Fury , and some of his most ardent supporters tend to confuse confidence
with delusional stupidity . The problem is this ; while confidence , rather
OVER confidence , can be cured , I’m afraid delusional stupidity remains
an incurable condition !

The BBBC should really get a hold of some of these REFS,some of there fights are abysmal, they let fighters get away with blatant fouling and seem afraid to stop fights when they occur,a bad foul can put an inscrutable fighter back in the fight and in some cases win…..I suppose Fury will be thinking of a third fight with John McDermott to show the world yet again that there is not a man born who he can’t beat his mother…

People need to really get on the cases of fighters like Arreola, Grant, Holmes, Bowe, Ruiz, Barrett, Douglas, Cooney and ”’almost” Povetkin because they all actually LOSSST to blown up fighters from lower weights, Fury, love him or loathe him, hasnt!

Dan D – yup he did. I’m impressed that Fury knows this. Honestly, it’s another example of Europes superior education system. Then again, it appears most British posters didn’t catch it.

Posted April 22, 2013 9:12 am

Didn’t MacBeth say something very similar? Tyson Fury is getting way too caught up in his own hype. Fight someone decent and then we will see what he is made of. Cunningham is a good fighter but he is too small to be an effective Heavyweight. I hope they give Fury a shot against either Klitschko. Vitali will beat him up and Wlad will box his ears off. Either one of the K Bros are way too good for him.

Posted April 22, 2013 6:34 am

Fury was having a hard time beating a smaller man. If just Cunningham had been a little bigger he would have finished off Fury. Fury talks better than he fight, and are so delusional about his own talent. Its like he want the results before the talent. That KO was dirty since Fury almoste have to push down Conningang to be able to knock him down afterwords. Klitshko will ko him within 3 rounds. I do wish Fury the best. And somehow he’s interesting, or else I and every body else wouldnt be posting.

Fury wants to make a name for himself, and Haye is on the come-back trail. Throw in the fact that they are both British, and you have a natural fight. Fury has said alot of crap about Haye in the past too. I say Haye crumbles Furys jaw badly within 3 rounds

Fury is a threat to anyone at heavyweight ….. i just find him a little embarrassing at times

Posted April 22, 2013 2:44 am

I never said Cunningham was a bum. He’s a good fighter at cruiser. He is not a heavy and cannot beat the better, harder punching heavies. Heavyweight is a whole different fight game than the rest of the weight classes

Fury is a caveman.

Posted April 22, 2013 2:02 am

As far as fighting dirty, like I’ve always said if the ref don’t say anything then it’s not a fouls. Obviously he got caught head butting. I didn’t see the fight so not sure went on there. I don’t like people complaining of fighting dirty, that’s annoying. But as for putting Cunninghams name is the same class as those names you said is ridiculous. He is not even close to those names. So Fury beating Cunningham means nothing, what does is his ass getting dropped by someone who was not a puncher at cruiser.

Gonzo the Dragonborn – Gonzo, Einstein, Da Vinci, Tesla, Newton, Aristotle, Shakespeare

Actually, let’s put that theory to the test shall we.. Why don’t they have a rematch over in Ireland or the UK and Cunningham and Richardson can bring their ignorant goons thugs over with them and see what happens if they try and pull any of their crap outside of their comfort zone. Cunningham said Fury’s team won’t make it to the airport if it kicked off, well I guarantee you guys won’t make it out of the venue over here if it kicks off.

Gonzo the Dragonborn – Gonzo, Einstein, Da Vinci, Tesla, Newton, Aristotle, Shakespeare

Granted Fury behaved like a bellend during his time in the US and was too disrespectful, but Nazeem Richardson has absolutely no right to lecture anyone about fighting dirty or using illegal tactics. His charge Hopkins is the dirtiest fighter in the game and he should keep his mouth switched to off. And Cunningham needs to shut up about Fury’s size advantage too. He must’ve mentioned it at least 300 times during the post-fight press conference. And as for the ghetto trash who tried to intimidate Fury and his team, both during one of the pre-fight press conferences and during the post-fight one last night.. Why don’t you come over to the UK or Ireland and try and act tough where you’re vastly outnumbered by a load of irate travellers who love nothing better than a good scrap? We all know they wouldn’t dare do that in a million years though. Fcking pathetic they felt the need to try and make it into something physical because they couldn’t handle the fact their boy got beat.

