Using my name to insult Mayweather won’t help. Mayweather is the greatest boxer of all time.

Some absolutely disgusting racism on here, and from both sides.

@Duran~So spelling isn’t one of my strong points! You call me a liberal sissy but it’s the liberals that are trying to get imigration reform passed so your fellow country men can live here legally. You’re so blinded with hate that you don’t know what side to be on and you have the nerve to call ma a retard!

@Duran(A.K.A Mexicant) You care! That’s why you keep responding to my posts. you know I’m better than you and I’ll prove it. If you don’t responde to me than I win because I say what I want I you’ve shut the hell up and if you responde you contradict your last post showing how ignorant you really are.

@Duran(A.K.A Mexicant)~ You’re right! Like a little bug you can’t get rid of, in your face not going anywhere. I’m still here regardless of your hate and gile. Dispise me Duran hate me and all the while I smile and know I’m better than you, not because of yours or my race because you hate for no reason you will always be second class. Poor excuse for a Mexican. I’m sure real Mexicans look at you with great pride that you represent them so well. Lol. You are little more than a bad joke!

Ok. Pillowfist, I hear you. Anyway the post below using my name was made by Duran.

Posted May 6, 2013 4:53 pm

PILLOWFIST

@Proud African~ Don’t fall for the hatred and ignorance. Making the statement that Mexicans can’t run is foolish. Did you know that the Taramerah tribe(spelling) ,The tribe Ponce de Leon is from has records for distance running. One person ran over 400 miles in a 2 day period. Bottom line, every race, culture has accomplishments to be proud of and histories to be ashamed of. I’d like to think that humanity has come to a point in which we can except people for who they are and embrace our differences with curiosity not ridicule. From the posts written here today, I see humanity has some more growing to do. We’ll get there!

I’m pretty sure if we met face to face you’d show a greater respect than you show on this sight. Not because I’m a bad ass because people generally aren’t outwardly disrespectful to others unless disrespected first. Since I’m generally a cool dude I don’t think you would act like this.

Duran – the terms Hispanic and Latino are cultural Ethnic identifications.. Thats why you see them on the USA Census.. Mexicans are Hispanics, Puerto Ricans are latinos, the only True Spanish Citizens in the USA for over 100 years.. Cubans and Dominicans are also considered Latinos.. Mexicans will never be Latinos.. sorry just a fact..

Posted May 6, 2013 11:13 am

Duran…I don’t know anything about that. I just know what Puerto Ricans where I from have told me. Because I’ve heard them talking nasty about mexicans so I asked them why they hated ya’ll so much. And everytime a fighter from Puerto Rico (including those with African Blood) steps in the ring with a mexican fighter…they seem to hate & want them to kill you. That’s not my view of you. I personally feel both sides have great fighter. Just saying what they’ve told me

Posted May 6, 2013 10:49 am

Duran…I don’t know if you know this…but most Puerto Ricans can’t stand Mexicans. Not in New York anyway. They actually call ya’ll “ugly ignorant little dirty yellow monkeys”. They don’t even think you’re worthy of s h i t t i n g on. That’s why Garcia loved smashing in the face of Morales. Because he was mexican. I personally don’t view you that way & like all people. But I figured I should let you Know since you keep mentioning them with praise. I think you should just stick with praising your own kind. Margo, Marquez & guys like that. Just tryna help ya out buddy

In Puerto Rico there’s a famous Bronze Statue showing three individuals, a Spaniard an Indian and an African depicting their Pride in their Cultural Racial Makeup and diversity which they call being Proud Latinos.. the term didn’t even exist until Puerto Ricans started referring to themselves as latinos.. Where is anything like this in Mexico?? depicting their pride for their African Heritage?? ROFLM-True Latino-AO…

TARK

@Adrian… Calvin Brock was never a good boxer because he never had a good trainer.. His dad was his primary coach and that doesn’t work if you’ve never boxed.. Boxing is the only sport with so many trainers who never competed in the sport they’re teaching.. People just impose themselves on this game because it’s so disjointed and unorganized.. Angelo Dundee never boxed.. He was a personality guy with a lot of connections who knew how to con people.. Calvin Brock had a stance where his hips and shoulders were misaligned.. He looked awkward, fought awkward, and if you saw his fight with Eddie Chambers you saw who easy he was to hit by an good technical boxer. Robert Guerrero taught himself how to fight. His dad was such a poor technician that he really can’t teach. RG is a super tough man. That’s the only thing that saves him when getting blasted with 60% of the power punches his opponent throws. Joe Calzaghe’s dad never fought. I saw Joe get his hands wrapped and it was atrocious. No wonder he broke his hands so many times. He was a brawler who had great speed. His stance was so bad he had no outside game. He couldn’t jab or throw a straight left well, so his option was to brawl with very short fighters like Jeff Lacy—but his speed allowed him do dodge inept punches and score with flurries of hooks and uppercuts. If he faced a real good boxer like Andre Ward his number would have been up. Ward had 20 fights when he faced Kessler, and he didn’t get hit with a single big punch while peppering Kessler with everything. Kessler won rounds off of Calzaghe, even though you can easily see everything he throws if you have good skills.

Floyd praised Guerrero more than Robert praised Floyd… All of Guerrero’s promises to humble the sport of Boxing and humble Floyd all proved to be a lot of hot air…and you talked so big and didn’t deliver. What you did was talk about God and religion and God putting you here, but you should say God didn’t put you here to humble Floyd Mayweather after all. That you were mistaken. You should give it to your conqueror and find a little humility.. Floyd put on a masterful performance and it’s something you should acknowledge and really I’m not surprised you didn’t. For guys like you it’s all about you. You were cordial, but talked about fighting Floyd again and thinking you could do better. You had months to prepare for this one and got owned. The effort wasn’t strong enough to deserve a rematch. You hit the lottery fighting Floyd, so just go enjoy your money and count your blessings.

