OH I see that guys want to nit pick. OK. Mikey is the BEST young Fighter of Mexican descent and I am CORRECT on that.Posted June 17, 2013 12:28 pm
Q-No need to apologize. My skin is thicker than COW hide. I was drinking and fell into some puzzy last night and then I passed out. What you posted here is no factor in that.Posted June 17, 2013 12:25 pm
Mikey’s looking good. I buy his reason for not making weight. However, few fans will accept it if he does it again…. As far as the fight itself, Mikey looked great, you could see from the onset, Lopez didn’t have much of a chance at all. He looked sluggish and off. Salido damaged him for good.Posted June 17, 2013 9:19 am
Q you think your a boxing fan an u haven’t seen the Juanma vs Salido fight lol. An yes Mikey is Mexican, rather it be Mexican from Mexico or Mexican American.Posted June 17, 2013 4:32 am
Canelo can not execute nor demonstrate ( as yet to witness ) 50% of what JMM can do in the ring TECHNIQUE wise cmon its not even close ( as where yet to see) JMM is PROVEN ..Canelo is not …..Posted June 17, 2013 3:11 am
better right uppercut…Posted June 17, 2013 2:12 am
JMM is great… But one win in 4 fights vs Pacquiao… Lost to Floyd… Lost to John… Lost to Norwood…
Canelo??? He’s unbeaten.. If he beats Floyd he’ll still be unbeaten… He has better speed than Marquez for sure. Has better range on his jab and straight right.. Better fight uppercut… More devastating body puncher.. Quicker feet.. A lot fresher and stronger.
Marquez has added a lot of strength since meeting Floyd.. Obviously a more powerful, harder punching, and more weight adjusted fighter. He caught Floyd when he was drinking pee… Not a good idea to begin with — much less to prep for the world’s best fighter.
Somebody was joking with him.. If somebody told me eating Brillo Pads would triple my strength — I wouldn’t care how well recommended they were by experts in the game.Posted June 17, 2013 2:11 am
Mikey isn’t a Mexican just like Juanma isn’t a Mexican, get over it, and Mikey’s idol in boxing is FMJ. Get over it.Posted June 17, 2013 1:51 am
te tumbo: What’s with the “mono” stuff? ¿eres tonto o te haces? You feel like writing stupidity online? get a life.Posted June 17, 2013 1:50 am
We can say that Canelo hasn’t reached his PRIME, but who knows if he hasn’t. He can possible get better, or he could hit his roof early, stay at a certain level “good enough to be the Trouts and small fighters” but then never be #1 say when he has to move up to 160. There is this idea that he’s going to get better and better and better, but… that’s a POSSIBILITY. Yes he’s young, but he’s had over 40 bouts and what he does is rather clear in the ring… there aren’t too many tricks…. he doesn’t even strike me as the type of fighter to grow more crafty… I don’t know… he’s definitely big at 154, and talented.Posted June 17, 2013 1:48 am
hecdog: Take your ignorant ass to sleep man. Canelo is not in likely will never be better than Juan Manuel Marquez. that’s ridiculous. And if Canelo loses badly to FMJ, it will be just that. A lose to a legend. Although he’s too big to be losing badly to a 36 year old little guy, but we will see. But yeah, you haven’t a clue about boxing if you think Canelo is better than JMM… you could at least say you THINK he has that potential, but then again… it could just be that he’s on a biggest stage younger… lots of these guys are terrific at young ages, but they don’t have that fame. Floyd was younger than Canelo, and a top P4Per, a Lineal Champion and the Fighter of the Year winner. He’s actually behind compared to the great fighters of today… namely a FMJ.Posted June 17, 2013 1:43 am
