I don’t know fellas. I respect and can understand the Boytsov detractors but I have seen something in him. If it’s still there, and IF he is willing to progress I think he would no doubt prove himself.

If Dennis Boytsov was a chareholding company, then now his stocks would fall down big time. Seriusly he chikend out of fighting Dereck Chisora 17-4-0 KO’s 11), he did it and I like many people wanted to belive he would face Chisora in the ring but what a let down and I should not be suprised. Werll he lost lot of respect now from many people. So now we will see the former world heavyweight title challanger and ex Brittish heavyweightr champion Dereck Chisora fight for the vacant European heavyweight crown against the 25 year young German heavyweight hope Edmund Gerber (25-1-0 KO’s 14). Gerber’s best known fight so far in his career is a MD loss to the seasond veteran and former Commonwealth and Brittish heavyweight champion Michael Sprott from December 15, last year, so Gerber is very untested on top level and is not known for having loads of punchpower so I would bet a couple of dollars on the more expearened Dereck Chisora to Knock-Out Edmund Gerber in middle rounds and conqer the European heavyweight title. But again, what a disspapointment that Dennis Boytsov ran from fighting Dereck Chisora on September 21, sad becouse that would have been a great fight. (Need to fight an “Interim challanger” before fighting Chisora) that was the Russian’s words and we all think – Chicken. If you don’t dare fighting Chisora, then you won’t dare fighting any thretning opponent in the top.

KL. I doubt he’s afraid of Chisora. Though I wouldn’t say he’s not afraid of a mistake for his career. Maybe getting a fight just to get the atmosphere and things going fresh before Chisora is needed for him personally, I don’t know bro.

Chisora VS Price is a match made in heaven after this one & needs to be made before the BBBof C strip DP of his title for not defending!

Edit to my last comment: I forgot to add David Haye to the list of fighters that were brave enough to take on Chisora without having a “tune up” fight before hand!

Posted August 31, 2013 4:19 pm

KL

Dionysus, I am not denying that Chisora is a tough dude…….albeit with limited boxing skills, but you have to ask yourself why Bostov, incidentally ranked no.2 by the EBU and higher ranked than Chisora no.6 and with more wins than Chisora has had that he needs a tune up for a lower ranked fighter?
Which other boxer gave Chisora so much respect that they felt they needed a “tune up ” fight before hand?
Fury,Helenius,Vitali,Scott never felt they needed a “tune up fight”….. hell not even journey men Remigijus Ziausys & Hector Alfredo Avila felt they needed a “tune up” fight before they met Chisora.
Do you think lowly ranked Edmund Gerber would feel he needs a “tune up” fight before he meets Chisora…………or is it just Boystov that fears Chisora so much that he needs a tune up!

Posted August 31, 2013 4:18 pm

KL

John, Boystov says he needs an “interim fight” before facing Chisora.

Posted August 31, 2013 4:07 pm

John Digby

Is Chisora fighting Boytsov and Gerber on the same night?

Posted August 31, 2013 4:00 pm

Dionysus

KL, anyone who can stand in front of VK for 12 rounds after he slapped him in the face in the weigh in and then spit water in Wlad’s face after the fight would have my respect too. Clearly he’s not a bum. Overlooking him would be a mistake. Boytsov can’t afford a mistake.

Posted August 31, 2013 3:52 pm

KL

Dionysus, If Boystov feels he needs a tune up before facing Chisora, there’s not much hope for Boystov!

Posted August 31, 2013 3:41 pm

Dionysus

@Rod, I agree with you about Chisora willing to shred with anyone. He’s not afraid of anyone. But Boytsov has had a couple tough lucks that were disappointing setbacks for him. And after such time out and issues with promoters and hands, he should well tune up before getting in with a gritty banger like Chisora. But, we’ll see I’m sure. I hope he can actually stay busy now.

Posted August 31, 2013 3:24 pm

KL

Dwc , Rod et al, the fact that Boystov last time out took on a 10 fight novice with only a 30% KO ration says everything about Boystov.
When team Boystov pulled out of the Fury bout, many but the blame on Boystov’s management team rather than Boystov himself, but now Boystov himself says he’s not ready to face Chisora……that kinda indicates to me that Boystov himself IS the main problem…….NOT his management.

Cant belive Botstov,this tells alot about his heart.Maybe he needs a tune-up,for a tune-up,for a tune-up,for a tune-up…then he will be ready for a 5-18 fighter…

Posted August 31, 2013 2:07 pm

Boytsov is a coward. He does not want to fight anyone good. At least Chisora will take on anyone as will old Thompson. A matchup between Boytsov and Chisora would have been awesome. Boytsov needs to retire. Boxers like him are ruining the sport. Wilder is at least starting to step it up. Yes Dionysus I am saying his padded career is worse than Wilders.

Posted August 31, 2013 2:01 pm

KL

The EBU title is meaningless……… I mean how many times has Sprott fought for the EBU crown even though he has never been rated in the top 5
by the EBU. Chisora is ranked no.6 by the EBU and Gerber is ranked No.12.
How is it that The No.1 & No.2 ranked EBU fighters don’t fight for the vacant EBU crown. When Fraudley took on Sprott for the Vacant crown Fraudley was ranked No.9 and Sprott No. 8 by the EBU…….. and so Fraudley became Euro champ by beating no.8 EBU ranked fighter.
Chisora can become Euro champ by beating no.12 ranked fighter…….says it all really!

Granpa

Just the sort of opponent you need Derek.Get a another confidence building victory under your belt. Vitaly won’t dare fight you again so just keep winning and wait for an oppoptunity to present itself. Trust me aim for the money not the glory…….. and invest it wisely …………….. the career is short and the retirement long.

Posted August 31, 2013 1:44 pm

Dionysus even you have to concede that even a faded Liahkovich is a hell of a lot better calibre opponent than the 10 fight novice Oleksandr Nesterenko that Bostov last fought!

I posted this in the other thread:

Boystov says Chisora is NOT his next opponent……….claiming he needs an “interim opponent” before he faces Chisora.
I could understand if Boystov was going to face the likes of Haye or a K brother……….but you need an “interim opponent” before fighting Chisora?
Sorry Boystov despite winning all 33 of your bouts, you seem to lack any self belief or confidence……..and that seems to be your ultimate downfall.

This seems to be the second time that Frank Warren has jumped the gun in announcing Chisora’s opponent……..perhaps it’s just Warren tactic in drumming up promotion for his fighter, believing that there is no such thing as bad publicity……..after all announcing a Gerber vs Chisora was likely to go somewhat unnoticed!

Posted August 31, 2013 1:31 pm

Rod, you said Boytsov’s “padded record is worse than Wilder’s”. Absolutely untrue!

Posted August 31, 2013 11:32 am

Fcn A! Its about time! Why was the second fight with Sprott censored to the public? There is unholy alliance present! Why was the Wilder fight not pursued? What the fch happened to Boytsov? I think Chisora studies Blue Prints too much!

Bad fight, almost meaningless.

He should beat Gerber, Sprott beat Gerber once and got robbed against him just before that win, Chisora is better than Sprott so on paper he should beat him. Boystov chickens out yet again!

Gerber? What happened to that Russian guy that’s more inactive than Oleg Platov? Hurt his hands again due to a step up?

Mr Gav

Gerber is best available opponent. But chisora should stop talking about klitchow he is way down the line to face him and he needs to beat a top ten fighter even to be considered as a potential challanger

boytsov pussies out again. His padded record is worse than wilders.
