It’s Me, Ernie

What did you expect them to say that they weren’t confident and Seth was in over his head? Get a grip, and I don’t mean on the paperboy either…

Mitchell’s team is very confident… They keep saying this is a very smart matchup and Seth is ready to take the next step.

I think they’re overly ambitious and premature… but we’ll see.

TARK, you must’ve missed Mitchell’s overreaction to glancing blows by Banks in their first fight? you must’ve also missed the same lingering overreaction to the same blows in their rematch? during which it became obvious how desperate Seth was to protect his chin. Mitchell has glaring problems with his chin and jaw and Cristobal figures to place an exclamation point on that fact with not only power but skills. i wouldn’t be surprised if Mitchell is decked by the first solid jab that Arreola lands. at which point, his lack of clinching skills will only enhance Cristobal’s advantageS in virtually every other category with the possible exception of powerpunching.

Arreola will knock out Seth Mitchell in the first round.

It’s me as$hole, you are so predictable and lame, it’s painful to read you. Please, go away and die. Nobody will miss you.

Seth’s chin is his Achilles heel, doesn’t stand a chance with the big boys…

I like Arreola by stoppage … but I’m pulling for Mitchell.

I hope he’s solved some of his problems in this last training camp. He’s a very hard worker so it’s possible he’ll surprise everyone.

TARK ….WHO YOU PICKING?
I say Slim Chris takes this in round 6 if not late TKO 5th

This will be a good one. Arreola is tough and tested and wins by KO. THen on to Wilder and KO his butt too.

Seth does not have a suspect chin – banks was on a mission in their first fight and woulda ko’d
His sparring Partner Vladimir too. Seth wins this fight and knocks Arreola down a few more knotches where he belongs.

All the talk about Seth’s chin is overblown… Seth needs skills and he needs to be patient and learn by fighting. Skills are more important than your age or how many fights you had. I expect him to be better this fight with his jab and put combinations together. He needs to stay out of trouble because he doesn’t really know how to clinch.

To me, clinching is something you teach an amateur to do with minimum awkwardness before he has 15 fights. You don’t want him desperately tackling, hugging, or steer wrestling. The most unprofessional thing I can think of, is grabbing somebody around the waist, and getting punched in the ears with both hands. Referees always jump in and stop it, but they’re not supposed to.

If you have both hands free, or even one hand free—and you’re not holding—the referee is supposed let you punch away. Only when both boxers are locked up, both holding with at least one hand, or one is holding and hitting, should the referee yell stop punching and break them.

Chris all the way.

Chris wins, Wladimir is up soon. Bring WLad back to the States. Wilder is a possibility as well.

Wlad is favored against both.

flash knock down

Can we stop with all the talk about Seth chin any heavy weight that weighs 215 lbs or more can knockout anyone. I have a lot of respect for Seth. After getting knocked out by BANKS then coming back to beat Banks in his next fight out this says a lot about Seth mental approach to boxing. That being said I have been a big Arreola fan for years. This is a cross roads fight for Chris he c an not afford to lose to a football player . If Chris looses this fight he should retire or just be a steeping stone for the young guys coming up. Chris does everything better than Seth when they weigh in tomorrow we will know who is going to win for sure. I have Chris winning this fight in the third round by knockout.

TARK, broken hand v. Adamek (common knowledge) and a broken nose v. Stiverne, which is no excuse. Arreola severely underestimated Stiverne and paid the price. he’s conceded as much. nonetheless, Arreola is the last fighter to provide Vitali with an actual fight, but a 6’8″ tactician has posed unprecedented challenges for every fighter he’s ever faced including Lennox Lewis. that a loss is a loss is what’s is what’s severely compromised Arreola’s promise. a spectacular win v. Mitchell will provide a rededicated Arreola with the momentum to reverse his slide.

