Rios might be one dimensional, but he’s still dangerous and never be taken lightly. If Pacman fails to hurt him or fights infighting which he’s been trying to do more often he could be in trouble. I think he will get in trouble in the middle or late rounds vs Rios. Rios has some boxing skills, but doesn’t use them much. Has a mammoth left hook that would level most welters too. Manny by decision if he sticks and moves, but if he trades he’ll be risking it. All it took was one bodyshot by Margarito and it made Pacquiao stop playing games.

I kind of agree with Rios. Pac is the obv favorite but facing a puncher in your first bout after a KO loss is not a smart move. That said, he gets props for taking a tough fight.

You’re the one who always brings it up. You must be more jealous of Canelo’s fair skin and freckles. Why so angry about it unless you wished you looked more Alvarez yourself?

hecdog – Thanks bro and we both know this kid will end up KO’d once he steps in the ring with the real Contenders of his weight class.. He’s been avoiding his Mandatory Cuban Lara for over a year!! Quinlin and even Rosado would tear him up once he Gasses out in the 5th round like he did vs Featherfisted Trout…

Public Enemy, I agree with you. Canelo is good, but he’s a long way from being called great. I would take Lara to beat him any day. Quillin will destroy Canelo IMO. I’m not a big Canelo fan. He needs to take on those guys you mentioned and others. Canelo is a big attraction because Mexico has crowned him as the next great fighter. His red head and light skin also help his popularity. IMO, he’s got a long way to go.

A great match, complaining about being selected. Man 3 million dollars and I’m going to complain, about being selected. Make the fight, make the statement when you win and say they made a mistake after winning the fight. Before that is a bluff. No one knows what is going to happen.

coming off of his 7th loss makes “Rosado” NObody’s mandatory. at best, he’s assuming bouncer duties along with Cotto at the entrance gate. they should get busy clearing up a spot for JuanMono who will be joining them very soon for an all-rican gatekeeeper detail.

Paquiao is going to fracture Plodding Rios face like he fractured MargaCheatos Face without his Magical Tijuana Cement Wraps.. Rios is just a straight ahead Plodder with very limited boxing skills and the main reason Arum is cashing in on him because Rios is not going to be around too much longer taking the shots he takes.. He’s already got slurred speech… and twitching chihuahua eyes…

Rios by KO. i anticipate he’ll be stronger at whatever catchweight Pacquiao* demanded above 140lbs and will successfully be able to engage and re-shatter Pacquiao’s* chin and jaw. unlike Roach(?) i have little faith that Pacquiao* has the poise, discipline, or boxing skills to outclass Rios over 12 rounds. as long as Rios doesn’t fall into the trap of trying to time and counter Pacquaio* and simply digs-in and punches without regard to Pacquiao’s* fight-plan, he’ll compel Pacquiao* to exchange v. a bigger, stronger puncher accustomed to dealing with lightweight handspeed. that should be enough to dismantle and KO Pacquiao* before the final bell. this won’t go to the scorecards.

hecdog – True great fighters take on anyone” So why isn’t Canelo taking on his Belts Mandatory Cuban Lara? or Quinlin? or Rosado?

Posted May 13, 2013 10:54 am

True great fighters take on anyone. Manny Pacquiao has proved this time after time. He has dodged no one. He gave the Ped Puncher Marquez 4 shots when he didn’t have to, now all of a sudden Marquez is too much of a coward to grant a rematch to Manny Pacquiao. In fighting Brandon Rios, Manny takes on a dangerous foe. Rios comes to fight and is tough, and can punch. He does lack mobility and speed, but if you stand with him he’s dangerous. Manny will use his speed and power to punish Rios, but both deserve credit for agreeing to the fight. I’m sure Arum has his own plans with these guys, but as long as Manny brings in money, he’s going to stick with him. This should be a great fight for fans to see as long as it lasts. We’ll have to see what Manny has left, which I believe is plenty. Rios using that low life Angel Hereida should not be allowed, so I’m glad Manny REQUESTED USADA testing so that cheaters like Marquez will eventually get caught. Why does Boxing allow guys like Hereida to take part in boxing? The guy provided Peds to our Olympic athletes. He’s more than admitted it, so why would you allow a cheat like this? Makes no sense.

