NOT!! It can’t be 50/50 it may seem that way for a round or 2 but Canelo gets tired and fights in spurts. Those rounds will go to Mayweather. Then what will be plan B. Either way Canelo has to have one plan on his mind KO early!

Does anybody think that Alverez will just jump in the ring and have at Mayweather. Alverez is a smart fighter. He will have plans A-Z to use in the fight. I think it’s a 50/50 fight.

I remeber haters saying that Castillo beat Money (something that i agree with) and Castillo was destroyed by Hatton, then in acording to haters theory of “this guy beat that guy” Money was going to be devoured by Hatton… too bad haters never learn and keep refusing to pay homage to the King Money May

I think i have seen this history before, I mean when Money was going to fight Hatton all of the haters said Money was senteced to death cuz was facing the best body puncher, one of the strongest guys in sport and bla bla bla, once Hatton got outclassed and KTFOd lame excuses rained from everywhere, the history is being repeated.

Yes… But there’s not that prime time ATG fighter like Canelo anywhere on Floyd’s record… There’s not that 20-something ATG opponent — like there would be if he fought Pacquiao a few years ago.

Floyd may win this fight…but it will be his toughest.. Floyd needs this fight actually — to nail down his GOAT status with a few more “experts” who aren’t convinced as yet.

Nope… That won’t happen… Canelo will not be easy for Floyd.

Still don’t think he experienced??? They’e fighting for Canelo’s World Championship at 154.. Canelo has 3 World Championships and he’s the most recognized World Champion at 154.

Tark – Are you serious? Canelo is the best FM has ever faced? Canelo is good, I have said that loads of times, but FM’s resume is packed with top tier fighters. Canelo is young and hasn’t proved himself yet. If anything, when this fight is over and if FM dominates him, people will be claiming FM cherry-picked a young, inexperienced champion to pad his record.

The same was brought up with Pac and his catch-weights, especially the Margarito fight which was lower. The division starts above 147 and has a max limit of 154.

I’m not for the -2 pounds because I don’t think it matters. 2 pounds is psychological especially since Canelo has made weight below 154. All he does is rehydrate up.

Now here is a question for you since we are talking about the “154 pound Title”

Is it really a 154 pound title if a fighter is allowed to weigh above that by the time the actual fight happens?

If one fighter is at 154 (or lower) on fight night and the other is well above it; how is that fair?

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing) :

Some hit puberty faster than others. Some have their “man body” quicker than others. Canelo looks very thick and grown. If he gets stronger, maybe. Some do, so don’t. It depends on what we are talking about. If it is trained strength, yes; years of consistent training will make you stronger. But if you are talking about natural whatever you are strength…not always. Testosterone is very high at this time so you should be very strong.

What was Floyd doing at Canelo’s age?

So basically, people want Canelo to wait on Floyd to get even older before he fights him. Especially given Floyd’s current age, every year, hell, every month could be a drop-off.
You start having a lot more “off-days” in your mid-30′s than ever before. You risk over-training more so now than when you were younger. Your stamina can even decrease. Everything just decreases. But that’s where smarts comes into play. You need to make it your fight and not allow the young-gun to take-over.

SREDMOND :

When was Floyd’s peak?

Floyd’s an ATG I think below 147. After his move to 147, maybe just after Baldomir, he looked to decline a bit. Even now, against R.G. in his last fight, people are amazed but they need to watch fights that happened many years ago and then watch that fight…you’ll see the difference when side by side.

Boxer :

Agree, that’s the first thing that crossed my mind when the fight was made: Floyd HAD to make the fight because of the subpar PPV numbers (for him). If he could have, he would have fought the best from 140-147 because those fighters are actually his weight (or more on fight-night). There are very skilled fighters in those divisions but nobody as big and strong as Canelo. Big and Strong, with the right skill behind it, can apply heavy pressure and wear you down faster. Smaller fighters, especially ones moving up, are always susceptible to body-shots much more against “naturally” bigger guys.
Shane, Oscar, and Cotto weren’t natural jrMW. All moved up.

