I am not a FMJ hater, on the contrary, I admire his skill & dedication to his craft which has put him on the top in the sport. I do however disagree on a few points with the writer. Firstly, when Floyd was slated to fight Cotto or Margarito [ unbeaten, peaking & in their primes at the time ] he subsequently retired/took a sabbatical from boxing. As we know the 2 ended up facing each other [ the immovable force vs the unstoppable object ] & beat each other senseless. Neither fighter was ever the same after that fight [ as subsequently seen by their performances afterward ] & then Floyd comes out of retirement, squeaky clean & beats a damaged Cotto. Marquez was to small, Hatton to slow & overrated, Oscar was way past his best but put up a helluva fight, Ortiz & Guerrero were way out of their depth & didn’t deserve to get a fight in the 1st place, Mosley was also way past his prime & gunshy. I think the Pac fight would have appeased detractors & Floyd, in my opinion, would have boxed his way to a points victory, but we never got to see it. Here in lies the argument, you are the best boxer in the world but hand pick opponents & not test yourself. Oscar fought Trinidad & Mosley, Hopkins wasn’t afraid to tango with Taylor, Calzaghe, Pavlic. Leonard, Hearns, Duran & Hagler all had each other & they all fought each other in their primes. This is where FMJ legacy is tainted & below the others. Credit must be given for taking on a young, hungry, tough [ though green at this level ] fighter. Lets hope for a good fight & see how things pan out.

Mosley wasn’t mentally ready to fight Floyd… He landed two highlight-reel rights… Then he went to sleep for 10 rounds and just waited for the final bell.. Why??? Floyd fought back. It’s a fight you moron.

Genaro Hernandez was finished you fool. How many times did he fight again after Mayweather beat him? Mayweather and Ali were much more talented than both Hernandez than Liston, whereas Alvarez is the one who is at talent deficit here, and given the fact that virtually everyone on the planet bar you is of the opinion that the fight has come too soon for him due to his lack of experience at the top level, it should be abundantly obvious why I’m accusing Mayweather of cherry-picking again. It should also be abundantly obvious why many are predicting Alvarez will be drained too. Had you actually taken the time to watch him fight before you’d already know why that is. You keep telling us that those two pounds means nothing but that’s not an opinion that’s shared across the board. You’ve seen the Andre Ward quote below, but what about this, huh?

“De La Hoya – Pacquiao fights him at a catch-weight. Cotto – he fights him at a catchweight. When I fought De La Hoya, I said ‘give him to me at 154.’ With Cotto – ‘give him to me at 154.’ Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses.

“I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn’t the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn’t hydrated”

And Leonard Ellerbe on Cotto vs Pacquiao:

“He was a dead man walking when he went into the ring,” Ellerbe said. “The casual fan doesn’t know what difference one or two pounds can make when a fighter is already down to weight. Fighters know.”

SREDMOND even your hero Andre Ward has publicly stated Canelo Alvarez is going to be greatly affected by the catchweight.

”Problem is Floyd doesn’t get tired so, and we’ve seen Canelo fade in fights before. And having to take off that extra two pounds is, you know, people think it’s just two pounds but when you already struggling to make ’54 that extra two pounds is a lot. And he’s going to put on a lot of weight but he’s not going to be able to put on the right kind of weight just in 24 hours. So he’s gonna feel the fact that he’s, you know, stripped his body, cutting his muscles to get to 152”

Pentagram, that 2 pounds means NOTHING if Alvarez is gonna land the haymaker he will pull it off… Hopkins beat both Pavlik and Oscar BADLY at a Catchweight and he was an OLD man shedding those pounds… He stopped Oscar in 9 and dominated Pavlik at 44 years old … Again I have seen and anticipated these WEAK excuses before…Pretending you are Canelos nutritionist or trainer is simply CORNY your another armchair Internet jockey deciding on Alvarez fight day condition before the fight starts… Canelo had PLENTY of time to make weight and the best resources available He’s gonna lose because Floyd not letting a fighter that slow beat him… That dummy Bears thinks that Canelo can punch with Floyd? HaHaHaHa!

Canelo Alvarez will NEVER have the skills nor speed to beat even the aging version of Mayweather we see at 36, in time all fighters lose their speed and reflexes.. Alvarez is a very Good young fighter but he was not born with the quickness, timing and elusiveness of FMJ… No fighter in the sport has his (FMJ’s) package hence him being #1 P4P in the world and undefeated after 17 years 5 divisions, and 3 lineal Chamionships.. In 17 years this fighter lost a single card during a fight he too almost no punishment.. Mayweather is easily the MOST dominant boxer in the sport, we have seen the current HW Champ knocked down 11 times and TKOed 3 times by foes that are nothing special… Mayweather being buzzed hurt has happened a precious few times…Canelo could fight till he’s 45 and still would never have the skill and speed to deal with the Mayweather riddle… I like Canelo and think that he has a future, but I would not mind seeing Floyd knock him out or really beat him up! Young people need discipline LMAO!

Bears, so remember your post below about “Mayweather being shocked” when Canelo is boxed senseless you have lets yourself NOWHERE to go… Again since you say “Canelos a beast” then a Mayweather victory will certainly leave you SUPER impressed given your assessment of Canelo… You fool, he’s gonna lose because he’s tool slow

Posted September 8, 2013 9:17 am

SREDMOND

Pentagram, I encourage you to KEEP writing even longer posts that lack real substance and fail to mask your virulent Anti-Mayweather bias… Canelo Alvarez had the belts at 154 so he’s the next guy that’s GOTTA GET IT… Floyd had less experience that Genaro Hernandez by a LONG SHOT when he knocked him out, Ali less than Liston, Spinks less than Ali and the list goes on… If there is going to be a changing of the guard then the younger ,FAR heavier fighter will overwhelm Mayweather, BUT fact is YOU know that ain’t gonna happen because Floyd’s just too damn good… You don’t want Fliyd facing anyone around his age and you don’t want him facing anyone younger so in essence you want Floyd retired and you think he’s STILL TO GREAT to lose!!!!! Bottomline absent some boxer WAYY out or his division you are another long winded Mayweather nemesis who lives in a state of constant frustration…Clearly you can see how excited I am that we will see FMJ do battle with another guy who wants to take the glory and accolades he has…Your notion that Mayweather should find the “perfect day for his opponents” is pure nonsense… So what’s the remedy wait till Floyd’s 42?? Silly man

Posted September 8, 2013 9:14 am

Pentagram

Mayweather is forcing him to fight at a catch-weight you fool. Alvarez might be woefully inexperienced at the elite level but he has the the kind of ambition and willingness to est himself against the best Mayweather can only dream of. He desperately wants to reach the mountain summit before he’s ready. It’s the naivety of youth in full effect. That’s why he’s conceded to Mayweather the liar and the hypocrite’s demands, because he badly wants the fight.

