Huck matched up pretty well with povetkin. I thought that fight was awesome. Povetkin looked like he didn’t take his cardio seriously for that bout and he eeked out a win. We have to remember povetkin beat eddie chambers and eddie can box. I think that remains povetkins best fight followed by huck. Povetkin hung in there. Red and outta breath to eek out a close decision. Although its been a long time coming I wouldn’t say the value of povetkins scalp has diminished and I believe kosta will have him in the best shape of his life and fight ready. I do believe when pov enters to fight wlad he will be the best povetkin we have ever seen.

At least Pocetkinnis not Mormeck or one of these other no name guys… But struggling with Cruisers (Huck) and facing Old Men while showing insane fear of the Klits has left him as an opponent with depleted cache… But Wlad should take that head and finally end him before he looks thru his Rolodex for the next ex sparring partner…

2 slick said :’ It’s like saying Chelsea FC spent so much money because they earned it from being able to draw in fans to cover the outlay. ‘ its simply called inveestment. If someone want to spend 23,333,330. $ there must be some expectation that those money will come back again along the way. After allo Wladimir is one of boxings superstar, and before you go on about how boring you think they are, its a fact that they always fill up soccerstadium´s.

Based on his most recent efforts, Sasha “Fatty” Povetkin has only one chance to beat Wladimir Klitschko and I don’t think Wlad will agree to turn his back while Povetkin hits him upside the head with a baseball bat. Povetkin’s people must have finally realized that Wlad is the real champion of the world and the only real money left to be made is in fighting the champion.

This isn’t about the true value involved though, unless the KGB chap thinks he can recoup that in Russia somehow. The Klits have never generated this amount before for a reason. This is not them drawing it’s a vanity project for another Russian mafia oligarch. It’s like saying Chelsea FC spent so much money because they earned it from being able to draw in fans to cover the outlay. Normal rules of economics don’t apply to these characters. Can’t see Pofatkin not finding a way out however.

Crazy bid. K2 won’t be in control, Team Klitschko won’t like this. But maybe finally this fight happens.

The purse is crazy, but it shows that the Klitschko´s are huge names and that they generate a lot of money. ;-)

This is still an easy fight for Wladimir. I dont even think Povetkin believes in his own chances in this fight. Wlad on KO in round 6.

Hope wlad smashes the fake champ

I go along with Tark’s comment about Atlas tihng. Kostya Tsziu could be a difference in AP corner. But I am afraid it might be to late in Povetkin’s carriere or too little time to improve everything.

People may not be dumb but “fight fan” surely is. Haye would have to 1) Show up, 2) throw pounches, 3) take punches and 4) bribe a ref to have ANY chance of KOing either Klitchko. Apart from item 4 iit ain’t likely to happen. Nutbar!

Fury wouldn’t have enough time to get nasty and dirty. Wlad would KO Fury in 4 or less

Posted April 24, 2013 11:35 pm

TARK

I am anxious to see the top heavyweights go at it. Pulev… Haye… Fury… There are 3 interesting fights to make between those 3 guys. But I believe Fury would get murdered, and there’s not much to choose between Pulev and Haye … Actually I really want to see Wladimir fight Pulev and Fury.. Pulev is strong, tough, skilled, and a powerful puncher … Fury will get nasty and dirty.

But those are the best fights in the division until Jennings and Wilder fight each other.

All the other fighthers will sit there, and get beat up, Haye is small heavyweight, yet can compete.

People are not dumb, Haye will knock all the other fighters out, bar the Klitschkos, if he get’s another chance he will knock them out as well, he has got the best chance of doing it still.

JT154lbsChamp

Just a personality? guy was a fighter. He also made Tyson who he was. He did the gruntwork that Cus couldnt do. I do agree that AP will be knocked cold but his style under Atlas looked Tysonish so to speak. Povetkin has no other chance but to bob n weave away from the punches and crack wlad in the face with counters. That style can beat anybody. If Atlas had AP to work with he would have been better. As I said before nobody has the experience to fight Wlad. All that can happen is a perfectly placed punch.

