TARK

Your spirit is going to be down if you know you’re being poorly matched, trained, and managed.

Thanks Bluesman!

@ KNOWN: You make an interesting point my friend, which could very well be true!

Lewis was a great fighter, but training another fighter is a different matter. Jack Dempsey, Joe Frazier, Archie Moore and others all had proteges they tried to mold into champions. You can’t simply transfer your experience, instincts, spirit and skills to another human being. Every fighter has different strengths and weaknesses. You cannot easily fix a stamina problem. It is mental as well as physical, temperament and technique. I’m sure Price worked as hard as he could in preparation, but the pressure and tension were too much. This will be fixed, if at all, by experience, a tall order on the wrong side of 30. There is no short cut to it.

I disagree with people claiming Price has no stamina, no heart and no defense. What I think the main problem with Price is his spirit. He needs to do some work spiritually. Once/if he finds his spirit, I think he can do okay

GTFOH if Price could not get himself ready for this SUPER important bout ( in the context of his career) then he is simply a HYPE JOB…. He knew that ANOTHER loss to an OLD, FLACCID Thompson would be a death knell for his reputation and he let himself get taken AGAIN… Price is NOT 22 years old, truth is that he has been EXPOSED… They can match him with LAMES and he can rack up some wins but this guy is not even a good fight for a very beatable fighter like Arreola. So where does he go from here? The myth that he is an heir apparent for the Klits has been SHATTERED…. Let the guy take his beatings till he opts to quit or begins fighting for money only….

KK KEEP WATCHING YOUR MODERN HEAVYWEIGHTS LIKE YOU THERE ALL WANKERS

Browne vs Towers should be an interesting matchup

Need to go back to the basics mentally, physically and boxing wise. Work on his fitness and strength. Work on his mental composure. Improve his jab and footwork. Improve his distance combos, develop some type of inside game and improve defensively. Can he do it. Hmmmmmmm fight and 3 or 4 bums in the next 12 months going several rounds with them. Fight 2 or 3 decent guys after that and he could be back and improved. He has been set back a good 2 years. Sad but true.

This dudes just not all that he’s what 31 or so getting stopped back to back saying he can’t go 5 with 41 year old Tony Thompson?? Dudes been exposed but he should keep fighting just another Klit wannabe who could not cut it (Helenius) these HW’s are truly dreadful…

KOrnerman

let’s be honest chaps, if he cant beat an ageing also-ran, then he’s never going to be the best, I even thin k Fury beats him now,at least he can do more than 3 rounds and not be gassed.

huckster

price is a born quarterback. he got an arm.

Posted July 8, 2013 3:34 am

TARK

Price needs a defense… You don’t have one if you’ve fought like 40 rounds.

Posted July 8, 2013 1:21 am

U can fix price’s stamina, but his heart n chin still needs work!

“Or maybe a pro football helmet with a full Lineman’s facemask…LOL.” With lots of padding. :)

Posted July 8, 2013 12:04 am

BLUESMAN

@ HH London: I’m sorry my friend but I just can’t agree with you. Price’s only “future” will be getting beaten up, kind of like Enzo Maccarrenelli. Maybe the two could fight to see who got beat up first!

Posted July 7, 2013 10:00 pm

BLUESMAN

Hidalgo’s got the beat. While we’re at it, Price should also hold a sign in front of him saying FRAGILE.

Beats a bum now wants a Klit….

if he had more stamina, he could take more ass-whuppins, more often … is that the Plan, Lennox ?

LOL… that was funny Hidalgo. The man in the Iron Mask.
Or maybe a pro football helmet with a full Lineman’s facemask…LOL.

“We just need to fix David Price’s stamina issue.” You might get him an iron mask as well.

“but they’ve learned to pace themselves by fighting slowly, not exhausting themselves by throwing nonstop punches, and not running around the ring. ” Did the author ever watch a Klitschko fight? Show me a heavyweight who throws more than Vitali.

price needs a helmet.

BRUCE

ALL THESE HEAVYWEIGHTS TODAY HAVE STAMINA PROBLEMS UNLIKE LOUIS ALI MARCIANO WHO ALL DID REAL ROADWORK

Posted July 7, 2013 2:25 pm

Lenin

Yes, just his stamina. And his defense. And his fighting spirit/mentality.. And his jab. And his footwork. Actually, we just need to turn him into a good boxer. Easy. Right?

Posted July 7, 2013 2:22 pm

tachyon

I’m surprised he would have stamina problems to begin with I mean what type of training and sparring is he doing? Jog 1 mile spar 1 round does not cut it in the pros.

Posted July 7, 2013 2:21 pm

HHLondon

Conditioning and Jab and he still has a future.

To say a 17 fight novice is finished after two stupid defeats is unrealistic.

A fighter with his advantages should be coasting through the rounds letting his jab do most of the work and damage.

Not got much stamina, not got a good chin, lacking co-ordination, hurt by body shots, doesn’t sound too promising for David Price at top level. Shows you that Wlad is pretty damn decent really, he took care of Tony Thompson twice. British fight fans/ media/ idiots jumped on the Price hype bandwagon too quickly, as they usually do…

Posted July 7, 2013 1:57 pm

rod

Losing to Thompson twice really shows how good the brothers are. Wlad is clearly way more advanced than Tony and Tony has destroyed price twice. Price would beat the vast majority of guys out there including fury. Wlad and Vitali are athletic freaks of nature who have dedicated their whole lives to mastering the art of boxing. I would have loved to have seen a fast powerful skilled tall heavy challenge them and had hopes for price but no. He is not even a contender a this stage.

brick city

Price has no heart, thats the problem. Also imo he may need an American trainer to become a better heavyweight.

K2 Fan

Wladimir did NOT punch himself out against Sanders , because Sanders caught him with one of the best lefts in the business . Having said that , Wlad NEVER got caught with anything close to that again , and went on to become one of the most dominating champions of all time , unlike a certain ” champion “,
who avoided ( read ; ducked ) Sanders precisely BECAUSE he was a southpaw !
In fact that ” champion ” NEVER fought ANY southpaw . I don’t know what
Lenny can teach price about stamina , but I’m certain he can teach him a thing or two about RUNNING !

kk

Yeah…right…Price needs advice from a coward….

Posted July 7, 2013 12:35 pm

dwc

Can stamina really be fixed…isnt it abit like a bad chin.Price always looks in very good shape,no body fat, well toned.Maybe its his mind, being to stressed leading to stamina issues. At any rate he needs to learn to jab aswell,at his size he should be standing in the middle of the ring blowing guys out with a power jab like V.K. Price needs alot of work overall and at his age I cant see anything positive coming about, its alot more then just stamina from what I seen.

boxingnut76

Wladimir did not punch himself out agains Sanders.. he got caught by a monster puncher.. it happens. ( lews vs mccall 1 to compare)

Posted July 7, 2013 12:30 pm

qwert

Did poor Wladimir also punch himself out against Sanders?

Posted July 7, 2013 12:27 pm

Tyson X

Vitali never had any stamina problem – he has always had one of the highest output in HW – normally he punches as much as any MW boxer.
