I would have rather seen old Thomspon fight Vitali than Stieverne. Stieverne at 6’2 with average head movement, slow feet and average fitness is tailor made for Vitali. Thompson at 6’5 with a good long jab, good power and a ton of experience who can play chess and bang would give Vitali a fight. Shame we did not see Vitali against taller opponents. I can only go on the lewis fight and the Timo hoffman fight. Both were wars and awesome to watch.

Vitali would beat Stiverne easily anyway, Bermaine is tailor made for his beating.

Wlad has been the real champ for some time now. Vitali has been fighting soft opposition for several years usually in the form of blown up cruisers or short fat guys “well at least several inches shorter than himself” who have zero chance hitting him. I could not see Vitali ever getting in the ring with a 6’9 fury, a old but still dangerous Thompson or a hard hitting fast haye or a hard nut like pulev. He will still beat Stiverne who just does not have the speed, head movement, height or fitness to take out Vitali but the once great vitali is now faded, injury prone and is not fighting challenging top level contenders and not regularly enough. Time to pass it on to younger brother.

Look at the picture of the Klitshko family on Wikepedia:
Vitali and Wladimir are two skinny teens;
Vitali at 15 barely reached the breast height of his 5’4 mother;
5 years later, he was a 6’7 giant!
Look at Wladimir, on the picture he is all bones as though found on a Somali desert….
What happened within 5 years is a scientific mystery….
All we know as FACT is that a few years later, Vitali Klitorisko was caught with significant residues of Human Growth Hormone in his system…

I reckon this is all to do with Vitali getting momentum for his bid to be president of the Ukraine. He wants a final bout to finish on high with to kick-start his political ambition.

He may or may not be injured but I think the elections are in 2015 so if he has a final fare well bout he can start a years campaigning as the retired heavyweight champion of the world, I bet this fight takes place in the Ukraine too.

Clearly the WBC have got something invested there, some backhander is happening for sure no doubt. Sport and politics are equally corrupt boxing is probably one of the more corrupt sports.

That said I think as a candidate Vitali would be better for the Ukraine than the current president

So what is Vitali lost a kick-boxing match! That has nothing to do with the science.

His chosen career sport is boxing and he has NEVER once touched the canvas. The two losses on his record were due to a serious shoulder injury and illegal blows that caused a cut. So as far as MILLIONS of fans are concerned, VK is still undefeated. And he’s only lost a small handful of rounds throughout his entire career. Now how many ATG HWs can say these things???

Those same things can’t be said about Ali, Louis, Holmes, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson and Lewis, etc.

Barley was a beast of a man. He would’ve beat em all if he kept his head on and trained right. He smashed Hearns, Van Horn and Olajide, got robbed against Nunn and Duran, cheated by Benn. He would’ve poleaxed that fat toad Toney too had he been in shape. He should’ve beat the brakes off him at a canter but he couldn’t even be bothered to train a lick for him. They would’ve had to carry Leonard out on a stretcher if he would’ve went anywhere near a prime Barkley. No problem. Two, three rounds tops.

However, I must confess that knowing that you’re the best in the business and are idolized by legion upon legion of adoring fans can become a little tedious on occasion. TARK – what is your source for saying Vitali was given a cream to rub in? I`ve looked around before and the information on the net is vague and contradictory. It isn`t even clear if he was found positive for corticosteroids or anabolic.

The cream would seem very unlikely since the purpose of a topical corticosteroid cream is for the treatment of skin disorders, rashes and the like. Topically applied cream simply would never penetrate to the area of injury.

A far more likely explanation would be that he had a corticosteroid injection, which is something needle happy doctors give quite regularly to reduce inflammation in soft tissue injuries.

Vitali and Wladimir Klitorisko are two products from the former Soviet Empire during the cold war.
During the cold war, the “devil empire” formally known as Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик, Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik, or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, used sport, and the olympics in particular, for communist propaganda.