And the weight won’t be functional because he’s having to drain down even more than usual, and given the fact that it’s abundantly clear for all to see his stamina is badly affected by him having to boil down as it is, it’s doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out it’s only going to hinder him in that department to an even greater degree. He’s also going to fighting against an opponent who is far and beyond anything he has ever faced before, which is obviously only going to exacerbate that even further. I think it would be a good idea if you learned to think and at least made an effort to maximize your intellectual potential, no matter how limited in scope it is, before you opened your mouth next time.

Floyd will Cherrypicked, shot , over the hill, past their prime, paid the ref just to make sure his boring style boxing will stay to zero loss. I bet you this one is a fixed fight. Floyd will come out surprisingly the winner. Either by controversial or just plain stupid 12 rounds unanimous decision or whatever. Floyd got paid 40+ millions for ugly boring fight I just don’t see it how this dude gets so much money for it. They need to fix the way boxing rewards or pay the boxer. Winner takes all or at least the higher purse not get paid 40+ millions where the fight hasn’t happen yet.

Dodging and manuvering…..BAM!

Floyd has been ducking and dodging his whole carrer he’s faced names that he knew he could beat whether they were small, taylor made or past their prime. The only opponent faced that you thought “oh man this guy is going to beat his ass” was Diego Corrales. There no other dude out there on he resume that ever gave the notion that Floyd might lose……maybe Oscar but that’s IT. This guy has dodged and maneuvered his way into brain washing everybody into thinking that he is the best. He is the best at dodging and avoiding….this dude is tainted period. I garuantee he didn’t want the Canelo fight but SHOWTIME forced him into it. He can’t but asses in seats if he did why doesn’t he fight on the 4th of July or Martin Luther King Jr’s bday. Why is he fight on dates made famous by Mexicans like Julio Cesar Chavez and later ODH. PPV king….my ASS!

The respect that Bears, Pentagram and the Dying Queen have for Mayweather is PAINFULLY obvious…They cannot settle into a prediction without trying to get Canelo off the hook.. These 3 NON Boxing fans already see the Red Head losing and are both pissed and depressed in advance.. Real fans would not hand a 23 year old Uniified Champ an excuse before the first bell UNLESS they did not believe in him…Terry Norris tore Sugar Ray Leonard a new ass when he was 23 or 24 and Ray was 2 years YOUNGER than Mayweather is today AND Norris unlike Canelo had ALREADY been knocked out, Ali stopped Liston at 21 when people thought he was gonna get killed… Canelo hash very physical advantage, youth, power and SIZE whereas Floyd’s unreal skills, speed and intelligence are his Aces… Moral to the story is if Canelo is something special he will find a way to win… (I know that’s ridiculous)… Get ready to hold hands the 3 of you and jump preferably off a VERY tall building…!

Alvarez is SUPPOSED to be LESS Experienced genius he’s 23 and Floyds 36… So what of it? Old Champs are often taken by young ones.. Are you saying Alvarez should NOT have won the relevant belts at 154 till he was older? Or do you only see the fight as making sense if Floyd’s closer to 40? Since you favor experience, we can now say that Mosley had more experience and more fights than Mayweather according to your thesis? He fought a peak Oscar 2x, Forrest 2x, Winky 2x, Vargas, Mayorga, peak Cotto and Margarito? Basically according to Pentagrams thesis Shane Mosley had the UPPER hand on Mayweather (experience, more fights) BUT he lost by a wide margin?? You have done 2 things Pentagram 1.) elevated Floyd’s win over Shane, 2.) Basically given Canelo NO chance… Thanks for the ASSIST!!

Alvarez might be fourteen years younger but he’s also much more inexperienced. Mayweather is still the best in the world remember, whereas Alvarez is just a young pup who has much growing a head of him before he develops into fa fearsome guard dog that can protect his master’s property. It’s skills that pay the bills remember, it’s not about size or weight. Do you remember who said that? And those 17 pounds aren’t going to be a functional 17 pounds anyway because Alvarez is going to be drained by the catch-weight, the catch-weight Mayweather the liar insisted on. If Mayweather didn’t think it was going to make a huge difference the fight would be being contested at the division limit. Now who is the brainless one here?

Why are you resorting to straw man? The straw man only scare away the birds but you’re dealing with men here. Mayweather has cherry-picked Alvarez because he has a six fight deal with Showtime and he knows they’re going to force that fight on him at some stage of that deal. He’s calculatingly opted, as he is infamous for doing throughout most of his career, to fight his opponent when they’re years removed from their most formidable, usually many years after they were at their best, but in this instance he’s taken the other route, to fight them when they’re many years away from reaching their prime. This is how Mayweather operates and it’s the main reason why he’s considered a fraudster by so many.

He doesn’t have to wait until he’s 40 to fight him, Alvarez is still years away from his prime but he’d still present a much more stiffer challenge one or two fights down the road against elite level opponents. Mayweather knows this, as do the experts in the trade, and that is why it’s a cherry-pick, because Mayweather knows Alvarez is badly inexperienced at the elite level and needs more seasoning. He knows that the kid is going to get a lot better with each passing fight. This is view that has been echoed time and time again by the majority involved in the trade.

And once again you are resorting to straw man? This has nothing to do with me wanting or not wanting to see Alvarez get a massive pay day. This is about me wanting to see Mayweather stop conning the public again. Let’s not forget this is a man who claims to be one of the greats, or to be more precise, THE greatest, but he’s tried to cheat his way up the ladder instead of earning that distinction the right way by climbing like those he aspires to be like. Let’s take a look at who he’s fought.

Carlos Baldomir? One of the worst 147 pound champions in the history of the sport.

Oscar De La Hoya? On the surface a great win but in reality nothing more than a good one. De La Hoya was a completely spent force by that time. He was many, many years removed from his prime but look how close he ran him. Many say he actually deserved the decision in that fight but I had it a draw.

Ricky Hatton? A decent win.

Marquez? Great fighter but it was an absolute farce of a fight for obvious reasons..

Shane Mosley? Please. Who next? Jose Napoles? Henry Armstrong?