I think price would take him. It would be a battle of who could land the fist big punch. Would like to see them match up when price gets through Thompson in their second bout

There are plenty of people that can beat him. I bet Areola knocks him out if they ever fight

Posted April 21, 2013 10:50 pm

I think he is just promoting himself. Guys like mago, Stiverne, Pulev, Haye and even Thompson would cause him serious issues right now. Fighting against say ustinov, grant, dimitrenko, wach would be a good learning test. Around his size but he could take them then work up to the next level.

Fury is very confident, he is not a shrinking violet, he made that remark about sponsoring Cunninghams boots, because he is very confident, he can take a punch if he has to and get back up, his twitter account is bigger now anyway, because of the fight, Fury KO7 Cunningham.

TARK

The author writes, “Make no mistake about Tyson Fury: he is not acting.” …He’s acting all right… He must stay up half the night to come up with some of these lines. He asked Steve Cunningham how much it would cost him to rent advertising space on the bottom of Steve’s shoes…since the crowd was going to get such a good look at them. Cunningham didn’t have a good answer for that.

BTW… When Fury went to a Knicks Basketball game reporters wanted the two Tyson’s to pose for a few photos.. The 7’1″ X 260 pound Tyson Chandler makes Fury look short and small.

Posted April 21, 2013 9:05 pm

The Mad Hatton

Assuming Tyson’s statement is proven as fact, then I guess it will mean the Kbros were born from their father. I can’t see Tyson beating either brother. Cunningham is tricky too.

Fury was very unimpressive last night! He went in & beat up an old blown up Cruiser weight with minimum punching power; Ho-Ray. Keep in mind he got decked by this same past his his prime light punching fighter. Then to ad insult to injury Fury had to resort to dirty rough house tactics to get the KO. Just don’t see much future here!!!

Lame quote…so I guess the only person who could beat him would be the child Arnold Schwarzenegger gave birth to in Junior?

TARK

Ali weighed 206 for his title defense against Liston, 201 for his title defense against Cooper, and 203 for his title defense against Mildenberger… Frazier weighed 203 for his title defense against Bonavena… Fury can’t fight somebody who weighs 210 pounds?

Cunningham’s problem isn’t size. Steve can’t fight inside, isn’t strong enough in the clinches, doesn’t defend particularly well, and can’t absorb a good punch. If it were David Haye in there he would have finished Fury off after a right hand shot like that. I don’t think size is the overwhelming issue. Bryant Jennings called out Fury after the fight and he weighs only 220. I think he destroys Fury.

Fury said he’ll fight Pulev next. LOL. I’ll believe that when I see it — but he’s probably going to fight a very good heavyweight sometime soon. You can’t run your mouth like that and fight the people Price is fighting. If he fights Wladimir or Haye he’ll get badly beaten. If he fights Pulev he’ll be brutalized and taken out.

Posted April 21, 2013 8:35 pm

slip and hit

Fury showed very good skills in the Johnson fight. This fight he got to exicited looking to impress, got side tracked unfocsed. But he still got the job done with a k.o. and came on very strong in the 5,6, and ofcourse the 7rd.At 24 still matureing hes going to be fine, and the K.J. fight did show that he has a decent skill level to work with.

Posted April 21, 2013 8:06 pm

Wlad klitschko was not as good as he is now when he was 24, he wasn’t that good, he was getting beat, fury is doing well for 24, he is getting experience and will just get better.

Posted April 21, 2013 7:54 pm

Truth Teller

I am NOT a fan of the Klitcko brothers…. but I hope Fury gets a shot at one of them so he can get the humbling he so desperately needs. Knocking out a cruiser weight does not impress me…. getting knocked down by a cruiser weight who was never known as a puncher in his natural weight class impresses me even less. This guy is a joke and he’s gonna get KTFO just like that other British hype job David Price did as soon as he steps up in competition.