Floyd Mayweather at his peak could honestly beat more than one Top 10 boxer in his weight class on the same night likely going 22 rounds between the two… I ACTUALLY mean that he is simply on another level some of the inept, emotional and amateur arguments on here cannot mask or detract from his GROSSLY superior skillset… Nowadays a World Class fighter is simply considered a “No Hoper” against FMJ which is more a testament to his skills than anything, he is NOT a brutal one punch KO artist so what keeps these guys from doing their respective “Thing” its is SKILLSET, RING INTELLIGENCE and HANDSPEED… Canelo and Guerrero are both guys who have been Champion and are clearly World Class but against Floyd thats just NOT good enough because he is the BEST in the sport and has been considered as such for many years or in the conversation since taking Corrales apart…Guys should be ASHAMED that they are making all these estrogen-laden excuses for why prime fighters cannot do better with a guy creeping up on 37 years of age in the lower weight divisions where reflexes and stamina are premium items… Its Mayweathers ERA and he is RULING with an IRONFIST and indomitable WILL…. The collective result of your disdain and excuses is a 250 million dollar Showtime Contract, P4P #1, 44-0 and being the highest paid athlete in the world… We have to conclude you have FAILED miserably!

I love Floyd you know he’s a monster, but let’s be real he was forced to fight Canelo, when showtime puts 250 million in a fighter and all access only has 17000 people watching, another 872000 watching the fight, you gotta step it up and that’s what Floyd was forced to do otherwise I’m pretty sure we’d be waiting on Him to face Amir khan, predictions on the fight are simply DO NOT let Canelo close the gap on that ring caus their will be a price to pay.

LAME-O

PLEASE tell me how many of your so-called casual fans have dug deep into their pockets to chip in with hospital and rehab bills for all the great warriors of the ilk of Bobby Chacon, Matt Franklin of yesteryear or more recently Iran Barkley, John ‘Beast’ Mugabi, Terry Norris or countless others I can mention who are either suffering for their bravado in the ring or down on their luck and totally forgotten by these so-called casual fans.
Boxing and more-to-the point boxers owe nothing to the so-called casual fan, because at the end of the day they are like the people who like to gawp at the freakshow at a circus. Just there to be a voyeur and nothing else, before moving on with their lives, without a care for the men who spilled blood, sweat and tears in the ring to satisfy their bloodlust.
The likes of a Thunder Gatti, Mickey Ward, Carl Thompson and so many more who probably won’t ever be remembered by the so-called casual fans.
This weekend in the Seth Mitchell vs Johnathon Banks match, the fans were booing after less than a minute! FFS! Let them get in the ring and fight!!! This is boxing…. If they want to see a street fight then go down their local boozer and get one for free!!!
We all enjoy a slugfest, but I would prefer to see one with skills such as GOMEZ vs PINTOR than two idiots just hammering each other, with no regard for defence and the pugilistic dementia that can follow.
The true art of boxing is a cerebral affair, but unfortunately these days there are only a few men who can truly fight at this level – whether your boat is scientific boxing, counterpunching, infighting, pressure-fighting or even as they say in MMA, striking – the quality of boxing as a whole seems to have gone backwards with the introduction of these so-called PPVs for boxers who shouldn’t even be fighting at world level, let alone PPV!!!
When the so-called casual fans start putting into their pockets to help out the boxers who give their all for them in the ring let me know, ‘cause only then do they have the right to boo and demand more from the fighters!

Squared Circle – ” Canelo has 12 legit K.O.s on his record” vs who? I wouldn’t be shocked disappointed maybe if Canelo KOs Floyd but a LHW should KO a WW and a punchers chance is about all he possesses at the moment. I would also expect Floyd to KO any Lightweight or opponent he outweighs by 15- 20lbs.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Wrong! I was one of guys saying the Guerrero didn’t even belong in the same ring with FMJ. I knew that R.G. had ZERO chance of winning, so didn’t even bother to watch it. I didn’t say that Canelo has a higher KO% than Cotto, I said that he has more explosive power.

Cotto has a SLIGHTLY higher ratio, but he only has 5 legit K.O.s on his record — the rest are TKO stoppages. Canelo has 12 legit K.O.s on his record, so I stand by my statement that he has more explosive power. Plus Canelo’s KO ratio is very misleading because he knocks guys down all the time, but doesn’t always finish. You’re the clown here, Happyboy. And you’re gonna be shocked the first time Canelo puts him on the canvas.