Victor Ortiz? I shouldn’t even dignify that with an answer. How do you spell average? And what about the ending? Terrible.

Cotto? Same answer as Mosley. He was finished long ago.

Robert Guerrero? Ortiz mark 2. C + fighters.

Pretty pitiful for a supposed great isn’t it? Now do you understand where I’m coming from. Please just think about that for a moment before you answer.

Au contrair, mon ami I offered a very definitive prediction. Is Alvarez not woefully inexperienced fighting at the elite level and against elite opposition? Do you contest that? An ancient Shane Mosley or a European level at best Matthew Hatton won’t prepare him for the task at hand. Austin Trout is OK but he only has one decent win under his belt himself, against a past Cotto. Trout’s merely a good fighter at this point, nothing more. My assertion that this has come far too soon for Alvarez is one which is shared by many, including almost every fighter and trainer I’ve seen interviewed, which is many.

I say he’s going to be drained because I’ve watched most of his fights and I’ve seen him struggle to maintain a high pace over the long haul against the higher calibre opposition. Comes into the ring weighing 165lb plus, runs out of petrol and can’t maintain a high pace over the 12 round distance. Having to shed even more weight than usual will only have an even more detrimental effect on his stamina. It’s a simple equation. Mayweather obviously feels it’s going to weaken him otherwise he would’ve fought him at the division limit, sparing himself from a wave of ridicule for being a gigantic hypocrite in the process. Leonard Ellerbe has already stated that Alvarez will be weakened by the catchweight too.

I believe Mayweather is a cherrypicking AGAIN.

I believe this has come far too soon for Alvarez.

And I also believe Alvarez will be weight drained.

These are widely held opinions. Should I lie just to please you or should I speak the truth?

Sredmond.., No excuses.., Even you know Canelo hasn’t reached the peak of his powers at age 23 — and he should be there by 30.

The difference between Canelo Alvarez—and Wilfred Benitez, Terry Norris, Fernando Vargas, Meldrick Taylor, and various other China-Chins who fell on hard times before they reached 30 or younger—is those clowns had NO DEFENSE… Just like Amir Khan—when they stopped throwing punches they were taking punches, and eventually they all met good punchers like Danny Garcia who destroyed them.

That won’t happen to Canelo… He spent almost the the whole 12 rounds making super slick southpaw Austin Trout miss almost everything he threw.. Any fluff that did land didn’t have any effect—while Trout was shook up, wobbled, and floored for the 1st time in his life—going down to his 1st defeat.

Odd thing about this so called p4p’er (floyd) is that he has never in his career has ever had a career defining fight. When he could have had one…. he built obstacles to prevent it. There is no fight that cannot come to fruition but that is besides the point. Floyd…..has demonstrated he has skills but has through out the better part of his career never ever fought anyone his equal to rightfully claim to be the best fighter in his generation. He has fought fighters that have a name only…like DLH and Cotto to name a couple but as we all know….they were past their prime. Good thing for replays the following week.

Even though he looked vulnerable against El Perro he forced p4p 1 of the toughest s.o.bs in boxing to quit due to injury another top jmw Canelo hasn’t fought. His performance against PWill spoke volumes for the level this kid is on and he drew with Carlos Molina a tremendous boxer and another top jmw that Canelo has been protected from. With a resume like that at jmw Canelo can’t even enter those rankings.

Correction Mr. Know it All ( SRedwhatever), not matter how many belts floyd gets at 154…..assuming he beats Canelo ( big if)…….we can all agree floyd has never fought at the divsions weight for title winning efforts at 154. If Canelo is fighting at 152….what is Floyd fight at??? Floyd will be know as the 154 Catchweight King!!!! and !!!!! He didn’t want DLH to to fight him at 154….he didn’t want Canelo to fight at 154 and he certainly didnt fight Cotto at 154 so, what can we deduce from these minor efforts?…. Floyd has never won a title at 154 fighting at the divisions limit which is where title fights need to be contested. Im certainly not impressed and so are many others. In all kinds of trouble before he caught Perro……Canelo is rightfully top man at 154 the Trout win has cache but it was wayyyy closer than those ridiculous scores suggest and open scoring certainly influenced the tone of the bout..Lara ended in a draw with Vanes, he’s semi inconsistent in my book..No matter before he drops back to his best weight of 147 the best 154 pounder will be FMJ when he takes Canelos belts…

Tark is ALSO making a TON of excuses about who Canelo “will be” in his imagination in 8 years… For all we know Canelo might be a Mexican version of Meldrick Taylor, or Fernando Vargas …God Forbid..Plenty of young guys have sent and older fighter packing Terry Norris did it to Leonard, Holmes to Ali, Ali to Liston, if Canelos the “real deal” he should not need to face a 90 year old version of Floyd Mayweather to win… Stop making excuses and give us a concrete prediction Tark or consider resting your keyboard at the Old Folks home..So what’s your call?

Posted September 7, 2013 2:08 pm

Tark Canelo demanded the fight for the same reason i predicted he would flat out outbox Trout because Trout wasn’t at all impressive against Cotto. Cotto showed Trouts defense was easy to penetrate and the only reason Trout was able to just edge out Cotto was his size advantage. I feel this needs to be said because Canelos victory over Trout doesn’t make him the best jmw as some have come to believe. I don’t know if the deal has been finalized but if Trout did get a fight with Lara it won’t be no where near as close as Canelo v Trout was Lara is going to continue to prove himself as the best jmw in the world by convincingly beating Trout unlike Canelo did. This also needs to be said because if Floyd beats Canelo he isn’t beating the best jmw in the world.

Pentagram, you did NOT offer a prediction you offered excuses for why Canelos gonna lose without watching a round.. You decided “he’s drained” on a message board less than 10 days before the bout… You prove my point 100% as to the reluctance of FMJ detractors to simply say his challenger will win or lose absent excuses.. Thanks for further illuminating my genius..

TARK

Canelo looked slightly clunky and awkward versus Trout.. He was very fast, but he won’t be a master boxer until he’s about 30 years old. He’s going to have rough edges for a few more years — but it doesn’t mean he can’t beat Floyd by simply overpowering him and beating him into the canvas.

Austin Trout is a very slick 171lb southpaw. Very strong, and very tricky. He moves very well, jabs well, throws a ton of punches, and outpoints everybody by a wide margin.. He had his way with Cotto.. You’re going to look bad against Austin Trout — even when you beat him.

