That wasn’t my analysis Supreme Court…
Kovalev is a boxer-puncher… He sets up his big shots beautifully. He defends well. He’s just a very gifted boxer who is also a gifted puncher.
Hopkins is an ATG. Maybe B-Hop is the greatest middlewweight boxer of all time.
He still doesn’t have a prayer of beating Kovalev.Posted August 19, 2013 1:03 pm
Nope. Whoever knows that Kovalev ducked Hopkins is VERY informed. The FACT is that Hopkins CLEARLY SAID that he was willing to face Kovalev before Kovalev ever signed any Fight. You can fool those who don’t follow Boxing or have the memory of a Alzeimers Patient but you can’t fool ME. My memory is GREAT. I’m not saying that Kovalev isn’t the BETTER Fighter at THIS time….obviously because I’m the First to put him in my Top 10 P4P list…but I’m stating the FACT that Kovalev had the opportunity to face the living legend and chose not to. I actually say smart move by him but he still ducked.Posted August 19, 2013 5:04 am
PEEJ – Hopkins vs. Murat was a done deal. Then it suddenly fell apart over visa issues. Then Kovalev was bumped up from #2 to #1. Kovalev had been considering an offer to fight Cleverly. Murat’s visa issues then suddenly cleared up. Then he was either re-instated or was rumored to be re-instated as the #1 contender. Rather than wait for that situation to clear itself up, Kovlev said F it and accepted a championship fight on HBO w/ Cleverly.
And while it was for less money than a proposed Hopkins bout, at least he had a scheduled fight set in stone rather than having to wait for the sanctioning body to sort their BS ranking system. Obviously he made the right choice. Anyone who says Kovalev was “ducking” Bernard is I’ll-informed.Posted August 19, 2013 3:31 am
No Hopkin’s boss backed out but Hopkins started to spout about him being the old fox looking for hens like Murat but kovalev will make him eat sourpuss kroutPosted August 19, 2013 3:18 am
Nope. Watch more Boxing. Kovalev ducked Hopkins. IF it were Floyd doing the ducking the boards would be filled making the site shut down from the overload. But since Kovalev DID the ducking it slides by.Posted August 19, 2013 2:39 am
Dang that video has Bernard looking irately defensive over such a prestigious belt and mandatory challenge
Probably because he ducked his real #1 mandatory–KovalevPosted August 18, 2013 8:55 pm
Kovalev WON by Welshman WILTING stoppage as I CORRECTLY called!!!! CORRECTAMUNDO is almost as GREAT as Boxtradamus!!!Posted August 18, 2013 8:54 pm

Wasn’t Kovalev the mandatory to Hopkins but instead chose to challenge Cleverly? That is why Hopkins is fighting the guy he is fighting now? Just wondering.Posted August 18, 2013 10:57 am
vince clev is one of the best trainers of all time.Posted August 18, 2013 9:32 am
about *staying* undefeated, evenPosted August 18, 2013 8:43 am
I think the only fighter who has a serious chance of beating Kovalev is Ward (and I say this as someone who is not at all a fan of Ward).
I can’t believe Hopkins will ever fight Kovalev, because he won’t want to end his career getting KO’d by a “white boy” (which is, I think, what would happen: after all, he was put down several times by Pascal, who had just come up from 168 and had lost to Froch).
Dawson, Stevenson and Cloud would also meet the same fate as Cleverly and the rest, being KO’d in the early rounds.
Froch against Kovalev would be a definite FoTY, I think, but Froch has never shown any interest in moving up, and makes 168 easily, so I doubt he’ll move up. Kovalev moving down to face Froch might be possible, but I doubt it, since Froch willprobably retire my the time Kovalev has cleaned out the 175 division.
So that just leaves Ward. But will he ever fight Kovalev? Sadly, I seriously doubt it, because like Mayweather, he’s too concerned about sating undefeated. If he had any balls he’d fight Froch in Nottingham, but he hasn’t, so he won’t.Posted August 18, 2013 8:41 am
slappy joe calslappy should lace um up at 175 an stage a comeback 1st beat soggy than challenge kovalev after all calslappy sez kovalev is just another version of left hook laceyPosted August 18, 2013 8:03 am
IF BOB FOSTER HAD HIT CLEVERLY HE WOULD STILL BE ASLEEP.Posted August 18, 2013 7:58 am

even the great roy jones in his prime at 175 would be Knocked cold by kovalevPosted August 18, 2013 6:49 am
calslappy fans always bring up that fat boy from florida , but even before he fought calslappy, he had not fought a top fighter, the only 2 top names on calslappy`s record are old men Jones(knocked cold 2 times before fighting calslappy) and old man Hopkins. Both these old men put him on his but hard, and in the case of Hopkins, Bernard was robbed blind.Posted August 18, 2013 6:48 am