Sredmond – lol you are something else ,I never inject race in boxing of anywhere I WAS the one who asked you why you were Injecting race bellony argument by bringing up and bashing klitchko in this thread ,you are the one who has race issue and last night I definetly realized that by your comments here … As for the klitchko I can tell you one thing ,they cleaned the devision like no one before them and that’s why they fight mandatory fighters that they are suppose to fight and no no one can say they duck anyone, chambers Brock ibrahimov they are gone because klitchko retired them, haye supposed to be his biggest threat to the haters he proved them wrong and btw Brock suppose to have been a weak haveyweight after klitchko knocked him out cold in the eyes of klitchko “critics” ? I am glad you think differently and you mention him still because I always thought he was a huge talent just ended up fighting an all time great WLADIMIR KLITCHKO !!!!!

Wow! Floyd haters are now calling Robert Guerrero–a multi-divisional champion who only lost one fight before facing Mayweather a tune-up? See this is the problem with facing Mayweather for fighters. Because when they lose, the so-called fans who was cheering for them, betrays them and discredits their career, just because they don’t want to give Floyd any credit for being clearly the greatest boxer of his life time. When will you haters realize, your excuses are not hurting Floyd Mayweather or his legacy. Its only hurting the opponents he faces. They go in the right a boxer with the hope and dreams of phony boxing fans of beating Mayweather. They leave; frauds, cherry-picked, too old, a tune-up, etc, etc. I feel sorry for Mayweather’s challengers if they didn’t get their biggest pay day fighting Floyd.

That stoppage was definitely premature!!! Nady literally stopped Ponce from punching to end the action… Given the nature of the combatants he should have been allowed to continue I felt Alvarados stoppage against Rios was more justified than last night…Ponce had been hurt no question about it, but he’s a warrior and was fighting back… Mares gained additional cache with me last night no so much of his skills which were often abandoned but due to his grit and willingness to go into the wheelhouse with the presumed heavier hitter De Leon… Rigondeaux might be all wrong for him, lightening fast and super technical he shocked me against Donaire

Posted May 5, 2013 12:29 pm

te tumbo

i favored Ponce but i’m not dissapointed that Mares won even though i think it was a premature stoppage. otherwise, Mares looked Mayweatheresque the way he handled Ponce but what was most impressive was how he was able to shrugg-off Ponce’s powerpunches. in fact, i noted the surprise in Ponce’s face as well. the move-up in weight actually favored Mares who looked stronger with both feet solidly planted on the canvas throughout the bout. his sudden quickness, which is how he turned the tide on a surging Ponce was also very impressive. at this point, it’s almost not fair but Mares may be on a collision course with Mikey Garcia, which would be a wicked matchup but hopefully he gets his shot v. Rigondeuax first for irrefutable featherweight dominance.

This wasn’t a tune-up people. FM had to fight him or lose the WBC strap because RG was the interim champ to FM’s championship. Also, since when did the Ring Magazine belt get put on the line for a tune-up? Ring has very specific policies for placing their belt on a fight.

Mayweather has been making guys look like “tuneups” for 17 years when is it time to accept greatness for what it is? A tuneup for Floyd is a multi-weight champ who was close to 7 years younger facing a 36 year old boxer..Canelo has FEWER credentials than Guerrero at World level and he’s far greener, but the real story is Alvarez size… Floyd’s a perfect WW fighter, meanwhile his two most difficult fights in recent years came at 154 against Cotto and Oscar who eked out a card…If Floyd fights Canelo he’s gonna run circles around him which is smart because Alvarez is too big to trade with and guys are gonna scream bloody murder… Canelo cannot fight like Floyd he ONLY has a punchers chance… I went for him against Trout and Alvarez looked very beatable with questionable stamina…

Love-the-Sport

I have scanned some of the comments on this board and I would say 99% of you guys are just morons. You guys just want to hate Mayweather because you hate Mayweather. I mean you guys are just stupid. Let me try to be balanced.

This was a tune-up fight for Mayweather. It was not a major fight for Mayweather the top pound-for-pound fighter against another top 5 or top 10 pound-for-pound fighter. It was a a tune-up because Mayweather had been in jail and Mayweather is older and Mayweather had not fought in a year. It was a tune-up. So, I don’t give Maywether that much credit. But I also don’t say that Mayweather is all hype. Mayweather turned a solid fighter into a meaningless tune-up. He looked amazingly fast. He looked amazingly accurate. He looked like the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world and maybe the best technical fighter in the history of the sport. Mayweather looked great. But, to be fair, it really was just a tune-up.

Had he won he would have been a star due to Floyd’s standing it’s called opportunity cost or he could have gone back to fighting for relative peanuts, if he’s lucky maybe the PPV is strong and he nets another 1 million or so… Not bad for 36 mins of humiliation

Floyd will go toe to toe with Guerrero the way he wants it. Guerrero will be surprised by how hard MONEY. Hits and by the 6th rd. he’ll be running from Floyd. By the 9th the cornerof Guerrero, plus the referee. Will step in and stop the fight. Mayweather wins by T.K.O.

Unless you are a Floyd Mayweather fan or a delusional fan that actually thought Guerrero had a chance to land that lucky punch I cannot imagine why anyone would have paid 70.00 for this fight card. Anyone that knows boxing should have known that Guerrero was completely overmatched. The under card did not have the potential to be good either. Old Ponce de Leon never had a chance against Mares. I am glad I did not waste my time or money and if you are going to tell me that I missed some kind of boxing artistry, well, you have to actually fight somebody great for it to be artistry and Guerrero is not great, so who cares.