BTW… Broner got beat last night and most guys who really know how to score a fight are saying the same thing. PM got ROBBED!

Canelo will loose big against Mayweather cause his never met anyone like Floyd but Floyd has faced much better boxers than Canelo. Floyd has sparred with strong skilled LHW and the weight will not matter cause skills pays the bills gentleman. So come Sept expect another disappointment as you witness another Mayweather clinic, I expect you to have your usual excuses and bs after the fight so please don’t disappoint. LMFAO!!!!

It is expected for Hidalgo, Bears, and Squared Circle to hope and support a Canelo win as they always rally behind Floyd’s opponent whenever his fighting. They will come up with a whole lot stupid reasons to support their hopeless wishes. Canelo is a SMW who fights WW and JWW yet his KO ratio is below that of Miguel Cotto but Squared Circle thinks his more explosive, stats don’t lie. According to Bears n Hildago Robert Guerrero whose won a few titles including knocking down and beating Berto is featherfisted, garbage, flawed and over rated but Paulie Malignaggi whose lost every big fight including against Broner and has only 7 KOs to his name is a warrior, stupid ass haters. You guys are clowns and thats a fact. You have hopeless wishes cause you have no facts to back you up.

Correction: “…. instead of 1-2 YEARS from now.”

Posted June 24, 2013 12:11 am

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

FMJ is very wise to fight Canelo now instead of 1-2 from now. At just 22, Canelo has not yet reached his physical prime. Scientists say that most men don’t reach their peak physical strength until 28-30-years-old. Everyone is different, of course, but it could be that Canelo has not yet developed his “man strength.” (Strength in boxing referring to punching power.)

I’m with BEARS in that I sincerely believe there’s a good chance Canelo will pull off the upset. Remember: If Canelo is able to land the same type of shots on FMJ that Cotto did… FMJ is gonna take a seat on the canvas at least once — if not worse. I believe that Canelo has more explosive power than Cotto, and that both his speed, power, combinations and defense are being underrated by many on ESB. Real talk.

Styles make fights interesting. Alvarez is young, strong, and hungry to be the best. Hopefully he’s not letting delahoya hype him up for his own reasons. But floyds motivation to keep him looking young is money, the big 44 and 0,and not getting embarrassed. I like both fighters, but I have to go with Floyd because he has faced way more of an adversity of fighters than Alvarez. Also, no one that has fought Floyd can explain his defense to Alvarez if they tried. It may look easy to break until you get in the ring with him. I have to give Floyd the speed, stamina, defense, patience, and smarts. I give Alvarez the power, youth, patience, and confidence. I don’t know to much about his chin. It will be a great fight. I wish we all could watch this one together. Peace!

Chubby – Yes, catch-weights are stupid, but Canelo will be entering the ring as LHW and FM will be around 150 lbs. If you want to disrespect someone, go after Alvarez who is a SMW fighting at SWW. He’s no different from Williams, Chavez jr, and Margo who both fought at weights below their natural class because they were so limited. That was proven when they went up to higher classes and got whipped. 152 v 154 is nothing compared to 170 plus v 150 max.

Guerrero was a mandatory defense, FM had to fight him. As for this fight, it will be exciting, but FM has too much experience for Alvarez and it will show midway through the bout. Alvarez only has a shot of a KO, but I don’t see it happening. I truly hope FM doesn’t ruin his career like he did RH. I like Canelo and think he has the potential to be around a while, but I don’t know how effective he will be at 160 or higher. at some point he is going to have to move up to a more natural weight.

And were talkn featherfit at 120 and 130 let alone 147. If floydwouldve looked vulnerable against gueerero, canelo would slay him. He wouldn’t even be fighting canelo. It would basically mean floyds done if a guy like gueerero would make him look vulnerable. Why is this fight for the 154 lb world title being fought at 152 lbs ? If Floyd really wants to hold a title at 154, then he needs to fight at 154. I respected Floyd up to this point but giving the fact that he is dictating the circumstances for bogus weights, I no longer respect him or the so called 154 lb title.
