Pain

I root for Paulie, but I want Broner to win so he can be a force 140-147 and fight Pac eventually. Let’s see how that style holds up.

Lol KOrnerman.. Yes, I am actually. Some say that dashing young bearded chap was my son. Of course I’m far too modest and self-effacing to suggest such a thing. It’s just not my style, bro.

I’m not sure how exciting the fight will be, but the pressers are entertaining.

Hey Gonzo are you any relation of that bearded jewish guy the Romans strung up to dry out in the sun? I think he was from Nazareth too.

Posted May 9, 2013 4:12 am

KOrnerman

at least Broner has turned a usually non exiting build up to a Malinaggi fight into a fight everyone cant wait to see, I say personally the guy’s an ass but he is definitely putting bums on seats and giving the scene an injection of genuine excitement for us all to savour, he says he wants to “bring the fun back to boxing” and I think he’s off to a good start hehehe.

Gonzo of Nazareth

Yeah, I hope so too Ernie. I suspect that might not be the case though. Fingers crossed that I’m wrong about that.

Tark.. I don’t mean to be rude old chap, but one has arrived at the conclusion that you have a big pair of bollocks where you mouth should be.

TARK

Broner is scared of Paulie? Why is that? Because he punches so hard? … Because he’s never been stopped by a former lightweight like Amir Khan? Because he out-boxed Ricky Hatton?

Posted May 8, 2013 11:21 pm

Eleanore the Hag

Paulie told the fans to “suck his deick.” Why should I show him any respect. He is a motor mouth braggert who will get his comeuppance from Broner—make no mistake about that.

Posted May 8, 2013 7:15 pm

The Prince

say what you want, but Paulie and Broner are making the pre-fight hype very entertaining with the jokes and stories about the girlfriend that got knocked out. Let’s hope the fight is just as entertaining.

Posted May 8, 2013 6:11 pm

TARK

If AB takes these insults personally, and wants to punish Paulie severely, he’ll take him into deep water, the late rounds, tanning his behind all the way… If he want to make a statement about a Floyd fight he’ll smash him out in 2 or 3 rounds… It depends on how much he’s matured as a man.

Posted May 8, 2013 5:22 pm

FEARS

I am a big Broner fan, but I would love to see Paulie execute from outside, avoid Broner’s power and box Broner’s ears off. However; I don’t see that happening June 22nd, and I figure Broner may KO Paulie in the later rounds.

Posted May 8, 2013 4:32 pm

Eleanore the Hag

Paulie was lucky to win last time out. I had Cano beating him. He has lost his movement. Broner should do a number on him around the 7th or 8th round.

Junior my bad fella….I thought you were a yank.
As for broners competition so far….I,d say its been about right.
He has tons of time to get to the big dogs, and then we will see if he can beat them
I,ve been impressed so far…..same as I was for a while with khan, I gave him the benefit of the doubt with Prescott, even though Gomez/ Limond put him down I still thought they were just cos he made schoolboy errors , it’s when he continued to make those same errors against better fighters that I knew he was just lacking what it takes to be one of he top tier fighters.
Don’t get me wrong he is offensively a great boxer, bu his defence lets him down and his chin is there to be tagged way to easy.
Obviously we have yet to see a chink in broners armour so far, but time will .
But so far so good and if he carries on as he has done so far then it should be fun watching him on his journey.

How fast is Broner? We don’t know. Can he cut off the ring? We don’t know. Paulie may gas out in the later rounds but, he has a real shot at out boxing this kid. Don’t fall for hype…Aerola, Donaire, Pac, etc. Even the great Floyd Mayweather can lose a fight.

Limey, I’m Scottish living in England mate lol. Broner is definitely looking the real deal, and his skills are unquestionable, but he should have Atleast one loss on his record, and his comp has been poor with the exception of demarco.

Junior…..Jeff Lacey was nowhere near broner with skills, not in the same ballpark , not even in the same hemisphere.
I don’t like broners persona but the guy can box.
I,d like to see how he looks under pressure from a strong puncher, see how his chin holds up ….but at the moment he looks proper naughty, time will tell, but the Lacey comparison doesn,t hold any water with me, Lacey was way overrated in the USA, and calzaghe wasn,t.
Us Brits knew joe was super skilled but it took you guys a while to catch on.
No shame in that we saw a lot more of him than our cousins from across the pond.
But in all fairness you saw a lot more of Lacey

Tark….no arguments from me brother, I think broner is special, he also hit Rees with a sensational screwed uppercut in the fight, he has mad skills.
The point I was trying to make is that broner was getting hit because he wasn,t bothered……put him in with a banger and I reckon he will tighten up .

Posted May 8, 2013 12:40 pm

I see Broner as more of a Jeff Lacy than a Floyd. But yeh he is being lined up as the next floyd

Posted May 8, 2013 12:20 pm

I see exactly what’s going on now in boxing adrien the spoiled kid broner is next in line to take Floyd’s spot when he’s done that’s why he’s fought no one and gets a bunch of credit I’m just saying again Andre ward cleared a whole division ducked no one and he doesn’t get his credit but adrein fights Rees and gets called the next mayweather? Really? I see the sad truth now it’s all a business, staged in other words, hopefully Paulie gets the win he actually has fought world class fighters!, I’d like to see khan and broner go at it but no it’s a business !