based on Garcia’s post-fight explanation, becoming ill disrupted his training regimen and compelled him to eat and fully hydrate apparently right up to the weigh-in and that’s what resulted in the extra 2lbs. although, it wouldn’t have made any difference. Garcia would’ve only been quicker and perhaps even stronger if his preparation had not been disrupted by illness. even so, Lopez still couldn’t make it past the 4th round and must now join Cotto, Rosado, Dulorme, and Quintana guarding the gate.Posted June 17, 2013 1:42 am
The Mad Scientist
Dang!, some dude here said Juanmono has been retires by mexican fighters..Lol!, c’mon guy stop it, you’re gonna make somebody cry..Lol!Posted June 17, 2013 1:38 am
CORRECTAMUNDO: Bad choice of words, he’s clearly no long a “prospect” but you said he was the best years ago before he proved anything? That’s called ignorance and stupidity. I gauged his skills when they were set to be challenged, then I made my review of him as a P4Per. Yes he’s better than Canelo, but Canelo is Mexican and Mikey is AMERICAN.. so although you are riding my coattail, it was pretty obvious his skill set even before I wrote about it. But yeah, you’re 100% WRONG. Mikey isn’t a Mexican fighter, he’s American. And I personally think that Abner Mares has proven more than Canelo against more consistent levels of challenges (Mares is Mexican) …and I still have to see Santa Cruz, but I think Mikey is better than them both… but it doesn’t matter, he’s American they’re Mexicans. They can compete for the #1 Mexican fighter thingy. Mikey is an American P4P level fighter.Posted June 17, 2013 1:38 am

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)
Canelo is ONLY 22, guys, and hasn’t yet reached his PRIME. Let’s try to keep that in perspective when comparing to other ATGs — Mexican or otherwise.Posted June 17, 2013 1:00 am
Canelo is better than Juan Manuel Marquez, but there’s been plenty of better Mexican fighters than Canelo. Let’s See, Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, Ruben Olivares, Carlos Zarate and plenty more. Canelo has a lot to prove still, and if he can some how manage to beat Mayweather, his stock and stature rise quickly. If he loses badly, he was just an over hyped flash in the pan.Posted June 17, 2013 12:53 am
Mikey Garcia should be ashamed of himself. He didn’t make weight after all the talk that came out of his mouth that he wouldn’t have a problem making weight. He says that he was supposedly sick, which I question. The fight could have easily been rescheduled, but don’t come out and be 2 pounds over the limit. Very unprofessional IMO. He then comes in weighing 142 plus? Sorry Mikey, move on to the next division. Your body can’t can’t cut the weight any longer. Juanma wouldn’t have beaten Mikey, but fighters not making weight is inexcusable. Like Max was saying. These guys that can afford to come in over weight because they can pay the fine is ridiculous. Never did you see past eras with that crap. Mayweather did it with Marquez, Broner did it with Escobedo and now Mikey id it to Lopez. This is a true honorable sport that needs to be respected by all fighters. I’ve seen club fighters never once not making weight.Posted June 17, 2013 12:48 am
Mikey Garcia, the one time champ who could not even defend his title once. What an excuse of a champ. I like Juanma but he seemed like he came just for a payday which was further evidenced by accepting fathead’s 150K bribe. Juanma did not appear remotely close to who he was two years ago and so, made fathead’s win look spectacular.Posted June 17, 2013 12:48 am
LOL no way is Canelo better than JMM ..Posted June 17, 2013 12:37 am
Pero que le pasa a esb, me blokean mi nombre!!!! Guess they don’t like colombians in here.
Mikey is an American… Canelo is the best young Mexican fighter… Actually he’s the best Mexican fighter of any age.
But Mikey is better.. He may be better than Rigondeaux.. He’s met better fighters than Broner has to date.. Juan Manuel Lopez was 33-2..