Posted April 24, 2013 9:23 pm

TARK

Atlas couldn’t teach Povetkin a damned thing because he doesn’t know anything … Teddy runs his mouth but he has no fights. He’s a personality guy who sounds authoritative and pissed off half the time. Guys like Povetkin can only put up with him for so long — because they’re find out they’re not getting a lot of substance. Povetkin is soft and needs a great strength trainer. His jab needs tons of work. His footwork could be sharper and cleaner. Most of all his defense has tons of holes.. David Haye is better in all of these areas… Wladimir will kill Povetkin… Povetkin will run for a while and get stretched out cold. It won’t be a contest with WK … I would think a guy like Kostya Tzysu could teach AP something, so we’ll see. Rahman wasn’t any kind of test to see if he learned anything.

Posted April 24, 2013 9:12 pm

JT154lbsChamp

I think Povetkins only shot at winning was to stick with Teddy. Atlas was going to teach him a style that would make the small window of victory against Wlad possible. A bobbing and weaving lunging hool thrower is all that is left. Wlad will beat any man on the outside. Get inside and her wrapped up. He has totally mastered the battle of distance. Povetkin would have atleast had a small chance. AP has no move left. Nice to see Wlad finally get to KO this guy.

Nobody has the experience to beat Wlad. He had 3 lesson learning defeats and more than 40 fights before he beat Bryd and solidified his top ranking at hwt. Nobody out there bsesides vitali can boast that kind of record. Povetkin fought nobody who could come close to preparin him for Wlad. In my opinion nobody has besides the guys he beat.

Haye against popular belief is the only guy I would want to see a rematch from. How much worse could the fight get. He took hayes best shot too late. After that he opened up. Wlad always dominates the rematch.

As for Pulev he just aint ready but will he ever be before Wlad retires. Magic 8 Ball says don count on it

Posted April 24, 2013 8:03 pm

ADL

Ruskull: He did, but I believe if Haye got another chance he would take chances and engage. With his ego, I think he would want to right the wrong. He doesn’t need the money. I think it would be about winning. I do not know if that would get him KO’d or make it a more competitive fight but I think it would be a more entertaining one. Still, probably the most entertaining fight that can be made at HW

Posted April 24, 2013 7:04 pm

Wladimir Klitschko backed away with his reach advantage and height advantage, don’t put all the Blame on David Haye, Wladimir Klitschko wanted his 50th KO, wouldn’t risk getting knocked out himself, he knew it.

Posted April 24, 2013 7:04 pm

212 – You’re touching yourself. Haye ran away from Wlad when he had the opportunity…………..

Posted April 24, 2013 6:22 pm

The bid does not mean anything until the money goes into escrow. Promoters make fake bids and default on bids all the time. A news article said that Vlad was not even exited when they told him, until the bidder actually deposits the money. Povetkin has turned down fights with Vlad before saying he was not ready. He will never be ready but a nice payday would be a good start for retirement.

I really hopes this happens. Ive been looking forward to a decent heavyweight title match for ages. If someone was to pull out this has to be rescheduled anyway. One question. If povetkin looses to we go back to just one WBA champion

Posted April 24, 2013 4:34 pm

Gumboot

IF this happens, and I have my doubts, Wlad wins by ko in 6-8. Povs pointless title and lack of credible opponents don’t add up to a boxer ready for one of the best 2 heavyweigts on the planet.

Posted April 24, 2013 3:34 pm

TARK

I guess Wladimir won’t be fighting Pulev or Fury until he’s 38 years old… Nothing interesting is going to be happening between then and now as far as Wladimir Klitschko fights are concerned … Povetkin will be as great an underdog as Leon Spinks was against Muhammad Ali.. So if age catches up to Wladimir unexpectedly, and his legs go against Povetkin, it could be a competitive fight…

Fat chance of that happening.

That dumpy little guy , the promoter got a little ahead of himself and was tripping all over his tongue , when he announced with a straight face that
Povetkin wanted this fight ” every day for the last six years ” . Oh yeah ?
You mean to say that the pudgy ” regular champion ” could not find time
from his ” busy ” schedule to fight the REAL Champion ? Gee what a shame ,
Wlad was ducking him , so he had to fight Huck , and other top ten contenders
since he could not get Wlad or Vitaly into the ring . Brave , fearless , destroyer
Povetkin .
