KI have you seen Ustinov box???……..he is terrible and much worse than Valuev ever was.
Tua- Ustinov will show us a great dealPosted June 28, 2013 12:43 am
Don’t dissallusion yourselves with Stiverne either! The dude was getting schooled by 40 year old Ray Austin until he laid a lucky punch! Beating a punch drunk Areolla doesn’t get you a blue ribbon!Posted June 27, 2013 11:08 pm
Nice pic of V-Klit. What a mug!Posted June 27, 2013 4:00 pm
Vitali was a helluva champion until the injuries started piling up. I remember him really steam rolling guys before his hands began giving him problems. Those hand injuries were serious enough that he had to be hospitalized for treatment after a number of fights. He once said in an interview that his fingers would swell up to the size of multi-colored sausages shortly after a fight and were extremely painful.Posted June 27, 2013 3:57 pm
Only ridiculous if Tua loses to Ustinov.
Watch this spacePosted June 27, 2013 3:04 am
Cut the rhetoric now, Get Vitali in there with Stiverne! Tua is a ridiculous gesture!Posted June 27, 2013 1:19 am
“Potential” viewership might be 200 million. But if it is Pay-per-view in most places then it will not get near that figure.
Still – yes – there is worldwide interest.Posted June 26, 2013 8:33 pm
Fight Scribe the “rest” comment was due to Tua’s arm injury that he cited for the Barrett loss. I know very well that Tua’s not been active.Posted June 26, 2013 8:10 pm
aparently tua vs ustinov is going to attract 200,000,000 viewers worldwide. this certainly contradicts what people actually write about tua been past it and to old. people want to see him fight. simple as that.Posted June 26, 2013 5:55 pm
Great comment, HeartyPosted June 26, 2013 5:15 pm
Tua is old. Why do they keep dragging out these old war horses to stumble around and take punishment?. You wouldn’t do that to your grandpa.Posted June 26, 2013 4:22 pm
Hitmachine. No. Vitalis next fight will be vs Stiverne, he is his Mandatory.Posted June 26, 2013 2:09 pm
It’s ridiculous if next opponent for Vitali is Tua. Tua’s best before day was over ten years ago.. Vitali has not taken any good opponent after Adamek and even Adamek is cruiser. Vitali doesn’t want take any serious boxer anymore and he should retire.Posted June 26, 2013 1:14 pm
@Fight Aficianado if Tua is ‘rested’ you say? Ahhh dude have you seen his fight resume in the last decade? He has had plenty of time to rest. Sheesh…what an absurd statement.Posted June 26, 2013 7:41 am
We already found that out… In 2 fights with Monte Barrett.Posted June 26, 2013 7:32 am
When Tua faces Ustinov we will find out what Tua has left
Watch and seePosted June 26, 2013 7:15 am
Vitаli will k0 Pulеv in
YES…. He lost to Monte Barrett.Posted June 26, 2013 6:31 am
Tua KO’d Moorer, Ruiz, Rahman, Oquendo, etc, etc.
Yes – he lost to Lennox Lewis
So did a lot of peoplePosted June 26, 2013 5:43 am
Just give up, Ivan. Tua is done. He never did jack at HW. He won’t start now.Posted June 26, 2013 5:35 am
You guys have not seen enough of Tua
He still has the power and when fit he is a different manPosted June 26, 2013 3:48 am
only David Tua might knock the klitschko brothers out….in the actual panorama of the division.Posted June 26, 2013 3:42 am
Tua will lose to Ustinov. Tua is one dimensional, he is an inside slugger. He is slow, lacks great head movement and his fitness is not what is once was. He will find if very difficult to get inside and will get squashed and smothered by the 300 pound 6’8 Russian when he finally gets inside. We will get worn down and gasses and then get hurt. Ustinov will winPosted June 26, 2013 3:39 am
Yes Vitali would like to fight Tua but will never get in the ring with anyone like Ustinov.Posted June 26, 2013 3:36 am
Tua this time is fit and motivated again.
Makes a big difference.Posted June 26, 2013 3:13 am
Tua’s career was derailed by promotional issues that kept him out for a long time more than lack of drive.
I think he is one of the best fighters not to have held a heavyweight strap, and he has beaten the $h1t out of several fighters who have held a strap at one point or another, as well as being involved in the record fight at heavy for punches thrownPosted June 26, 2013 2:00 am
Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)
WTF? The last time I saw Tua he got beat by Ole Two Gunz Barrett. That must have been a few years ago already. What is he coming out of retirement now?
I thought for sure Tua would hang ‘em up shortly afterwards. Some of these guys– especially HWs — just don’t know when to quit. He’ll look like a fat child with t-rex arms in the ring next to that Giant. And will more than likely get whooped like one as well. I’m really hoping that this is gonna be Tua’s last rodeo.Posted June 26, 2013 1:13 am
if tua wins he would be better off chasing povetkins wba title.Posted June 26, 2013 12:13 am
pulev was much smaller than ustinov and he won. tuas height wont be a facter in this fight. if tuas fit he could win this.Posted June 26, 2013 12:11 am
I think pulov is the next he champPosted June 25, 2013 11:56 pm
Jonn E. JaGozza
Tua has 2 things going against him age and size he’s small and old, quite simple as that Retire and remember the great times you had and the great times you gave us, the fans. I assume money problems have brought you out of retirement, very sad indeed .. PEACEPosted June 25, 2013 7:51 pm
Last we saw Tua he was horrible. If he’s rested, fit and hungry then maybe he’ll win. If not he’ll get smacked around by Ustinov, who is limited but tough. Neither guy deserves a shot at Vitali.Posted June 25, 2013 5:43 pm
If Tua can get a left hook on the same spot where Pulev blasted Ustinov TFO, he can win… I seriously doubt if he can do that… Tua has to be getting desperate… It has to be dawning on him that he wasted his entire career … when he probably could have made millions with a little more drive, ambition, and serious hard work.Posted June 25, 2013 5:43 pm
No – Tua will surprise in this fight
He is fit and motivated
And hopefully then he can chase a title fightPosted June 25, 2013 5:12 pm
Tua is just too small n too old to fight todays hwPosted June 25, 2013 4:11 pm
“Why Vitali ran for parlament in Ukraine???”
