Gonzo the Dragonborn

Great story brother Hidaldo.

You’re one lucky son of a gun to live or have lived in such a beautiful place like California. Gonzo is very jealous indeed. :)

Gonzo the Dragonborn

That’s a brilliant idea brother Mongrel. Some form of vulture based tribute to Suzie’s memory would be guaranteed to raise Marge’s spirits. In fact, I already constructed a mobile made out of vulture skulls and talons for Marge to hang over her bed which she seemed delighted with.

Lol brother Mongrel. I think Chavez’s also utilizes vulture fact #13 to help him get down to MW too: He urinates on his legs and feet. lol

Allow me to apologize for the late reply.. I haven’t had any free time the past week as I’ve been very busy keeping Marge company trying to offer her some comfort and solace in her time of need. The poor dear is still devastated about losing Suzie. She’s in floods of tears pretty much all of the time. To tell you the truth I’m more than a little miffed at her for preventing me from fulfilling my duty and obligation as the ambassador for spreading vulture awareness. In fact, I did actually try to sneak on here yesterday afternoon whilst she was having a little nap but within seconds of my starting up the PC she awoke from her slumber and was in floods of tears again. My frustration nearly boiled over into violence and I was this close to giving her a little dig in the kidney while she had her back turned to me.

“Fact 16 is actually one of Gonzo’s favourite vulture facts.” Gonzo, when I was in jr. high school I was out riding a scooter with a buddy in the orange groves of Irvine, Ca. We rode down this one road and saw several huge vultures feeding on a cow carcass–the cow had been hit by a vehicle. The first thing and noticed about the vultures (because I wasn’t sure what they were)–and the last thing I remember about them, is that they had huge wing spans. They held their wings out as they fed on the carcass and in my young mind I estimated their wingspan to be about 12 feet as they looked like they spread nearly all the way across the narrow paved road we were riding on. When I got home I called the California Dept. of Fish and Game and told them I thought I saw California Condors because of their huge wingspan. I told them where I saw them, what they were doing, and that a friend was with me. I was told that California Condors were extinct in the wild and that I had to be mistaken. Bear in mind I had never studied anything about condors–except what I learned in Science class or saw on the news. This incident occurred long before California Condors started to be reintroduced to the wild in 1991. I maintain to this day that they were California Condors. So does my buddy.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

This Joker totally leap-frogged 140lbs because he knew he would get exposed by 3-5 different tuff guys at that weight. Much easier to go mug feather-fisted Paulie for his paper WW title and avoid all the super-stiff competition at Jr. WW. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Broner goes and mugs Alexander (feather dusters) or Khan (China Chin) next for a couple more OVER-HYPED easy victories.

No 16 is special. I also understand this is how Chavez Jnr makes the MW limit.

That is downright decent of you helping Marge from Cumbria through this difficult time. Receiving memorabilia related to the destroyer of Michael Bent would be a soothing balm to any wound.

I understand that people can also find benefit and solace from acknowledging the idea of the circle of life. Perhaps a personalised Vulture fact regarding how long dear Suzies remains would sustain a small family of vultures would help bring an glimmer or relief to Marge’s pain.

Gonzo’s Vulture Facts of the Day.

15. The crow-sized hooded vulture is the smallest of these birds with a wingspan of only five feet. It is found sub-Saharan Africa.

16. When threatened, vultures vomit to lighten their body weight so they can escape more easily into flight. Vomiting also serves as a defense mechanism to deter predators that may be threatening the birds.

Gonzo the Dragonborn

Sincerest apologies for the delay brother Mongrel. I mostly loiter about on the Golden Retriever forums these days and I’ve been slacking a bit and neglecting my duty to bring vulture awareness to ESB, which as you well know is something that I take very seriously indeed.

Incidentally, one of members on Golden Retriever Forum.com (a lovely lady in her late 60s from Cumbria named Marge) beloved pet Retriever named Suzie passed away last week. The poor dear is utterly inconsolable. I sent her a bouquet of flowers and my signed autographed Herbie Hide glove. Hopefully it might bring her some measure of solace to her in this dark and testing time, even if only fleetingly.

Just thought I’d pass on that information to you. I’m not quite sure why but I’ve done it now and there’s no going back.

Having said that as a boxing fan it’s a case again of my heart wanting Paulie to win but my head telling me broner will win, please let my heart be right for once!!! Props to Paulie for taking this fight, he’s gotta move jab and maybe fight dirty on the inside to show broner he’s no punk, maybe just maybe broner won’t fancy it after 8 rounds??? I doubt it but stranger things have happened.

Hidalgo, I don`t doubt Paulie’s balls, he believes in himself and backs himself, I have no problem with that – I like him, he`s colourful and confident and a rent-a-quote.

“But two world titles the hard way?”

He beat Ndou for Hattons vacant title when Ricky moved up, and Ricky took it straight back off him when he moved down, and even in between Malignaggi nearly lost it to Ndou.