Fury’s arrogance will be cured by either one of the K brothers if he’s lucky. If he’s NOT, he will be crushed way much sooner. It’s just a matter of time because he’s not all that in the SKILLS dept anyway.

Congratulations Tyson,

You beat a 36 year old fighter with 5 losses when you fought him. Further props for taking on a guy with 38.71% KO percentage. The fact that you only got knocked down once by this past his prime, former Cruiserweight, and feather fisted fighter shows us just how talented you really are. I’m glad you don’t put to much stock or boast about this type of victory and want to step up the level of opposition. You also indicated recently that the Klitschko’s won’t fight you because you’re young, hungry, and dangerous. Of course you’re right, who would want to fight someone who beats up on top teir contenders, comes into the ring in great shape, and has such sharp boxing skills? Keep up the good work. I laugh at all the people and press who say you’re just like David Price.

The smart thing for Mick Hennessey to do is keep Fury fighting at this level for another 2 years to develop him into a top contender. By that time the K brothers will be over the hill and Fury will have honed his skills to become world champion. Fury’s a diamond in the rough, but he still needs a lot more experience.

Posted April 21, 2013 5:30 pm

was a hard nights work but Fury showd once more he DOES have the ability to change tactics when things aren’t going to plan. how many others heavyweights do you see do that? Too many sheep commenting of this no know Nothing about boxing. Give Tyson a chance, he’s still very young in a mans sport and really entertains the crowd. This ain’t just s sport it’s show biz.

Posted April 21, 2013 5:27 pm

And this size crap is the same thing people blame the k-bros. for.If they werent so big they wouldnt be champs.Nonsence many a big men done nothing over the years in boxing, and guys like Holyfield and Mike Tyson were legit hvwt. champs. And if a big man dosent use his size weight, like leaning on his man or using a long reach then hes stupid and not a worthy fighter. If a fighter makes weight for the heavyweight div. then guess what hes a heavyweight…some people.

Posted April 21, 2013 4:43 pm

dwc

Why is it when Adamek who was ranked about number 3 in the world at the HEAVYWEIGHT DIV. fought Cunningham nobody said boo.Now Fury fights the same guy who really beat top ranked HEAVYWEIGHT Adamek and gets a sloppy but still 7th round k.o. people are crying like babies(go watch golf)And Fury did beat a full blown skilled hvwt. in Johnson,he also showed some good boxing skills in that fight aswell.Fury was looking to impress to much in the Cunningham fight being in America so forth, and therfore did some sloppy unfocsed work he is a better boxer then that. But overall he got a 7th round k.o. on a fight many thought he wouldnt win.At 24 and still matureing he is a kid to watch. And his cousin at 18 looks very skillfull with a good amature background,a kid to watch very closely.

“What Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham had on his hands in the ring Saturday night was a real life Mickey O’Neil (ref. the 2000 Movie “Snatch”).”
Is that a joke? That character was basically indestructable. He was also on the small side who routinely destroyed bigger men.
What I saw was a giant man getting dominated by a much smaller man through 6 rounds.
Not only did Cunningham floor the much larger man, but he also stunned him several more times.
The only reason Fury was able to win was by laying his excessive frame on the smaller man and sap him of any energy.
Make no mistake, if Cunningham were the same size, that fight would have been over early, and not in Fury’s favour.

Fury has been wise to duck both the Klitscho brothers. If he were to step in the ring against one of them, he’d be talking through a straw for weeks following a devestating defeat.
Fury knows this as well and that’s why he’ll probably handpick another blown up cruiserweight to fight next.
Faced against a true super-heavyweight with any sort of skill, Fury loses. Against Wlad or Vitali, he’d get retired.

Seriusly I thod David Haye was over the hill with his cheap trash talks but at leas6t David Haye was something of quality in the ring. Tyson Fury is so far overated.
