he should have stuck with roach to be honest, he is not an intelligent fighter hence thinking does not suit him, he was dedicating too much time holding back and thinking rather than overwhelm his opponent.

Not shot, just doesnt have a defence and gets hit clean too often. Has previously shown no ability to cover up when hurt, but did have some improvement on that in the Diaz fight. Khan has a major, major flaw; he believes his own hype. He talks like he has already made it but, truth is, he has beaten some decent competition but has fallen short of the top, top level. The Peterson fight hurt, the Garcia fight totally derailed him and beating Carlos Molina isnt going to put him back on the map. Khan needs to shut his mouth and just concentrate on his next fight and stop looking past guys.

Knocked out by Tszyu in sparring 2005..Yeah I know Tszyu hit like a sledgehammer, however the writing was on the wall back then..

khan is a real joke,it is what it is .he wil get hurt bad if he stay in boxing.

Tomato Khan should retire, he is done

Posted May 17, 2013 12:54 am

Does Chinny equal shot? not really, but if Khan doesn’t learn to protect that chin he’s as good as shot. The thing I don’t like about Khan is he has the speed to actually beat a champion, but his chin could let him down against a average contender.

TARK

When a highly ranked boxer upgrades his skills he has to go all in and get crazy with it.. He needs at least 6 months of extremely intensive training to get rid of old habits, acquire new skills, and develop the necessary strength and endurance to execute the new skills over 12 rounds.. Its extremely taxing because the new skills aren’t instinctive, and they won’t be for some time.. It was the same thing with Ricky Hatton after he boxed so well against Paulie Malignaggi … after Ricky made the change to Floyd Mayweather Sr.. Paulie was a soft hitter and gave Hatton plenty of time to think … and implement all his new skills.. But Pacquaio was at the peak of his awesome game.. He didn’t give Ricky time to think. He didn’t give him a thing.

It helps if you transition against a few light hitters in a row, if you’re really having defensive issues…but Khan should be much farther along after his many months with Hill … I don’t get it. What’s holding him back??? … Maybe he’s just a slow learner.

Not everyone, obviously, is destined for greatness. Kahn is a very good fighter, but it seems he’ll never be great. No biggie. He’s exciting to watch, just match him with the right level of opponent and he’ll sell tickets.

Posted May 16, 2013 7:54 pm

srminimo

Neither, he just does not have the chin to compete at the level people expected from him.

Tipota.. Could’nt disagree with that

Kato3388 – Thanks! It’s true. He’s still fun to watch, but that’s cause of those very reason, fast, powerful but VERY vulnerable.

The guy sells tickets in the UK for some reason, otherwise he would be lucky to get a spot on ESPN at this point. Blame his trainers, blame the matchmaking, even make the patently absurd statement that his sparring has ruined him, but the truth is Khan is who is always was. He is a B level fighter with no punch resistance, who gets opportunities he hasn’t earned because he is a draw in the UK.

Oh, and my last comment is one upon which I insist.

Mayweather is cherrypicking Khan to avoid Pacquiao, Canelo, Martinez, Ward, Hopkins, Hernandez and the Klitschkos.

Titopia is on the money….. khan’s an exciting fighter and I like to watch his fights… but he doesn’t have a great chin or great defense.

Khan, unfortunately for him, brought an amateur style to professional boxing: jumping & shoe-shining instead of sliding & punching with proper form. He also has an stiff head while attacking & defending; after so many tough fights where he’s gotten his bell rung, quite frankly, i don’t see him reaching top level at all…in fact, retirement seems the more appropriate course of action for him.

Amir Khan is definitely not “a fighter in transition”.

Is he “shot”? That’s almost right: just change the “o” in “shot” to an “i” and you’re there.

A mere con.

that’s fake Boxtra at it again, Khan is an exiting fighter he’l never be the greatest but he’s a world class fighter in exiting fights every time, who cares if he loses.