So both Broner and Burns had 6 weeks to get ready for each other. They new after the Brodie fight that they were the next fight that Broner wants and I’m sure they new ahead of time. And 6 weeks, that’s a decent amount of time especially of your good like burns says he is. And the Vasquez fight wasn’t postponed for that long If at all. Sorry but Burns said it homes elf. He said he was fighting to get another belt to have more power at the negotiating table. That was from an interview he did

This place cracks me up, some of you sound like kids who know nothing about what it takes to step into the ring.
Have a bit more respect for the fighters , instead of the constant hate.
Paulie is a brave and solid fighter, with good skills/speed /heart…..he lacks pop in his shots but that’s about all he lacks, I got plenty of respect for him, he brings it.
As for broner if anyone can’t see he is a bit special then it’s time to give up and start watching golf, who knows how his career will end up but for right now he is doing everything with relative ease…..sure he got hit in the Gavin Rees fight more than floyd has in his last ten, but I think he felt what Rees had and realised it wasn,t a problem, he stepped up a few gears and it was game over for the tough Rees.
He ain’t the finished article but he has natural skills in abundance, and is a spiteful little mutha to boot.
He has plenty of time for the bigger names down the road, and I,m sure is gonna be in some entertaining fights for years to come…..it’s a shame he is a bit of a helmet, but that’s just the way it is.
As for the fight ….paulie gives it a good go, asks a few questions of broner, but broner will have the answers and will finish paulie in the later rounds.
But I reckon it,ll be a fun watch.
But you haters will keep on hating even though the two fellas will put on a show, cos that’s what you do best.
Nuff said.

Can you imagine Broner vs Judah??? The BS would fly at their pressers. That one would be called “No Respect”

But this one is almost as good… Non-stop shouting, boasting, name calling and trashing, mostly from Paulie, followed by another round of the same. Broner is mildly amused. Paulie is like the skinny little bullied kid who trashes his room in an angry fit of rage before he buys the Charles Atlas course. A month later he’s loaded with muscle and knocks out the bully who kicked sand in his face in front of his girl friend—who promptly left him for the bully. The KO punch wins back his girl friend and he’s a hero. That ad sold a lot of Charles Atlas courses to gullible skinny kids. Paulie is running around flexing his muscles, lifting up his shirt, and showing Broner his abs. “Wow look at that. That’s just so impressive Paulie.”

Broner: “Paulie is such a devastating puncher. He’s so much bigger and stronger than me.” Shakes his head slowly for effect and laments… “I’m going up 2 weight divisions. My Goodness … This is going to be so HARD.”

“And I don’t like the fact he’s trying to take the easy road to a belt.”
But you were applauding and lauding Pacquiao when he did that, right?

Posted May 8, 2013 8:56 am

Hidalgo

Happyboy, Paulie Malignaggi has plenty of skills. He has speed and pop too. Does he have enough to beat Adrien Broner? Probably not. But the adjective “no” is totally incorrect when you are describing Paulie Malignaggi as a fighter. As I’ve said many times before, and I now say to you, if you think Paulie Malignaggi is that bad, step into the ring with him. One three minute round. See how you come out. BTW, Paulie has successfully fought as a welterweight five times. He has successfully defended his welterweight title once–with a broken hand. The guy deserves some credit even from a “hater” like you that always takes the first opportunity to point out other “haters” that don’t like your boys Broner or Mayweather.

Posted May 8, 2013 8:56 am

I hope Broner gets a serious beat down. So Mayweather can kick him of the money team because he has a lost. You can’t be like Floyd with a lost!

I have to go with Paulie in this fight. I didn’t use to like the guy but hey He’s been in the ring with Cotto and Hatton. And Broner is just a little guy with big mouth. And I don’t like the fact he’s trying to take the easy road to a belt. Marquez, Bradley, Garcia, Judah, and the list goes on.

Posted May 8, 2013 8:51 am

Hidalgo

” But a weak champion,” This is probable but we don’t know for certain yet. At present, Paulie still holds his belt. Broner will prove how weak, or not weak Paulie is when they fight.

Pacquiao never faced a fellow belt holder in any of the so called 8 divisions ” Maybe. But Pacquiao sure took a lot of belts from reigning champions. But what are you really trying to say? That Pacquiao didn’t fight champions while he was a champion himself? If so, just say so, so we can all clearly understand what you mean.

