Great and insightful article. Far, more balanced, far more proportional then a certain Sucky Scott on a rival website.

How LONG can a FIGHTER be INACTIVE and HOLD the BELT????? If WARD can NOT fight anymore STRIP him of his HARDWARE. Its that simple. He might retire KNOWING GGG is a comming. Better keep that FLOYD mayweather 0… As LONG as possiblePosted August 10, 2013 12:50 pm

JOE CAlz was greatPosted August 8, 2013 6:52 am
To be fair to Ward, his first and 3rd fights with Gatti were excellent, as were his rucks with Emanuele Burton and Reggie Green. He was one tough irishmanPosted August 8, 2013 6:20 am
Look Froch is well worth his money for entertainments value. But he’s floored and definately not the number one in the division due to being outclassed by Ward. I’m no masive fan of Wards style but you can not deny it is effective and no amount of paper titles will make Froch number one. Great comments on here about Calzaghe who was streets aheard of Froch. Both Clazaghe and Ward are/will be all time greats and special fighters. Calzaghe was the ultimate fighter in terms of being technically sound and effective whilst also being super entertaining. Ward less so due to his style but no one can deny his effectivenes. I love Froch due to his style nad entertainment factor but lets not get carried away.Posted August 8, 2013 4:20 am

Look someone obviously needs to address the elephant in the room here.
Andre Ward. Ward to me looks a bit rapey.
The dudes shifty little crab eyes are always darting about looking for his next target. He has a clammy looking face.
He shouldn`t be loose in the community where his predatory sexual nature will cause nothing but problems to decent citizens.Posted August 7, 2013 10:41 pm
Froch is a poor man’s Calzaghe.Posted August 7, 2013 10:23 pm
Froch got beat by a outdated Kessler. Calzaghe beat Kessler in his Prime. ‘Nuff said! Kessler is another fave of mine and I hate to use him as the catalyst to solve such issue. But Joe got into the ring with the best Kessler we ever saw. I think Joe actually ruined Kessler a little bit after that because he was never really the same.Posted August 7, 2013 10:22 pm
Bluesman has absolutely got the beat!!! Preach it brother!!! Carl has never displayed the talet, entertainment or energy that Joe brought to the ring, NOT ONCE! Froch shouldn’t be in the same sentence with the name Calzaghe!!!Posted August 7, 2013 10:18 pm
Just the Facts
Barlow – Froch is the number 1 guy due to being a unified champ. Ward did lose his belt because he was too scared to fight outside his homeland and faked injuries. He didn’t want to risk fighting the unknown greatness of Bute after Super 6. It took a real fighter in Froch to take the chance and then expose Bute which Ward didn’t have the sack to to do. Now when Ward wants to come looking for his so-called belts that he didn’t lose, there are these little booklets called passports and freakish bird like air conveyances called planes. He can fly over to Europe and put his reputation on the line without home cooking support. He will even experience a real atmosphere created by a crowd greater than his usual 2000 fans.Posted August 7, 2013 9:01 pm
Carl Froch will NEVER beat Andre Ward and will NEVER be as good as Joe Calzaghe!Posted August 7, 2013 8:26 pm
Boxing Barlow….let me pull your comments apart. How was Carl out on his feet against Taylor? He got put down early, looked surprised but wasn’t hurt and got up easy. The rest is history.Posted August 7, 2013 4:48 pm

Lazy – Who cares about Ward? lol yeah lets just ignore him and pretend that Froch is the number one in the division and concentrate on all his belts! I love Froch to bits but theres no point pretending that Ward does not exsist.Posted August 7, 2013 3:18 pm
Boxing Barlow, you need to get a life. Anyone can find exceptions to any points. And I didn’t read all of what you read, too long and irrelevant. Who cares about Ward? Could he fill out arenas like Froch does? Not unless thousands want to be put to sleep.

I like Groves but Froch has been fighting at a top tier level and has been looking better and better, he wasn’t exactly battered by Ward, he did lose though.