Behind the “Iron Curtain”, kids were taken from their parents and subjected to one of the most diabolical training regime ever conceived by mankind.
Besides the fiendish training program, young athletes were used as guineapigs to test anabolic steroids, growth hormones.
– Martina Navratilova, who dominated female tennis for years was as muscular as Mike Tyson.
Here are the phenotypic traits of Wladimir and Vitali genitors:

Dad: 5’9
Mom: 5’4
Paternal grand Dad: 5’7
Maternal Grand dad: 5’5
Paternal Grand Mom: 5’5
Maternal Grand Mom: 5’4

Which of the laws of Mendel can explain that two generations later, the offsprings are 6’7 and weigh 250 lbs?
Heterosis?
Nope! The parents came from the same narrow-base genetic pool….
Which of the biological laws would explain that these two lab-fabrications would gain muscle mass as they aged?

Ever since Vitali Klitorisko was busted in 1996, expelled by his own country, the two brothers have systematically turned down random blood testings!
Need I say, it is Random Blood testing that caught the “Bio-Terminator” known as Vitali Klitorisko?
How coincidental is that the two soviet guinea pigs would end up graduating in “Physical education” , with a Soviet-style PhD?

The Klitorisko read ESB, we know that…
Can they agree for Random blood testing?

( Les Deux freres Clitoris(ko) sont deux purs produits de l’empire du Diable durant la guerre froide)

No, Roy got busted with Androstenedione in his system after a major title fight. “Ephedrine” is what truck drivers take to stay awake all night during 10-12 hour long hauls.

In 1997, the International Olympic Committee banned Androstenedione and placed it under the category of “Androgenic-Anabolic Steroids.”

Androstenedione is also banned by the NFL, MLB, USOC, NBA, and the NCA. And for good reason.

Supreme moron answer this:
1. The quantum yield for inactivation of the TI bacteriophage at 260 nm is F= 3x 10^(-4). If the molecular mass of this species is M = 10^(7)g, please estimate the target cross section of the phage at which absorption of the quantum has a lethal effect.

2. Scrapie is a neurological disease of sheep that appears to be caused by an infectious agent smaller than a typical virus.By irradication with nearly monochromatic ultra-violet light, the action spectrum for inactivation of the scrapie agent was measured. The peak in this action spectrum does not coincide with that for inactivation of typical RNA or DNA viruses. Please discuss the interpretation of this action spectrum and its significance for the understanding of the nature of the scrapie agent.

For horse hemoglobin in water solution at 20 degrees centigrade, D= 6.3 x 10^(-7) cm^(2) . s^(-1), s= 4.41 X 10^(-13)s , v= 0.749 cm^(3) . g^(-1) ,
? = 0.9982 g.cm^(-3) . Please calculate the molecular weight.

So basically his excuse for not fighting is because he is trying to force the WBC to enforece there mandatory rule while the real champ in Wlad is fighting other fighters defending his belt. So while he waits he is not making any money. I don’t think Vitali is broke so he doesn’t care if he fights. Your goal should be moving up the Ring Ratings and forget about the titles.

Posted August 14, 2013 11:57 am

Mr Gav

This is BS. Stiverne has worked hard and earned the right to be number one contender. Vitali has been out the ring on his own accord without intention to defend his title then gets injured. Any other champ would have been stripped of his title. This is not good for his legacy. Stivetene may never be an all time great but he is the number one challenger for the title guys like charr and chisora did nothing to earn there shot, this is why people say the Klitschko’s are frauds for picking easy fights against poor competion. I believe vital I would beat stiverne but that’s not the point the point is if your not going too or cannot defend your tittle then you should not be a world champion and let other fighters get their chance no matter who you are.

It’s clear that injury or no injury Vitali is more interested in his political career, fighting only once a year as a champion IS bad for boxing…..you can’t have a part-time champion.
Stiverne is absolutely right to be furious, he earnt the mandatory months ago, and a fight date should have been made long ago by Vitali.
If Vitali has any honor then he should put his gloves up and announce his retirement that most have seen coming for some time.
I think Stiverne should be installed as interim champion and then the next mandatory challenger fights Stiverne.