Then Senchenko – how good is he? The shot-coked-pacmanned Hatton nearly beat him after 3 years out.

What Malignaggi has done is skillfully pick some of the low hanging fruit, and lost whenever a major player has turned towards him.

Perhaps I am being harsh, but I remember Malignaggi making videos when Hatton was thinking of returning to JWW, where he was punching on a speedball saying “I`ve got your belt Ricky. I`ve got your belt. Come and get it Ricky, you`ll get some of this and this”. He was berating Hatton for being slow and straightforward, trying to equate himself with Mayweather.

And after all the talk HAtton had him cowering after two rounds.

You foolishly continue to laud Manny Pacquiao and you just as foolishly berate Paulie Malignaggi. Blind love and blind hate. It’s really something. At least the guy tries. He has a lot of heart and courage. He’s fought the best. He’s always gone out swinging. And he always comes back. Yeah, I know it’s easy to put him down. Paulie knows this too, he even admits that his antics have done him more harm than good in the past. So he’s toned it down a lot. He was a brash, loud-mouthed kid. So what? But he’s up for this fight and he wants to win more than anything in the world. I say cut him some slack. He’s an icon in the sport, he’s a great warrior, and he’s fun to listen to and watch. And he’s a pretty damn good boxing analyst/commentator as well. Look, you’ll be watching this fight because you know it will be interesting and exciting. Even though you are positive Broner will win, you will watch the fight. So will millions of other boxing fans and non-boxing fans alike. You and anyone else can put him down all you want, but he’s the guy wearing a championship belt right now. He’s the two-time world champion. Earned the hard way. If he loses to Broner, he’ll lose the hard way. Can’t ask anymore from a boxer than that.

Hidalgo

Paulie is a bit of a circus act, he has lived off of his mouth.” Well Mongrel, I know where you’re coming from but really, is Paulie any more of a circus act than Adrien Broner? How about Floyd Mayweather Jr. with his video cell phone rants screaming at Pacquiao insulting his heritage and calling him names? How about Bernard Hopkins doing pushups in the ring in the middle of a fight? Or wearing his excutioner’s hood? “Circus acts” have long been a part of boxing as well as a number of other sports. Often they are good for the sport and often they are not. But we all like colorful figures in sports.

As for Paulie having “lived off his mouth.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Paulie was a jr. welterweight champ and now he’s a welterweight champ. He won both belts by fighting for them. For the second one he travelled half way around the world and took a championship from a guy nobody wanted to fight. Paulie took a big chance doing that but he came back with another title and belt. No one thought Senchenko was important. But now that Paulie has his belt, Paulie’s worth fighting. Broner is going after Paulie’s belt because he thinks its the easiest welterweight belt to get. Paulie knows this. But he’s still going to fight Broner. How many of us have that kind of balls?
Sure, Paulie is likely to get his ass whupped by Broner. Paulie didn’t have to take this fight. But he did. There’s a lot more than a circus act behind Paulie Malignaggi.

Mongrel

It`s not like it is just Hatton who dealt with Paulie. Khan peppered him, and was repeatedly landing similar punches, Paulie made no adjustments in that fight, and is predictable when you double or triple up the jab.

Paulie was useless vs Ndou, Ngoudjo, his dreadlocks were getting smashed all over. I give him credit for staying the course with Cotto – and they pulled a dirty trick on him moving the weigh in forward to buy Cotto extra time to rehydrate. But Cotto was dead at the weight by that point, he was getting wobbled by guys like Torres.

Paulie is a bit of a circus act, he has lived off of his mouth.

When people fight with a flashy style, they have a line up of people touting them as talented, but if it never translates into top level wins, at some point you have to say they aren`t THAT talented.

Senchenko, Ndou and Diaz are nice enough wins, and he has been lucky that he has been able to beat that level of guy and get two belts. His biggest win was with his mouth after he was robbed in Texas.

I give the guy props for achieving what he has with what he was given, he has carved out a great niche for himself, but he isn`t a danger to any top level fighter – that myth was busted loooong ago.

“Borner is easy to hit so they match him with non-punchers, if he’s so great why do they protect him? Malignaggi is a notorious non-puncher.” – In a nutshell that covers the bases. If Broner had the guts to test his ability against the best at 140 Matthysse he’d have been KTFO. Instead he sought the weak link at 147.

Of course Broner is going to win — that’s why he chose to cherry picking weak punching Paulie and bypass all the dangerous fighters at 140. So what? He’s the epitomy of what’s wrong with boxing today whenever we get a talented prospect. Excessive cherry picking prevents us from knowing his true ability.