WHATS HAPPEND TO ALL THE CLEV FANS TODAY.Posted August 18, 2013 6:17 am
Correct. But he calls himself welsh and wore the welsh flag. If we realy wanna be technical we could say americans arnt technically americanPosted August 18, 2013 5:19 am
Technically, Calzaghe is English- Italian (English mother-italian father, born in Hammersmith, London) but raised from a young age in Wales.Posted August 18, 2013 5:15 am
I said Cleverly didn’t have the speed or power of JC and thought Kovalev was way better boxer than people were thinking.
Hopkins isnt going to touch Kovalev.
Since Kovalex will travel maybe he goes over to Germany and KO’s
I like Stevenson.
MAYBE we can get WARD to move up and fight at 175?
Zenon…….. Calzaghe is from Wales not England. Anyway Kovalev made a beleiver of me last night. I knew he had crazy power but he boxes much better than i thought tooPosted August 18, 2013 1:47 am
Big joe turner
Two beasts, two avoided fighters, can anyone say Golovkin v Kovalev @ 168?Posted August 18, 2013 12:01 am
As far as I jnow Cal is retired?? Unless I am mistaken, my man Stevenson will ko Cloud then KO Bellew then we talk, stop living in the past with Cal who avoided everyone and stayed in good old England!Posted August 17, 2013 10:50 pm
Anyone really thought Cleverly was going to win? Anyone really thought he was gonna ko Kovalev? Anyone really thought that he was not to get KO? Come On!!Posted August 17, 2013 10:47 pm
You guessed right I guessed wrong = you were right and I was wrong
You are however still a chump :)Posted August 17, 2013 10:39 pm
Cleverly fought like a challenger..Not a CHAMP , he fought scared no game plan either ..Did you see Kov as soon as the jab landed he threw 2/3s to the body and head .. He threw punches around the guard of Cleverly ..How many right hands or combination punches did Nathan throw …?Posted August 17, 2013 10:31 pm
This is crap! Cleverly didn’t fight back! Get rid of Jackson bring in Lowe! Something is rotten in Denmark!Posted August 17, 2013 10:20 pm
Who can Kill Kovalev – Quick answer is NO ONE. Long answer is Stephenson would have a punchers chance as he hits hard but doesn’t have the skills of Kovalev. There are no Prime RJJ type LHW at the moment so no one currently has the movement to bother Kovalev. Kovalev dominates for a while now and should be looking to unify immediately.Posted August 17, 2013 9:33 pm
Who Can Kill Kovalev?
@What!?! … So in your opinion who can beat Kovalev? imagine if Golovkin was a light heavyweight; what a crazy fight it would be!Posted August 17, 2013 9:27 pm
Gutted clev lost but kovalev has some serious power and clev goading kovalev to hit him harder was a bad move and made him look silly showboating before he was seriously knocked out!! im a welshman and gutted but clev took this fight with no experience against any top fighters and his lack of fighting activity showed but how can you train to take shots that he took ? Glad enzo won he showed massive heart as did ovill and one shot was always gonna end it! honestly didnt think it was gonna come from enzo!! Glad it did though!!
“but how can you train to take shots that he took ?” You dont train to take shots to the head ..That aint what the sweet science is about IS IT NOW ….You can train the body too take shots , as you put it and you can develop an ability to maintain your homeostasis while under fire ,though WHISKERS JAWS BEARDS are born not made …And even in saying , that there are fighters that you just don’t want to let them get in to range to hit you with more then one punch ……If at all ….I have a feeling that Cleverly could see the writing on the wall, and let his ego do the talking instead of his common sense ( if he has any)Nathan should have played a smarter game …Boxing Kovalev keeping him off balance and from loading up on his punches ..Back to the drawing board maybe ……..I would say leaving the UK finding a corner to hide in and relearn some skills based on movement and the sweet science ..ANd learn how to prepare and fight with no emotional content …………Posted August 17, 2013 9:25 pm
Calzaghe had a KO record of 22 out of 24 fights before his hands become brittle. He hits hard enough. However, he is over 40, and a long time out of the ring, he has done enough. And in prime he destroys ward!Posted August 17, 2013 9:14 pm
Now where are all those posters that personally insulted me while I gave a harsh but realistic insight to the outcome of this fight and their former paper champ Cleverly? Where are you all? I kinow that not one of you will be man enough to apologise but a self admission that Cleverly is a D grader or was not in Kovalevs league will suffice. I’m sure you all feel embarrassed but I can understand deluded one eyed patriotism. So where are you all?Posted August 17, 2013 9:06 pm
And someone should make some t-shirts with “Who can kill Kovalev?” on itPosted August 17, 2013 9:02 pm
Calzaghe 46-0 with 32 kos has nothing to prove and went out fighting two legends in the good ol usa! he doesnt have to come out of retirement to take shots from an up and coming massive puncher that is kovalev. hes cemented his HOF position and your always gonna get doubters but who else can boast a perfect record unify the super middle weight division and walk away from a man who has practically broken kelly pavlik, and has no quarrels fighting up and coming fighters and coming out smelling of roses 85 percent of the time? and still ring magazine champ?? for now anywaysPosted August 17, 2013 9:00 pm
Kovalev/Stevenson next, nothing more, two hard hitting punchers and two beasts; Kovalev by …. early KO!Posted August 17, 2013 8:58 pm
I think Calzaghe would of beat Kovalev, to many fast punches, Kovalev would of not been able to set his punches up and he would be getting softened up with them, Kovalev wouldn’t know what to do, he would get countered all night, then stopped.Posted August 17, 2013 8:46 pm
Calzaghe does not punch hard enough to ward off the attack of Kovalev.Posted August 17, 2013 8:38 pm
