Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

“You have to live somewhere for a long while, experience their way of life, culture, various attitudes, customs, immerse yourself in it…only then do you begin to understand any foreign land.”

Which is precisely why you have a very limited understanding of our super-complex American culture. It is worlds deeper than what you see in Hollywood movies and hear in American music. And you also have limited understand of all the 20-some counties you claim to have visited. I have actually taken the time to read the history of both the UK and Ireland — unlike most Americans. And I have a very keen understanding of all the socio-political “religious” undertones and the reasons behind conflict/static that have been going on and off for hundreds of years.

But since you like to you think of yourself as the ultimate road-scholar and expert on these matters, please begin preaching your “master teachings” to the average Joes on ESB who can actually benefit from what you have to say. I’m not the one. Because like it or not, I am in the 98th percentile of the most intelligent and formally educated people on ESB.

Now once again… I don’t want to discuss these silly matters any further with you belligerent Brits. I want to focus on the Sweet Science from here on out. I know you always have to have the last word, like a typical know-it-all, but please respect my wishes.

Square Circle – You obviously dont know what its all about. Ive visited 26 nations, and i’d never pretend to know what they are all about, their histories, yes, i have a degree in history, but the cultures, attitudes, subtelties etc, no way. You have to live somewhere for a long while, experience their way of life, culture, various attitudes, customs, immerse yourself in it…only then do you begin to understand any foreign land.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

I’m done taking to you Brits about your little island. Just know that you haven’t taught me anything I didn’t already know because I’ve already been to the UK/Ireland and know what it’s all about.

My sister used to live in England and I went and visited her a few different times. Also went and saw the sites in Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well. Overall, it’s a not complex place compared to the U.S., trust me. If you’ve spent any time in our major cities, you would know that.

I will only be talking boxing with you folks from here on out, cause this has been big waste of my time and energy. Nuff said.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

JoanneBugner: Not at all impressed with that very simple and predictable answer.

Clearly, I wasn’t talking about white British people for the most. You’re national terminology is still quite primitive regarding these racial/cultural matters, and someday it will probably evolve as the UK becomes inhabited with more immigrants from South Asia, Middle East, Africa, Caribbean, etc.

What you people call an Asian man living in Dublin or Belfast? An Irishmen?

My point exactly… LOL!

Price would still knock Tyson Fury out, those punches he caught Thompson with would definitely finish fury.

Posted July 8, 2013 5:20 pm

Obe

Whilst I dont think he is ready for Price.. yet, Hughie Fury looks very good in the ring for a 18 year old and obviously has twice the talent of his cousin

Posted July 8, 2013 3:40 pm

dwc

Dont drag Hugie Fury into a 3 ring circus. It kills fighters, like Mike Tyson when he signed with King and had all his street buddies with him working the corner.Thats when Mike Tyson when on the circus tour and it killed him as a dedicated fighter. This kid has a good background and could do big things, but let him grow and learn and fight, without the circus acts.

I think Tyson Fury is talking like a bragging young teenager, he’s trying to say that Hughie Fury will be ready for Tony Thompson by September, 2 months, come on Tyson, wake up and own up, Hughie has got a lot of talent, no doubt, he was a world juniior amateur champion as far as I’m told, so he does have something, meanwhile, Tyson, be honest for a couple of years now, you wanted no part of Price, mainly because of the hype that was around Price and his punching power, now a former top class heavyweight bursts that bubble, you want to insult him, no not insult him but ridicule him, because he has lost. Tyson forget all the talking, why don’t you fight Thompson next, I’m positive he will come to England and fight you, if you don’t make him some stupid financial offer so that the fight won’t take place. As far as Hughie goes, leave him alone, let him keep fighting journymen heavyweights for a couple of years, this will give him time to see many different styles of fighter and also give his body time to mature. I am not saying Tyson Fury is a bum, as some people call him, but I do think he is getting a little boring with the stupid commentss time and again.

BRUCE

PRICE SHOULD FOLLOW HAYE ON BIG BROTHER ITS ALL THERE FIT FOR BOTH WANKERS

Posted July 8, 2013 11:00 am

As for Hugh Fury, he is a very good prospect, must be the best teen Heavy out there right now. He shows good power for a young kid, has good skills and size, his stamina seems fine. However, he is not ready for Price, any more than Price was ready for Thompson after only 15 fights. First fight seemed to be Price’s chin, that held up this time, but his stamina didnt. Thats what happens when you blow away 15 fighters and never go beyond 4 rounds, you are not conditioned to do it, have no experience of it etc. The same would happen to Wilder Vs Thompson.

Posted July 8, 2013 10:57 am

Seany87

Wow, too much politics BS and lecturing here. Anyway, Hughie Fury, just go about your trade. Tyson should do the same!

Posted July 8, 2013 9:48 am

What is the difference between Fury, Calzaghe, Froch (part Polish), Bruno, Hamed, Khan, Benn, Eubank, McGuigan (dual citizen from SOUTHERN Ireland) being British, and Larry Holmes, Joe Frazier, Ali, Foreman, Marciano, Carbajal, Malignaggi, Basilio, Zale, Giardello, Pep etc being American? Answer must be none.