It’s not a fight Canelo’s brain trust wanted him to take.. It’s a fight Canelo demanded.. He knew he had to fight a slick, undefeated world champion caliber boxer before he fought Floyd. This kid is smart. Trout is bigger, taller, and stronger than Floyd, so even though it was a very awkward fight it was worth every second of 12-round action to Canelo. You can’t polish your boxing skills boxing 2nd rate boxers.

Canelo is going to be a lot smoother with his jab in a few years. He’ll be sharper with his counterpunches. His foot work is going to be 10 times better… But if you’re the top available boxer in the world to face the GOAT, you can’t wait. You take the fight right now.. If you’re 22 or 23 years old, it doesn’t matter.. Even if Saul loses this will be a historic fight..

Ray Robinson lost to Jake LaMotta after being undefeated in 40 fights.. Robinson was simply overpowered by a very slow light hitter, who was very strong, durable, and tough. Every guy has somebody who can beat him.

Im going on record and guaranteeing a Canelo win. Canelo will unveil a brand new sharp jab passed on to him from ODH. Coming in behind the jab Canelos high boxing I.Q and patience will allow his to use his size well wearing Floyd down ripping at Floyds body and arms. Floyd will begin to get desperate and fire harder shots and hurt his soft brittle righthand again. This will be the beginning of the end for Floyd he won’t be able to do enough to get a victory on the cards and lose by either ud or sd. This is only if Canelo doesn’t land just one flush shot either to the liver or the head and put Mr. Softie down for the count. Floyds losing this one boys andthe sweetest part about it is it will be due to Canelos intelligence.

Just as I said earlier Mayweather fans always change their tune to fit around their fuhrer.

Mayweather said

“I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he’s not comfortable. I want a guy when he’s at his best. If he’s at his best at 154 and he’s strong and he’s solid, then that’s the fight we’re fighting at”

Not

”I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he’s not comfortable. I want a guy when he’s at his best. If he’s at his best at 154 and he’s strong and he’s solid, then that’s the fight we’re fighting at unless he calls me out and is much bigger than me”

How long did he spend using the catch-weight excuse to discredit Paquiao’s achievements?

How long did all you sheep do the same?

But one that lying hypocrite put his foot in his mouth again you all followed suit because you’re all completely spineless.

It couldn’t be any more abundantly clear to see that Mayweather is a serial cheat, and that he continuously breaks the rules from bell to bell everytime he steps into a ring. No of course his fans immediate reaction to this is to do the thing that comes most naturally to them, instinctively even: to lie and completely deny there’s any validity to these accusations. But when you show them video evidence, irrefutable proof which cannot be contested, then they either still continue to play dumb in spite of incontestable proof presented to them or they or they instinctively pluck another flimsy excuse from out of thin air to defend him.

”Money May’s so smart”

”It’s only cheating if you get caught”

”It’s veteran tactics”

His fans are leaches, they have no backbone at all.

I like the way everybody keeps posting what Floyd said about his opponents being comfortable. The one difference here is Canelos team came up with the 152lb weight limit. Also don’t forget it was the bigger Canelo who called out the smaller Floyd

Give me the guys where they are comfortable at their weight so there are no excuses.”

”I know in my heart that I didn’t deserve to win my first fight against Jose Luis Castillo. I would’ve lost the rematch too if he hadn’t been in such poor shape. We knew he was still bitterly depressed about getting robbed in our first fight and that he’d been drinking heavily for the past seven and a half months. Our Mexican spies said he had been drinking at least two whole 1.75 liter bottles of tequila a day all throughout that period and was in a real bad way. That’s why we rushed him into the fight at 12 days notice.”

“BTW that last post of mine was meant for Pentagram… Pryor never beat any WW’s of any stature.. He didn’t have any claim to fight Leonard.”

Ok, Tark. But regarding Pryor–the point he was trying to make at Leonard’s press conference was that there was no challenge left for him at jr. welterweight so he wanted to move up and fight as a welterweight–to fight Leonard.

Speaking of WW’s of stature, what welterweight of stature did Guerrero beat on his way to a fight with Floyd? Aydin? Berto? . Marquez? Hatton? What claim did they have to fight Mayweather?

I think if Pryor could have gotten a fight with Leonard when Pryor was asking for it, it would have been one helluva fight. Besides, isn’t it the usual way that a boxer moves up in weight? How many champions has Mayweather fought that weren’t champions in his weight class? And how many did he fight that didn’t have much experience–or none–as a welterweight?

Anyways, I think Pryor had a claim to fighting Leonard. Pryor owned the jr. welterweight division. Challenging Leonard was the next logical move–especially since he knew Leonard so well as a boxer.

“Pryor never campaigned for a fight with Leonard.”

Maybe, Tark. But Pryor did openly and publiclystate that he wanted to fight Leonard.

Q: “Who do you want to fight next?”
Pryor: “I want to fight Leonard because I feel like I am the king of the jr. welterweights for what I’ve already done. ”

Pryor walked in on a Sugar Ray Leonard press conference and told Leonard he already beat the #1 contender in his weight division and that he didn’t have anything else to prove there, “so why not come up?” So he wanted Leonard. Leonard replied, “This is my show Pal,” as he stepped in front of Pryor to push him away from the mics. Leonard never said he’d give Pryor a fight.

BTW, Pryor worked and sparred with Leonard for some 3 or 4 years. Ferdie Pacheco once said “Aaron Pryor was being short-changed by history.”

If you look at Pac, how often does he clinch even at this stage of his career?

How often does he throw low blows?

How about head-butt?

I think that is why many like to see him fight: He is action packed and closer to the rules. He is better for the casual viewer especially.

Clinching really bothers me even though I understand its use. In a real fight, YES, clinching is an obvious great tactile move but for me the fan, I just want to see fist flying and defensive wizardry with fighters just making opponents miss and then countering.

You target the worst offenders. Most fighters only cheat a little from time to time, some very rarely, or some never at all. There are lots and lots of clean fighters out there. 90% of fighters are angels compared to Hopkins and some of the other sport’s dirtiest fighters. It’s like imprisoning everyone whose ever had a fist fight to try and catch serial killers. Target the worst offenders.

That would be like Floyd wanting Pac to go under additional drug testing but not doing it himself. It makes no sense to only look at one.

when the majority are doing it, it could come down to it being taught and learned in fights to the point that fighters don’t even realize it is illegal because they don’t bother to read the rule book.

So again, it would be the culture of the boxers to think it is normal and allowed.

