Rios isn’t Margarito and he is younger and he has power. Pac isn’t the same fighter for all those who are in denial about the outcome of the fight saying that Pac will win easily. It will be a great fight,i’m anxious to see it, and will not be the least surprised if Rios scores a knockout!

Eugthehuge

Rios is not a welterweight (he was fighting at lightweight a year ago!!!), gets hit a lot, is coming from a brutal loss, suffers punch-drunk syndrome already. Pacquiao can’t lose this one; on the other hand, boxing will lose big time.

Pacman is not losing to Rios unless Angel has anything to say about that.lmfao:-)

It’s clear this idiot knows nothing about boxing. Rios is a small version of Margarito. Pacquiao destroyed Margaroto. What do you think he will do to Rios?. Rios has no other skill but to come forward and bang. He will try and hit Pacquiao, who will not be there to hit.

Hecdogs opinion on Pacquiao is worthless he cannot give Marquez a shred of credit for producing 3 super close fights and then knocking Pacquiao cold and
Perhaps ending his run at the top of the sport.. He lives in a fantasy world where Pacquiao cannot be beaten even though he already has… Anyone saying he was running away with the 4th Marquez bout before getting blasted is crazy…he had already floored Manny with one punch and was trading with him… I had Pacquiao ahead buy that does not matter when you turn a guys lights out like that…

Gonzalez quit on his stool showed he was a coward…not a warrior ready to be carried out on his shield…I thought all Porto Ricans had broken wrists like Orlando Cruz?…De Leon made him quit with a poke to his belly to win the WBC Latino Featherweight title…not a warrior like a Mexican ready to be carried out on his shield.

hecdog`how can you say he clearly beat him that 3rd meeting is beyond me the second one was a toss up and il give it to pac because of the knockdown but again the first one is another toss up,nothing was clear about any of these fight except the last one where many died for a few seconds in the ring, and marquez gave up speed for power is why he was getting tagged how he was but at the end of the day his plan showed to work to perfection…yezzzir!

i’m not surprised that Pacquiao* priced himself out of the rematch v. Marquez. it’s not the first time he’s avoided him. he did the same for their first eagerly-anticipated rematch by bolting from 126lbs to challenge a faded Morales coming off another flat-performance and Loss v. Barrera. Morales was able to successfully summon his reserves of grit, pride, and determination to recapture his prime fighting-ability and deliver a boxing lesson to Pacquiao*. anyway, it’s obvious that Pacquiao* ever looked forward to facing Marquez despite “winning” all three previous encounters. conversely, Marquez never lost sight of Pacquiao* or his mission to avenge the corrupt “losses” handed to him by Top Rank judges. regardless of the physical, logistical, and financial disadvantages that Team Punkuiao* demanded to discourage Marquez he remained focused and utterly DEMOLISHED Pacquiao*, which was the publicly-declared and “desired result”. a result that Pacquiao* apparently can’t be paid enough to redeem. a greedy and pathetic promotional tool till the end.

also, pac-man will simply step around rios and punch him over and over. i like rios but he got exposed recently against alvarado. i think he willl be badly damaged in this fight unfortunatley, he jsut takes too many punches.

it is hard to read or listen to any of this article after the author writes something that is just stupid. pacquiao was looking VERY good against marquez in the last fight until marquez delivered the punch that he had been baiting pacquiao into the whole fight. but in reality pacquiao was giving marquez hell but just got overexcited and extended himself too much. sure pac-man is not what he used to be, damaged and with too many non-boxing committments, but he did not look bad against marquez. if pac-man trains and focues like he used too then he can win come more great fights.

Btw, i never believed that Pacquiao* was that great and also favor the 140lb+ Rios to defeat any welterish version of Pacquiao* that ever entered a boxing ring. Rios is not Diaz or Margarito but the prime and hungry fighter that Team Pacquiao* diligently avoided during Manny’s* prime and contrived “greatness”, which was always based on selecting prominent Name$, beyond their prime, and at unfamiliar catchweights. you won’t find the equivalents of Mathysse, Ortiz, Berto, Garcia, Alvarado, Peterson, Thurman, or Khan on his ring-resume. only catchweight-compromised DLH and Cotto and a fatally-flawed Hatton at 147lbs.

I don’t know what to make of this fight. It doesn’t make any sense to me. Arum is one helluva salesman talking Pacquiao into a fight with Brandon Rios. At the worst Pac could have taken on an existing top welterweight contender as a tune-up fight. I bet Jinky is already crying. After all, he last memory of her man is him lying out cold, face down. For a scary long time! I don’t see how she’ll ever be able to watch one of his fights again.

Look people, this should be a great fight as long as it lasts. You’re talking about the most exciting, fierce, warrior to have ever walked inside a boxing ring. Manny takes on all challenges, and has no fear. That’s the reason so many people love him. He takes chances, and comes to fight. You don’t have to worry about Manny, hitting, hugging and running away like Floyd Mayweather. No, Manny comes to fight, and he takes on all the toughest challengers like Rios. Don’t think for a second Rios can’t fight. Yes he gets hit, but he ha the heart of a lion unlike Floyd Mayweather. This fight will bring excitement to the fans as both fighters, push each other to their limits, and test their wills and skills. Neither man backs down, and both will be respected and adored forever because they come to fight unlike Floyd Mayweather. All the world will be watching. They don’t need the 24/7 and All Access to promote this fight. Manny and Brandon’s name alone will sell it, and trust me, there will be excitement like never before. Mnny Pacquiao is a living legend, and haters will be glued to their tv sets as will Floyd Mayweather himself. This fight will have you on the edge of your seats, but in the end, around the 7th-9th round, Manny Pacquiao will end things in spectacular fashion. The referee will save Rios from further punishment, and he will live to fight another day. Boxing is brought back to the good old fighting days of the 70′s and 80′s. Manny Pacquiao proves why he is arguably the greatest fighter of all time.