Abner Mares looked bad vs an old worn Deleon – JuanMa took an unbeaten Healthy Ponce Deleon and knockedhimdafkout in 1 round… Abner looked like sht in last nights fight.. the first knockdown came as a result of an Abner Mares Forearm to the top of Ponce Deleons Head and the second time Ponce got hurt was while seperating from Dirty Mares.. the fight was gifted to Mares because there was no need to stop the fight.. Ponce was fighting back and not hurt… and old worn Ponce Deleon was beginning to wear down Abner who was looking like he was ready to get knockedout… Cuban Rigo would beat the living Sht out of Mares and so would Broner… even JuanMa would take out Abner… Abners credibility in the Ring took a serious hit last night…

Sredmond- you obviously didn’t read my comment about the weight issue….
Leave bs aside when it comes to mayweather fighting Canelo it all depends if mayweather wants to stay as a 154 pound champion , if he wants to stick around at that weight then he should fight the top fighters at that weight like Canelo and trout ,there is nothing else to it!!!!!
If he wants to stay at ww than its ok and I understand but claiming that he is the best at 154 and complaining about a live opponent like Canelo and trout about theif weight is pure bs!!!! You can’t have it both ways!!!
Btw klitchko are dominating the world for exactly 10 years a decade and they beat everyone bums or not and sorry about that because I see now that with you it’s all about race since you brought up klitchko in here and bashed him ,again sorry bro about the klitchkos and really it must hurt to haters that they cant find someone who could be their hated race !!! Pathetic !

Vitali and Wladimir Klitshko:
Not a single Hall of Famer in their combined records!!!!!!!
How about that? Ugh?
The only time Vitali faced a HoFamer, he was TKOed!

There is a line of thought that believe that Boxing writers comprise those D-student in journalism who have been rejected elsewhere….
I tend to agree with that, for what rationale do they use to include the Klits in the p4p list?
They only win because they are oversized.
The proof?
Name a single belt holder in any weight class Wladimir or Vitali would beat if they had the same size….
You see? The proof is in the pudding…
If you have trouble finding one….how come they are p4p material?

Fight night Wrap up.. Guererro got exposed by Mayweather as another Mexican sht talkin Tough Man limited skills plodder.. Ponce Deleon had his Belt Gifted to Abner Mares by the worse Ref in Boxing Jay Nady.. Abner was starting to fade and looked bad vs old worn Deleon.. That Mexican kid beat an old Venezuelan 3 divisions smaller then him… Rosado got robbed after putting Mayweathers fighter on his ASS and on the Bike… all in all a good night of fights…

Look at Guerreros face to see if Floyd didn’t fight.. Floyd was ready to knock Gurerro out when he started going to that soft body of Guerrero.. Guerrero was folding like a soft shell taco.. but lucky for the Mexican, Floyd backed off and took it easy on him…

All Floyd has to do to make sure Canelo doesn’t pull a south of the border fast one is demand either same day weighin or post weighin weight gain limits.. he also has to demand random blood testing and make sure he checks canelos wraps for any Tijuana glove loading tricks..

Anonymous, people that walked out were idiots because they thought this would be a slugfest. As soon as FM brought his dad back as head trainer, we all knew what was going to happen. He even said he took too much abuse from Cotto, so we all knew that he was going back to a more defensive style. Even though he was more defensive, he was still getting off first and landed 60% of his power shots. That’s just insane.

Posted May 5, 2013 8:14 am

I would like to see FM Canelo, though. If FM won, it would make him the reigning champion at 147 and 154. That’s not a common feat.

Guerrero may have said FM didn’t get into his head during the pre-fight hype, but he did. Guerrero was pissed going into the ring and I knew then he was going to lose. Mad fighters made mistakes and RG made loads. If FM starts fighting twice a year, he’s going to be even more dominant. He showed no signs of age last night and I don’t see anyone at 147 or 154 beating him anytime soon. I imagine DLH will have Broner in the ring with him within 24 months, and that could be an interesting match-up because of their styles and speed and FM being older. I bet DLH is counting on this too. As for Canelo. Yes, he looked good against Trout, but it was a close fight and Trout is no FM. FM will have a few scary moments with Canelo because of his power punching and elusiveness, but FM will crack his style in 3 rounds and do what he does best. I don’t FM losing anytime soon.

SREDMOND, You are right about Floyd vs Canelo.

Posted May 5, 2013 7:47 am

SREDMOND

Guys lets face it you are REALLY Scrambling! If FMJ stays at his best fighting weight of 147 he’s not gonna lose so naturally you guys want the scales to possibly do what no ones skills can… Bigger fighters outweighing you by a lot bring bigger danger and the hope is his skills can be negated by body mass hence guys pushing for MW fights against a guy who weighed 148 or so 30 days out and 146 at weigh in…. Face it Canelo it does not matter Mayweather would defeat the relatively plodding Alvarez and you guys would cry and cry because he did not stand and trade with a bigger fighter who would be slower and susceptible to Angles… I’m just telling you when Floyd shreds Alvarez you’re gonna be even more upset… Canelo did not unbeatable against Trout by a long shot, Floyd’s not as big buy he’s way quicker and knows more about boxing than Alvarez likely ever will… Canelo could be a Berto type in no time, getting too hyped in new guys is a fools errand…

Adrian, that’s BS not every fighter gets in the ring spotting a guy 20 pounds that’s ALOT… That’s essentially fighting a guy 3 divisions above you.. Again if FMJ who has NEVER been more than 151 fight night was 20 pounds heavier than an opponent you nuts would storm he castle with pitchforks and torches… But if he’s on the downside of 20 pounds “hey no big deal” it’s Floyd… If Guerrero had been off for a year, was 36, did 2 months in prison that would be the excuse for his loss… But Floyd taking what are usually negatives and winning garners him no praise or credit from detractors? The pattern is clear but thankfully he just keeps on winning in style…

Of course there is no mention of Wlad Klitschkos woeful defense against an ex employee… It’s been years since Wlad had a solid opponent unless you consider previously unheard of boxers like Wach, Pianeta something to be excited about?? Or Mormeck a GROSSLY undersized washed up Cruiser who was 40 and 2 years inactive?? Or prior victim and former sparring partner Tony Thompson who was 41 and showed he could not contend with Wlad before… The Klits can barely register outside of Germany when there are no other events but a Floyd Mayweather bout immediately puts them on the BACK page of any boxing or Sports related periodical…No other PPV would realistically be scheduled going against Floyd but the Klits have no real fan base here so they make a few dollars facing a sparring partner in Germany… But then again why are we discussing the NOW lowly HW division??

