Kovalev will WIN by Welshman WILTING stoppage. Cleverly punches TOO wide and carries FEATHERS vs BRICKS. Cleverly can be caught right in between his punches by Kovalev he punches TOO wide…..Cleverly is no Calzaghe and even Calzage may be in trouble here. Kovalev by stopagge…..IF the SILLY bookies have it at dollar for dollar then bet every one you have and DOUBLE your money. Merry Christmas!!Posted August 14, 2013 6:27 pm

Kovalev has a great KO record. Big deal. The whole world was raving about JuanMa Lopez, a guy who had stopped something like 27 out of 33 opponents until 11-time loser Salido canned his butt–twice. I’m with Turbo Hamster on this fight. If Cleverly will stick to boxing and not brawling, and stay focused, he can win this fight. That’s why I like Cleverly by Decision.Posted August 14, 2013 10:32 am
Kov’s biggest win is still Campillo.
And Cleverly victim Murat beat and drew with Campillo. Shumenov beat him too.
So this IS a step up for Kovalev too.
I favour Kovalev in the fight, but I believe Cleverly is a lot more solid than some people think.
My knock on Cleverly is that he often boxes down to the level of his opponents, and slugging – often straight after he has shown he can do a decent job of winning defensively behind the jab.
I`d like to think it is a calculated bid to provide entertainment, but it may be that he just can`t concetrate.
If Kovalev doesn`t concentrate him noone will.Posted August 14, 2013 3:56 am
Reff and judges have been announced, The reff is english, and the judges are Alfredo Polanco from Mexico, Jose Ignacio Martinez from Spain and Zoltan Enyedi from Hungary. Aint gonna be no home cooking, Cleverly will put on a clinic like none of you seen coming. British fighters have a good record when it comes to so-called super punchers coming over here to kill us. Clev by UD or late stoppagePosted August 14, 2013 3:37 am
Cleverly will expose the hype. Kovalev wont be finished, but Clev will prove himself to be a step too far for the big hitting Ruski. Also im not as impressed by Kovalevs power as some of you guys are. Yeh he can bang, but i knock out puussies and old men atleast 2 saturday nights a month, that doesnt mean i can KO Nathan CleverlyPosted August 14, 2013 3:31 am
Kovalev’s trainer said they have trained for 12 rounds.
Cleverly is counting on his referee and judges in his hometown to give him a win. Cleverly knows he does not have to fight, just be standing at the end of the fight. I don’t know if the referee can save Cleverly, but it won’t be a level playing field. I saw Kovalev beat Campillo, stopped him in three rounds. He also stopped White who had fought a couple good fighters, one of was a Cuban……..Posted August 14, 2013 1:10 am
Wiiliam…. The bookies don’t bet.. The bettors move the line not the books.. Mosley was a 7-1 favorite to beat Forrest and he got clobbered. Tyson was 20-1 to beat Holyfield. 42-1 to beat Douglas.
The bookies don’t know crap.Posted August 14, 2013 12:52 am
SKs records is not impressive whereas Clev has been in with top 10 fighters for the last 3 years. Far too much class for the big banger, he has taken some heavy shots and walked through them.Posted August 13, 2013 10:12 pm
The bookies have the fight even and they know.Posted August 13, 2013 9:01 pm
What he actually said is nobody is guaranteeing the fight will go past 3 rounds — and that he’s trained to go 12 rounds if necessary… He also said it will be a great fight because you have 2 undefeated fighters clashing.Posted August 13, 2013 8:40 pm
Kovalev is a wrecking machine, but he is not careless. He maintains balance, distance, and movement even while throwing nuclear missiles. Kovalev by a grotesque, bloody, disfiguring, seizure-inducing TKO in the 3rdPosted August 13, 2013 7:41 pm
Hopkins is fighting easy marks lately.Posted August 13, 2013 6:00 pm
Cleverly chose Kovalev, not the other way round, Cleverly is the champ and chose Kovalev.Posted August 13, 2013 5:58 pm
Hopkins could of fought Kovalev, it’s not about the belts, he could of dropped the title to Kovalev, what’s the pint waiting arund to fight Murat.Posted August 13, 2013 5:56 pm
I’m looking forward to this one. I think Kovalev might be underating Cleverly the way Jeff Lacey underated Calzaghe.Posted August 13, 2013 5:47 pm
Nope. Pay closer attention to Boxing. Hopkins is due for a mandatory Defense which means he has no choice. Kovalev had the choice of either Cleverly or Hopkins and he chose Cleverly. And that elevated Murat into the mandatory spot vs Hopkins. Hopkins has no choice in the matter besides face him or be stripped. Hopkins wanted to face Cleverly IF he could choose but he can’t.Posted August 13, 2013 5:43 pm
Cleverly chose Kovalev, Hopkins wouldn’t fight Kovalev he went for Murat instead.Posted August 13, 2013 5:01 pm
Kovalev by stoppage. Its EASY to call. Cleverly punches TOO wide. Why do you think Kovalev chose Cleverly instead of Hopkins???Posted August 13, 2013 4:46 pm
A real tough one to call, so far Cleverly has shown a rock solid jaw, and I think
if you think kovalev fights bums look at clevs resume, murat probably the best ,very bad stoppage, little knick on murats nose !!!. sure hope kovalev doesn’t get a wee little cut. they will stop the fight and give it to cleverly.Posted August 13, 2013 2:46 pm
@ mr.Fact make sure you come back to esb after the fight .
BILLY YANK MEDALS, YOU MUST BE A PAKI OR A MUSLIM.Posted August 13, 2013 2:42 pm
Kovalev’s pressure is what makes him so dangerous, but hitable, good footwork and hard, accurate counterpunching is the way to beat him…..running or the rope a dope is not the answerPosted August 13, 2013 2:16 pm
The poor Russian trained by a punched drunk trainer GONNA GET BEAT BY THE BOY FROM THE VALLEYS
ray gordon reid
ENJOY THE fightPosted August 13, 2013 1:22 pm
Sadly, I reckon it will be Kovalev by brutal KO. Cleverly has one of the best chins in boxing but this will be its biggest test.Posted August 13, 2013 1:17 pm
Anyone can guarantee the fight will go past 3, but why would anyone? If someone guaranteed it would go past 3 and it does not, then those who bet the fight would go past 3 can be reimbursed for their loss.Posted August 13, 2013 1:16 pm
Actually if you listen to the video he says in English: “no one can guarantee that this fight will go more than three rounds but i train for more, twelve.”Posted August 13, 2013 1:10 pm
Thanks hbo for this fight great match up, I watched the froch vs kessler fight aswell, bout time you guys get your hesd out of your behinds. Your showing the klitschko fight aswell hmmm you guys must of hired sum1 with brain cells, good job bout time.Posted August 13, 2013 1:10 pm
KOVALEV: “I’VE TRAINED TO GO THREE ROUNDS, BUT NO ONE CAN GUARANTEE THAT THIS FIGHT WILL GO PAST THREE.” This is an obvious mistranslation.Posted August 13, 2013 1:05 pm
after watching a highlight reel of Kovalev (will be honest i’d never heard of him before) i see something that will definately trouble Cleverly. Kovalev doesnt look like a one punch knockout artist like his resume may suggest, he seems to overwhelm his oppponents with volume power punching. This is something i think could work well against Cleverly. Nathan isnt hard to hit, Bellew tagged him with bombs in their fight but he has a solid chin and is boxer with stellar conditioning an endurance. The only thing i can see Cleverly doing in this fight is weathering the storm and pulling the fight into his favour once Kovalev has tired himself..Tough one to call. Cleverly wont be easy to stop but he will take punishment thats gaurenteed. Might go on a close/controversial Cleverly SDPosted August 13, 2013 12:49 pm
He’s trained to go three rounds? That’s an absurd statement. Always train to go 12.Posted August 13, 2013 12:32 pm