Yeha I gotta say I was quite suspised when Hatton did what he did to Malignaggi. I always rated Malignaggi as a decent boxer until that fight. I expected Hatton to just walk through him, but he actually beat Paulie at his own game. Although looking back maybe we dont give Hattons skills the credit they deserve, but either way it was a poor showing on Malignaggi’s part. I would say though that although I expect Broner to win this one comfortably I dont think Broners style will lead him to make a spectacular job of disposing with Paulie and I think paulie style will allow him to see the fight out to a lop sided loss. I really dont think this fight will answer any questions currently being asked of either fighter. Broner should be stepping up the level above Paulie at the moment.

Broner is going to destroy and humiliate Malignaggi in every facet of boxing. The reality is Malignaggi has never beaten any top fighter he’s ever fought. His loud mouth and goofy looks have some how got him to this point. Who cares if he’s fought top level fighters, he’s always received an ass kicking. What exactly does he have to beat Broner? Some people talk as if he’s actually accomplished something special. Malignaggi always looks like a warrior after his fights because he’s always busted up. Broner is the real deal like him or not. He will be one of the best ever IMO. He has power, speed, defense, athletic, boxing ability, inside fighting. This is young confident boxer that takes his sport serious. Don’t be fooled by his antics. Broner by brutal stoppage around the 10th or 11th round. Broner is right, Malignaggi needs to prepare for his 8-5 commentating job.

You’re right there Tark, Hatton did outbox Paulie, but also McGirt was telling Paulie to sit down on his punches as if he believed Paulie could muster up some power from somwhere. Unfortunately for Paulie amd McGirt, there was no power to muster, and by that time Hatton was in his rythm and Paulie was left out to dry.

TARK

….. “As good of a Boxer that Paulie is” … He’s not good. Hatton out-boxed him.

Floyd Sr. “Listen to me Rick… This here skinny little MFer can’t box. We’re going to outbox him. Look Rick… Are you listening? He throws 10 jabs in a row. Just wait on his ass.” Rick did listen … That time.

This fight resembles Roy Jones moving up to heavyweight to fight John Ruiz. He could have challenged a tougher heavyweight, but would have lost. Against Ruiz he fought a guy that didn’t have a lot of punching power and knew he could outbox him. Broner chose Paulie for that same reason, not enough punching power. Also Paulie can box, it’ll be difficult to keep Broner away from him for twelve rounds.

I don’t see Paulie wining by KO nor out-boxing Broner for twelve rounds. Broner may be an ass for many boxing fans, but he knows how to fight and has power. Perhaps he’ll be willing to fight Pac without any drug testing clauses.

FEARS

I want to believe that Paulie will stick and move and Box Broner’s ears off, but it’s not just that simple. As good of a Boxer that Paulie is, he’s still not very hard to hit. Broner has great speed and power, but we know nothing about his footwork because he’s only been in with straight-ahead plodders who remained right in front of him to be hit like a heavy-bag. I’m not saying that he needs a lot of footwork, but he needs to be able to cut-off the ring and close distance enough to get off first sometimes. We also know nothing about Broner’s chin, unfortunately Paulie can’t answer that question for us.I’m expecting this fight to be exciting while it lasts, but I see Broner eventually catching up with Paulie and stopping him late. I also believe Paulie will have to dominate the rounds to have a good chance at a decision(he needs to look at Trout/Canelo to understand what I’m saying). Paulie is basically in a state of Trout. He physically can’t knock Broner out, and due to politics he can’t win a close decision, so his only option is a near shut-out of rounds, which is highly unlikely with a slick boxer/puncher like Broner. Nevertheless, I’ll be rooting for Paulie, Paulie, Paulie!!!

I agree,Broner can’t fight flatfooted against Paulie n win….look 4 Paulie 2 set a fast pace n box Broners ears off in a fight that resembles Winky-Trinidad..Paulie will take Broners overated power n smile..just like DeLeon did,n deleon was blasted out in 1 round by featherweight Juan Ma n dropped n stopped by Abner Mares, who was fighting at bantom a lil over a yr ago…plus watch as Broner closes his eyes when he punches….plus Earl Spence Jr knocked him cold in sparring in front of crowd in gym…Paulie not a big puncher, but will have Broner stumbling n looking as dumb and desperate as he looked when Broner stuffed his mouth in strippers crotch…Paulie by wide decision

lets hope he fighting lives up to the talking they have both been spouting lots of.

beast

It seems to me, Borner is easy to hit so they match him with non-punchers, if he’s so great why do they protect him? Malignaggi is a notorious non-puncher, so moving up two weight classes should be no factor. They want to make a matiness idol out of Broner, but I’m not impressed. The little English guy he fought last was blasting him the whole fight, but then he wasn’t much of a puncher. Demarco just stood in front of Broner all night and let him hit him, his wide punches were all arm punches. Litzau, he of the paper chin never did anything.

Hype Train

Broner isn’t as good as he thinks he is. I’ll be there the day he gets his head ripped off. You can already tell this guy is a fraud of gigantic proportions and will duck every challenge out there.
