“he had a chance to win the MW Championship and he let himself lose the last 2 rounds against an aging Champ” This is true.

He should. Martinez had an off night — that’s all.

There’s no doubt Murray came in as a light Heavyweight.. easily in the hight 180′s – 190′s pulled a Chavez Jr. Canelo Tijuana Weight Trick…

Sergio is about done. He should have dominated Murray but came nowhere close to doing that–not even in his own back yard.

“Murray LOOKED about 20 lbs bigger than Martinez but he still couldn’t WIN decisively SO he doesn’t deserve a rematch. We can already see that he’s the LESSER man. Time for Sergio to move ON to the next one.” LOL and STFU Braggadamus. Martinez ran like a wounded chicken. Martinez eeked out a win over a guy who was hurting him regularly and beating him up. Martinez knows it too. So do you, fool.

John, good points people have VERY little sense of proportion during close fights and the FAVORED fighter his often dinged disproportionately for underperforming expectations… I remember when Marquez was a ridiculous 7-1 underdog to Pacquiao during the 3rd fight, when he made a scrap of it and clearly won some of the rounds people SWORE he beat Pacquiao from pillar to post when it was really a close fights where I could see the judges favoring either fighter…. Murray was NOT that convincing he did well, and Martinez did not look like his usual self but that does NOT mean it was some sort of epic robbery especially considering Martinez being the Champion.. Murray came up short he is NOT MW Champion and he may never be…

Why can’t people simply accept a loss and move on. Why should there be rematches. You both had enough time to prepare and both had equal opportuinity to win or lose. People are getting to used to Martinez KO’ing everyone. If he wins a close fight that means the other guy was also good. In this case he won, narrowly, but won ! Just looked better than Murray. Yeah, Murray got in a few good shots but Martinez has been down before no mystery here. Against Williams, Pavelick , Julia Chavez & the other Brit, the guy who’s fighting GGG next. So big whoops ! Everyone goes down now and then, it happens. Today its such an atrocity that its called ! OVER AND OVER “THATS THE FIRST TIME “X” HAS BEN DOWN IN HIS CAREER” ! SO WHAT ? HALF THE TIME THE KNOCKDOWNS ON REPLAY ARE SO CLEARLY SLIPS THAT ITS REDICULOUS ! So yeah, why should he offer a rematch- !

Murray has been on the road twice in World Title Challenges, to Germany to get a Draw and to Argentina to get an errm unlucky loss. Be great to see Murray get a title challenge at home next time….otherwise he may end up the new Glen Johnson.

Sergio should of taken an L when he fought Murray. Got him a home town decision. Nope he is now scared of Murray cause he knows he should of lost and got lucky with a home town decision.

Next should be GGG, Canelo, Geale, or Quillin.

I have to say, the Brits make great use of the words “massive” and “brilliant.” Gotta admit, they’re better than “sick” and “bad.” LMAO! But back on topic, Murray is right, Martinez won’t offer him a rematch. Murray hurt him too much.

TARK

There would have been a riot if they gave it to Murray… Maravellia was celibrating, laughing it up, standing up on the ropes and riding shoulders before the decision was announced..

That was a way of saying, “There’s 50,000 people in this arena. I’m claiming victory and the celebration has already started. If you stupid jackasses don’t give me the decision you’ll never get out of here alive.”

I doubt it too. I think Sergio is close to the end.

TRIPLE GGG

not only will “maravilla”$”diblla” not rematch martin murray but he will not rematch chavez jr and he will duck triple g “maravilla is finished as a fighter just like pacquiao

Everybody expects every one of his fights to be a KO ! Name ANY fighter this side of a Y-O-U-N-G Mike Tyson of whom that could be asked ! Manny, Floyd, Ward, Donaire all get points decisions MOSTLY ALL THE TIME, why is Sergio expected to be any different. He wins, and won this fight as well.

As if close decision have NEVER gone to the hometown fighter??? I mean, c’mon, this is NOTHING new….how many times do we hear commentators say “well, he can’t rely on the judges here in his opponents back yard”, I’m not saying it’s right, but some of y’all act as though this was/is the FIRST time this has ever happened. Bottom line is that the fight was close, yes, but there was NO robbery, Murray could’ve, would’ve and should’ve let his hands go a lot more in the early going, but he didn’t, TOO BAD!

Sergio tripped over Murray”s foot on the first knockdown! However, the second should have been ruled a knockdown. I still had Martinez winning the fight 115-112. It was not a robbery!

Camelot has already called out Martinez. Martinez attempts to stay clear of real threats. Unfortunately he is not elite so when he is in these showcase fights that he constantly has he still struggles

Jecko Falklands 1982

Murray was robbed. Two knock downs a massive cut and still not enough points. Judges must have been blind or watching a different fight.

Martinez needs to call out Cinnamin Buns.. aka Canelo… let’s see if Cinnabum can fight someone his size..

Of course Martinez will not fight you again. He thought he had a showcase fight but yet had to get a home town decision to get a win

def some good ol fashioned home town cooking ,you could smell it from miles away,my man Sergio Martinez lost that fight, but i do appreciate him and hope he can end his chapter in his book of life with a few big paydays…yuuup!

This is the kind of loss that’s really more of a win. Everyone knows Murray gave Martinez hell, and maybe if he had done a little more in the last couple rounds even the hometown judging wouldn’t have stopped him from getting a deserved UD. In any case, Sergio is on borrowed time now and Murray should just challenge another titlist, like, I don’t know, GGG. All I can say to him with that match-up is ‘good luck!’

if the fight was in England Murray would have got it,it was a home town decision, My respect for Martinez has plummeted ,WTF was he doing getting the crowd to chant Argentina while the judges were deliberating the score cards, pathetic, smells like ass if you ask me.

Sergio won the fight, it was close but not close enough to swing either way. Sergio had a broken hand, his body is breaking down on him. He is a legend but he is on the slide. When he Ko’d Paul Williams he was at the top of the game. He like Vitali have injuries from other sports and father time is catching up on him.

Sergio is great for boxing I hope he goes out on a win.

Murray was robbed.

Murray gave an excellent account of himself and I would like to see him in the future against other middleweights. But it’s not as if Murray won a clear-cut, one-sided boxing match. It was good and it was close. Murray could now raise his stock by NOT complaining about the decision. It went against him and that’s it. There was no v
blatant robbery. I’m surprised at Hatton among others.

I doubt he will aswell…..lets see.