Posted May 5, 2013 7:20 am

SREDMOND

Bears and everyone else keep saying that GGG is “a beast” “a beast against WHO” Golovkin has not beaten anyone that’s on the map to my knowledge… What serious world class opponent??? GGG is in the same category at 160 as Keith Thurman is at 147, good looking prospect with very good power but largely untested at their respective weights… GGG and others are discussed with mythical reverence but they are still guys essentially building records and gaining experience… Canelo is a cut above that having beaten Trout he and a GGG make for an excellent fight… Again we KNOW all roads eventually lead to WW but Floyds not dumb he’s not going 2 divisions above his best weight to please people who would not be pleased anyway… You know he would end up pot shotting a bigger fighter and the whining would commence…. Ray Leonard was not knocking out prime time fighters above 147, certainly not Hagler or Norris who schooled him when he was 2 years OLDER than Floyd…

Seeing Floyd has said his hand was injured in the fight, I’d say let’s wait and see.. He may just call it quits.. or really dodge a few guys if the hand is a continuing problem. Cause nto the first time his hand has had issues in a fight. Other than that he did great. I think Guerrero did well, but guess Floyd’ speed was too much. But he did do good. Props to them both. Canelo vs Floyd could pull in 2.5M and Canelo deserves a much better deal than Guerrero as he has a much bigger following amongst his pips even though his ticket prices went for a much lower price.

Bred- triple g is a beast that’s says hecan make 154. I don’t know enough about his and ards weights but I know if they fought I would consider it a super fight most likely depending on the weight thing. Mayweather is holding a title at 154 so he’s more than fair game for anyone that can make 154. genady golovkin is a TRIPLE BEAST! He’s like vtaly klitschko in some ways. He’s never been knocked down or out and he boasts like the beast ko %. He’s the kind of guy floyd fanboys fear worse than canelo cause he’s such a powerhouse. I don’t know but golovkin is getting the following going. Everyone should be watching him. With stats like what he has he’s a train. A beast. A triple beast. I think ggg is gonna stop macklin for the first time. In terms of ggg fighting ward I will have to look at it and get back to you

Happyboy notice I said WAS not is. So your theory is if you lose you can’t be a great fighter??? In that case there’s only ever been Floyd and Marciano who were great fighters. The best lose to the best when they’re not scared to put it on the line. He also beat Morales and Barrera twice in their prime 2 of the best ever, he moved up weight classes and DESTROYED much bigger world class opponents.
I also said he’s not the same fighter anymore so your argument is weak and in that case Floyd got a gift against De La Hoya most people thought he lost. The fact is Pacquiao fought the better, more dangerous opponents, whereas Mayweather was always safety 1st who has he fought who was really dangerous??? I rest my case

Happyboy -we can’t change the rules of boxing for mayweather ,if he thinks he is the best at 154 then there shouldn’t be any excuse of who should mayweather fight as long as they weigh in at 154 ? If mayweather thinks Canelo is to big then he don’t belong at 154 very simple!

Posted May 5, 2013 4:27 am

Adrian

Q-nice answer ….mayweather knocked on canelos door when he fought cotto for a title ,Canelo was already there so does Canelo gave to fight mayweather and beat him in order for him to claim that he cleaned the devision Or you don’t consider mayweather worthy and to small at 154?

Canelo comes to the ring at over 170, the guy wouldn’t be a good option for Floyd.

Posted May 5, 2013 4:19 am

I wouldn’t mind watching Canelo vs Floyd just as long there’s a rehydration clause,172lbs is just too big for a guy coming up from 130lbs with the heaviest weight being 151lbs.

Posted May 5, 2013 4:18 am

Dan D

Q- Martinez at 154 is a fight Mayweather could genuinely win. I don’t believe Sergio to be too big, although he is the larger fighter, granted. They could stipulate that the fighters weigh in at 154 and enter the ring at no more than 160, something like that? I think Martinez is ready to be picked. He can box still, but Floyd is a better boxer.

B red – I wish they do to but if they move up they can’t “chose” who to fight and claim they are the best at that weight and dome are to big for them to fight them …my point is is you move up and want to stay a champion than don’t complain who is “big” at that weight!!!!
You can’t have it both ways !! If mayweather wants to stay at 154 than there is no excuse for him not to fight Canelo or trout but if he don’t want to be a champion at that weight than no one should ask for Canelo or trout fight …

another boring win for mayweather – despite all his talent i will never understand why people call him great – a great boxer for me will never be somebody who bores me everytime i Watch him – also Guerrero is very average guy
i dont deny mayweather talent which definitely outstanding but there is never any passion in his fights
for me talent is not enough to make a guy great – really need to have bit more passion and excitment when you see him fight
also will always hold agnst mayweather fact that fight agnst prime pacquiao never happened – guess he knew that prime pacquiao could beat him (although he obvioulsy could have won) and he would never take that risk –
this said mayweather is a very very talented guy but he does not do as much as he could – he does not give it all

B red if ggg jumps to any other weight and fight one boxer and than claim he is to small for others than that’s all bs because if you fight anyone at any weight you should fight all at that weight but until he is not fight anyone at higher weights than that’s his call!
Dawson was the one who called out ward but ward only agreed To fight at his weight wich I don’t blame him si fe he was t the one who asked for the fight and is a champion at that weight!

