yes . . . Tua should have invested in McDonalds or KFC. Old Henry owns 9 mac-a-doos in Germany. Henry is a terrible commentator. They still invite the gentleman to almost every major fight. He is definitely having it his way. Ask old Hill. Hill got paid and did not care.

Are you misquoting Sheridan? I don’t know Why he would damage his credibility by talking sh.. like that! Dude has hair color like Red Buttons now, he should let it grow out and attend testimonial dinners with his time!

COLONEL BOB SHUT UP , IS MAKING A BASLESS STATEMENT HERE! IF HE ( TUA ) COULD NOT “TOUCH” LENNOX LEWIS MANY YEARS AGO , HOW WOULD HE EVEN EVER GET CLOSE TO THE KLITSCHKO’S ? BOXING SKILLIS IS KEY, AND DAVID IS OLDER ,SLOWER,FATTER, GIVE ME A BREAK WITH THIS REDICULOUS, OUTRAGEOUS, ASSESSMENT ! THE KB’S ARE TOOOOOO! BIG ,STRONG,,POWERFUL,SMART,HEAVY HANDED, ….SHALL I GO ON?

wlad win! pulev win! wlad-pulev 2014! there is some room for upsets here. maybe a thompson-povetkin 2014. the old man beats povetkin and gets a hold of all those belts. what irony! that would be funny as hell.

Drago, good point. Pulev does not seem to be planting his feet right for max power. Some guys have natural power, and some do not. Pulev could train to improve a bit of power, but if it ain’t there, it never will be. No pop in the bop. He has great chin and toughness and heart though. Maybe he needs a little juice in those lacky biceps of his.

Word is that Tua has a calf strain and may need a postponement.

Posted August 7, 2013 2:00 am

Lenzo

Tua / Arreola would be worthy, but Tua is too far junior for any K.

Posted August 7, 2013 12:29 am

Tua’s fat in the photo as a couple of people have stated–what makes it even more troublesome is the photo was taken back in ’97 when he was “younger”.

Posted August 6, 2013 10:43 pm

TARK

Vitali is 2 years older than Tua… I think Vitali peaked at 37 when he battered Peter — but he put on a brilliant boxing display in stopping Adamek after winning every minute of every round, at 40.

But he’s taking a while figuring out if he really wants to fight Stiverne at 42.

Posted August 6, 2013 10:41 pm

Alonzo

They need Tua? Why not Samson Pu’a? Or better yet Carl Williams. How about Bonecrusher Smith. Any other old timers?

Posted August 6, 2013 10:34 pm

JimR

Beating up on inferior opponents wouldn’t leave me with a sense of achievement. These Klit bro beat up on these other fighters like a men fighting a boy. Same as big George fighting blown up cruiserweights on his comback, wow makes you feel proud huh. Lets pick on poor wanna be heavyweight champ tua who doesn’t know his time has come and passed 10 years ago, I think tua really just sees how weak the heavyweight picture and wants a payday like anyone else against a klit bro. I don’t really see any good the klit bros are doing right now except lining their pockets with cash, don’t they have enough? The fame must be so much they are treated like royalty so they just want keep fighting but it’s a tired old story now and I’d like see klit bros move on.

Posted August 6, 2013 10:29 pm

the best assets a boxer can have is his fists,a good chin, and his legs. punching power comes from your legs. tuas legs are huge! ripped up tree trunks! you could be the fattest guy around but if you come in to a fight punching really sharp, your punches are going to hurt!

Posted August 6, 2013 10:24 pm

JimR

Why are the klit bros still fighting, for the money and fame of course. When the Klit bros retire maybe the heavyweight picture gets more interesting? Does anyone care who the klit face, I haven’t been following them for years as no one they faught I though had any chance of winning. Haye, lol, what a joke of a fight he had, my toe awe awe, hell is that the best we can do, gods way of saying enough is enough big men shouldn’t be beating up on each other.

Posted August 6, 2013 10:20 pm

Who cares?

The klits need Tua like I need a dose of the cl-p.

Posted August 6, 2013 9:34 pm

Pratt

Actually, I liked Tua best with the crazy long Samoan hair do. Like the mythical Sampson, Tua seemed to loose his strength when he cut off his locks, like Sampson lost his strength when his hair was cut off.

Posted August 6, 2013 8:28 pm

Pratt

KL, correct. Pulev is number one manditory in IBF for Wlad. And Denis Boytsov is number one manditory in WBO for Wlad. And Povetkin is above Haye, who is number one manditory in WBA for Wlad. Wlad is going to be a very busy man. He has no room for Tua. Vitali needs to take care of Stiverne who is top dog in WBC. He also has no room for Tua unless he uses Tua for a Tuneup. Tua the tuneup man. Who knows, maybe Vitali tosses Tua a bone for a freebee shot. I always liked David Tua and admired his one punch KO power. But he is just too short for the K-Bros as Lewis prooved him (and Mike Tyson) to be too short for these big guys. Tua would be a good candidate for Haye or Stiverne. I think Tua made a mistake with fighting Ustinov. That guy is a huge man.

Posted August 6, 2013 8:17 pm

Xavier

Tua looks old and fat in the face. He’s 40, nearly as old as Vitali, probably more used up. He ain’t gonna beat a Klitschko. Can he beat Ustinov? That’s doubtful too. The thing with Ustinov though, Pulev made him quit. There’s a doubt with Ustinov. But really, Tua. David Tua should have been a champ 10, 15 years ago if he was going to do it.

Posted August 6, 2013 7:55 pm

TARK

@KL…, “Tua was at the peak of his powers when he met Lewis”

NO he wasn’t… He badly injured his ribs during training… He got greedy for the money and didn’t ask for a postponement… He came into the fight undertrained and weighing 257. At least 25lbs overweight.

