UK- No way on Earth that Povetkin gos the distance with Wlad. And I will certainly remember what you said. Make sure you come eat some crow when Povetkin gets pounded out in 5 or even less. Wlad is angry that he dipped out of fights previously. When Wlad gets mad, it doesn’t make it to the cards (reference: Wlad rips Ray Austin in 2 for all the trash talking with DK).

Neil (Pomy) – Not completely sure of what your comment was all about – (you should seek to upgrade your writing skills) – but I would agree that Cleverly does have the edge in some of the areas you mentioned in the last half of your post. If he uses those advantages well enough in the early going of this match where the Russian is most effective, I can see a fairly clearcut points win, and possibly even a late round victory by way of stoppage for the Welshman.

CLEVERLY ANOTHER HYPED UP MODERN FIGHTER

Good match up but Cleverly wins this for. Kovalev is a knockout artist and looks good but the opponent level has not been hight. Cleverly has a solid chin, is a better boxer, faster, a superior workrate and is more experienced.

Good, good fight. Have to say I’m quite impressed by Cleverly. Solid puncher, good boxer and smart kid with a good mindset. I see him doing very well in boxing and think he’ll be too much for Kovalev. So an excellent W for his resume.

this can be one helluva fight

I wouldn’t actually be surprised mate, it wont do him any favours if it doesn’t happen eh.

This fight will get cancelled, trust me. No way will Cleverly fight a serious opponent. This match has been announced just to keep Nathan in the headlines. But mark my words, Kovalev will NOT be in the ring with him on 17th August. This is all hype.

KOrnerman

mind guys that Cleverly is a massive guy for a light heavyweight, unsurpassed workrate and granite chin, you have to KO him to win, we’l see how hard crusher hits for sure, this will be a great fight.

Posted July 10, 2013 3:51 am

KOrnerman

by the way guys, anyone saying its not a smart move by Clev, that’s wrong, the guy has a maths DEGREE, that makes him pretty smart in my book ,he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing, like I said, if Krusher don’t KO him early he will be bossed for 12, calculated risk with BIG reward, come on Clev show you are the best.

TARK

I said Kovalev knows Povetkin is going out in 5…but needs to be politic about hs pick.. You’ve got to listen better because that’s Kovalev..

I think it will be 7 to 10 rounds because Povetkin may have a friendly referee who lets him pull all kinds of shananagans he’d never get away with anywhere else but Moscow.

UK

TARK Povekin is getting KO’d in 5 rounds or less ? This time you’re totally wrong, Wlad by UD 12. Remember my words !

TARK

Calzaghe is a Welshman and he couldn’t get away with it..

Still UK.

I think Calzaghe, Haye, and Froch all said Hatton was going to beat Floyd because they were British and were expected to say that… They didn’t wany to piss their British fans off…

They all knew Floyd was going to knock Hatton out… Especially Calzaghe who was ripped to shreds for attacking Hatton’s lack of ability to box and evade punches about a year earlier… You learn your lesson once and you go with your countrymen after something like that… Kovalev knows damned well Povekin is getting KO’d in 5 rounds or less … But even so…

Russian reporter, “Who you picking Kovalev???”

Kovalev……, “Well… Now… Ahhh… Hmmm… Wladimir is getting up there in age and has been KO’d 3 times already… Povetkin is an Olympic Gold Medal winner and is undefeated… The fight’s gonna be in Russia… Let’s see…a tough one…. Gotta go with Povetkin.”

I agree with Tark. Kovalev will KO Cleverly because he will be standing right in front on him and doesn’t have the power to keep him at bay. Corectamundo- Kovalev picks Povetkin because he too is Russian. Everyone is aware of the tif between the Ukraine and Russia. Of course he will support his fellow countryman (though he may have no chance to win). This doesn’t make him have a low boxing IQ. It may prove you have a low boxing IQ though.

TARK

Cleverly says…, “I’ll be throwing five, six, seven punches to every one punch he throws.”

No he won’t… Usually Kovalev has to chase his opponents.. Cleverly is a clone of Calzaghe, a light hitter who stays right in front of you and throws his ass off.. Kovalev is 27 times as good as Jeff Lacy. He defends well, attacks behind the jab, and only punches when he has a target he has a good chance of hitting.

It will be exciting all right.. For Kovalev.. He usually has to chase people down before he beats them into submission. If it goes 12 Cleverly will look like he’s been through WWIII.

Fraud

Cleverly is in for the smashing of his life. It will be great to see this big mouthed nobody get KTFO. He is a paper champ and hasn’t fought anyone. His so-called excitement is fear and as the date gets closer he will deadset wet his pants. Let’s see how his low hands, tough guy image fares against a very good boxer/puncher who he is definitely under estimating. This IS his Lacy moment alright, except Cleverly will be in Lacy shoes.

WrongAmundo is that your way of taking credit for a “prediction” should Cleverly win? That’s no prediction.

Kovalev is a monster! He will ko cleverly. Hopefully he wont destroy him too bad. But im afraid it wont be pretty!

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Krusher Kovalev by brutal stoppage. Brave move by Cleverly, but not the smartest.

Posted July 9, 2013 1:26 pm

CORRECTAMUNDO

Kovalev thinks that Povetkin will beat Wlad SO his Boxing IQ may not be very high. Cleverly has a GOOD chance here.

this’l be Clev’s Lacy moment, wait n see.

Cleverly bosses him for 12 rounds.

Gonna be a bad ass fight here. I still can’t believe Cleverly sought this out. Kovalev wins by KO.

I think that Cleverly will be knocked out. Not TKO’d but flat out K.O’d. So talk all you want, Nathan Cleverly, but time’s up August 17th. P.S. Consider too the effect this will have on the remained of your career.

mr gav

An exciting card all round and a chance for cleverly to be tested. I really think the level of competition here will raise cleverlys performance and prove his world champion statace