The fact is if manny vs Floyd does happen now it will be 3 years too late.
The Manny Pacquiao that beat Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, De La Hoya would have provided Floyd with his biggest problems to date and in my opinion would have beat him.
That Pacquiao was the best fighter of this generation, unfortunately since getting involved in politics Manny just doesn’t have the same hunger anymore.
That’s the big difference is Floyd god is money and due to that he never let’s it slip, PAC doesn’t seem to have the motivation anymore hasn’t had looked good in 5 fights and is definitely on the decline, so if they did meet Mayweather would beat him easily.
I really can’t see a real test out there for Floyd unless he declines dramatically in the next 30 months. When he reflects on his career he’s gotta be remembered for finding anyway he could to get out of fighting Pacquiao in his prime and that will go against him

Happyboy — what weight they fought Canelo vs trout?? 154 and what weight is mayweather a champion also ???154 so if he wants to be a champion at 154 than he should fight those guys if not than I understand he should just throw the belts and fight at 147 very simple …
Chavez came over 180 pounds against Martinez and you can’t do nothing about it if you make weight in the weigh in …

Nooooo! Please do not mention Floyd in a real fight with Canelo or Pacquiao or anyone who is not a featherweight or a broken old fighter! That would ruin our plan to fleece America with $70 dollar mis-matches featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. We think the best fight for Floyd is to put him with a natural and ranked welterweight… We are proud to announce ‘Bad Blood” featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr vs his Uncle Roger Mayweather, the loser has to leave the Mayweather family.

And Trouble: Against Canelo, Floyd will run and gun and pot shot for cheap points, like he did Guerrero… He won’t dare give Canelo a “fight”, Pacquiao either, for that matter. Because Pacquiao is the only one with the aggressiveness to walk Floyd down and make him fight, more than Cotto did.

@Trouble: Trout is about as fast a Floyd and throws WAY more punches… And Canelo still made him miss a lot… Plus, Floyd does not have even close to the power needed to test Canelo’s chin.

I’m proud to announce Floyd Mayweather’s next opponent. It gives me great pleasure to present to the gullible boxing public…..Floyd Mayweather vs Mia St. John! They will fight at a catch-weight of 150 lbs. This fight will increase boxing’s female audience and keep Floyd’s record perfect!

Adrian… I meant to say Yep… I agree with you by asking how was Mayweather too small? It was BS… He ducked everybody.

Posted May 5, 2013 3:05 am

Trouble

I don’t think Floyd is too small for Canelo. I think it’s gonna shock Canelo fans if they ever fight. I think it’ll be just like Ali/Foreman…& Canelo will be playing the part of Foreman. He’s use to hitting with his big punches & not getting hit. I knew there was something wrong with him when he was proud of himself for surviving a headbutt from old Shane. He said he was because he had never been cut before. Basically…he’s never actually been in a fight. I say he’ll fold as soon as he is

Posted May 5, 2013 3:03 am

Old Coot

Adrian: How was Mayweather too small to face the top of the WW crop? When he got there he was two inches taller than Pacquiao when he did and Pac was willing to face them… And how are do you as an undefeated WW not need to fight the other undefeated WWs? If Floyd was “too small” for WW, he could have fought at catchweights. Otherwise he should have stayed at LWW.

Come on Old Coot. They were placing Berto in the top 3 p4p in the world before the Ortiz Fight. Guerrero just made Berto’s face look like a mushroom in their last fight. And Floyd comes & beats both the guys who gave Berto total hell…..like they we’re nothing more than a sparring session. The man has to be a pretty good fighter

Vernon Forrest put Shane down too and like Pacquaio he did not keep him down… Like I said Andre Berto knocked out WAY more WWs than Pacquaio.. Face it Mannys gotta rebuild now he didn’t lose on points Marquez almost killed him… Floyd outclassing absent Manny booking some wins would be dismissed… He has to do something about that Marquez loss even Roy Jones fought ill fated rematches with Tarver in an attempt to restore the lost luster… Besides let’s get real Goldenboy, and promotions don’t work with Top Rank and vice versa… Donaire and Mares could never meet because of this fcking blood feud…

boxing barlow: No… It’s not just you… Floyd as used any manner of shenanigans to keep his zero intact. Let’s see… Floyd fake retired to- Avoid a rematch with De La-Hoya, prime undefeated Cotto, prime undefeated (pre-cheat) Margarito, and a prime undefeated Paul Williams… Then he use false accusations to avoid Pacquiao.

Adrian…I felt trout beat him more convincingly too. But as I said….this is still a business. Was that fight on ppv? No? What about Trout against Canelo? Was that? I actually didn’t think that Canelo victory was all that impressive. And fighters gear up according to who they fight. I can assure you that Cotto did not prepare for Trout the way he did for Floyd. He might have had his hands raised in the end if he did

Posted May 5, 2013 2:43 am

Adrian

Sredmond – don’t forget when Mosley tried to trade with paqiao early in the fight he got dropped and after that he run all night and looking to survive ..if paqiao didn’t stop those guys you mentioned at ww he surely punished them with speed and that’s one other thing that could give mayweather big problems ,paqiaos speed and punching power …
I am not saying paqiao would win he could lose but it is a very intriguing fight and everyone would like to see that fight more than Guerrero or Ortiz …

Posted May 5, 2013 2:42 am

Trout beat Cotto coming DIRECTLY off a loss to Mayweather and Trout is BIG for 154 he went on record and said “Canelos too big for Floyd, I’m big for the weight and he was right there with me” Cottos bigger than FMJ but smaller than Trout or Canelo, meanwhile there was talk of Canelo looking at Cotto after Miguel booked 2 losses in a row!!! Mayweather took him when he was WINNING A superior accomplishment to Trout for the aforementioned reasons…

And you gullible people still think he’s a great fighter… A great con-artist yeah… A great fighter? NO!… That is except when he avoids real tests by hand-picking shut outs like Guerrero.

Posted May 5, 2013 2:39 am

SREDMOND

No it’s really NOT that simple Floyd Champion at WW where he fights primarily, if they fight then fine by me… To his credit the reason Canelo fought Trout was detractors were pointing out he was facing guys not native to the weight HIS early career.. I like Canelo his skills are not close to Floyds the only things in his favor are 14 years and 20 pounds fight night… I’d Floyd fights Cotto who was 4 years younger and BIGGER than FMJ who NEVER weighs the 154 pound limit in his 2 JR MW bouts spaced 6 years apart… Again the standards shift because we are discussing the Greatest fighter in boxing… Whatever let them fight, this one JUST ended let the man take a shower… Good grief..

