Joseph Herron:

I meant to call into you last show, but missed it. I’m also a fan of stand-up comedy and appreciate people who can do good impressions of famous people. So would like to hear your impression of Teddy Atlas, Emanuel Steward, Floyd Sr., FMJ and the classy Jimmy Lennon Jr.

Do you have schedule for upcoming shows? If not, do you by chance know the date and time of your next show??? Thanks mano!

Joseph Herron

When I was younger, I used to be able to impersonate everyone on the HBO broadcast. Now that mhy voice has gotten older, my vault is a little more limited.

I can do Jimmy Lennon, Jr, and often do his ring introductions when I work club shows as a ring announcer.

I can also immitate Lupe Contreras, which is a lot of fun to do.

I do Teddy Atlas from time to time on the broadcast and also do a mean immitation of our producer James King…he hates it though…lol

I do a mean Teddy Atlas, Emanuel Steward, and Floyd Sr. as well…lol

Maybe I’ll start to do my “Teddy’s Fight Predictions” skit once again…who knows?

But thanks for listening, brother!!

Joseph, that was a great Floyd impression. And a thoroughly enjoyable show, too.

I think it’s just pre fight mind games on the part of both camps, Ray.

But, you never know…boxing is a very small circle.

Hi everyone, just found this on an article and wanted to ask and see how much of this do you all think is true??:——–>

“Floyd Mayweather Sr. isn’t particularly concerned about the rumors. Matter of fact, he doesn’t even find them credible. That’s because Sr. might actually have a SPY embedded in Alvarez’s camp.

“It’s a bunch of BS,” Floyd Sr. declared to Chris Robinson. “That’s all it is, a bunch of BS. … I’m getting knowledge myself of what’s going on. I’m getting a whole bunch of knowledge about what’s going on. He tells his trainers what to do and his weight is still way up there. Like I said, none of that stuff is true they’re talking about.”

Mares not only remains a top-10 featherweight but a top-5. i can’t name 4 other feathers who would certainly defeat him and that includes Gonzalez. i did favor Mares to prevail over a snakebit Gonzalez but i did not make the mistake of counting Gonzalez out. he’s always been a dark-horse favorite of mine, despite rumbling below the radar of most pundits. meanwhile, Mares is beatable but when a fighter can’t outlast or figure him out, he becomes unbeatable. in fact, he has yet to be beat up for a loss. i absolutely love his post-fight comment about not getting into the sport to remain undefeated but to fight the best. That’s Integrity. it’s the equivalent of a politician asserting that he seeks election to serve not to be re-elected in perpetuity. Mares (and Gonzalez) is the truth in more ways than your average fan or pundit realizes.

Joseph Herron

Thanks for reading the articles, Squared Circle!!

I’ve been writing on ESB for a while…I want to say about four years now. I left ESB for about a year and took on the Asst Ed job at FightSaga.com.

But, aside from the work I did at fightsaga, I’ve been loyal to ESB…I’ve always loved the freedom I get from the guys here at ESB.

They let me write about anything I want.

You can listen to the show anytime with the embedded player on ESB.

If you can, please let me know what you think of my Floyd Jr. impression at the 49:30 mark during my interview with Ronnie Shields.

Thanks, brother!!

Joseph Herron: I’ve enjoyed reading most of your articles on ESB. Keep up the good work! And the truth is that I almost never compliment any of the writers on this website.

One of these nights I’m going to call in and listen to your show. How long have you been getting your articles published on ESB, if you don’t mind me asking?

All said & done Rigo’s #1 @ 122Lb & shall remain so until beaten! The WBA have gifted Scott Quigg with a bangle that means bugger all & santa Cruz’s WBC title means nothing until a unification with the true World champion(RIGO) can be made. Carl Frampton could entre the equation if Barry McGwiggle can let him off the leash, but until then Rigo remains The World’s #1 @ Super – bantamweight!!….

