Neil (Pomy) – You say Price ‘can’ win, but “will’ he? If he hasn’t learned not to drop his left glove down to his knee when he throws a right uppercut at a decent counter puncher – he’s going to once again be toast in this rematch.

Styles make fights and Chris’ style is all wrong for Mitchell. Mitchell is too sluggish to have a successful outing with a fast, powerful opponent. Banks can’t hardly punch himself out of a wet bag and not only crushed Seth the first time out, staggered him with about anything he threw in the rematch. Mitchell is a great athlete, but his future looks like that of most football players who try to make the transition to the sweet science…

While I’m here: How does anyone feel price would get on with Chisora?

David price needs to get a motor on here, he’s 29 now & realistically has about 5 years left to make a mark, so has to be more active. If he beats Thompson or not his #1 ambition must be to win the Lonsdale belt out-right(He’s only 1 notch away) Fights outside of Liverpool must also be a priority. He needs the experience & exposure that brings. Give it a few years & the likes of Hughie Fury & Joseph Parker will be making all the noise!

Even Arreola would take Mitchell out in two at this point in both of their careers…

If what we saw Saturday night is the new-and-improved Seth Mitchell, then I’ll take the old Seth Mitchell anyday. Hey, at least THAT Seth Mitchell was exciting; this Seth Mitchell is BORING, so afraid of getting hit that he barely commits to jabs even! And don’t get me started on the inexplicable tank job of Johnathan Banks. If he was gassed after the third round then it is time for him to QUIT and devote himself to training other fighters.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Even if Davey Price gets by 42-year-old Thompson this time… he’s still gonna get wrecked when he steps up to fight the big dogs. Thompson is the ONLY name on his weak resume that most boxing fans have even heard of — and he got knocked out in round 2.

Both Haye and Fury would smash Price, and so would Jennings. Wilder and Mitchell (who totally sucks) might even beat Davey Boy. K-Bros, Pulev and even Povetkin would make short-work of Davey Boy Price. His British Commonwealth title is nothing but a worthless trinket that neither Haye or Fury care anything about. Real talk.

By the way, my money if on David Price to get his revenge against Thompson and then to KO Seth Mitchell, another weak-chinned fighter. After that it is anyone’s guess how far David Price’s power will carry him before the lights go out.

David Price has a dodgy chin that win or lose against Thompson in the rematch will prove his downfall again and again, just about any time he gets clipped on the jaw. David Price can knock out just about anyone; but just about anyone can knock out David Price. Price is a frightening beast of a puncher; but he’s a fragile British puncher akin to yesteryears’ Bombardier Billy Wells or Frank Bruno. Frank Bruno didn’t have the best of chins, but I think David Price’s is worse, similar to that of Billy Wells. Just my opinion.

Mitchell looks like he has regressed skill-wise. Banks staggered him at will, then quit punching the rest of the fight. Poor performance by both fighters…

TARK

Michell made mistakes in the Banks rematch — but he was a much better fighter… He stayed back in his stance a lot better without leaning in off his left foot as much, and he didn’t reach in with his punches as much… avioding opening himself to a massive counter..

Mitchell attacked more intelligently but he suffered significant punches when he did attack.. For the most part he stayed back and threw fast jabs and right hands from range, many of which scored.. Banks couldn’t match him.. Banks couldn’t outbox Mitchell from range, and how do you attack a man who outweighes you by 30 pounds???

An old precept in Boxing is: “Win the fight you’re in at all costs… Win ugly if you have to… Look good in the next fight.”

“Lets see if Price can do the same to Thomppson as Mitchel did to Banks.”

Mitchell did nothing to Banks. Banks threw the damn fight. Mitchell sucks.

It’s not question of if he beats Thompson in the rematch… If he does win where does he go? … Thompson is one of those guys, like Harrison, who will fight anybody, anywhere, at any time … A lot of contenders don’t want face a big puncher who stands 6’8″ and goes 250.

Let’s hope he can do what Mitchell did. In this case I think Thompson has his number and if they fought ten times Thompson would win all ten. Doesn’t mean that Price can’t beat fighters that Thompson lost to–it’s just rock, paper, scissors.

Neil (Pomy)

I think Price should win ….

Dante Cantabile

The *Scouser* [lol] got exposed in the first fight vs Thompson and will suffer a career ending loss in the 2nd.

if Price was heavier he might not go down so easy,I wonder if he took Thomsons advice and packed on some lb’s.

Posted June 24, 2013 10:56 am

KOrnerman

if he went down that easy last time, the same thing could easily happen again.

Got to admit Derek Mitchell banks II fight was boring. Both guys are trying to avenge knockouts. If Thompson doesn’t avenge the win even in a boring fight fashion like Mitchel beat Banks he will be going back to palookaville

The world needs big punching heavyweights, so I hope Price does better this time, but it is troubling that he was laid out by one shot. Thompson’s a big strong man, but was never a one punch knockout artist. He usually wears men down or simply outworks them.

Derek

“Lets see if Price can do the same to Thomppson as Mitchel did to Banks.” lol Wolf, if that’s the case then remind me to NOT watch that fight! But I’m afraid you’re right, Price could be tentative and go all-defense and Thompson likes his new fat weight so he can’t push the pace.

Derek

“Thompson hit him on the neck.” ok so maybe instead of China chin he has Nepal neck

Posted June 24, 2013 9:10 am

Wolf

Price loss to Thompson was not necessarily do to a china chin considering Thompson hit him on the neck.

Posted June 24, 2013 8:43 am

Wolf

Tony Thompson is to David Price what Banks is to Mitchell. Lets see if Price can do the same to Thomppson as Mitchel did to Banks.

Derek

Ah, so he’s saying his loss was a 1 in 2000 fluke. That’s a good attitude. It wasn’t the fact that somehow you were “complacent” when in the ring against by far your best opponent yet? Or the possibility that you have a china chin that was revealed? Price is going to get KOed again soon if he really believes his current line of thought. Maybe not against Thompson in the rematch but against anyone else he fights who is actually good. How can someone get “complacent” when they should be at their hungriest on the way up?