Adrian, Pacquiaos punching power at 147 is more myth and hang over from his days at 140 and below… I know you will equivocate but he produced two TKOs at WW and Clottey, Margo, Bradley, Marquez 2x and Shane Mosley ALL saw the bell!! All these fighters put together don’t have Mayweathers defense… So Mannys punching power is NOT that specia at 147… My point is that guys set these inconsistent metrics that they constantly violate… I have a strong command of the facts and if that angers some so be it… At this point Manny needs to rehab himself he would be a 4-1 underdog coming straight off that KO to Marquez, a crude fighter like Provodnikov (former PAC sparring partner) had Bradley in more trouble than PAC even though Manny was badly robbed…

Adrian…the world just discovered who Trout was. & most of the world still doesn’t know. You’re acting like the guy’s been beating down every top name fighter out there for the last 10 yrs. He just got a little attention because he beat Cotto in a decision. And Look! He lost his very next fight. So what are you talking about? That’s what I mean about Floyd haters. The man has fought names. Canelo hasn’t. The biggest name he fought was an old Shane. They’re gonna let him build a little more. He’s not a PPV attraction every fight like Pac was. This is a business. If Canelo can beat a coupler more big names…the fight has the potential to put 100 mill in Floyd’s pocket…& more than Canelo would make if they would have fought today too. Do you really think he’s gonna take 30 instead just to make you happy?

TruthTeller, you raise a good point the knock on Canelo is that he was only feasting on guys he was bigger than ie Jose Miguel Cotto, shopworn Cintron, beyond cooked Mosely wh had not win in years, Josesito Lopez… We know Canelo walks around big, why ONLY talk of a WW who did not even weigh the limit tonight (146) why no discussions of Kirkland, Lara, Martirosiyan or even El Perro? Martinez or GGG at 160? Canelos just starting out but the only name we are hearing is a WW… Again if Floyd fights him fine but if Canelo wants to dispel the notion that absent Trout he primarily seeks out smaller men it might be time to broaden his horizons… But with the $$$ involved it will eventually happen if Canelo does not curse himself and lose because he did NOT look unbeatable to me against Trout… Mayweather is 36 with better late round stamina than that kid…

KING Mayweather made a barbaric sport look absolutely ARTISTIC and SMOOTH! To his credit Guerrero kept coming forward like Rocky Balboa, seemingly with the attitude “it aint over till its over,” but the thing is, he was absolutely OUTCLASSED by the VIRTUOSO of the squared circle!! All the DELUSIONAL talk of extra power from above – was just that – delusional talk! Its an honor to see an athlete like Mayweather perform with such fluidity & poise as he easily DOMINATED a worthwhile champ that was determined! Mayweather has learned, and is still learning from his mistakes in & out the ring, and is turning out to be one of the most CLASSIEST BRILLIANT artists in the game – in sports on a WHOLE!!! I’m gonna miss this dude like I did Michael Jordan when he eventually hangs em’ up for good!! Giving his pops that genuine gracious appreciation for the refresher course in defense was truly respectful & humbling to say the least….BIG UP to KING SKILZ MAYWEATHER…..21 GUNSHOT SALUTE!!!….BRING OUT THE BUGLES!!!……Bring at least two CANNONS!!!

b red- i dont hate the guy. im a boxing fan. i wanna see the best fights available and to me guerrero doesnt register. faded cotto didnt either. little marquez wouldve been a huge stretch at that point to beat may. may can fight the best available and get his due. or he can garbage hunt and get what the garbage hunting yields. 154 is where its at. or pacman at 147………maybe broner will come up then mayweather will be surrounded on two fronts with nowhere to go but RETIREMENT. as a fake. i certainly hope it doesnt play out like that but if it does it will destroy may’s legacy. he must fight canelo now and if broner comes up fast to squeeze may at 147 that would be JUST AWESOME FOR BOXING. inbetween those 2 fronts its might be likely that floyd would just retire. but it would be the perfect recipe to drag floyd out into the light. anymore how can you not think 50 cent was right about mayweather? isnt it obvious at this point with the approved cherry picked showtime approved opponents list? of course it is

CLOWNS wanted Mayweather to fight Pacman who started at 106 pounds had a draw with Marquez at 126 pounds and is much shorter with a shorter reach than Guerrero? Make up you minds guys be consistent or at least clever… These SAME guys are drooling to see Mayweather who by definition would be a blownup 130 pounder face Alvarez who is 14 years younger and weighs 172 on fight night? If Floyd wants Canelo fine but the inconsistencies in these arguments have me pissing my pants laughing… This was not Klitschko beating another former employee/sparring partner Guerrero is a world class fighter who got schooled like everyman who fights Floyd Mayweather…UNDEFEATED 44-0

He’ll most likely fight Khan next. There are some good fights for him now at 147… Garcia, Peterson…I honestly can’t hate on him for not fighting a big 154 pound champion like Alvarez who is ih his prime. Canelo should fight Martinez so Martinez can stop crying about how he can’t get a big money fight

Old Coot

@ Trouble: People like you drive me crazy… Because you obviously don’t get that styles really do make fights… IOW, Pac v Mayweather would not be at all like either Pac v Marquez, nor Marquez v. Mayweather. Cotto and Hatton proved that speedy guys who know how to attack give Floyd fits… Marquez can’t fight a guy who never comes forward, because he’s a counter puncher, who is unaccustomed to attacking. And since Floyd is a counterer too, who refuses to ever really attack, Floyd just waited and countered when Marquez tried to come forward, but had no clue how to do so. Particularly due to at the tiem being bulked up ten pounds in muscle weight for the first time, when he faced Floyd. And all that weight greatly y slowed Marquez down as Floyd planned it when he demanded that Marquez bulk up. However, by the time Marquez fought Pacquiao the last time, he had gotten used to the extra weight and has regained his speed.