Got the lottery numbers too moonshineman?
It does seem that a lot of folks are betting on what Gerald McClelan was meant to do to Nigel Benn, and arguably did, and to a lesser extent the old boring ‘Lacy will destroy Calzaghe’ banana skin.
Maybe so, but when you get caught up in the hype of a puncher it’s easy to forget the opposition (erm, McClellan) and what they can bring, not to mention (I will mention) that hitherto now and present-day Campillo included, Kovalev hasn’t faced opposition on this level before. Easy to rebuke and say that Cleverly hasn’t either. Que sera sera, but my money’s on the Welshman to prove he’s right up there at 175 against what could well be (typo or no typo) another prime example of boxing hubris from the Kovalev camp.Posted August 13, 2013 12:27 pm
Kovalev said that he’s trained for 12-15 rounds – not three as was wrongly reported.Posted August 13, 2013 12:25 pm
I hope referee does not let Sergei punch Cleverly senseless on the ropes. Sergei has heavy hands.Posted August 13, 2013 12:15 pm
KOVALEV is correct.Posted August 13, 2013 12:01 pm
Hey, That’s my Bike!!!
Definitely a typo, should say “I’ve trained to go 12 rounds…” and it’s ‘lose’ not “loose”. Who edits these articles? Looking forward to a great contest. Kovalev W.KO.7.Posted August 13, 2013 11:22 am

maybe just trying to get some last minute subscribers in what has been a very low key build up to one of the toughest fights happening this year so far. its almost like a trade fight where only us in the know can appreciate the magnitude of it, I kinda like that.Posted August 13, 2013 11:07 am
For the life of me, I don’t know why fighters and their managers make such outrageous predictions. Kovalev is a fine puncher, but Cleverly is, by far, better than anyone else he has fought. The name of the game is still boxing, and Kovalev will have his hands full. Do they think a top pro fighter will be intimidated by such talk? The fight is signed, both will be there, so why the needless bombast?Posted August 13, 2013 10:59 am
When everyone falls over in front of you it must give a false confidence, but not everyone will fall over and Clav is one of them.Posted August 13, 2013 10:42 am
Clev will tame Krusher, that must have been a typo, the guys a fool if he’s only trained for three rounds.Posted August 13, 2013 10:38 am
Kovalev has been koing bums all over the USA, the only name he has is the Spaniard Campillo, who was also floored by the useless Tavoris Cloud before getting up to get robbed. Cleverley will be tougher, faster, more skilled, hungrier and have a higher workrate than any of the stiffs Kovalev has been rolling. Not to say Cleverley wins, but i’m leaning towards Cleverley UD12.Posted August 13, 2013 10:30 am
A lot of Kovalev’s opponents have been serial losers. Cleverly should be able to outbox him. BTW Mr. Kovalev, you should be training for a 12 round fight, not a three round fight.Posted August 13, 2013 10:19 am
Kovalev keep thinking a few big bombs is all you need…big mistake!!!Posted August 13, 2013 10:14 am