There’s bending the rules, and there’s bending the rules. Hopkins is the biggest cheat. A disgrace of a man and a fighter, and Mayweather isn’t too far behind.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:50 pm

Winner

Agree; Hopkins is a whiner.

He bends the rules all the time. His hugging action as he got older became unbearable.

And despite what fans thought was a close fight against Calzaghe, and it was, but what if he didn’t b.s. us about the low blow and buy himself time because he was gassing?

Posted September 6, 2013 7:49 pm

Pentagram

Here we go. Same old same old. When all else fails try to turn it on to someone else. Typical.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:48 pm

Winner

Maybe a select few haven’t bent the rules and I’m not even sure of that. If you had a certain amount of fights and experience, you tend to bend the rules at one time.

I would get rid of clinching.

I would make the gloves smaller to 6oz even for HWs.

I prefer Pac’s style of fighting for action than Floyd. It’s not debatable. He is closer to the rule book as far as what goes on inside the ring.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:47 pm

Pentagram

When someone cheats against Hopkins? He cries like a little girl or quits like byatch. Screw the fans. He don’t care you’ve laid out a lot of money to see him. That you’ve been looking forward to the fight for months. He’s getting paid. And people actually respect that cretin? hehehehe

Actually, they are “veteran tactics.”

You can watch many of the old Timers fighting the same way. Even worse actually, There were a lot better than Floyd actually. Some real dirty fighters. Hopkins was on a higher level of Old School tricks than Floyd is. Mike Tyson used to study them as well. Gene Tunney, Jack Johnson, Ali, etc. the list goes on and on.

Now I did read what was said to be the rule book online before and it was so strict that it would be a better fight in many ways if the rule book was followed by a tee.

pac actually fights a lot cleaner than many fighters today excluding the JMM knockdown in the first fight but that’s momentum.

”But all fighters are dirty”

”It’s not cheating if you can get away with it”

Those dirty tactics play almost as big a part in him remaining undefeated as his blatant cherrypicking and ducking.

They always change their tune to fit around him. They’re spineless hypocrites.

True. People still tuned in to see a Past Prime Holyfield take on a Past Prime Tyson. And then years later watch a Past Prime Lennox Lewis fight a Shot Tyson.

Its’ still a lose lose for Floyd except for a big paycheck which really isn’t losing I guess. But Bob Arum would have to step aside which I don’t think he will. He would want a promotional cut which includes more than what people tend to think it is. They have those world wide deals they cut out fighters from I hear which Floyd knew about and got in on as a TMT Promoter for himself.

The only thing Floyd has ducked is a loss.

Pac would have to get a rematch with JMM and even things back out by knocking him out quickly Ricky Hatton style. This way, people can say I told you it was a lucky punch (even though it was a perfectly timed placed punch). Good for promotion though.

I would have liked to have seen that fight but it lost its interest at this point. Both made to many obstacles. Neither should be let off the hook for that one.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:20 pm

Winner

Seriously, what’s the point of fighting Pac when

he is still with Bob Arum

he was knocked out by JMM

the fight is no longer the same

its a lose lose for Floyd because of the above.

What does Floyd have to gain at this point from fighting Pac?

If he wins, so what; JMM already knocked him out.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:18 pm

Winner

Also remember that Hatton refused Floyd twice while they were both at jrWW so Floyd moved up. His ultimate goal, The Golden Boy.

I also think Hatton got an easier version of Floyd. 140 version of Floyd was a bit better physically.

There was only one person that stopped Floyd and Cotto getting together during their prime years and that man’s name is Bob Arum.

What happened one Cotto left Arum? FLoyd and him signed quickly.

duck is a duck

Floyd ducks every fighter who becomes pro and gets a little limelight. That’s what all his detractors say. I’m surprised nobody is saying he’s ducking Thurman or Matthysse yet.

Posted September 6, 2013 7:14 pm

Tricks77

I especially enjoy it when writers use all caps to emphasize words. It really adds to the essence and respectability of the piece. My main point of contention though, is that Floyd did eventually fight one of the fighters that had been identified as being “ducked”. Cotto. By that time Cotto, one of my favorite fighters, was more than beaten before he even stepped into the ring. He was brutalized by a plaster-wielding Margarito, then picked up an easy win over the unheralded Michael Jennings, and a disputed split decision over Clottey. He then was soundly thrashed by the much faster Manny Pacquiao, before collecting wins over the feather-fisted Yuri Foreman, an ancient Ricardo Mayorga, and an Antonio Margarito who, deprived of his cheating, looked thoroughly ineffective and totally lacking punching power. Timing is everything. This fight came five years too late, while Floyd was engaging fighters used to fighting below 147 at that time – Hatton and Marquez, whereas Floyd had already been fighting at welterweight for 3 years.

What its not – Pacquaio had no amateur career….hes fought professionally his entire career and those losses came real early in his career. Floyd was NOT undefeated as an amateur and did NOT bring home the gold in the Olympics…..some context please

TARK

Robert Jackson says.., “Sugar Ray Leonard NEVER fought Aaron Pryor. Sugar Ray Robinson NEVER fought Charley Burley. George Foreman never fought Larry Holmes.”

Not altogether true for the Sugar Ray Leonard appraisal.

Leonard had no reason to fight Pryor.. Pryor never campaigned for a fight with Leonard. Fighters Leonard DID duck: After Leonard whipped Hagler to capture the 160-pound title Ray was stripped of the title for avoiding top contenders Michael Nunn.. Mike McCallum.. and Julian Jackson.

Leonard was the most flagrant ducker in the history of Boxing. Sugar Ray Robinson was a close second.

Robinson not only ducked Charley Burley—Robinson refused rematches with Ralph Jones and Joey Maxim after they BEAT and STOPPED Robinson. Robinson also ducked Archie Moore. He just flat out refused to fight old Arch.

George Foreman never fought a rematch with any fighter who beat him. “Why would I fight a guy who already knows he can beat me? He would just be more confident for the rematch.” … Foreman was always a great thinker.

Posted September 6, 2013 6:50 pm

what it is

The Floyd ducked so & so argument infers that Mayweather would have lost had he faced “elite” opponents. Pacquiao’s two losses to no-name fighters are a direct contradiction to that point. Floyd hasn’t lost at any point in his career, especially against early fighters when he was first coming up.

Floyd & Pac don’t need to fight each other to secure a legacy among the best. It’s not like the loser wouldn’t gain enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. It’s one opponent on two resume’s that had already assured both passage into Canastota.