Pacquiao is an attacker by nature, and unlike Marquez he knows how to go after Floyd… Marquez like Floyd, only knows how to counter an attacker… Also, Marquez is willing to take 3 power punches from Pacquiao to give 2 to back, Floyd is not really willing to take anything from anyone. Not to mention, Marquez has great punching power… Floyd only has what I call, good “catch you off guard or fatigue power”, meaning, he either has to surprise you like Ortiz, or make you tired then KO you with accumulative punches like Hatton. So in my mind if Cotto gave Floyd fits… Pacquiao would kill him.

Posted May 5, 2013 2:04 am

Adrian Floyd is about Money. He’s not fighting Canelo until Canelo reaches his highest star peak. It has to build to that. Then people will start talking about them fighting the way they did with him & Pac. The wise move for Canelo is for him to fight Martinez, & the winner fight Floyd. & all the fans predicted Guerrero would lose? That’s funny…because I recall a fan claiming God was in Guerrero’s corner & that Floyd was going down

Ghetto Thug, Nopporn, I honestly thought that Guerrero’s strong faith and emotional strength along with Floyd’s possible decline of skills would be enough for a young hungry God believing man to defeat Floyd tonight. I was wrong. Floyd still has something left , and Robert has very slow feet. He tried until the end, but he’s not athletic enough to make quick enough adjustments and his hand speed couldn’t catch up to Floyd. If they fought toe to toe, we might have a different ending, but Floyd uses his athleticism and boxing skills to his maximum capacity. The fighter to beat Floyd has to have speed and reflexes.

“Period” you are on? Floyd fought like the Champion he is, he spotted Guerrero 7 years, he did time, he was inactive for a year what more do you want? Does he need a blindfold for the last 3 rounds also? Gurrero is a tough, prideful fighter who has never been stopped and took bombs from Berto without hitting the deck… Floyd beat him into submission and at various points was simultaneously putting on an offensive and defensive clinic… If you want constant KO’s go watch some wrecking ball puncher… Floyd’s opponents get the full 12 to make something happen and inevitably find out he boxes on another level, power does not bail him out skills do…

PEEJ, Floyd held on quiet a bit. Watch the replay, and count how many times he held. I though holding was illegal? As far as running, well he moved well, but wanted no part of the toe to toe fighting many fans want to see. The fans were even booing him. Robert tried, but he wasn’t as athletic or skilled as Floyd. Floyd still has some reflexes left, but his punch out put is really slowing down. Having said that, he used great small feints and found the right hand counters all night. Robert is very slow footed. If the fight had been toe to toe inside, Guerrero would have beaten him, but Floyd relies on speed, timing, reflexes and movement. He still has something left.

old kook, that’s total nonsense… How doeas a guy weigh in for a JRMW fight at 151, and a WW fight at 146 with ease not a true WW? Actually Mayweather is a small welter weight at best. cut out the nonsense…

Posted May 5, 2013 1:38 am

I predicted Floyd would break his right hand in this fight.. Guerrero has a very hard head similar to Carlos Hernandez, a fight where Floyd also busted a mitt.. That was the only danger I saw for Floyd. I predicted the score would be 118-110.

Posted May 5, 2013 1:38 am

Floyd proved that he was a welter by weighing in at 146. Floyd walks around at maybe 150. He will go she and tax Canelo though

Run!! Floyd!! Run!! Lol….how is Showtime gonna sell 5 more fights like that?? Floyd is a masterful defensive fighter but also masterful in track and field. One man tried to make it a fight and the other guy won. So glad I didn’t spend 70.00 of my money on that fight.

Posted May 5, 2013 1:37 am

Q

Adrian: You’re asking me how many rounds Floyd lost on one or all three of the scorecards combined or what? Or are you asking me how many rounds THAT I had FMJ losing? I say 3 maximum… it was a lackluster fight.. and a very easy fight for FMJ in terms of “now you know he’ll know he was in a fight tomorrow” …this all being against a younger ODH at 154, not that drained ODH a year later that came in lighter than manny because he couldn’t pick his weight back up because he had drained himself to crap to make a weight he’d not fight at in many many years. Come on man. You’re irrational. Jealousy is a weak emotion. Goodnight. Manny is irrelevant right now. They didn’t fight.. I don’t want to debate what YOU believe vs what I believe… it doesn’t even matter. You seek solace in a fight that never happened, while I’m enjoying fights that are happening because I’m a boxing fan. I don’t need to be hating on Manny, who just got knocked completely out for over a minute. Peace.

As for Pacquiao. Karma dealt with him. After refusing random drug testing, which promoters and even commentators are now championing, after so many fighters got caught, Manny and Toprank thought Marquez was ripe for the picking and chose to fight him…. only for Manny to lose that (in everyone’s eyes) and get knocked out cold in their latest fight. Floyd got the last laugh in the Manny/Mayweather Saga. And Manny is now damaged goods, which is why people are not hearing much about him anymore. He’s done, but Toprank is keeping it hush, hush, for now.

Floyd is a great WW fighter against hand-picked opponents… But his fans really need to quit buying the illusion of the Great Floyd Mayweather… Floyd is not a WW anymore… Truth be told, he’s not been a WW for several years now… And if he wants to prove he is as great as his fans seem to think… He needs to test the illusion of himself, by for once, not fighting tomatoes who fairly recently moved up from lower divisions, like his last opponent and try moving up himself, to fighting more people his size, in the Jr Middle Weight division, like Cotto was, such as Alvarez, Lara, Trout, or Martirasyan. Then we’ll see the truth.