Neither Broner or Garcia has met a great, or even good boxer yet, and obviously that won’t change on June 22… To me, they’re both great boxers who haven’t met ultimate opponents. Many World Champions never meet a good boxer in their entire careers.. Hatton didn’t until 5 fights to go in his career.. Trinidad didn’t meet a great prime boxer in his first 40 fights … and so he was a huge favorite to beat Hopkins.Posted June 17, 2013 12:17 am
Correctomundo not so fast my friend…Leo Santa Cruz #1 ….#2 Mikey Garcia ..#3 CaneloPosted June 17, 2013 12:04 am
juanma is finished. Time to hang them up.Posted June 16, 2013 11:24 pm
Q-NICE observation. But Mikey is no longer a Prospect. He’s a World CHAMP. As I SAID months ago or even a YEAR ago. Mikey is the BEST young Mexican Fighter in the WORLD…. And Canelo is the 2nd BEST.Posted June 16, 2013 11:21 pm
Ghost: Don’t exaggerate. I haven’t seen his (Juanma’s) fights with Salido, but I’ll tell you one thing. Mikey Garcia is the #1 yuong Mexican prospect in the sport today IMO (if one is better I haven’t seen him fight).. even though he’s American/estadounidense…. so nevermind…. Juanma only lost to one Mexican and that was Salido.Posted June 16, 2013 11:03 pm
Juanmama got destroyed, Mikey made juanmama look puerto rican lol he beat that boy, but we already knew it would happen. I thought juanmama would last atleast 8 rounds, he is done the Mexican fighters retired him.Posted June 16, 2013 10:47 pm
Very good post, Tark…you’re absolutely right on!!Posted June 16, 2013 10:46 pm

Papo quit being a sore loser…Mikey was not even 100% and still k.o Juan ma…if he would’ve been 100% he would’ve finished Juan ma in the 2nd rd.Posted June 16, 2013 10:22 pm
Next up for Garcia is Rocky Martinez….Posted June 16, 2013 10:20 pm
IF Juanma was concerned with weight then he should have balooned UP 20 lbs after the weigh in like Canelo DOES. But he didnt’ SO the Excuses are FUTILE.Posted June 16, 2013 10:01 pm
Respects the Sport?? LOL didn’t this dumbfk just throw the title away because he refused to lose the 2lbs to get to the Mandated 126lb Weight Class? And if Mickey Garcia had been stripped why was he allowed to walk in with the Belt??? It was just a sideshow for Garcia, as Max Kellerman pointed it, Once again the House fighter buys himself a huge Weight advantage over his opponent.. like Mayweather vs Marquez and Broner vs Escobedo… Shameful..Posted June 16, 2013 9:57 pm
It’s Me, Ernie
It’s refreshing to see a young champ who is not a sideshow, respects the sport and is clean, with exceptional talent…Posted June 16, 2013 9:47 pm
Q: Yes, you did mention a few days ago about Mikey being an extremely good fighter and he show it against Lopez. He did comment he’ll fight at 130, but would come down to 126 if he needed to. He has the height and the reach to do well at 130, so I don’t understand his insistence to stay at 126.Posted June 16, 2013 9:43 pm
He did say he was sick a few days before the fight and that caused him to come in heave. Not sure how true that is but if he struggles to make weight he should move up. He has the skills so I don’t see an issue. But there was nothing at all Lopez could if done no matter what weightPosted June 16, 2013 9:13 pm
Papo: Well, I told you what would likely happen, Mikey has upper echelon skills…. but I didn’t watch the bout and didn’t know about all that you said… and I think if he missed his weight, and by two pounds, he should show some respect to the sport and his opponent and move up, that’s really unprofessional and not the first time a Robert Garcia fighter missed weight for a championship bout.Posted June 16, 2013 8:43 pm
I just watched the replay, and again, there’s no way for Juanma to defeat a very talented fighter as Garcia. Garcia executed the fight just as instructed by his corner, waiting for Juanma to commit himself.
The one negative about the fight and Garcia was the weigh-in. He came in two pounds above the limit, which by themselves two pounds doesn’t mean much, but it also mean that a few hours before the fight he must have been six or more pounds over the limit.
What happened next and his comments after the fight have me puzzled. The vomiting after the weigh-in appeared to be staged and one must wonder why. He was vomiting in front of a camera while standing by a doorway to add drama and make sure the camera could catch the whole “action”.
The other things were his reasoning or excuses for coming in overweight. He stated after the fight that he thought he could make the weight. But he also said that if he trained harder the next time, he would make 126 for sure. So I wonder, did he mean he didn’t train hard enough for this fight or he didn’t try hard enough to make 126. If he didn’t try to make the weight he should admit it and don’t make excuses.
Bu then, when pushed for further explanation, he stated the he was sick for a few days and that was probably the reason why he came in overweight. So at first, he didn’t train hard enough, but then changed it to being sick for a couple of days. But it didn’t stop there, when asked if he was going to go up to 130, he stated that if he watched his diet a little better he could make 126. So there, three excuses, didn’t train hard enough, was sick for a couple of days during training, to he didn’t follow a proper diet.Posted June 16, 2013 8:32 pm
I SAID that Mikey Garcia should be Top 10 P4P and I was CORRECT!!!Posted June 16, 2013 8:12 pm