The WBC will let Vitali hold the belt as long as he wants because when he does fight he will generate more money than Stiverne and can collect more sanctioning fees. They have never followed there own rules unless it led to more money for them.

Where are you hiding at, boy?
Where is your theory about the link between PEDs and injuries?
Your theory is only applicable to a certain group of fighters?
Vitali Klitsko is a convicted, formerly banned PED user!
He was convicted in 1996, expelled from the Ukrainian Olympic team and banned from participating at the 1996 Olympics.
Vitali was caught by the Olympic style random blood testing.
Since then the Klitorisko brothers have avoided random blood testing like a plague!

In other words, Vitali Klitorisko is a ConBoxer!

Yes, it is time Stiverne gets his shot. By the WBC’s own rules and eliminators, he has earned it. V. Klitschko should retire on top. He has had a great run, but, clearly is not the fighter he once was and the nagging injuries that he suffers will just get worse. Already his power and defences have suffered. If politics are his new passion, then it is time to move on. One cannot dabble in boxing.
Meanwhile, what is David Price doing? At his age, he needs to get back at it and be active. Even if he knocks over a few easy marks, he can, at least, work on some things and make some money. Gathering rust won’t help anything.

I agree here. I have also have my doubts on WBC. I mean its true that they have stripped off Timothy Bradly and Andre Ward there WBC world titles but Vitalki Klitschko, when he is hurt or injured gets all the time in the world when it happens and this is the 2nd time in that mans career WBC grants him so much time. Back in 2004-2005 they did “the favour” again for him when Hasim “The Rock” Rahman was the mandatory challanger to the title after knocked out Kali Meehan in there 2004 world heavyweight title eleminator bout. What happend then? Rahman had to put out with 3 postponed fight dates until he became Interim WBC world title holder in 2005, WBC did something (!) and then instead of stripping Vitali off his title due to fail of representating the title belt in the ring, they made Vitali “WBC Emeritus Champion” (?) and I can’t say to this day what the heck that is and few fighters have got that status anyway so whats up with that? I say Vitali is 42, his boy is in great shape for an 40+ athlete BUT this is not the first time he is ijured and a fight have to be postponed and he is involved in the politics now so he can’t be dedicated full hearted to represent both is duties as champion and title defender at same time he haves to deal with politic issues in homeland of Ukraine so I say retire, let your brother Wladimir Klitschko represent the family name and world titles in the ring and make an politic career. End of story and boxing needs more world title fights on the role and Vitali is no Bernard Hopkins, George Foreman or Oscar De La Hoya character so let it be.

Vitali has no business in the ring anymore. He’s a politician and will even be running for president. I think he’d still beat Stiverne but his mind is elsewhere at the moment. I hope he does the honourable thing and vacates his title.

Re. Lennox Lewis v Vitali Klitschko. Lewis won fair and square because he cut Vitali very badly. Cuts end fights all the time. Having said that, Lewis was coming to the end of his days at 37/38 and knew Vitali would be a big threat in any rematch. It was Vitali’s time. The Klitschkos have been good champs as far as I’m concerned.

Posted August 14, 2013 5:31 am

I like Vitali, but he should either be stripped or Stiverne should have a chance to fight for the Interim title in the meantime. Then in due course, if Vitali is not ready by, say, next spring, the winner of the interim bout be awarded the WBC belt proper. Not a big fan of interim titles usually, but in this case, the WBC + the HW title especially is a little different in fight fans eyes. Feel a bit sorry for Stiverne in this instance. I still think a healthy, sharp Vitali beats him, but Vitali is getting old and hasn’t fought for nearly a year already. Looks like Vitali may be getting preferential treatment from the WBC and that wouldn’t be right.

Lol stiverne has no say in anything he should stfu… Vitali will beat his ass at 50 just like he can beat Lewis as at 80 lol… Lmao he retired Lewis!!! Hahahahaha

RUFFKNIGHT

When Vitali was getting injuries back in 2004 he quit for 4 years, so I think he may decide to retire once again. But I don’t know about how bad his current injury is and he may not if the WBC lets him recuperate from it. Maybe Stiverne will fight someone for the “interim Title” until then and Vit will be the Champion Emeterius” (SP.). I think Kostya had something like that. Another one is Ward, he last fought on the same day that Vit last fought.