No one with any credibility can discredit Floyd Mayweather at this point in his career. If you don’t like the guy because of his personality, then be honest and say so. But to try and claim Floyd’s career is fake, overrated, or tainted is only showing that other persons hand. Even Guerrero after first being angry, admitted that Floyd is special and on another level and that he would try to earn another fight against him.

if you thought robert guerrero was gonna win your a retard. as the guy pointed out below. mayweather vs guerrero blew as a bout. it was a forgone conclusion and nothing special happened tonight. guerrero will do the david ortiz and sink into obscurity because he’s not even that great of a boxer as i said he’s already getting beat by diaz and salido mayweather just handed him his third loss. sounds like a great opponent huh? why not fight robert when you can fight pac, canelo, trout, ggg, and martinez. those guys actually represent a REAL bout. not a forgone conclusion so it makes no sense for mayweather to fight them. this leaves only one question. who will fight and beat andre berto next and thereby earn a floyd mayweather title shot? they mine as well give floyd mayweather title shots in wonka bars like a golden ticket. and do the bouts like toughman contests with no weight limits. it would be more competitive than the guerreros and ortiz’s of the world. i would rather watch floyd mayweather vs an UMPA LOOMPA than robert guerrero. it would be more entertaining. both are forgone conclusions.

But the public has ruled, NY’s 40/40 club full of athletes Sabathia, Cam Newton Cano and others all out to see the BEST fighter in the world still handling his business, controlling the action and making it look easy… Arena full of heavy hitters people enjoying superior craftsmanship while those who only subscribe to the Arturo Gatti school of boxing are perplexed by what they saw. As I said months ago… I would not bet on this fight, because Mayweather’s choice of Guerrero, showed that the war with Cotto taught Mayweather, he needed to go back to hand-picking slightly slower opponents, with less than steller mobility, but good enough heart to look competent while Mayweather dominates the bout. And, Guerrero was just the ticket… Yet here we have Mayweather fans still thinking Floyd did something special.

Gentlmen, Robert Guerrero was beaten tonight. Floyd was too fast, and Robert was very slow footed. Robert is still a true man of God, and tonight he came up short. I truly thought Robert was going to pull it off, but Floyd still has some reflexes and speed left in his game. Floyd did do a lot of holding and running or moving as many would say. Robert will be back, and IMO will be a champion again. There’s no reason to hold your head down. A fighter will live to fight another day. Honestly though, the fight was very boring because Floyd held and ran 90% of the time.

Fight scribe … Oscar dea Hoya went down from light haveyweight before his retirement and took mayweather in his prime and in my book and one of the judge won against mayweather ,and mayweather retire after that lol and never gave Oscar a rematch ..lol Oscar we know what he did against paqiao right after mayweather lol…and cotto ??? He fought a washed up cotto who he bearly beat him anyway …the fact is he is a biggest cherry picker today !!!!!!

Fight scribe – let me ask you this, do you think Guerrero was the best and the toughest challenger for mayweather ? One thing that I never liked about mayweather was that he never gave us the best fights that could be made , when he moved up in welterweight he fought baldomir amongst the deepest devision with talents at that time like undefited Williams ,cotto margarito ,Martinez etc …now this when we have Canelo trout ggg out there ,he hasa title at 154 dosent he ?

Posted May 5, 2013 12:27 am

Gonzo of Nazareth

The referee is clearly in the bag.. Floyd is holding every time Gurrero gets close and he’s doing it right in front of the ref’s eyes not on the blind side. No wonder fighters like him, Hopkins and Ward always make sure the ref is American, which they have been for all but 2 of their combined fights. Disgraceful.

Posted May 5, 2013 12:27 am

5-2 FMJ. Thought G was much busier. FMJ probably taking a rest, long way in front.

Gonzo of Nazareth – how many fights have you had at world class level? How many world class fighters of Geurreros ilk have you beaten?

Posted May 5, 2013 12:25 am

Fight Scribe

Floyds movement is fight defining. Moving Geurrero around from side to side, timing him when he misses and looking real hard for the right hand lead as RG rushes in.

Posted May 5, 2013 12:24 am

Gonzo of Nazareth

The Floyd groupies will be proclaiming this a good win if it carries on like this. lololol. Brainwashed fools. Hook, line and sinker. lol

Posted May 5, 2013 12:23 am

5-1 FMJ. FMJ only just nicking them. Won’t take much for a momentum shift. Is Guerrero good enough.

Posted May 5, 2013 12:23 am

Adrian

Wow aren’t we shocked …? Lol Guerrero has no speed no punching power for mayweather and actualy I am supprised to see the fight being this close …
The question here tonight should be what is mayweather doing how is he looking against a slower fmr bantamweighter and not if Guerrero is beating him

Posted May 5, 2013 12:19 am

Mayweather has perfect game plan for Guerrero. He uses reach advantage to fight outside where he is quicker and has amazing reaction to dodge punches. The minute Guerrero closes the gap, Mayweather clinches. I can’t see Guerrero winning so far.

Posted May 5, 2013 12:18 am

They have to stop with these rappers walking in with the fighters and rapping. I like hip hop but this always sounds like complete garbage and you can’t understand what anyone is saying. Lil Wayne probably can’t even hear himself. Have him in the ring rapping as Mayweather walks in so he can have a monitor and hear himself. Also why no Ghostbusters theme? Mayweather missed an easy one there.

Won’t call it a robbery but there definitely was a plant on the judges. No way you can score that 97-92. That judge was a plant plain and simple.

The fight was fought at Rasado’s distance. Love had some moments, but really his inexperience showed, and that was the difference. I think even the broadcast teams score of 96-94 was giving Love too much.

CORRECTAMUNDO

Hopefully Floyd Sr doesn’t let Guerrero’s dirty tactics get to him emotionally where he rushes into the Ring and gets Floyd DQ’d like Roger almost DID….I think he’s a lil too SMART for that though.

Posted May 4, 2013 9:16 pm

should be a tough fight for the young love.

Anything can happen in Boxing, but Correctamundo (Correcta instead of Correcto means it pertains to a female) will be right not matter what happens.

Could this be a no-contest due to cuts caused by a head-butt & the fight stopped before 3th round? Could this be a Disqualification due to Guerrero blatant fouling? Let’s hope not but they are possibilities. I’d go with Floyd slicing this guy to pieces…

Posted May 4, 2013 9:09 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

Floyd by CLEAR UD or Jaw dropping stoppage