Its bollocks these days that a fighters classed as a bum n finished after a few defeats. At least Khans willing to face anyone, before anyone mentions Prescot it was never likely to happen as he was never in the title picture. Garcia, Khan would jump in with tomorrow and Peterson he had signed to fight. At least the guys willing. More than can be said for a lot o guys these days.

i don’t know about the “nut sack swingers” but i know that the Floyd-Haters will insist that Mayweather is cherrypicking Khan to avoid Pacquiao*, Canelo, Martinez, and Ward.

Hidalgo. The reason there are so many articles on Khan is because there are only about 10 fights that will generate comments on this FAN SITE, oops! I mean “web site”.

He is shot that is why Floyd wants him

It’s not that Khan’s CHIN is necessarily bad, Khan’s DEFENSE is bad, and his quickness is BAD!! Khan has the bad habit of lowering his right hand when he throws the left hook leaving himself open to a counter left hook that he’s not QUICK enough to react to defensively so he gets caught and goes down. Khan also leaves his right hand out there after throwing it, instead of bringing it back to his guard, his opponents see this and counter him wiht a left hook that he doesn’t see and he goes down. When he gets into PANIC mode all of his flaws come out and that’s what Hunter has to work on and then Khan will do better. But an ELITE fighter Khan is NOT!

Khan has no future with that chin.

Too infer that he is shot is to say he was ever any good. Nope

He isn’t shot and he isn’t in transition. He just can’t take a good shot to his head

To say is he “shot” implies he was once good and now he’s not,Khan is past a transition period he’s been found out now, what alot of english fans knew along time ago all he has is fast hands end of.I’m not a hater of Khan but I admit I only watch him to see him get KOd,I just can’t do with listening to his over inflated ego and his horrible family crying and excuse makeing every time he comes up short

Khan is a fine fighter, and a decent puncher. He has great legs and stays in shape. His punch resistence, or lack of it, is a fatal flaw. That doesn’t mean he is not fun to watch. He is a good fighter, often in exciting fights and is making a fortune. No, he’s not the best fighter in the world, but I don’t think he is “shot.” Willie Limond and Michael Gomez decked him on his way up. He has the same shaky chin he had back then. This is nothing new.

Wow. Yet another negative article about Amir Khan. ESB is getting to be worse than a gossip column. What’s up! Khan, Khan, Khan, Khan, Khan! Love to hate him, love to talk about him. Really, give it a rest. Give Khan a rest. Let’s talk about something else!

khan isnt great to watch i once went to a mike tyson fight in the late 80s with kevin webster and jimmy saville was very enjoyable

Whatever Khan is, he’s not in transition. Khan simply does not have what it takes, and the sooner he comes to grips with that fact, the better off he’ll be.

He has been shot since his first knock out.

He is a fighter, not a champ. But a chump. He is not skillful fighter, his chin a very fragile. He is an incomplete fighter. He is lucky to be a former champion.

Khan is a talented but reckless fighter who doesn’t respect boxing skills enough to learn them but he sure as hell continues to pay a heavy tax for his lack of dedication. he will already never be the phenom he was initially billed to be. a potential matchup v. Mayweather is primarily shameless self-promotion from a self-deluded Khan. he needs to finally concede that he doesn’t possess the overwhelming talent or offensive aura that will intimidate opponents into simply allowing Khan to showcase his Tommy Hearns fantasy. otherwise, he’ll continue to be caught cold by fighters whose primary advantage is that they respect the sport and the fundamental skills necessary to compete and are also able to detect and exploit a poser when they’re lucky enough to catch one in a Boxing ring.

“Exposed” is probably the better word. Hope he has a 2nd act in his future, though.

He’s not “shot”, he just doesn’t have a good defense, never had and probably never will…if you really watch Khan fight, he has an amateur style, very bouncy and darts in and out throwing punches, yes he fast and does have some pop, but you can catch him in exchanges because he lacks defense…not to mention, he does NOT take a punch very well.