Posted July 8, 2013 9:04 am

AssyrianGod

ps; I’m not talking down to you, I am a British person of mixed heritage myself; Welsh, English, Irish, Assyrian and Dane/Viking. I think you misread the ethnic attitudes in the UK. You seem to think that English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Cornish people, and also all the migrant communities in the UK hate each other and have no sense of nationhood, which is generally wrong.

Posted July 8, 2013 8:49 am

AssyrianGod

SQUare Circle- lol, Fury is a Brit, accept it, he is as much a Brit as Rocky Marciano was American! PS; READ what I said, I mentioned Khan, Hamed, Bruno etc…Also, try going to Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield, Bradford, Manchester, Derby, Leicester, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff etc, you will see plenty of diversity..of course it wont be as diverse as the USA, why would it be? The USA has only existed for a couple of centuries, and most of its inhabitants are recent immigrants from elsewhere..I have more Irish ancestry than English, however I consider myself a Brit. Huge numbers of British have some Irish stock somewhere, that never makes them reject being British.

talbodin – “Thompson cleans out every glass jawed british hw with ease” really. I would have Haye to take Thompson out quick time

Hughie needs to keep going just as he is, learning the game, keep his head down, don’t be getting involved in trash talk. Some real talk from Squared Circle too. Good work. The Furys and Macklin can be British, and still take pride in their Irish background and heritage. The people from the past fought to be free and live with dignity.

Posted July 8, 2013 6:01 am

AssyrianGod

AT Square Circle – Dont be ridiculous! British fighters are a mix of English, Irish, Welsh, Scots etc, they are all British. BTW Fury does not have dual nationality, but because he has some Irish heritage, he is legible to fight for Irish titles. You need to accept that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland encompasses England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and fighters from all of those constituents are British, as indeed are British people from migrant communities; ie Amir Khan, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn, Naseem Hamed etc etc….by your bizzarre logic, the only AMERICAN heavyweight of recent years is Joe Hipp, a NATIVE American; Ali was African and Irish, Marciano, Basilio & Malignaggi = Italians, Jack Sharkey was a Lithuanian, Tony Zale a Russian, Joey Maxim was Israeli etc etc

Posted July 8, 2013 5:55 am

HollowOriginal

Hughie is actually a much better boxer than Tyson. A little green at the moment, but in 2 or 3 years time I expect Hughie will be challenging for titles whilst Tyson will be on some Audley Harrison style comeback… I don’t expect T. Fury will survive longer than 6 rounds with Haye and it will be down hill from there on out.

If Price could actually accept he has a weak chin and stamina issues and adjust accordingly, he still has a future in the division. Needs to go back to square 1 and utilise his advantages, his jab/reach and his size/strength. Will need about 3 or 4 easier but durable opponents to adapt his style, Lennox Lewis should be the perfect tutor.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

AnonyMouse: Of course I’m fully aware that they’re British by nationality, retard. Tyson actually has dual citizenship in IRL and has represented both countries in international competition since he was an amateur. He is also a cousin of MW Andy Lee from IRL, who’s Kronk and lived with Manny Steward in his own house before he died.

But you don’t see the Fury’s or Macklin (another Brit) wearing the Union Jack all over their trunks like every almost every other British fighter — as if it’s some unwritten law. Like Macklin, the Fury’s are much more likely to sport the green and gold/orange or some neutral colors. Now that should really give you a reason to HATE them even more. But they really don’t give a flyin’ F… LOL.

Hughie fury is a clown, just like Tyson. that being said, price wanted nothing to do with continuing after the standing eight. heartless hype job.

Posted July 8, 2013 2:37 am

TARK

Ignore Hugie Fury… Ignore everything Tyson Fury says… he just wants to hear his name on people’s lips and that’s why he comes up with these gems.

Price needs skills, rounds, training, defense… I would match him with Christian Hammer… Tor Hamer… Travis Walker… Travis Kauffman… Andrie Fedosov… Fres Oquendo… etc..

You get better if you fight appropriate opponents, get a lot of rounds in, and don’t get beaten to trash by fighting guys who are 2-time mandatory title challengers — who just happen to be tall southpaw — when you have very limited number of fights and no rounds.

even though price was ko twice by a journey, he is still too much for youngblood right now. Give hughie a few years the kid could be a real threat at hw

Posted July 8, 2013 12:32 am

TARK

This “Hughie” s is bogus…

You pretty much have ignore about everything Tyson Fury says … because it’s all b to get him publicity… As long as he sees his name in print and people are talking about Tyson Fury he’s happier than a pig in s.

Price needs to forget about his British titles and get fights that will help educate him… I like guys like Christian Hammer… Tor Hamer… Travis Walker… Travis Kauffman… Andrre Fedosov… and Fres Oquendo.

The main thing is to get him rounds… get hm a stance… get him a defense… get some bounce, strength, and vibrancy in his legs… and get his body tuned up… He needs a nutritionist… He never did look right to me.