It`s fairly easy to go on youtube and find slow mo footage of the punch repeated again and again.

It landed at the extension of Lewis arm so it wasn`t entirely straight, there was some lateral movement that sliced the thumbside of the glove across a little – though still the scoring zone.

FOllowing that Vitali clinches and Lewis keeps punching and pushing Vitali to make room for himself – as you do if you think the guy is hurt, and some of that can be taken as raking if you are so inclined.

The blood is clearly evident when they are then parted.

For me, if someone wants to say the cut was caused illegally, they need to present something solid to show the cut wasn`t caused by the first right hand – and that hasn`t been forthcoming in what 10 years.

Vitaly retired Lewis. Hell even LĹ wife would aknowlege that, which tells a lot how much mancrush some here have on Lewis. He was a great champ but has been dethroned by the then younger lion. Now I think it´s time for Vitaly to call it an end. He also had a great run but time waits for no man. Beside it might allow for an unification bout. Would be great to have an undisputed, unified champ again. Something tells me some here might not like his skin color…

V. Klit needs to be stripped. Stiverne has been his mandatory for 2 years now! Stiverne is a legit number#1 contender who is young and hunger with power and good skills something Klit dosent want to deal with. On another note the worse version of Lewis beat a prime klit and made him look like the elephant man. Case dismissed. Also… Stiverne needs to be granted the title.

Vitali was spent also. The resident nuthuggers make it sound like Lennox had no chance, yet Klit was taking some big shots. The Klits have dominated a line of absolute nobodies for the last decade. Vitaly should run, his time is over. I could see Charr was able to reach him every time. Vitaly lost his ability to react fast. Stiverne will kill him. He was able to hold a punch from Arreola, he had stamina and KO punch. Vitaly never had a KO punch, but good reach, stamina, chin, and great reflection. I beleive this time he might use only good chin.

i love vitali but i think he loses if he fights stiverne. i think he and his team are aware of that too. A few years ago it might have been different but he is definately on the slide and stiverne is one bad S.O.B. I see stiverne as the successor to the heavyweight crown, hes got it all going on and will be very hard to beat in years to come

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Clearly, this is the WBC’s official decision — not Vitali Klitschkos. So Team Stiverne’s headline claiming that VK is holding the belt hostage is totally inaccurate. If they want to accuse someone of holding the belt hostage, they should accuse the WBC.

VK is currently out with a legitimate hand injury and it takes a little longer to heal when you’re 42-years-old. But I have no doubt that he’ll still outbox and smash this Hatian fat-boy Stiverne — even in 2014 when he’s older.

By Team Stivern’s logic, Team 3G should be accusing Sergio Martinez — not the WBC and Ring — of holding his Lineal Title hostage because he’s out with an injury and is delaying the fight. But it looks like they may have a little more class and respect than to resort to making belligerent accusations like that.

Lewis went over 2 years without defending his title. I remember how disappointed I was…….WBC did nothing to Lewis……..

Vitali made Lewis retire. Lewis had a badly broken nose. Vitali staggered Lewis, but Lewis could not stagger Vitali. Vitali had plenty of stamina, always has. Lewis was out of gas. Lewis’ promoter signaled Lewis’doctor to signal Lewis’ referee to stop the fight to save Lewis from getting knocked out. Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the very next round. Lewis refused to rematch Vitali because he was afraid he would lose, actually knew he would lose. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Max Kellerman said that he had never seen Lewis flop down on his stool like he did that night, Lewis was holding on to Vitali to stay up. I know the reason so many hate Vitali, I know the “REAL” reason. Stiverne wants the WBC to give him the title without fighting Vitali, I don’t blame him, Vitali will knock him out……….Even Arreola had Stiverne hurt on the rope in the 8th round, but did not have the stamina to finish him. Stiverne does not want to fight Vitali if he can get the title free instead. By the way, how in the Hell did Wilder get ranked without fighting anyone in the top30 100? Ahhhhh, but that’s alright, now isn’t it.