I am a Floyd fan and think that he will beat Alvarez but will have a tough time doing it but also, Does anyone out there really think that Packman stands a chance against Floyd now after his KO to Marquez ? Come on now, let’s get real ? Floyd has fought everyone and although I , at one time, was very critical towards Floyd ( several years ago)> I have become a believer in him, he has fought everyone over the years. Mosely, Delahoya, Guerrea, Cotto ( and he made made Cotto look foolish in the process )and the list gfoes on. For God’s sake give the man his due ?? What does he gain by taking on a fight with Manny now ? The only thing is he’ll just make more money and in the process still be criticized. Accept the fact that this man is great … Again you all have to accept it… PEACE .. check out my book boxingdictinary, com … PEACE

Those matters are not relevant to the discussion of him as an athlete and dominant figure in the sport… Yesssssssss WINNING is what it’s all about and he’s the best at it, coupled with ureal financial success the public has VOTED him

in one of the pre-fight segments playing on cable a barber asks two boxing figures whether they believed Mayweather’s motivation was monetary or competitive? the answer is that they are one and the same to Mayweather: the compensation needs to correspond with the risk, dedication, and sacrifices necessary to be an undefeated Boxer of Mayweather’s stature. both facets of the boxing business rely on each other: the bigger the challenge, the higher the compensation; the bigger the payday, the higher the risk, i.e., each directly influences the quality/amount of the other. “Money” is not interested in one without the other but for $40+ million, he will confidently prepare to face the youngest, biggest, and strongest undefeated fighter he’s ever faced. “makes dollars, makes $en$e” . . . “Cash rules everything around ['Money']/CREAM get the money/Dollah-dollah bill, Y’all”.

the accusations of Floyd “ducking” anyone will end right here: there is no other welter capable of competing v. (never mind defeating) Mayweather resulting in Floyd agreeing to fight the best and undefeated 154lbr coming off a dominant win (NOT loss) v. a top-3 contender that many favored to defeat him. instead, the undefeated Trout became a stage for Canelo to showcase his own breakaway talent and skills and THIS is the challenge that Floyd is NOT “ducking”. Btw, Team Punkuiao’s* $10 million per pound overweight clause that Mayweather also agreed too sounds like more of an attempt to sabotage their P4P showdown than Mayweather’s harmless and MUTUALLY-Applied anti-doping condition. there should be no doubt who “ducked” that challenge and his nickname isn’t “Money”.

2nd Negotiations 2011:

Eric, I train 2 professional fighters and I was a fighter – Pro-BOXING is a GAME not a SPORT!! The opportunity to MAKE money fighting doesn’t drop in your LAP! You have to chart a course and stick to it. For example a fighter I work with: a small heavyweight 5’10″ 220lbs signed a contract to fight a 6’1″ 215lb heavyweight. A week before the fight my heavyweights opponent got hurt (so they said) and we were asked did we still want to fight and they would find another opponent for us so we agreed to fight anyway. We trained for 6 weeks and wanted to make the money we signed for. The replacement fighter they got for us was 6’4″ 260lbs: you see it was a setup all along they just wanted to use my fighter to build their 6’4″ fighter up and that’s what happened. My fighter only had a week to adjust to a different fighter which wasn’t long enough, my fighter GOT KO’D. We should’ve turned that fight down, but there’s politics involved in turning a fight down too.

Fans on the outside looking in are JUST consumers the fighters and trainers are producers.

Another thing that must be considered when a big name guy takes a fight is FANANCIAL arrangements for example: fighters purse is divided as follows – 10% trainers fee, 30% Uncle SAM, 33% managers fee, 2% sanctioning body fee, 27% Promoters fee (Top Rank), total 102% leaving nothing for the fighter. Now, all the fees listed above except Uncle SAMS are negotiable when promotional and managerial contracts are signed. Some fighters are in perpetual servitude to a fight manager or promoter, because these guys will loan a fighter some of his own money with interest and he will have pay it off by fighting for them. PRO-BOXING is a GAME!!

Over all the fans generate the revenue at the gate and the box office. When lots watch, people avertise and that also generates cash flow for fighters and networks that show the fights to those fans that dont have opertunity to be in attendance. Fans at distance produce a large amount of the moneys so i belive we should have a say in the matter, an least an opinion that guys like bob arum hear. I think the boxers should wsnt to give the dedicated fights fans what they want, i meanknow body has to complain at footbsll officals because their allready doing their jobs of matching the best against the best. Look history of our great sport has been for the most part the best fight the best, why water down the sport. Fighters like floyd have pride in thier game and in order to be the best you got to fight the best, exspecialy if your going to run around like floyd screm n he s the best fighter in history. Mayweather knew what he wss getting into when he started fighting and forsure he knows now, and if floyd was in danger he could always retire. Idk coz has a contract, but im sure he can find a way. Floyds legacy could be the grestest of all time and i want to wiitness that, and that will only happen doing what all greats before him did and thats fight the best.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

“Mayweather Jr: Who is he Ducking NOW?”

Answer: FMJ ducked PacMan for years and is STILL avoiding him. He just released a statement to the media saying that he never will fight PacMan.
Maravilla is a natural 154lbs fighter (small MW) and called out FMJ for years at 154lbs. So Floyd ALSO ducked Martinez.

If FMJ happens to get past Canelo, by decision robbery, he will duck other top Jr. MW’s like Lara. 3G has been calling out FMJ at 154lbs for close to two years now. He’s a naturally small MW, like Maravilla, and can EASILY make weight at 154lbs. 3G is on record saying that it’s his ultimate dream to fight FMJ at Jr. MW. So if FMJ gets the nod vs. Canelo, he better be willing to defend all those 154lbs titles/straps against the very best Jr. MWs in the world. And by the official rules of boxing, that includes any fighter who can make weight at 154lbs. Fight 3G!!!

And if Matthysse beats Garcia, he will likely move up to 147lbs and beg for a fight with FMJ. Floyd will duck Lucas as well because he has too much power for him. How come FMJ never talks about fighting Bradley at WW???

Out of one side of your mouth you claim that FMJ is a 147lbs fighter and is too small to fight at Jr. MW. What a joke… LOL. But then you FAIL to explain why FMJ has NOT even been able to unify all the major titles at 147lbs. I just named two fighters that FMJ has definitely ducked in past and 3 more who he will definitely duck in future.