Edgar Guevara:
You wrote: “Winning titles the easy way doesn’t make you great.”
Really?
Didn’t Pacquiao become “great” by doing just that? And you guys applauded, lauded, even saying he was better than Henry Amstrong…
Pacquiao never faced a fellow belt holder in any of the so called 8 divisions he went through; he ALWAYS got access to a division facing the “weakest link” (just like Broner and Malinagi); Always fought Old-pastprime-loosing-weight drained fighters; avoided undefeated fighters; avoided boxer-type fighters, etc…
Yet he was all over the map and voted “fighter of the decade”…
Broner has already cleaned a division, something Pacquiao never did his entire life; Broner selects a short cut to the WW division, and all for a sudden, you discover that you have an analytical capacity…..
So what is good for the goose, is not for the gander?
That’s how we spot peckerwoods….They are incoherent, inconsistent…
Poor you!

Happyboy………I dont nderstand the ”looks like he’s gonna be out for a lot longer” comment, could you clear that up for me? Burns got married and went to Mexico on his honeymoon a couple weeks after his last fight. Regarding Justin Juuko, look what happened to him!!!

Posted May 8, 2013 6:51 am

Happyboy

Junior – looks like Burns is gonna be out for a lot longer since he decided to duck the first fight that came his way after a lay off. Justin Juuko took a fight 6 weeks notice against Floyd. I guess it depends how badly he wants to fight and what he does during the lay off.

Posted May 8, 2013 6:22 am

Junior

And Gonzalez is the WBO Mandatory, so Burns has to fight him. From what ive seen Burns is just happy to actualy get a fight after being out of the ring so long

Posted May 8, 2013 6:13 am

Junior

PEEJ Burns was offered the Broner fight at 6 weeks notice, and for poor money. And the Vazquez fight was postponed due to Vazquez beeing sick, and Burns fight with Liam Walsh fell through because Walsh was in a car crash, as did his fight with Jose Ocampo. You cant blame Burns for 3 guys pulling out, and another not giving him enough time or money!

Agree with you 100%.

Broner is the next superstar in boxing, after Paulie he needs better opposition. Winning titles the easy way doesn’t make you great. But a weak champion, he needs to start checking his resume. A couple easy wins is cool, but keep getting into the easy road beating people. When you are skills a greater. Come on!

Posted May 8, 2013 4:10 am

TARK

This is going to entertaining but it will be onej-sided… Paulie will land some punches but they will have no effect on Broner. AB will land the heavier punches and Paulie won’t be able to shrug them off. He will start getting hurt and the most entertained man in the house will be AB, who won’t be able to stop smiling… Every time he thinks of Paulie he licks his lips — because it’s not often you get to fight somebody you don’t like, who has a really big mouth, and who can’t punch.

CORRECTAMUNDO

Broner will WIN by BRUTAL stoppage.

Posted May 7, 2013 11:20 pm

ADL

Just because Broner tries to talk, act and has, a defensive stance like Mayweather does not make him as good as Mayweather. Broner gets hit more in one fight than Floyd does in five. Where are the facts to support the notion that so many people have that Broner is the next face of boxing? Broner has only fought two guys worth mentioning, De Marco and Ponce De Leon. He destroyed De Marco a B+ level fighter and almost lost to an Old Ponce de Leon. I guess that makes him the new face of boxing?

Posted May 7, 2013 10:39 pm

ADL

I think Paulie has a better chance in this fight than people think. Broner barely escaped with his life against an Old Ponce De Leon. He has to set his feet to throw his power punches. There is no worse match up for him than a guy with a great jab, quick hands and feet. Paulie will not stand and fight he will jab from the outside and use his quick footwork so Broner cannot get his feet set to throw power punches. Paulie will set traps and run. I don’t know if Broner can stop the jab, cut the ring off or set his feet to throw anything. I can easily see Broner chasing Paulie around the ring for 12 rounds and getting pot shotted.

Posted May 7, 2013 10:10 pm

PM can and should just box from the outside and move, win on points. I think he can do it.

Posted May 7, 2013 10:07 pm

WHAT!?!

Who is Broner? He talks like he has done something in the sport. The only time I have heard his name pop up, is when he kept ducking and running from Ricky Burns. I remember 10 yrs ago, a young loud mouth punk doing a chicken dance when he thought he was invincible and had a huge entourage. Eventually the same will happen to this disrespectful, self important, over-inflated, egotistical, hype trained, fraudulent, piece of garbage.

Posted May 7, 2013 9:42 pm

Prof Konje

Broner is a loud mouth and it’s all part of his act to draw attention to himself. His personality is irritating. He really believes that he’s handsome. Someone should buy him a bigger mirror. I would like to see Paulie beat his ass but if he doesn’t someone down the line certainly will. I can’t stand the bastard.

If anyone thinks pillow punching, bigmouth, never beat a top fighter Malignaggi has even the slightest chance to win one round, you need help. Speed? No! Power? hahahahahah! This is going to be a one sided beat down by the next great fighter to begin a new era. Malignaggi is a BUM!! Can’t wait to see Broner dismantle, brutalize and stomp this wannabe fighter once and for all. Hopefully Showtime will fire him also and get back to a real commentator like Antonio Tarver. He was excellent. Better than Malignaggi that stares all around the table like he’s lost. He’s way out of place. Broner’s gonna give him a beating, can’t wait.