Cant help but pull this article a part. “only Carl Froch to beat in order to claim the ‘numero uno’ spot”, what about Andre Ward? “If one decides to go toe-to-toe with Carl it’s like playing Russian roulette only with every chamber loaded… there’s only one possible outcome, you’re going to get your head pulped”. The writer goes on to admit that Kessler stood toe to toe with Froch in their first fight and backed Froch up all night. Kessler beat Froch at his own game that evening and whilst the writer states it was a closer fight that the Ward fight, Kessler’s win was by far the more impressive in my book as Kessler played Froch at his own game and won. “Can Groves stop Carl Froch? Probably not” All fighters can be stopped. Froch looked out on his feet at one point in the Taylor fight and only just scraped through. Froch is NOT invincible. “the belts that Froch deservedly wears”. I do wish people would stop referring to Froch as WBA and unified champ. Ward had that title and was never beat for it. The paper title Froch holds is the interim title McGee held and was then ‘upgraded’ to ‘regular’ title by the WBA when Kessler won it and it has now been turned into the ‘super’ title since the WBA have realized they are making no money out of Ward any time soon due to his injury. So no Froch does not deservedly wear this particular belt. With regards to the IBF one, credit can be given to Froch for blasting out Bute but lets not retract from the fact that Ward to the number one not Froch and no amount of belts in the world will change this. The only point made in the article which is worth noting is the fact that Groves has sparred with Froch in recent times. Now Groves has worked his way up the rankings quite nicely and was penned in to fight for the WBO belt at one point. I’m no doubt he would have got a shot at an alphabet belt sooner or later and Froch is defiantely coming towards the end of his career, therefore were Groves worried by Froch threes no doubt he could have side stepped this fight and still have been successful in his career. So I got to say agree with the writer that Groves must really fancy this fight.Posted August 7, 2013 11:51 am
I didnt even notice the Tony Booth thing lol. Just the other day someone wrote that Curtis Stevens wanted to fight Able Sanchez lolPosted August 7, 2013 9:57 am
Apologies to Adam Booth for the school boy error in the article – of course it’s ‘Adam’; I’ve no idea where ‘Tony’ came from… the pitfalls of late night writing, I suppose. Thanks to ‘the dark lord’ for pointing it out.Posted August 7, 2013 9:10 am
See thats the vulnerability i see about Groves. I dont think he is a ”solid” fighter. Hes got all the flash, but i just dont see him as being a solid fighterPosted August 7, 2013 8:31 am
Grove is a solid fighter and I really like his chance in this fight. He beat a boxer, he beat a puncher, he has a solid chin, good boxing knowledge. He is little inexperienced compare to Froch but I’m sure he makes that up with his skills and will.Posted August 7, 2013 8:05 am
The Dark Lord
Tony Booth? Thought it was Adam Booth…whatever
Kessller easily ducked under most of Froch’s telegraphed right hands, spun him around like a merry go round. If Groves can do the same the fight will be much easier.Posted August 7, 2013 5:17 am
Lol, with GGG pulverising Ward at ring sidePosted August 7, 2013 4:56 am
I`d like to see Bute, Pascal and Stevenson all in the same ring just beating up Hopkins.
With bats, bicycle chains, socks full off golf balls, frozen mackerals, traffic cones – just anything.Posted August 7, 2013 4:22 am
Id prefer Stevenson vs Pascal warrrrrr!Posted August 7, 2013 4:06 am
on another note i really want to see Pascal vs Bute. Just thought i would put that out therePosted August 7, 2013 3:36 am
Funnily enough i get the exact same feeling about Groves and Haye. I always get the feeling that Haye could be taken out with 1 big shot every time i watch him, and ive seen Groves look vulnerable quite a few times too. And yeh i think hes come on alot since the Anderson fight, and he should have set the record straight with Anderson before now.
I think Groves beats the likes of Bika, Steiglitz, Abraham, and Bute. But i dont think he beats Froch or Kessler because i feel theres something missing, and as we said theres a vulnerability about himPosted August 7, 2013 3:34 am
i think degale wins easilyPosted August 7, 2013 3:24 am
I`d have loved to see Groves back in with Anderson before having this fight.
It`s hard to tell if Groves made Anderson look better than he is, or if Groves has improved significantly since then.
He has put opponents away in nice style, and he certainly had enough to get Johnsons attention in the very first round.
But for some reason I do get a sense of vulnerability around him.
I get similar feelings with David Haye too – when your primary assets are speed, power and movement and you use them in such a way that you are looking to walk people onto Hollywood shots, then you can be slowly and systematically broken down by someone who can nullify you.
I almost see this fight like a rugby match where one team scores a couple of very flashy looking tries, but their forwards fall apart after 60 minutes and they get rolled over.
If Froch does get to him, I hope it isn`t a career altering beating like Bute got.Posted August 7, 2013 3:21 am
Good article, well written and i enjoyed it. However i must point out that before Kessler faced Calzaghe his comp was never spectacular anyway. Biggest names on Kesslers record before Calzaghe was Limbrado Andrade. After he beat Andrade he went on to fight better fighters and thats when he started to lose. What i will say though is i think Kessler has been on a down-slide since his injury troubles. Anyway, Groves CAN win by using hit and run tactics which i think he will try to use. Hes a slick little b@st@rd and moves around like a snake. But at the end of the day he’s a ginger, and gingers love a fight, so i can see him trading at some point, and i see a TKO victory for mr Froch around the 8th with groves getting smashed against the ropes and taking multiple shots to the head very similar to how Kenny Anderson put him down, BUT Froch knows how to finishPosted August 7, 2013 2:55 am
if a bum like soggy can beat ward so easy how good can he be. soggy & ward = KO fodder for Triple GGGPosted August 7, 2013 2:46 am