@Lenin, I like the idea of Wlad holding all the belts – I think he is the only guy worthy of a belt in the division at the moment.

BUT the WBC don`t let their champs have multiple belts any more apparently – see the ultimatums that Suilaman was giving people in the lower weights when they unified a WBC with something else.

Vitali, it’s time to hang them up. There’s nothing left to prove, and you’re getting old. Still great, but with father age on your back and ringrust from a loooong layoff, it’s really time to call it a day. You’re brother will unite the belts, and then it’ll be the world vs. Vladimir.

Jose Suilaman: Vitali, I’ve been thinking we might have to strip you.

Vitali: I know, I can see your erection.

BLUESMAN

As for the Lewis-Klitschko fight, Vitali’s cut was caused by multiple punches from Lewis, requiring 63 stitches to close it. On top of that, Lewis was landing his deadly right uppercut at will, violently snapping Vitali’s head back. Vitali was tiring at the time and it looked like Lewis was well on his way to knocking Vitali out, even though Vitali was ahead on the scorecards. They both fought a GREAT fight and it’s a SHAME that there wasn’t a rematch between them. But the fact is, Lewis won, fair and square.

Posted August 14, 2013 12:03 am

Lewis could’ve KILLED McCall in their 2nd fight. The only reason he didn’t is because he’s a good guy and he didn’t want to hurt him too bad.

Lewis slugged Vitali’s face right off.

Check out rule 19.2.1 (b) of the Queensbury Rules of boxing it states:

At the start of a round, the boxer must be ready to defend himself in the opinion of the referee, and the boxer must also have a face.

So there is no controversy there. Vitali just needed to do better at not being defaced. He is like the N144 nightbus in that respect.

Vitaly has been great champ, but if you are not going to fight than you have to step aside. No exceptions.. Vitaly should be the mandatory for the new champ if he returns.. but in all honesty its time for the champ to call it a day…

Don’t hold the title hostage.. you are not adding to your legacy by adding months to your reign….

Thanks for the memories Vitaly, but its time to pass the torch…

He didn’t make McCall cry. Oliver was taken out of drug rehab and put in the ring with LL. When have you ever seen McCall or any other fighter act like that?
Don King gave McCall to LL on a silver platter and Lennox naever really did prove that he could beat Oliver when he’s right. I think that’s the only “KO” on McCall’s record too. Some of you guys like hto remake history to fit your own desires.

Lewis lost 2, but won the returns.

Lewis made McCall cry, Klitschko was as tired as Lewis, he won the fight against Klitschko and avenged both of his losses, facts, Klitschko went on to beat everyone easy, except for the Chisora fight.

Posted August 13, 2013 9:24 pm

He was not ready to be stopped except due to the cut, the size of the cut from a questionable source. The bout goes down in history as only a controversial win for LL, as does his second bout with McCall.

Vitali Klitschko was ready to be stopped, watch the end of the 6th round, he had gassed., anyway don’t disrespect Lewis, he was trading punches with Klitschko, that was a great fight.

Lennox Lewis beat Vitali Klitschko, took his bombs, Lewis was under trained and yet Vitali Klitschko was in the fight of his career, he has beat everyone since without too much trouble.

This isn’t really doing much for Vitali’s legacy.
Good calibered heavyweights should go out on a high as opposed to avoiding mandatories, taking relatively undeserving green challengers, pulling out due to “so-called” injuries and using politics as a partial excuse.
Fair enough decorated fighters such as Vitali who have been through a number of wars and proven to be deserving of the WBC belt (which at one point was a prestigious and respected organisation) can more or less choose how to walk off into the sunset, but surely this isn’t the way. WBC showing favouritism like usual and that they can simply make the rules as they go, after all Vitali has proven to be a good source of constant income for the WBC.
