yeah stuck even though this fight was shorter than the time it takes to pop popcorn in the microwave. Mitchell actually did land a few shots. So I mean he got destroyed but he didn’t necessarily do a Andrew golota and freeze up. For the first minite and a half you probably thought it would’ve been a good fight. I predicted a Arreola Ko but I thought it would probably come in the 3rd.Posted September 9, 2013 3:22 pm
@Te Tumbo – Hatton wasnt glass chinned, he only got ko’d twice, and then only by the top 2 P4P Fighters, and above his Jr Welter weight as well.Posted September 9, 2013 1:56 pm

A game Mitchell? What?Posted September 9, 2013 1:52 pm

Yuri Foreman would send Seth to the canvas. No chin in the heavyweight division? Look for a soft place to land during the instructions…Posted September 9, 2013 11:46 am
Wilder is a brawler too, so why not fight him? Wilder hasnt exactly shown great footwork, defensive capabilities or slickness, and there are question marks over his chin, stamina, defense and heart which Arreola would surely answer. We know where Chisora is at, because he has been in with name fighters like Vitali, Helenius, Haye, Fury, Sexton, Williams and Scott, whereas Wilder has been in with rank nobodies and two totally shot fighters.Posted September 9, 2013 9:57 am

As much as I like Chris, that’s a realistic viewpoint…Posted September 9, 2013 9:31 am
Mitchell seems like a classy guy, but he is not going to learn the game at his age. He had a good run, and, hopefully made some money, but he gets hurt every time he gets hit hard. He has courage, but can’t seem to win at top level. Too bad, as, again, he seems a nice guy. If Arreola meets Wilder, I think I’d pick Wilder. He has good power and Arreola can be hit. One has to wonder if Wilder is more than a three round fighter, but will Arreola be in good enough shape to test him?Posted September 9, 2013 7:50 am
Turbo…………spot on. A skilled tall heavy with power is doom for Arreola. We know Wilder has the height/reach and power but does he have the skill to keep it at distance. Hopefully we all get to see them both face each other.Posted September 9, 2013 3:52 am
Man that was on point!Posted September 9, 2013 2:26 am
I don`t think it is intensity with Arreola it is just the level of his opponent.
But it creates a false impression of his abilities.
I can`t believe Eddie Chambers never jumped at the chance to fight Arreola when he was at heavy, he is the kind of guy a talnted boxer can look very good against.
Would Wilder beat Arreola – I think it is a very good chance because
1 – You hit Arreola and he just keeps doing exactly the same thing only angrier
I seriously think the best thing for Arreola is to stick to the brawlers subcircuit of heavies – guys like Mago, Chisora, people who will play the game.Posted September 9, 2013 2:13 am
Also rumours of grano and lawrencePosted September 9, 2013 2:00 am
It wont be either guy. There is no way stiverne will give up his title shot. Why would he. I suspect that Chris will do his normal and following up his win with a fight against a few bumsPosted September 9, 2013 1:59 am
Y couldnt arreola fight stivern with the same intensity he fought mitchell? Trust me wilder is not mitchell. Even though he is unproven the guy is 29-0 w 29 ko. Thats impressive i dont care who you are fighting. Plus unlike chris, wilder is always in shape ready to fight! Wilder will k.o. arreola if they even fightPosted September 9, 2013 1:26 am
Wilder vs Arreola would be an awesome match up if wilder gets in the ring. Stiverne has proven himself the better man in the ring against arreola, wilder is still untested.Posted September 8, 2013 11:40 pm
Slater & his use of nick names LOLPosted September 8, 2013 11:09 pm
Right.., This fight doesn’t change anything for Arreola.
He beat a guy who is totally lacking in some basic skills. For one thing, Mitchell’s basic stance is screwed up. His shoulders are out of alignment with his hips. This forces him to hunch his left shoulder so he can’t really relax right. He’s just completely messed up all the way around. This is the first good right hand puncher he’s faced so he desperately needs a new trainer — just like Wladimir did at one time.Posted September 8, 2013 9:52 pm
I actually kind of like Arreola, he`s funny, he wears his heart on his sleeve, he comes to mix it up, and he adds a bit of diversity to the heavyweight mix.
BUT….he is a big fat stupid potato.
He`s lost three fights and with each one we hear the same refrain about beating himself, and knowing what he needs to change, but he doesn`t ever really change – except having his weight fluctuate a few lbs.
He`s a brawler, with a poor defence and a good chin who can take out people who are suscpetible to a fairly basic pressure attack.
That attack has failed on several fronts though – against Vitali he lacked the mobility or intelligence to do anything other than walk into jab after jab, against Adamek he lacked the mobility to force Adamek to engage, and against Stiverne he got outslugged and outboxed at different times.
KO’ing Mitchell doesn`t erase any of this. Jonathan Banks KO’ed Mitchell not so long ago, the guy was low hanging fruit.
He`s Mexican though, so the WBC will try to find some way of giving him the title.Posted September 8, 2013 9:21 pm
te tumbo called it. the man knows his boxing. get out of this sport, mitchell.Posted September 8, 2013 5:47 pm
should have read OUTGUN his opponents and not outrun!!!!Posted September 8, 2013 5:40 pm
Arreola still needs to tighten-up that defense. that’s the flaw that Stiverne was exploiting all fight long. minimal head-movement made Arreola easy to hit with sudden leads and counters. in fact, as brief as his win v. Mitchell was last night, he still got Dinged with a couple of stinging powershots and i’m wondering just how many more of those Arreola can simply shrug-off? IMO, if Arreola can not defeat Stiverne in a rematch, he can’t be considered a serious contender and i think Arreola agrees. Wilder can fight Mitchell. if they both continue winning, they’re bound to meet in the near future.