“Pacquiao[*] will show . . . the world why he is the most talked about explosive fighter in the world” or the world can simply visit YouTube and cue-up highlights of Marquez v. Pacquiao* IV for a reminder that Pacquiao* was on the losing end of the #1 KO in Boxing history. watching Pacquiao* being laid-out and knocked unconscious for several minutes by the 39-year-old Marquez who had been patiently stalking Punkuiao* for Eight (8) F’n Years. that’s what the world remembers Pacquiao* for these days. that is Pacquiao’s* ring-legacy.

I despise Arum for making this matchup. If he’s going to permanently risk Pacquiao’s health, he should have made the rematch with Marquez. In any case, I’m not going to make a call on this fight because I don’t know what to think of it. I was totally surprised that Arum would make a Pacquiao/Rios match. But it does prove to me that Arum cares nothing about the fighters that he promotes. I mean really, is it Rios or Pacquiao that he’s sacrificing? I say it’s a 50-50 toss-up. This fight is all about money–for Arum. That’s all he cares about.

Manny is too fast for Rios who is a come forward banger made for Pac Man don’t forget that JMM is a whole level above Rios. Manny will make mincemeat of Rios unless he can land a bomb early he is going to get stopped my mid way through the fight as he will not have the speed or timing to beat him to the punch or defensive ability to slip and counter.

Manny Pacquiao will show why facing Punchers right after getting brutally knocked out isn’t recommended. Rios will take alot of punishment but he will eventually get to Manny’s newly made China CHIN and knock him out. His Defense is too POOR and his coach’s strategy is too POOR TOO. He’s going to send Manny right back into a Fire Fight when opting to Box and protect that CHIN would be the SMARTER approach. But since his coach wants to make Manny Fight like a DUMMY Rios is going to oblige him and crack that CRANIUM.

Manny Pacquiao will show why show the world why he is the most talked about explosive fighter in the world. Floyd Mayweather cannot be mentioned in the same breathe when it comes to exciting fights. Manny throws caution to the wind and immediately takes one of the most dangerous toe to toe fighters in the world. He takes those challenges on, and he shows no fear. Fans love him because he’s a humble person that fights like a lion. Fans get excited just watching him walk from the dressing room to the ring smiling and acknowledging his fans. The level of excitement grows as you see fans in the audience go wild and crazy over the best fighter of this era and arguably the greatest fighter ever. Yes, the only 8 division champion in the history of boxing. Manny Pacquiao is to boxing what the pope is to Catholicism. Fans can’t wait to hear the bell ring and watch Manny move gracefully in the ring. He moves gracefully as he moves his head side to side, throws that jab, and measures Rios. Soon after he fires that lethal, destructive straight left hand that does damage immediately. Yes, this will be a mano y mano battle of attrition. Both guys will leave it all out there, and this fight will be talked about for years to come. This is the fight game. Two fighters testing their wills, courage, heart fighting each other in the center of the ring. Fans will not have to witness one guy hitting. holding and sprinting away. They won’t have to worry about booing to fighters that get paid millions. Fans will be in awe at the savage fight that is taking place. Manny will be in and out, throwing that right hook, weaving and striking lighting shots from all angles. Yes, fans will see Manny smile, tap his gloves together and fiercely fight like a warrior. he will represent his country like no other, and his fans will cheer him on as he destroys a tough, tough fighter at his own game. Manny will take risks in order to achieve greatness, and the adulation of the fans. He will speak humbly, and speak respectfully of his defeated opponent. Manny Pacquiao is beloved because he cares not about money, fame, fortune and does not set a bad example for his family, friends and fans. No he doesn’t go to jail, he doesn’t hit his wife, he doesn’t burn money, he doesn’t make money his God, he doesn’t humiliate his father, he doesn’t brag about all his materials and possessions. Manny Pacquiao will be the same likeable fighter we have always known. Singer, dancer, actor, congressman, philanthropist, God believing bible study teacher, great father, son, brother and the most loved fighter in history. We fans get to see Manny again. It’s like seeing an eclipse for the first time. Seeing the birth of your child. Watching the sun come up and the moon appear out of nowhere. It’s like feeling the wind hit your face, yet not seeing it. Miraculous! Let’s sit back and watch Manny Pacquiao begin his artistry.