2013 has been a GREAT YEAR for the sweet science! And it’s only going to get better throughout the next four months before the end of December.

I have a gut feeling that Sept. 14th is going to be one of those legendary nights for boxing. Don’t miss it — even if you gotta cough up the deniro!

We will if the major networks finally get smart and develop their own titles for each weight division.

Most fighters care more about appearances on HBO or Showtime thann winning a world title these days. So the networks might as well start making their own world titles and the rest of the boxing world would simply fall in line.

What’s not to like, RayGordonReid?

Featherweights, Super Featherweights, and Lightweights always fight in a muchmore feverish pace than the big men of boxing but can still deliver that always captivating one punch KO.

God Bless the little men of boxing!!

I just hope the networks realize this and start showcasing them a lot more on the biggest stages of boxing.

Anonymou$,

foolish? Please explain? Foolish that there is no end to the debate?

I’ve already explained why I’ve thrown down the gauntlet, and I think it successfully served its purpose.

I don’t think anyone is going to hear anything more about it from this point forward.

It’s Me, Ernie

Tark is a side-buster, no way he will ever try to match wits with you in a live format…

Posted August 26, 2013 12:03 pm

Joseph Herron

Every week I invite TARK to call into the show to conduct a respctable and insightful debate on any topic of his choosing.

I don’t think has any intention of ever taking me up on my offer.

I don’t know why? I never treat any of my guests with disrespect or malice. Anyone who listens to the show knows this.

I also don’t expect TARK to take me up on my article challenge. For the simple fact that it is much harder than he realizes. It’s very easy to criticize someone elses work after they’ve already given their opinions before the action takes place.

Again, guys…these challenges aren’t meant to belittle anyone, but merely gain the respect of people like TARK who think that my job is an easy one and that anyone can do it.

A lot of boxing pundits try to start their own show, but find that it’s very difficult to deliver their message in an entertaining manner.

it takes a lot of work and energy….a lot of preparation and focus.

Joseph Herron

Right on, De Lima I,

A couple of reasons why I favored Thompson going into the bout:

1) No one besides Wlad had ever kept Thompson at a safe distance throughout the entire fight.

2) We had never seen Pulev against a proficient inside fighting Heavyweight like Tony Thompson, and we really didn’t know how Pulev was going to handle that kind of pressure.

But he showed that he has the mental and physical durability to tangle with any Heavyweight at the top level.

Kubrat Pulev is the stuff!!

Posted August 26, 2013 11:10 am

de Lima I.

Joseph — Now I agree with you.

Sure, KP’s not in the same league with WK or Haye.
But his confidence and coolness in the ring is quite
impressive.

You should trust a woman’s instinct next time.
LOL

Posted August 26, 2013 11:00 am

Joseph Herron

Dre Lima I,

I stick with my commentary on Friday afternoon…I was very impressed with Pulev’s mental toughness and calm demeanor.

He proved a lot to me on Saturday.

I loved his footwork, his handspeed, and his ring IQ.

Although I don’t think we saw the best version of Tony Thompson, I wonder how much of that was due to Pulev’s footwork, handspeed, and overall confidence.

I would definitely favor him against Sasha Povetkin, as well as the majority of fighters in the division.

In fact, I think he probably gives Wladimir a much tougher test than most realize. Because of his ability to use his footwork to set traps using angles and distance, I can see him giving Wlad some problems in the early to mid rounds in their eventual showdown.

He will make Wlad do something that most don’t…Pulev would make Wlad take the lead and over commit.

I love the fight…and i am officially a believer in Kubrat Pulev

Joseph — What do you think about KP vs AP now?

Posted August 26, 2013 10:18 am

Anonymous,

Yes, I am serious…Gogue would B-slap TARK if they ever tangled on-air.

Very few knowledgeable trainers, fighters, and promoters hve a better comprehensive knowledge of the sport.

Not only is he brilliant at breaking down and teachin the sweet science, but he is also very intelligent in the areas of management, promotion, and matchmaking.