I think Arreola will have no problems with this guy … look for early stoppage or KO … PEACE

“First of all, you’re not a step up. You’re a step DOWN” (lol). gotta love Cristobal’s quick wit and candor. moreover, it’s True. Mitchell’s chin was exposed by Banks and he fought scared in the rematch, which he also flirted with losing. Cristobal is also smart and accurate when he positions himself as a guardian of the sport’s integrity. after all, who is Seth to consider boxing a fallback plan for his athletic ambition? “I’ve been fighting since I was seven years old . . . I’ve got 130 amateur bouts . . . I’m going to show you something on Saturday night”. that’s what i’m anticipating will happen. Mitchell doesn’t have the experience to master a Plan A and B and once Plan A begins to unravel (at about the moment that Arreola dings his chin and jaw), he’ll be careening around the ring looking for a soft spot to land on. Cristobal by KO within 8. otherwise, Arreola should follow-up on his promise to retire because in the case of a loss, he has become a gatekeeper.

Anonymou$.., He should.. If he knew what he was doing and had a great corner and better coaching.. He should be able to outbox a guy who couldn’t win a round from Vitali and couldn’t even beat Adamek … and got completely routed by Stiverne

However, like I said, he really doesn’t have the defense and clinching skills he needs to control an undisciplined swinger yet.. It would be better for him to have a few more fights.. But with the fights and experience he’s had, if he had the right coaching and training he’d be up to a fight like this by now.

Mitchell should out-box Arreola with ease… It should be a one-sided affair…Mitchell could get knocked out if he fought as lamely as he did vs Banks in their first fight.
This is heavyweight Boxing. You either learn how to clinch, which Seth still has a few problems with, as seen in Mitchell-Banks II, or you get KO’d a 2nd time. Wladimir got KO’d 3 times before he went on a 10-year undefeated run with Emmanuel Steward coaching him. Sometimes it takes more than one lesson — and some guys NEVER learn. Joe Frazier couldn’t clinch when he fought George Foreman either time. George was the only 6’3″ X 217 pound puncher Frazier ever fought so it was a brand new experience.
You fight big, tall, powerful punchers without a strong defense and they WILL smack you. You either clinch or get stopped.

Mitchell should out-box Arreola with ease… It should be a one-sided affair…???????

Seth said.., “I have speed, power and size. I’m the complete package.”

Not by a long shot…

Skills are the biggest part of a complete package. Seth admitted he got a very late start and has a lot to learn. Developing those defensive and clinching skills is where he’ll pull together the complete package eventually … That will take a few more years.

Seth said.., “I got a late start, but on the flip side I haven’t taken a lot of punches.”

Smashing into a 250lb football player with a flying tackle is worth about 52 punches to the head — and about one twentieth of a KO shot.

I felt more dinged after playing some football games than I ever felt after a boxing match.. I believe football can degrade your chin if you’re a super aggressive defensive stopper.. That is exactly who Seth Mitchell was on the gridiron. He would smash through 3 blockers to crush the ball carrier. Seth was a hitter and those head blows at that level are fierce.

I hope Seth pulls it out.. He tries so hard.. But he has to protect that chin and head. Take as few good hits as possible and don’t get greedy. Fights where both boxers have distain for each another are the best. Like The Haye-Fury fight … and this one.

i respect Mitchell’s determination to continue forward. after his shaky outings v. Banks, a lot of fighters would’ve become frightened by the revelation that they’re vulnerable to heavyweight shots and Arreola can Punch . . . A Lot. i’m also glad to hear Cristobal take pesonal responsibility for his training and preparation. accountability Counts. this is an interesting matchup. Seth has got decent power and a puncher’s chance to at-least gain some respect but Arreola seems determined to send him back to a footbal field. barring injuries, Arreola by KO. IMO, he’s absorbed harder shots than what Mitchell can deliver (excluding Sundays) and doesn’t wilt in the heat of battle like Mitchell has done in his last two fights v. what i consider to be inferior comp. once again, gotta respect Mitchell’s remaining determination to continue risking and competing.

Arreola should win this fight, he has more rounds under his belt and should take care of business. Mitchell has a suspect chin. It would be great to have a Ruddock vs Morrison type fight.

Looking forward to this fire show! Good luck to both.

Arreola is a good puncher but not a Tua like puncher. Mitchell looks a bit chinny not sure if he is chinnier than Moorer or not. This is unlikely to be a first round stoppage. Mitchell will have to get Arreolas respect early without getting hit too much. Arreola throws a lot of punches. Good fight really hard one to call.
