Price has a fair chance to reverse the result—more due to Thompson’s age and general physical condition—rather Price being ready for a veteran of TT’s level of craft and experience. He’s not. Price doesn’t have the appropriate number of rounds — BUT this is a fight that could get him 12 badly needed rounds of experience. The way Mitchell fought Bonds in their rematch is the way Price should fight Thompson. TT has a lot of craft and skill, so you need a judicious approach. David could run away with a decisive decision if he concentrates on boxing.

Relax… work on footwork… work on the jab… vary the jab… don’t put strength on the jab… use your height and reach… defend as alertly as possible… use the ring space… try combinations… try right leads… make Thompson lead a lot… completely ignore the crowd… don’t ever let TT wheel right, climb into your left shoulder, and whip you with right hooks…

This is an extremely important fight… Scoring a quick KO isn’t the objective.

I completely disagree with this writer that Price has to win within 6 rounds.. He tried for a quick KO last time and that was a disaster.. Instead of defending at an appropriate moment, he was loading to throw. Offense is good — defense is better. Defense wins you fights. If you’re properly trained so your edurance is terrific — if you can go 1 round, you can go 12 just as easy. It’s a matter of mastery and knowing what you’re doing. Sooner or later you’re going to need to go 12 anyway — and the more times you do it the better.

I be shocked if Maloney said he wasnt confident..lol.Im thinking a Thompson win here again..hope Im wrong.Hope Maloney learned a lesson in that a guy turns pro at 26-27 fights sub-par guys untill 29,gets very few rds. under his belt, then expect stuff like this to happen.Thats why I like what Hugie Fury is doing so far, getting that pro learning at a young age, moving a kid smart.