Manny lookt gd in training and during the fight…Marquez out foxed him though.. I think manny having a little lay off after a big KO is the smart thing 2 do. Rios will b a tuff fight 4 him though, will b very interesting.

TARK

It’s not an issue of Pacquaio needing rest during a fight.. Pacquiao has always fought in spurts against good fighters… He dances, he he feints, he waits, then he throws 1 to 4 punches where maybe 2 connect.. He doesn’t throw 100 punches a round and big long flurries unless somebody is just not fighting back,—like De La Hoya or Clottey.. Or when he got somebody like Morales going he stayed on them.. In Rios, Pac saw somebody who attacks and attacks and gives you chances for a lot of connects to his face.. Rios is somebody who can provide a dynamite action fight for China’s first step onto the world-class professional sports scene… It’s going to be a tremendous fight… But I hope they also put together some smashing preliminary fights and telecast this baby all over the world… When they do the 24/7 buildup you should have hoards of curious Chinese wondering what all the excitement is all about. Rios should love it. I hope they do some open air public sparring sessions in Macau that are pretty intense, to get the Chinese media whipped up into a frenzy … Since Pacquiao is slipping and Rios is coming on, there should be plenty of speculation and buzz about the fight.

Since it’s in China, I hope they let us watch it on free live TV. Checking my watch… If they start the fight card on November 24th at 11AM in Macau China—American viewers can watch it Saturday night November 23rd, starting at 7PM on the West Coast – and 10PM in New York. They’re 16 hours ahead of us on the West Coast, and the US will be back on standard time. It’ll be a blockbuster fight. I don’t give a damn who wins, I just want to see it. Due to the styles I believe Pac can pull this one off with a massive focused effort, for a SD. Young Rios will be one motivated SOB to finish this aging ATG.

Pacquaio should have left Top Rank a long time ago. That shows you how smart he really is. that is why he has fallen.

He was beating the crap out of Marquez before the knockout? Funny because he was knocked down in the 3rd too. It was a close fight up until the knockout but it wasn’t close after that. Pac has been slowing down for a couple of fights.

Posted May 13, 2013 9:26 pm

philly shell

Everyone’s so critical of Pacquiao after the Marquez fight… He didn’t look bad in that fight – sure he looked bad after he got knocked out, but before that he was beating the crap out of Marquez. In fact, he only got caught because he got over eager looking for a knockout of his own.

I like Rios, he comes to fight, but he’ll probably be out classed big time by Manny.

Any man with the balls to get in the ring has my respect. Now about him wanting new drug testing for this fight makes me think he used to take them and that’s y he was able to beat all the guys the way he did and now he’s off of them and is scared someone else may use them when he fights them.
As they say what goes around comes around… I’m not saying anyone has been on them when he lost his last to fights but his last two fights have shown how someone can say he’s off the jucie

Make or break Pacman! Moment of truth!

Posted May 13, 2013 8:38 pm

Papo

This is a bad fight for Pac…nothing to win and everything to lose. If he wins, he’s supposed to, no big deal…if he loses, he’s supposed to win and may not be able to recover from the lost. Rios has little to lose, except perhaps two loses in a row. If he loses, he’s expected to lose, no big deal…if he wins, he’s expected to lose, so he may get a chance to make a name for himself and some big paydays down the road.

I must go with Pac on this one however. Rios is a slugger and Pac will be moving while taking him apart with combinations. Pac didn’t look bad at all against Marquez before getting KO, so I expect him to move around Rios. Rios, on the other hand, is more predictable and will start to get frustrated by round six. Pac will finish him off by round eight…TKO.

“[Pacquiao's] deterioration had been covered up with the soft fights Arum had put him in with an over the hill Antonio Margarito, Joshua Clottey, who didn’t throw many punches, and with Mosley” and Pacquiao’s* lack of elite skills has been covered up with catchweights and every other conceivable advantage to tilt the playing-field in Pacquiao’s* favor. Pacquiao* only looks great when these exotic conditions prevail. otherwise, he relies on Arum’s influence to avoid improved testing or recruit sympathetic judges to bolster his lack of actual greatness but Arum’s doing Pacquiao* no favor by setting him up v. Rios. one of these fighters is being cashed-in. either Rios claims Pacquiao’s* thunder for himself with a KO win or Pacquiao* reclaims his marketing potential with an impressive win over Rios. Btw, if random testing isn’t in place then Rios should prepare like he’s not being tested . . . just like Pacquiao*.

Posted May 13, 2013 8:11 pm

Prof Konje

Bob Arum isn’t banking on Pacquaio beating Rios and reviving his career. Arum is throwing Pacquaio in with anyone as long as Arum makes a buck. Look for Paquaio to be half-stepping and mumbling very soon and that’s when Arum will throw him to the curb.

The physicality & athleticism still there. His warrior mentality seems to be gone. He thinks he’s sparring! Pacquiao’s magic in the ring was due to this fighting spirit. If it’s gone, he’s nothing special.