Unfortunately Arreola is what he is. I really don’t think he will ever learn to tighten his defense up. If he hasn’t done it by now then it will never be corrected. Once he gets hit he would go straight back to his old form.Posted September 8, 2013 3:16 pm

I do suspect Wilder hasn’t got the chin to take Arreola’s punch but he’s line of defence is his right hand. Since Wilder has a reach advantage and is a lot faster than Arreola he gets to Land his punch first, though Arreola has got a granite chin, it just wouldn’t hold up. Wilder by KO before round 6. If the fight goes beyond 6 rounds due to Wilder being unable to hurt or put Arreola away, then the fight could end up in Arreola’s favour.Posted September 8, 2013 2:59 pm
Well Arreola was winning until he got his nose broke. Remember Marquez vs Vasquez. Vasquez had his nose broke and he quit. In the rematch with out a broken nose the whole fight was different. So it could turn out different. If he showed up in the shape he showed up in last night it could be a different outcome.Posted September 8, 2013 2:22 pm
Stiverne didn’t look great against Arreola just good enough to win. A in shape Arreolo with no broken nose could beat Stiverne.Posted September 8, 2013 1:42 pm
wilder ducked chisora to serve as a sparring partner for david haye who he is helping brush up on his rabbit punching skills wilder is an inside jokePosted September 8, 2013 1:13 pm
The American HWs are not good anyway. They died off in the 90′s.
Looking forward to seeing who the Europeans come up with which hasn’t been impressive either.
I watched some of the top amateur fighters from different parts of Europe and some seem good. Yet, why don’t they go Pro???
I don’t know. Maybe with the no head gear policy soon to be implanted in the Olympics that it will get fighters more confident to just turn pro.Posted September 8, 2013 12:37 pm
Thompson won’t draw a crowed in the USA. Wilder and Arreola have a much better chance.Posted September 8, 2013 12:35 pm
PEEJ you got to remember that Arreolla was pretty lucky that he got decked just before the bell. I think Stivern could have stopped Arreolla if wasn’t saved by the bell.Posted September 8, 2013 12:15 pm
I doubt there is much call for a Stivern rematch, Stivern beat Arreola fair and square last time out.
??? winner fight wlad, please, thompson is still the alpha wolf in USA.Posted September 8, 2013 12:09 pm
Wilder vs. Arreola. Winner fights Wlad in the States next year.
That’s something Wlad has wanted…to get back in the STates with a big fight.Posted September 8, 2013 11:56 am
Why would you think Stivern would KO Arreola inside of 8 when he couldn’t do it before when Arreola had a broken nose? I think a rematch with Arreola and Stivern would be a good fight but won’t happen at the moment while Stivern is waiting on Vitali.Posted September 8, 2013 11:48 am
Stiverne deserves his shot with Vitali. Arreola may give Wlad a few wrinkles by his relentlessness.Posted September 8, 2013 11:36 am
I would like to see him fight wilder. Stiverne deserves his title shot. And arrello would be fun and show which americain heavy is the bestPosted September 8, 2013 11:06 am
Wilder hasn’t beat ANYONE why to people claim him a world beater? How easily you all get brainwashed. I can’t believe how many people have climbed onto the bus of illusion known as Deontay Wilder when he’s cracked out bums, has beens and mentally I’ll fighters. They have all been hand picked to make this guy look good and fierce. Wake up! You are buying into a hype job that is going to get hurt BAD if he fights a battle test warrior like Arreola!!!!Posted September 8, 2013 11:04 am
Arreola didn’t prove anything last night. Stiverne or Wilder crush him inside of 8 rounds. Title shot? LOL, Dont think so, if Vitali or Vlad need a sparring partner he might get a call, that’s the only way he gets in the ring with those guys.Posted September 8, 2013 10:53 am
Don’t think Stivern will happen, I get the feeling he is going to wait to see if he can get Vitali in the ring or wait and fight for the vacant belt.Posted September 8, 2013 10:29 am

ARREOLA COULD BE ANOTHER LEGEND LIKE BUTTERBEAN.Posted September 8, 2013 7:36 am
Arreola should stay clear of Stiverne if he still wants to keep boxing. If he takes another beating like he took in his fight with Stiverne, his fans will have to give up their life savings to help him out with his hospital bills and I’m not even sure if that’s going to be enough. A second fight with Stiverne ends in a KO, but unfortunately in favour of the Haitian/Canadian.Posted September 8, 2013 7:33 am
Whp wrote this article, arreola’s mom. He should not have even been in this fight after the the complete and devastating loss to Stiverne. What world are we living in, that a loss sets you up for a title match in your next outing?Posted September 8, 2013 7:02 am
GBP is not going to let Wilder any where near a dangerous HW like Arreola.Posted September 8, 2013 6:58 am