A fighter coming off a bad loss especially the way that Pacquiao did is going to be suspect… The Pac Man aura of invinciblity is a thing of the past and its up to Manny to put the world on notice that he is still an elite force… I would suggest he starts by knocking Rios out, I know Rios has not been stopped but he is a punching bag and Mannys hands should be WAY faster…. This will be fun thats assured

Rios better keep his hands up, cause Manny will have a hard time missing punches against him. Hey, I guess the thought of taking a 10 minute nap in the ring, makes the thought of needles and a little blood loss seem not so bad after all.

Yes we heard he is demanding testing. It’s about time. This is gonna be a tough fight for Pac. Rios last fight could if gone either way. Losing like that isn’t something too damaging on the psychological end. What Pac suffered will definitely mess with your mind plus your chin is ever rarely as strong as it used to be

What is with this “coming off a loss” crap? More often than not a fighter coming off a loss is even hungrier for a win because he wants to redeem himself. Some of you guys talk like any fighter who’s coming off a loss is crippled for life. Get real! Unless it’s a devastating loss like Pacquiao suffered–not like Rios just had–it generally ain’t no big thing. Rios is going to bring it to Pacquiao. He only has one gear and that’s fast forward.

Pac was once TKO’d and once KO’d. And I doubt either loss was stopped as brutally as it was against Marquez. Plus those losses were a longgg time ago, when Pac was much younger. When you’re younger it tends to be easier to shake off a KO loss than it is later in a career. So lots of questions need to be answered about Pac’s future in the sport, and few are better at getting answers like that than the hard-charging “Bam Bam” Rios.

Manny Pacquiao, arguably the greatest pure fighter of all time will bring back his warrior mentality and resurrect the boxing world once again. He will take on the dangerous former champion Brandon Rios. Yes, Manny will fight Rios at close range where Rios is most dangerous. Manny will take a risk and fight Rios at his own game, which is why Manny is much more respected and admired by the boxing fans world wide. Manny fights with heart, determination, no fear and gives fans what they want. In his first fight since the devastating Ped Punch loss, Manny goes right back into the fire. Past, current and future fighters relish the opportunity to see this warrior back in action. No one has to worry about Manny running, holding and sprinting away. No one has to question if he fights for the fans or money. No one will have to worry about fans booing and leaving the arena. Manny Pacquiao will come back with power, speed and the highest form of entertainment. He will come back humble, appreciative, loving, caring, giving and with the goal of pleasing boxing fans. Manny Pacquiao fights are not equaled by anyone when it comes to entertainment. Tickets world wide will sell out in minutes. The world loves Manny Pacquiao. He doessn’t need the 24/27, All Acees or anything like that to sell tickets to his fights. Manny sells by his name only. He’s the most popular athlete in the world today, and the most admired and beloved. The sun will shine a little brighter, the world will see more hope. Life will be better when Manny Pacquiao slows down time so that we can see him battle again. be thankful fans, the king is coming back.

Pac has been ko’ed three times in his boxing, so this is not his first reodio, and he still fought like the true champ he is. Got cought by a luckey shot should have been more carfull after the third round nockdown, but tryed to go for the kill and that got him ko’ed.

This a great match-up! Rios has an incredible chin and determination. Pac has serious firepower and also serious determination. But what Rios will we see — the one willing to walk through fire to defeat Alvardo the first time, or the one who became befuddled and lost focus in the second half of their second fight. As for Pac, will he still have the ferocity of old, or will he be broken in spirit and fight like an opponent instead of a champion like we’ve seen many fighters do after getting brutally KO’d. It sure will be interesting to find out!