And please keep in mind that I haven’t even mentioned his fake two- year “retirement” and all the formidable opponents he totally avoided when they were still in their primes. To call FMJ the GOAT or “greatest fighter of his generation” is an joke!

In truth, FMJ is the cherry-picking chess master of over-hyped promotions. A skilled con-man and salesman who’s all about making money and playing the sport and fans like a toy drum. His strategy has always been getting the maximum rewards for taking minimal risks. And has always gone to great lengths to avoid the very best in the world while they were most dangerous. Want to impress me??? Finish your career like a REAL warrior by fighting 3G, Matthysse, Lara, PacMan and Bradley. Real talk.

Rjack, thats maybe what you grew up listing to so I understand that. You seem like a decent guy and all but dont make excuses for fighters because it hurts the fans. Football players take riskto but they dont have the option of pulling out of playing the best and that makes it exciting and a great part of history, thats why we sometimes have the conversatioms about the suger ray len… ali s and tyson fights becuse some of the fights were great. People are not saying boxing is die n and that for no reason. We had some grest fights this year and more on the way and so far all the fighters are doing well.

If a boxer is worried about his health and or that dosent allow him to fight the best fighters then he should have picked a diffrent profession. Boxing isnt just about the boxers, if it were not for the fans boxer s would not be boxers and get payed 40 million a fight like mayweather. Mayweather is extream rich and should retire now if he is so worried about his health and has nothing to prove. Im a fan and my money is hard earend, so I want to see good fights. Floyd could get hurt by a lucky shot from a b level fighter aswell so why rip off the consumer and take garbage fights. Police officers risk their lives every day for peanuts so if mayweather risk his life for 40 million dollars for a 30 min fight he s doing alrite and must feel its worth it other wise he would retire. Stop try n to make excuses and make boxing suck, your part of the problem, garbage fights getting made.

He instigates them to HATE him more so they’ll part with their dollars ($75) on fight night with the HOPE of seeing him LOSE!! Floyd knows these naysayers will not be persuaded by the TRUTH or FACTS, so he extracts his pound of flesh from them in the form of FINANCIAL renumeration.

This article is factual, but the Floyd haters cannot see beyond their hate to receive these truths in the spirit that I delivered them, but that changes nothing. Like Floyd says “you can pay to see me win, or you can pay to see me lose, but you still pay”.

Eric, ‘PRIZE FIGHTING’ isn’t a SPORT or athletic competition, it’s a BUSINESS like the CASINO BUSINESS.

Floyd has FOUGHT BASICALLY the SAME GUYS that Pacquiao fought, IS Pacquiao TOO a CHERRYPICKER?? Or JUST Floyd?

Floyd’s OPPONENTS are selected based on their ECONOMIC VALUE and worth, BOXING has always been that way and MINUS a boxing league like the NFL where everyone pretty much PLAYS everyone, boxing will stay this way.

Floyd WILL fight the GUY that brings the MOST MONETARY BENEFIT to the table and THAT’S what ALL fighters want.

NONE of them care what you or I say, they’re IN that RING taking the PUNCHES, and only have a small WINDOW to MAXIMIZE their PROFITABILITY.

And after boxing it is THEY who have to deal with the sometimes DEBILITATING CONSEQUENCES of their boxing CAREERS – with includes health problems and FINANCIAL problems, while YOU and I move on to the NEXT fighter and CLAIM him/her as our NEW champion!

Posted September 6, 2013 2:36 pm

rjack58

Wladimir and Vitali are BASICALLY 1-2 fighters and that’s it!! Why no one can beat them is because…other heavyweights no LONGER fight one another gaining enough experience to deal with their HEIGHT and REACH. Heavyweight BOXING is a joke, with most if not ALL the prospects and contenders POSTURING rather than FIGHTING. So when they go up against the Klitschko Brothers they either fought guys whose attributes are significantly less then the brothers or haven’t fought in a long time.

Povetkin has fought NOBODY that has given him the experience to BEAT Wladimir Klitschko, he’ll last about 4 or 5 rounds and then retire or get KO’D!!

Everybody knows floyd mayweater is an elite fighter thats flashy wilth great counter skills and wins in style. Even haters know this and admit to those facts, however the problem isnt the haters that keep the argument or debate alive, its the mayweather supporters and nut huggers that wont admitt that since ricky hatton, floyd has cherry picked a bit anf fought some past their prime fighters, so what its happens right ? Just admitt that its true and we can move on. Last, just remember that the great fight mayweather vs canelo that will transpire soon is in direct relation to the so called haters who demand to see great champs take great fights. If it was up to the nut huggers, mayweather would be doing a rematch with shane mosley or some othr crap fight.

Winner, I respectfully disagree with you. Those 2 guys would probably be top 15 or 20 heavyweights if they were 6’2″, 6’3″ because of their tenaciousness, not because of their skills. If you’ll remember Wladimir Klitschko used to watch a lot of Sugar Ray Robinson fights and try to emulate that style in the ring and he couldn’t do it successfully. When Emanuel Steward began training him after his loss to Lamon Brewster, Steward took those ideas out of Wladdy’s head and taught him to fight TALL and conservatively so he wouldn’t run out of gas.

Wladimir is overall a good athlete. You can see that when he has fun in others activities.

And when it comes to boxing specifically, he is highly skilled. BIg Man or not, Those skills are lethal. One of the most precision punchers in the game. And understands distance.

You mold to your sport as well…specifically during your growth periods if you are taking up the sport young. It’s all about that training growing up.

You can have the same exact person look different based on the sport he focused on growing up. I’ve seen it with twins. Weird.

That’s why transitions can be hard.

Taller/Bigger guys that are high quality Boxers are rare.

Smaller guys are better fit to be athletic with speed and agility. So if the Klitschkos were smaller, who knows, maybe they are even greater since they would be proportionally better off for being athletes.

So to take ones ability at his current size and say “well if he were smaller” and act like that ability would be the same is unfair.

Floyd stretched out to 6’7, 250, might not be the Floyd you see now. Again, an athlete like Floyd is more common because of his size than an athlete like Wladimir in boxing.

Other sports again??

Sorry man but I’ve already explained this to you.

Bye.

The Klitschko Brothers are 2 GIANTS – actually SuperHeavyweights, who know how to use their FRAMES to win fights. There’s nothing wrong with that!! If those guys were 6’2″ or 6’3″ heavyweights they would be AVERAGE at best!!

Oh lets not forget the other southpaw who offered to boil down to 150 Martinez. Now i only want Floyd to fight Pac for me to concede to his greatness but since he wants to fight at jmw and some ranking him as the #1 jmw now Martinez enters the picture.