He wasn’t going to fight anything but a miserable fight that night.

Posted August 6, 2013 4:31 pm

KL

C Morgan, I’ve seen the video……… despite what team Tua say……Tua is not in shape.

Posted August 6, 2013 1:23 pm

KL

Tark I hear you……….that said Ustinov ain’t that good either……so it might be an even match up…….both slow and lumbering!

Posted August 6, 2013 1:17 pm

TARK

Tua has a 20-second KO of Michael Moorer—the chinniest champ who ever lived.. That was slightly impressive.. Tua couldn’t do anything to a massively fat Hasim Rahman—the last time he fought a major fighter—which was about 10 years or more ago…

Slow as Hell Nicolai Valuev was able to impressively KO a prime Monte Barrett. An 39-year-old Barrett decked a 36-year-old Tua … and gave him a good drubbing.

Tua is not going to do a damned thing … and that’s a dead solid lock.

Posted August 6, 2013 1:12 pm

c.morgan

Did you guys see the press conference photos? Tua looks fat and old and Ustinov doesn’t look much better.

Posted August 6, 2013 1:06 pm

The Klitschkos want a old David tua, because the division is dead…. They think David tua might be the revulsive for this division….

Posted August 6, 2013 11:56 am

Pratt (as in rat you twit)

Rod has it right. & Wlad need to sign Pulev. Vitali/Stiverne or Haye.

Posted August 6, 2013 11:41 am

Dan D

Tua! Now, in 2013? I dont think so.

Posted August 6, 2013 11:22 am

KL

I think quite a lot of boxing fans fought that Tua would give Lewis a “fierce” fight……….but Tua just got pounded for 12 rounds……and it was almost as painful as watching Lewis pound a shot Mike Tyson……..the problem was that Tua was at the peak of his powers when he met Lewis…….only to fail miserably. A fight against Wlad would probably have resulted in a similar shut out.
As for the Klitschkos needing Tua…….. you mean just like Lewis legacy needed Tua!
As for the upcoming fight………. well Ustinov may be promoted by the Klitschkos but he sure don’t fight like them………Ustinov is slow and lumbering and wins most of his fights not on skill but on size. An over the hill Tua does indeed have a chance against Ustinov…….but I doubt a victory over Ustinov will mean anything too significant, Ustinov is one of the weakest contenders of the lot out there.
Obviously the promoters are hyping up this fight as if it was another Holyfield vs Bowe…….but in reality it will probably end up as a boring fight with neither boxer scoring any punches of significance and end up as 12 slow lumbering rounds with a decision that could go either way.

that don’t belong in the same ring with the K – Brothers !

Nothing against Tua or Col. Bob, but Sheridan is completely wrong on this one. Tua is a big puncher, but even in his prime he didn’t win the big ones. Now that he is semi retired and struggling with second tier journeymen, why is he now an attractive contender? Tua vs Mitchell might be fun, or, perhaps Adamek, but David couldn’t get close to any of the very top men.

Posted August 6, 2013 8:23 am

Hosteen

Wow – Tua is very fat in photo

Posted August 6, 2013 6:55 am

Tua will lose to Ustinov. He has always struggled with taller fighters and is giving up 10 inches against the Russian. Ustinov cannot be pushed around and muscles he is 300 plus pounds. Tua has a punchers chance and it’s not going to happen. Ustinov will exhaust him and make him look like an old past his prime fighter.

the voice of reason

This is a fascinating fight and i sure hope tua comes out with all guns blazing. I have a feeling though that he will come out plodding. When tua is in the right mood he is a force to be reckoned with for sure, but he rarely seems to be in that mind-set. Even at his peak he was like that, remember his god-awful plodding show against lewis. I have a feeling that ustinov may well end his career here. Would love to see him just get mentally right and come out in destructive mood. if he does, well………!

I have said it all this time, even the worst moments of the Tua´s career and the people laughed at me… In the actual panorama, David Tua, a boxer who hasn´t never been knocked with only one knockdown in his career is the only one who might win one of the Klitschko brothers…. now reading this news all is confirmed… The klistchkos want David Tua in action with them…. I have said too David tua will be world champion sometime…..He deserves it.

Posted August 6, 2013 2:04 am

The Klitschkos need David Tua to stay in Australia or retire. In this prime, David Tua embarassed himself against Lennox Lewis. Now, David Tua should be embarassed about Bob Sheridan’s contention that Tua is championship material. End of story.

No, the Kbros do not need an over the hill TUA. Wlad needs Povetkin, then Pulev. Vitali needs Stiverne or Haye. No Tua, No Tua, No Tua. For gosh sakes Monte Barrett beat him. And this Giant Ustinov will probably retire Tua. Pulev had a rough and rock and roll fight with Ustinov and beat him. Wladdy needs to man up and sign Pulev.

I was a massive fan of Tua. He has laid out several fighters who would go on to, or had held world titles.

At his best he was a monster.

Even at his peak, never in a million years would he beat Vitali. Wlad – well, I rate Tua well ahead of Sam Peter, and he had Wlad up and down like Chasey Laines underpants, so there is a glimmer of hope for him there.

Now he has fallen into the the genetic trap of Pacific Islanders – they blobbify around 35. They need to be kept playing rugby 23 hours a day.

I’ve watched Tuas career closely and like him as a fighter and a persona but this is a joke. Tua has no more chance against a Klitchko than anyone else. As to calling out Wilder, waste of breath. Wilder wouldn’t go within a mile of Tua! And if he did, brutal Ko and Wilders hype evaporates. But then again, I’d back a 1/2-fit Tua against all US heavyweights except Thompson. WAY too much hype and WAY too little ability!
