Squared circle….No duck of the century there as you so grandly put it in capital letters…Not near to the one Vit pulled running faster than Blade Runner away from C Byrd….The cowardly rabbit was sent back to the Ukraine after pulling the Liston torn shoulder move… Even when Byrd asked him in front of journalists he still refused to answer…Nuff said..

LMAO! Still whining over Vitali’s TKO loss to Lennox, soon to be TEN YEARS AGO…

Posted May 19, 2013 12:13 pm

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Vitali Klitschko clearly outboxed Lewis and was ahead (4-2) on all scorecards.
The cut that stopped the fight was a direct result of LL illegally raking with the heel and palm of his glove. But it should have went to the cards after being stopped, regardless. VK forced LL into retirement at the young age of 37, which is now known throughout the entire world as THE DUCK OF THE CENTURY. LL ruined and befouled his own legacy forever by ducking what would’ve been the biggest rematch in boxing history. The cowardly lion was sent back to the UK with his tail between his legs and his head down in shame. PERIOD. Nuff said.

Unbiased Dane

Its a fact that Lennox didn bang up Vitali. Lennox was saved by a cut. Lennox knew he was lucky to get this win, and he couldnt rely on another lucky cut, so he tried to go on as a champion without rematching Vitali.

SREDMOND

K2 YOU are the one who cannot accept that when the smoke cleared Vitali looked like he had gone thru a windshield and that he LOST… You clearly are all alone in the arena waiting for a different outcome…. LMAO!

Posted May 19, 2013 10:58 am

SREDMOND

Vitali had one round (2) where he had Lewis buzzed but lacked the power to capitalize and in the next round Lewis WON it and he blew Klits face open.. By the 6th round which Klits lost on all 3 cards Lewis had Vitali leaking from FIVE different places…Vitali was hit with the most brutal shots of the fight (uppercuts)…. The damage to Vitali is VERY NOTABLE and his paltry lead proved to be cold comfort when compared to his getting TKoed

K-2- Fan

No matter what you write , Slater , setting Vitaly’s cut as an example of a
” battering ” , seems laughable , since the whole world saw that it was the
other guy ; Lennox who was being battered ! ALL the judges must have felt this way as well , since ALL of them , had Vitaly WINNING the fight ! Yes , it
was a cut , a very bad cut , s…t happens , but it was Vitaly who BEAT UP
Lewis and had HIM stumbling and staggering all over the place AND LOSING !
Only incompetent , biased , writers like Slater and trolls like this Sredmond cannot accept this !

With two eyes Denis is unbeatable. Jones wins against one eye only, this is understood by all except the agenda types and the stupid.

Tark, Vitalis face was cleanly BLOWN open with crisp right hands… Lewis gave him one of the worst cuts in modern boxing history… It was a thing of beauty the work he did and Klits was rightfully saved and charged with a loss that haunts him to this day as he fights for a level of respect that will always elude him facing Manuel Charr and other forgettable foes… Stop making excuses….

Lebedev now was on the other side of the beating. Never even close to a prime Roy Jones or Toney. Overrated, tho showed alot of heart.

Nice corner guys they should take a beaten like that

Crazy fight, real epic. Best fight in modern times, we need a rematch, king will earn big bucks for the rematch. Lebedev has tons of heart, sad with the cut.
As long lebedev doesnt get damaged, i believe Lebedev couldnt get an better introduction to the boxing fans. This is what proffesional boxing is all about, back to old times, def. The hardest sport in the world.
Huge respect to botn fighters, real men

Ferocious rabbit

I watched the fight and both did a great job boxing. It was never one sided. Lebedev’s crew may have believed he was winning and throwing in the towel would be giving away the fight to Jones. It shouldn’t be winning at all cost. Great fight.

Anyone know what Jones weighed on fight night?

Jones looked like quite a large heavyweight.

This fight should have been stopped long before it was, no boxer should look like that after a fight.

This fight should’ve been stopped. You live ti fight another day. Now your carreer might be over. Bad Corner, Ref and Doctor too.

TARK

Slater writes…, “looking far worse than Vitali Klitschko did when he was banged up by Lennox Lewis, and worse than George Foreman looked when Alex Stewart turned him into a grotesque mess back in 1992.” … Vitali wasn’t “banged” up. He was actually ahead on points on all 3 judges’ cards. VK had three deep slashes in his face that were ripped open with the heel and palm of Lewis’s right glove—as Lewis held VK’s head with his left hand. There was very little swelling around the deep cuts on his left eyelid that led to the stoppage, or on the deep slash that was opened on his left cheek. There was little head trauma and VK was never staggered or hurt … In contrast, Foreman suffered no massive cuts in the Stewart fight—but his head looked like it was beaten with a baseball bat. Foreman made a vow following the Ali fight, where he finished the fight relatively unmarked, “I was tired but I could have gotten up. I swore I would DIE before I ever let another referee count me out.” His resolve was duly noted in his fights with Ron Lyle and Alex Stewart.

Referee Stanley Chrisadoulu is one of the best and fairest referees around, he did a good job. Lebedev showed the heart of a champion though he still may not be one, Both gave the fans value for money. Lets hope they are both alright. Fight of the year, even if the year is still young, Denis knocked out a Jones and a better Jones came along and beat him up.

Fight Aficionado

Twitter started blowing up in correspondence with Lebedev’s eye. They should’ve stopped it earlier even though he was winning. Hope he recovers and doesn’t have permanent damage. Guys like him are what boxing needs. All heart.

Most fighters fight pro to make a better life for themselves and their families financially, but what good is this when they are cabbages with a whole lot of money? The south African ref was a disgrace, he was most likely paid to favor Lebedev, he could have caused him his life.

Boxing is a brutal sport and just because this guy looks like hell, this is boxing. It is not for the faint of heart , it is not figure skating. Tell this writer to shut the fk up and go watch some tennis. Both these guys will be back in the ring again. Even American football is a game of hits and brute strength but guys like this writer want to turn it into flag football.

Talk about having a corner that dont give a crap….

Prof Konje

I completely agree with Slater regarding that this fight should have been stopped long before it was. The only time that I had seen an eye injury as bad as or worse than Lebedev’s was Carmen Basilio’s eye after the Robinson fight. I have often said that a boxer’s corner could have him killed. Someone must be compassionate and use good judgement; evidently this was not done in this fight.

It’s certainly good to see we still have brave corner men….The ref was amazing, stood his ground,he wasn’t going to be called a coward because some loss of blood especially as it wasn’t his…no way he was stopping this fight…..No, him and the doctor come from tough stock….Take a bow you tossers,be proud, you have just put boxing back 50 years…..Any time someone knocks boxing they will site this fight…

Spindog

It was a great battle, both men gave it there all, but I have to agree with the author, from about the 6th round I was wincing every time lebedev was hit, I feel his promotors and corner men hung him out to dry, I’ve no doubt the ringside doctor was pressured by the promotors and the crowd to let lebedev continue when really it should have been stopped, lets not take anything away from the fighters though, it was a great fight to watch, and a great victory for jones, who lets not forget is 41 and had been out the ring for over a year. I read he refused a drug test post fight though? And he has previous, I wonder if anything will come of it??

apart from that it wasnt a bad little scrap.

bronersboner.

lebedev gave it his best shot and jones took the power.he wont be damaged by this but lebedev probably had a broken eye socket which may never fully heal.both will be back strong.there true warriors.lebedev needs a long rest before fighting to let himself heal properly.