I’m sorry but I can’t continue this if you’re going to keep on deflecting.

It’s completely pointless.

I set you a simple task and you failed to meet it.

Not because you’re stupid or a bad person.

Because I’m right.

And it saddens me that you won’t admit to that.

Canelo shouldnt even have a title. Trout should have never had one either. Canelo was designed by the WBC to generate money and the superfight with Floyd, was their ultimate goal. Its about money, not boxing. this fight is a farce.

Fight Aficionado

So the premise is only “haters” believe Floyd was ducking opponents. Ignore the fact he never stepped up to any of the 147 title holders Pacquiao, Williams, Clottey, Margarito or Cotto, instead letting Pac clean out the division and then cherry picking Cotto only after he was a spent shell destroyed by Margo and Pac. Typical Floyd nutsack licker spin.

Ah, no. The point is how many American WHITES are showing up and supporting White Fighters?

First, name me all the Top White American Fighters.

Then, show me all the white supporters that are flooding there fights.

Then, follow it up with White Americans showing up to watch European White FIghters.

Whites tend to spend more money on such events as well so it should be relatively easy for you, right?

Stop with the excuses already.

I don’t care how many whites you’ve heard or claim to have heard say this or that.

Stop deflecting.

That said, if Floyd think he is the best, he needs to prove it. He can do that by Fighting the overall best, Wladimir Klitschko.

A very good, truthful article. Regardless of the accuracy and the truth of the history of Mayweather, there are those who will continue to hate the man no matter what he does. These people just do not want to “see” the truth. If Mayweather wins next Saturday, I’m curious as to what the “haters” will say.

Posted September 6, 2013 12:51 pm

All time ordinary

All time claims will not win new fans but will create new detractors. Emotions are fine but don’t push them for arguments. Floyd is very good but all time great he is not regardless of the hype.

How about GGG move up to 168 or stick with fighting fighters at MW.

The guy doesn’t even fight at JrMW. At least come down and fight there to help make the “ducker” claim more valid. Because as of now, you are a MW Champion.

Let them all list fighter past 35 years old that have remained on a high level and continued to be successful? It’s rare. And Floyd has all the intelligence and tools that is needed to continue success past 35 but even Father-Time has caught up with him. He isn’t quite the same as he use to be and even a few years ago he was already on the slide. But his I.Q., boxing skills and work ethic remain and he hasn’t been in brutal collision fights to the point he is damaged goods so he can remain quality. But even that fades. And they want this guy to give up Size and Weight at this stage? Come on. It’s not quite fair.

There are fighters I’m not big on and I wouldn’t have them move up like that.

There are fighters at 168 who could have moved up to 175 and haven’t. There are fighters at 160 who could have moved up and haven’t.

And of course, there have been HOF fighters who stood in one division, sometimes two, and that was it.

Oscardeballerina:

NO, I’m saying there are fans that believe he is avoiding the MW fighters and its ridiculous. Floyd is 150 walk around and yet they want him to lose so bad that he has to fight the MWs or he is a ducker. He shouldn’t even be fighting in the jrMW division. The size difference is obvious. Add on that he is 36 years old, and now having to face Younger and BIGGER fighters at jrMW, why would he even bother in that division?

Why are fans demanding Floyd take on fighters that will outweigh him by 20 pounds???

I guess that tells you how good the guy is for fans to demand him to fight such bigger guys.

I got one: How about fighters start showing up at the natural weight and fight others that are the same weight on fight-night.

Same day weigh-ins. Make it happen.

So NOW Floyd is DUCKING Lara?

Posted September 6, 2013 12:16 pm

I know who Floyd the Mouth would never get into the ring with right now; Erislandy Lara! He has all the right tools to not only beat him but possibly beat his aging arse into a pulp. Anyone out there see Lara break tough-guy Angulo’s fackin’ face?! I would like to see the boxing community begin to demand this matchup. After he defends his WBA Super World light middleweight strap against Howdy Doody he should then fight the real best jr. middle, E. Lara.

And if Pac wanted more than 40 million that Floyd offered, he should have left Arum because there was no way Floyd was going to allow Arum a take on the promotional money like he wanted. What for? Neither Pac and Floyd needed Arum.

Sergio is the MW Champion. Explain to me why Floyd shoudl fight the MW Champion when even Sergio recently admitted that that fight most likely won’t happen because of the size issue.

Floyd is avoiding Martinez and GGG. Floyd is avoiding War.

Floyd shouldn’t even be fighting at JrMW. He should stay at WW and fight JrMW (since by fight time they are the same size as Floyd) and WW.

I don’t recall anyone saying Mayweather was ducking Guerrero. I remember people saying that Guerrero had a 0% chance of winning and was a pointless fight, myself included, but never that he was being ducked. Leonard also ducked a prime Hagler and admitted so himself. The difference is that Mayweather pulls every excuse he can find out of his behind for ducking Pac. He’ll never admit he was a teeny, tiny bit scared. Mayweather has also ducked many more than just Pac.

You can write BS like this all you want, but it doesn’t change the facts. EVERYONE, in boxing, including 50 cent knows without a doubt, Little Floyd is scared chitless of Pacquiao, and will not go near a boxing ring if Pacquiao is in it. Your BS article will have no effect on this truth. Furthermore, Little Floyd’s legacy will be based on his Running and Dodging Manny Pacquiao for years. He can’t run from it.

You know what really gets me about this?. The fact that Little Floyd has an excellent chance to beat Pacquiao. It’s the cowardice that makes me sick. Little Floyd doesn’t have the stones to fight Pacquiao.

It is funny, before the fight was made it was talked about and it was talked about as if Floyd was going to avoid Canelo. You heard the HBO people led by Merchant and Lapley saying Floyd would avoid Canelo at all costs. You had some Pros saying Canelo was a bit to big but still gave the edge to Floyd if it did happen. Ok. Cool. But the fans, hahaha, the fans crushed Floyd before the fight was made by saying there is no way in hell Floyd would be fighting Canelo. And then, when Floyd announced the fight, shock went through the fans psyche and then all of a sudden you had a mix crowd with some saying Floyd was forced to take the fight. Others said Floyd taking Canelo now because Canelo is young etc. etc. etc. And others bashing Canelo as if he was nothing all of a sudet just because if you continue to respect and or hype Canelo up (depending on who is saying what), it gives Floyd more credit if victorious.
