Actually I think he’s taking the Mike Tyson fast track–Wimpy Halstead did the same thing in that time period, but I think Huggy is more like Tyson.

Or Tom Dallas!

HUGHIE FURY COULD BE ANOTHER UK BOXING LEGEND LIKE DAVID PRICE.

McPhilbin good opponent for David Price comeback fight!!

Hughie Fury is an 18 year old kid. Give the guy a chance. If he can develop in time, he may be good.

Posted August 3, 2013 1:08 pm

Deontay Wilder

Yummmy, I want McPhilbin next! Should be a real step up for me!

The guy who posts these stories is a Grade A tool, least with most other writers we get some kind of balance and insight, this stuff is embarassing and Collins has serious psychological-emotional imbalances, he looks like hes obsessed with baiting Brits for some weird reason.

Posted August 3, 2013 7:09 am

Mick the Marmalizer

If it wasn’t for the fact that he’s Tyson Fury’s cousin no one would bat an eyelid & he could carry on his apprenticeship without being pestered!

Posted August 3, 2013 6:22 am

Michael Collins

I apologise for my poor article, I just hate the Brits LOL, come on guys everyone knows I’m an idiot, don’t take it so personally!

Leave the kid alone…….He’s still learning his trade…..to raw to judge or criticize …….He is putting in the hours though..

I just do not understand how anybody can get so worked up over such a new boxer.

“Tyson Fury has NO CHANCE of going up in his career, the jury is still out on Hughie although it’s not looking too good at this point.” – Ernie, how you conclude Hughie’s upside doesn’t look good at age 18 is beyond me. Have you seen him fight? Better skills than most young boxers.

Where the eff are my comments going?

A typical Colins article, doesn’t matter how good the fighter is, if he’s English, he has nothing. One thing I really believe after watching a few of Hughies fights is this, he must harden up his body, it looks sloppy, but if he’s diligent and does what he is supposed to do that will happen very soon, another thing he needs to concentrate on is his balance, but so do a lot of other fighters, keeping busy against low rated opposition , at this stage is the right thing to do, it gives him experience against so many different styles, he is in no hurry at 18, he must have something,he was Junior amateur super Heavyweight Champion. I really think his management SHOULD bring in a world class experienced trainer, there’s no shame in getting some help to shape the finished product, he shows a jab, but, he, at the moment is only punching at the opponent, instead of punching through him, to get to, and stay at the top, he has to do that. Best of luck Hughie, you have the basics, listen to advice, dump the hangers on, mix with successful trainers and fighters, and you have as much chance as anyone else out there.

This is Rick Gervais picture surely?

Doubt he will fight Cornish, who is another 6ft 8 new pro…but Cornish neds to look at stepping up the comp now.

Ernie -How can being World Super Heavy Youth Champ and winning 8 fights in 4 months as an 18 year old pro = ”not looking to good at this point”??? lol

nice article

It’s Me, Ernie

Tyson Fury has NO CHANCE of going up in his career, the jury is still out on Hughie although it’s not looking too good at this point. You have got to give it to Tyson though, he has made a few bucks and stands to make a few more, he’s came a long way with just his height and his big mouth and little actual boxing skills…

I saw Hughie Fury’s fights that were televised in the US and was impressed with his technique. Comp’s soft but he hardly had any fights. They’ve sure got him on a fast track, 8 fights in 5 months as a pro. Seems like they’ll ramp up his comp unlike some so-called prospects.

Bolo

I know a Collins article from the first sentence. You are right, he needs to go. Negative all the time.

Posted August 2, 2013 11:35 am

Ned

At this rate, Hughie (still a teenager) could have 15 fights under his belt by next March. That’s really staying busy. Other suggested B-level opponents for Hughie include: Beck, Butlin, Miles, Bertino, Cornish, Howe, or Dallas. Mick Hennessey may also line up a Canadian opponent like Andreseen, since Hughie resides in Montreal.

CARLOS

Pretty good having that many fights so quick. Maybe he should slow it down a little. Look at deontay whose 9 years older and still treading water. What about Thompson and these others who more than twice his age.

JUST LIKE HIS COUSIN A COMPLETE WANKER.

Need to get rid of this contributor, if you can call him that. Its really amateurish and just persecutory trolling, every piece has the same stupid theme, nothing intelligent, well written or insightful, just a weir personal hatred of Brits.

Whats this writers problem, hughie looks good so far and has kod 5 out of 8

Posted August 2, 2013 8:01 am

This fella has a real problem with fighters from the UK, hes obviously Anti-British, obsessed with writing negative crap about any British fighter.

Posted August 2, 2013 7:21 am

Collins needs to stop writing, and ESB needs to get some legit, professional writers.

Hes just embarrasing

“not capable of knocking out even the weak opposition he’s being fed.”

Uhhh, so far, he’s been capable of stopping 5 of the 8 he’s been fed. Ask dem boys how hard dis kid slaps…

Mick the Marmalizer

I’m looking forward to seeing him clash with Kiwi Joseph Parker in a few years time. Two young guns with a lot of promise!

Posted August 2, 2013 2:44 am

AssyrianGod

Truly dreadful diatribe here! A 6ft 6inch 18 year old heavyweight is NEVER going to have reached physical maturity so how in hell can this guy state he slaps and has no power?? He has ko’d 5 out of 8 opponents, all more mature and more experienced than him. Fury can also fight; for an 18 year old he has an excellent skill set, good hand and foot speed, good mobility, good stamina and good strength…As for his level of opposition; what the hell does the writer expct an 18 yr old with 4 months pro experience to be doing? McPhilbin is probably as good as the stiffs the 28 year old Deontay Wilder was fighting last year!

Agreed: The author is a “TWAT”!

Young Fury’s earning my respect due to his activity, 8 fights in a years not bad at all. I see him beating McPhilbin & hopefully a fight with English champion John McDermott can be arranged. Another option could be undefeated David Howe for the vacant central area title.