Firstly thanks to the Author on a very well written article.
You have to be able to out-think and outskill for 12 rounds a pressure fighter the calibre of Carl Froch, not many guys out there who can do that to top level fighters, its no coincedence that the top 2 p4p guys of the sport can do that well.Posted August 6, 2013 11:07 pm
Hey, That’s My Bike!!!
Froch wins by late KO. The writer makes Froch sound invincible in the toughness stakes. I’d watch a Froch v Bika battle because I think Bika is equally as tough but with a little less granite in his chin.Posted August 6, 2013 8:26 pm
Froch always tsking toughf fights, thats what I like about him he fights anybody, he will fight ward again in his last fight I think.Posted August 6, 2013 8:25 pm

GONZO OF NAZARETH
Groves always gets his game plan spot on, and i think he will nullify frochs so called strengths. He might do an Andre Ward on him, dont be surprised. He will bang when he need to bang and box when he need to box. Only way Froch wins this fight is via the judges robbing and giving him a very controversial decision. Gonzo is always right never wrong, the greatest analyst since antiquity.Posted August 6, 2013 7:13 pm
Froch will beat Groves UP ….Groves movement is his BEST chance.. Keep his distance fast hands , and just keep moving lateral movement while keeping Froch off balance …Just like Taylor did before being stopped …….Though I doubt Groves will be able to pull it off Carl Froch is no Glen Johnson at least in terms of LAST legs (which Glen has been on ) At this point in time George would be better off fighting AA Robert Stieglitz , and or the newly crowned Sakio Bika ….Posted August 6, 2013 6:04 pm
honestly froch will “spoil” groves boxing and i see froch winning a maj. decision, why npot a stoppage? cause groves will try to hit and run all night long.Posted August 6, 2013 5:19 pm
Best article for a while, well balanced and unbiased for once, I fancy Froch to KO Groves by Round 7 after Groves boxing his way into a lead.Posted August 6, 2013 5:17 pm

Looking forward to this fight. Groves needs to use an in and out tactic if he has any chance a bit like the Johnson fight but much higher scale. I also think groves is the bigger puncher. But I think froch has the best chin p4p so should stand everything groves can offer. But if he catches groves it will be good night George he don’t seem to have the chin of froch. So an in out fully focused groves may steal it on points but I think froch will catch and hurt down groves either late tko or comfortable but close points winPosted August 6, 2013 2:19 pm
the bookies know that froch is going ko mr groves.. you think groves would beat bute? or you think groves would do better than bute? bute was an unbeaten world champion.. groves is a top european level knocking all the bums out.. the degale fight was a draw at best.. lets get realPosted August 6, 2013 1:43 pm
