0 (15KOs). That’s impressive, and Fury keeps winning. The haters can say what they like, but it’s only a matter of time before Fury wins an alphabet title.

Some good comments here, I agree fully, Fury deserves credit, he changed tactics and he’s not the first heavyweight to employ dubious tactopics. Gotta ignore the haters, those bitter hateful losers who don’t understand the sport.

Tyson Fury is a straight up FUNNY BUM! Any real heavy weight would air this fool out! He has NO chin! No foot work, hell he has NO skills at all….Funny but no skills period! He is only a big gaint punching bag! Arreola, The K brothers, Haye and many others would take his top off!

Good article. It was indeed fun to watch this lumbering great mouthy moron get knocked down by a boxer four stones lighter than him. I also agree that if the rules of boxing had been properly enforced Cunningham would very probably have knocked him out. Well done to Cunningham: a superb fighter, a great athlete, and one hell of a decent human being. As for Fury, he’s an embarrassment to Manchester, to Britain, and to British sport. Can’t he go and represent Ireland instead? We REALLY don’t want anything to do with him.

He’s eating too many jelly beans, and the singing, oh dear lol

tszyu’s crushed gonads

It’s amusing that fellow countrymen gloss over outlandish trash-talking morons, but when he’s from another country…it’s horrific and unforgiveable. Congratulations, Britain, you’ve got yourself a real high class genius. Anyway, it was a great fight to watch…and I’m glad this big-mouth lout isn’t from America, we have enough of them already.
Oh, and Tyson, you ein’t no Robin Gibbs.

Fury deserves credit…this article sucks.

.. and maybe act a bit more humble too ….. at times during the fight, during the build-up and certainly straight after the fight, he came across as a big, daft wanker. Still, almost every time he fights it is entertaining …. so I cant complain too much.

Neil (Pomy)

Please someone tell him for his own good ….. you cannot sing!!!!!

Posted April 21, 2013 2:10 pm

Richard Bulger

Dude cannot sing a lick, but he sure can scrap, and put a monster KO on Steve USS. I give Fury some props for being tough and getting up off the floor and going on to a KO victory. He was in amazing shape too. A good win for the Irishman. Erin go Braugh.

Big Jake

So what’s your point Horst, if Two Ton Tony Gelento had hit Joe Louis with one more left hook, he might of KOed him, if Big Errnie Shavers had just landed one more punch on Larry Holmes it would have been light out . These two great World Champions didn’t have great chins either. there is a pretty long list of average fighters that knocked down Holmes and Louis..

Posted April 21, 2013 1:08 pm

horst fraze

if cunningham had real heavyweight power fury would still be on the canvas.

Big Jake

What a rubbish article, give the young guy who is fighting in the ring some credit, have you ever been in the ring Mr. Strauss. Tyson at least comes to fight, and it is a fight, not a dance, so you use any advantage you have. Ali was the best at pulling down his opponents head, Holyfield and Holmes were masters at using their thumbs, elbows and heads, sometimes it just gets nasty in a fight, Mr. Strauss, so maybe you should report on golf…..

Fury needs to take his self down a notch,he getting away with it now but he must know last night was a wake up call,he’s a tryer but as soon as his big mouth gets him noticed they will be queuing up to K.O him calling out David Haye is a massive mistake,Haye has made a career beating limited fighters for big money.

Sour Grapes. It’s hilarious how so many on this site were saying that Cunningham would be too good and would beat Fury, and that Fury’s size was no advantage as he’s mostly blubber and cant punch yadayadayada….now he’s beat Cunningham,by way of stoppage and the first man to do so,suddenly it was Fury’s size and weight advantage that beat cunninham who is tiny and cant punch….lol…Cunningham looked good in this fight, fit, fast, accurate and definitely some pop in his punches.Yet Fury still beat him.Fury will EASILY beat Pulev and in a year he’ll give either KBro a hard fight. He might not look silky smooth due to his size and poor balance, but the man’s a born fighter.hat’s off to Steve Cunningham for putting it on the line and hope his daughter makes a good recovery.

He still needs to improve. Fighting Pulev or Thompson would be too dangerous right now. Maybe some fights with ustinov, Dimitrenko or wach would be interesting. He as big but more athletic and skilled than these guys. Wlad or Vitali is still about 4 fights away.

Raging bull

I enjoyed the boxing on channel 5 and love seeing the boxing on terrestrial TV, although there were a few annoying mistakes like saying he is the current British champion when David price clearly is, and the rubbish round replays that looked like they were made on windows movie maker..
I thought fury was fun 2 watch last night although it has definitely gone 2 his head when he was giving it big licks in round 1 then in the following round got dealt with, by a massive overhead right hand, and to be honest Cunningham is no heavyweight at 210 pounds. Fury had a massive 45lb weight advantage and the leaning on Steve definitely wore him down, although fury has down well to get this far and I think he may even get past Pulev but his o will go when he meets a klitchko or the hayemaker …however I do think he would beat David price. Prices last defeat was no fluke he has a glass jaw which is such a shame as his boxing skills are awesome, and he look so much better than fury’s sloppy punching.

mayweather86

Exactly the point. Sure he’s exciting at times, couldn’t box his way out a wet paper bag. He has a good punch and tremendous heart but is no challenge for the champ

Posted April 21, 2013 11:27 am

no clue

granted, they guy is raw as sushi in boxing technique terms but he comes to fight and shows a willingness to engage… There are plenty of HW, aside from WK, that would make for an intertaining match up wtih Fury

Posted April 21, 2013 11:20 am

Gussie Finknottle

Ali got knocked down by Henry Cooper…a small heavyweight. Ali was in so much trouble they had to cut his glove to give him extra time to recover. Ali was The Greatest

Tyson Fury got knocked down and recovered completely.
Don’t underestimate Tyson Fury. He is young and foolish…but very talented.