I also hope Vitali doesn’t carry on too long, but like people have said, it’s hard to step down from being HW champ. Age and injuries will defeat him before the guys out there.Posted June 25, 2013 2:55 pm
Looking at this in the best possible light. Just say Tua does get in shape, produce some form and find a big left hook to KO 6’8″ Ustinov. There could be some intrigue in a Vitali-Tua bout.
If you eventually become prime minister of UkrainePosted June 25, 2013 1:45 pm
If you’re a Heavyweight Champion, even if you’re in your 40’s, the title is worth millions of dollars every year… It’s very tough to give that up no matter how old you are.
Look at George Foreman’s challengers after he KO’d “accidental champion” Michael Moorer… The challengers Foreman faced were all 3rd rate heavyweights except Shannon Briggs.. He couldn’t KO any challengers so they kept getting worse. Briggs was KO’d easily, in 2 rounds, with one punch, by Darrol Wilson.. A couple fights later Wilson was KO’d in one by David Tua. That took Wilson and Tua off the short list of challengers for Foreman … and put Briggs on the list. Sometimes you make a mistake in evaluating challengers.
Let’s face it… The title was worth big endorement money for Foreman. Every round through the talk show circuit as Heavyweight Champion George’s endorement income doubled. The K bros are super big in Europe where they’ve drawn the biggest gates in European Boxing history. You try to hold on to that — even if you’re 40-something.
What I can’t understand is, why Vitali ran for parlament in Ukraine??? That takes him away from a lot of money making gigs in Europe. Is there big money in the Ukrainian Parlament? He must be as interested in political reform as he says. I suppose there’s a lot of prestige if you eventually become prime of Ukraine, and can meet with world leaders as the only 6’8″ X 250lb former Heavyweight Champion in the room.Posted June 25, 2013 1:42 pm
I agree v. Klitschko looks and fights like a fighter well past his prime. He keeps fighting and will get beat up very soon.Posted June 25, 2013 1:26 pm
We all know nobody can beat a prime, focused in shape w. Klitschko. Sure he could get caught with a lucky punch but thats the only way klitschko gets beat for at least anotherv2 years.Posted June 25, 2013 1:24 pm
Mack I think you are correct ,for the first time vitally looked really old and slow to me in his last fight against charr, he might still beat them all because of his skills and experience but he really really slowed down recently and I think he should retirePosted June 25, 2013 1:09 pm
I can’t see how either of these men moves to the head of the line for a title shot. I’m afraid that Vitali is damaged goods with bad hands and various back and shoulder injuries. He doesn’t blow opponents away like he used to. He has been talking retirement for a couple of years now, so why not go out on top? He can’t need the money.Posted June 25, 2013 12:42 pm
Pulev beat Wlad? Dont make me laugh!! Wlad will smash Pulev’s face just like every other challenger! Pulev is neither big, strong, fast or technical enough to do anything other than apologise to Wlad for using his face for Wlad’s punches. He may be beating the C-list ‘stars’, but Wlad is truly on another level to anything Pulev has faced.Posted June 25, 2013 12:18 pm
Yes, Stiverne is his Mandatory.Posted June 25, 2013 10:58 am
vitali needs to step up. haye, pulev and if he is confused, he should fight wlad.Posted June 25, 2013 10:54 am
“Vitali should be stripped of his title or retire since he hasn’t fought since september last year and there’s still no fight on the horizon.” I believe you are correct Stefano because I also believe WBC rules state that a champ must defend his title at least once every nine months.Posted June 25, 2013 10:21 am
I am a huge fan of vitaly but I agre with some who say he should either retire or fight someone like hayePosted June 25, 2013 10:19 am
what happened to that stiverne?Posted June 25, 2013 10:18 am
Tua can win this
And go looking for a Klitschko after!Posted June 25, 2013 8:57 am
Pulеv is thе mаn PULЕV-wLАDimir/2014 МONSТЕR fightPosted June 25, 2013 7:19 am
Vitali should be stripped of his title or retire since he hasn’t fought since september last year and there’s still no fight on the horizon. Isn’t Stiverne his mandatory now?Posted June 25, 2013 6:22 am
Pulev beats Wlad only in your wet dreams Tag.Posted June 25, 2013 6:13 am
could be real fun if Tua comes in in shapePosted June 25, 2013 4:52 am
Pulеv dеfеаd Ustiov аnd titlе shot whаt? Pulеv will bеаt Wlаd аnd Vitаli… now Pulеv-jеnings!Posted June 25, 2013 4:26 am
