Huck vs Povetkin was fun to watch, but Huck isn’t a great boxer.

Yeah. should be a comfy win for Wlad.

But you never know, maybe AP at the top of his game might make this interesting.

@ dg, just b/c US doesn’t dominate HW div. anymore doesn’t mean K bros and other top HWs are “not known anywhere”. I also like top fights in most any weight class. However among casual boxing fans HW >> lower wt classes.

Even if Povetkin would be doped, he would have no chance. Mariusz Wach was doped and he has lost every single round.

To echo the last post , Povetkin ate so many right hands from huck, wlad will likely retire him

Ridiculous to think that Povetkin will end up anything other than roadkill after this fight.
He went life and death with Cap’n Huck, who campaigns at CW, and had there been another minute to the last round, then Huck would won their fight.
So if Povetkin struggles against a CW, what on earth is he going to do when Wlad starts landing at will on his jaw? And lets be honest, Wlad is a far greater techician than Huck, with a damn sight more power too.

This has got whitewash written all over it.

Unless they do some dirty tricks, I don’t see a chance for Povetkin.

Oleg Maskaev sure had Rahman’s number too. Remember him sending Hasim through the ropes? Oleg was thrown to the wolves early on in his US career, and put in against Mc Call and Tua while unseasoned. He did well to bounce back and win the WBC crown. Oleg has come back again, but he’s a bit old now.

A battle of Olympic gold medallists. Povetkin is a good fighter, he just won’t be good enough (or big enough) to beat Wlad. I don’t think anyone is good enough to beat Wladimir right now. I’m hoping the bout cones off with no controversy attached.

Sorry, but Alexander Povetkin just don’t have what it takes to defeat a top Wladimir Klitschko if he just don’t land a lucky hard punch to Wladimir’s chin and then makes it to follow it up with a fast and hard hook series and I doubt that will happen, but in boxing annything can happen during 12 rounds. By the way Oleg Maskeiev fought few interesting fights in his career.

Pulev-Wlad 2013!

THERE IS BOXING AND THEN THERE IS HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING. Europe is not interested in Prima Donna Maywhatever. The hype about him is only because the USA has no heavyweights to beat the Klitschkos . Americans are frustrated, so they ignore them. Good for Europe ! Now EUROPE is the heart of heavyweight division !

Otherwise Wladimir will accomplish his goal of walking around the ring like a man with a rifle, constantly firing from it, until he hits his target.”

This is exactly , what ‘s gonna happen!
But still interesting and anticipated fights!

IF mayvazer was FLYWEIGHT then US MEDIA would have made that FLYWEIGHT division the most glamorous division in America, just to keep an American in the driver sit so to say. that’s pretty obvious. why oh why KlichKO brothers are not Americans?! now we are forced to watch boring 12 rounder mayvazer like it’s second coming of Jesus Christ! :)

Posted May 30, 2013 3:37 am

harry

dg. NOBODY IN EX-SOVIET COUNTRIES AND WHOLE EUROPE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT BORING MIDGETS LIKE MAYVAZER OR PACIAO. YOU KNOW, THE BIGGEST CONTINENT DOESN’T CARE ABOUT AMERICAN-BASED MIDGETS AT ALL! The fact that Americans switched from heavyweight to welterweight means just one thing – Americans don’t like to be losers! But who does?! :)

@ dg: “that are not known anywhere”
Unless you live on the moon, everyone knows who Klitschko are.
Take your head out of …. sand. LOL!

dg – Harry’s right, nobody really cares about welterweight outside America. Klitschko “not known anywehre” ? Don’t think so.

I’m worried about this political thing, this fight will not be only a sport fight… And I fear a manipulation from the russian site. But the Klitschkos are extremely cautious. Tszyu is now the trainer of Povetkin, he will definitely work on Povetkin’s stamina. But Klitschko is to big for him in every way. Anyway, it will be exciting.

Harry, Mayweather next fight is much more interesting than this fight between two unequal opponents that are not known anywhere. Povetkin vs Klit is more political show, Mayweather vs Canelo – boxing.

Posted May 30, 2013 1:31 am

dg

I’m afraid Klitchko might face some troubles that are not directly related to boxing. Povetkin’s managers know that he doesn’t have a chance against Klit, and fight is in moscow, i’m afraid they might do some dirty tricks.

Posted May 30, 2013 1:23 am

dg

Maskaev is right, speed, toughness, everything he said is a key to beat Klitchko, too bad Povetkin doesn’t have any of those characteristics. He is slow, sissy, bad defense, and he has much worse stamina and physical abilities than Klit has. Maskaev in his best could do some difference, but not pinky pig Povetkin.

Lman

They are both fairly equal in the skill department but Wlad has better foot movement, hits harder and is bigger, good big man beats good small man, by KO…

Posted May 30, 2013 12:02 am

rod

I think it will be similar to the Chagaev fight. Wlad has too much of a physical and athletic advantage. Povetkin has to take away Wlads jab. Good luck doing that.

this corruption rotten Russia will use every trick to poison Vladimir in Moscow to make sure their political project Sasha Povetkin wins those 5-6 championship belts of Vladimir KlichKO. I’m sure KlichKO team is aware of that very well.

greylo LOL! What excitement in lower divisions??? boring welterweights SUCK if you meant them. nobody outside America watches boring midget mayvazer. FACT.

Posted May 29, 2013 9:55 pm

Rasputin

Contrary to what other commentators say above, Povetikin has sick skils, throwing the most schooled combos in the division with a lot of punch variety. His problem is that he is a lazy bastard and doesn’t seem to train too hard.

Posted May 29, 2013 9:43 pm

TARK

Maskaev states…, “The key to victory, is to cause your opponent physical pain:” That’s really a unique concept.. Hit your opponent. Cause him pain. Repeat this process until you win. The old KISS formula.

BigfootMonster

Povetkin isn’t the most talented boxer out there, he is just a tough guy with a good chin. Klitschko by TKO in 8th or 9th.

Posted May 29, 2013 8:51 pm

Looking forward to it! Klitschko by KO

This will be a very exciting and explosive fight !

Posted May 29, 2013 6:31 pm

Greylo

Hmm, Povetkind has a decent number of tko’s and some ko’s but does he have enough power to trouble Wlad? Or the skills. I can’t imagine he could out box Wladimir. He’d better have his chin on that night if they do fight cause he’s going to get hit with some big shots.

Still it’s a fight I’d like to see. There is hardly anyone out there besides the Klitchko’s that have the KO power and skills to match.
This just isn’t a good era for heavyweights. All the excitement is in the lower weight classes.

Posted May 29, 2013 6:11 pm

Not to forget the great stamina Klitschko has. Povetkin doesn’t have it.
