PUBLIC ENEMY MATTHYSSE CANELO MOLINA CANOPosted September 14, 2013 10:15 am
Fight Aficionado – the only one that looked like a walking dead man was Canelo who looked like they just found his dehydrated corpse out in the desert somewhere.. His face looked sunken in and his lips all cracked and parched.. he’ll be lucky to survive 6 rounds…Posted September 14, 2013 8:46 am
Old Yank, I don’t think Garcia’s sticking to his stated plan of backing Matthysse up. Once he gets popped he’ll go into retreat. Don’t know WTF Al Bernstein was talking about at the weigh in today but Garcia is not the more accomplished boxer. He can’t fight going backwards and he sure as hell can’t out-muscle Lucas. Garcia is a dead man walking.Posted September 14, 2013 1:13 am
Titopa — You make sense as well (as you usually do). But Garcia can’t fight the plan he’s announced (backing Matthysse up) and Matthysse having to reach to find Garcia. The logic just can’t jump that wide a gap. There is no reaching necessary to find a guy coming to back you up!Posted September 13, 2013 9:32 pm
You’ll bother posting — but won’t bother watching???
You’re an idiot.., This is the best fight of the night — or the year.Posted September 13, 2013 6:47 pm
Matthysse – brutal KO in round one. Bet on it.Posted September 13, 2013 4:48 pm
Prediction: Garcia gets KTFO.Posted September 13, 2013 4:24 pm
Old Yank – You make some solid points, and I am NOT arguing the fact that Matthysse can “swiftly” turn the lights off on Garcia, that goes without saying. But I just feel that Matthysse (from what I’ve seen and read) is relying solely on his power, not to say he’ll get sloppy and wild, but whether he wants to believe it it not, that mentality can easily put him into a position (figuratively and physically) where he’s reaching for a knockout, and that doesn’t bold well for ANY fighter, at this level. I also feel that Garcia is the more experienced fighter, we’ve seen him have to dig deep (Judah), we’ve seen him have to adjust to a crafty fighter (Morales I) and we’ve seen him deal with an in and out speedster (Khan) and he’s ALWAYS found a way to win, as where Matthysse has fought 2 of his 3 highest level fights (Judah, Alexander & Peterson) to close disputable losses…that’s just my opinion.Posted September 13, 2013 3:28 pm

Titopa — We get to watch fighters as they come into their own and we also get to watch some looking like they are coming into their own only to slip and fall short of expectations. For my eyes I’ve seen significant progress in Matthysse’s approach to a fight. He looks to me like a fighter coming into his own.
I like Danny a lot. He is the little engine that could — he just keeps working on his game and although not stunning in any individual skill, he’s got a lot of everything (and the little things) working right for him.
But this might be coming down to something as simple as which fighter has his stars aligned from a momentum and career timing point of view. With the odds of a draw truly tiny for this bout, we can rest assured that someone is going to win and someone is going to lose.
I can almost guarantee you that Garcia’s “Leonard v Duran #1″ ego/mentality has him convinced that backing Matthysse up with jabs and left hooks is the way to go – working the body along the way. Leonard had NO BUSINESS allowing his ego to dictate fighting a stupid fight. And Danny is about to allow his ego to dictate fighting a stupid fight.
I can see in my mind’s eye the Matthysse counter hook (or simultaneous hook but with more power) that stops Garcia’s plan dead in its tracks.
Matthysse has vastly improved in his use of angles and more importantly for Saturday night, in his timing.
Danny is going home early Saturday night. The fans and the odds-makers have got this one nailed and I do not see the upset probability as very high.Posted September 13, 2013 3:10 pm
Public Enemy – Yup! I am also predicting a Floyd TKO stoppage. As for Garcia, I can’t help but to see him catching Matthysse with a hard shot that’ll either freeze him or put him down, I know Matthysse packs power, but remember that he hasn’t always been able to land that shot at the elite level, other than Peterson, which other top rated 140lber has he stopped? Sure, he dropped Judah and Alexander, but went on to lose disputable decisions, as where Garcia’s has stopped guys like Mike Arnaoutis, Erik Morales (Maidana couldn’t do it), Amir Khan and he convincingly beat Judah. I think he’s being overlooked just cause Matthysse is a monstrous puncher, but Garcia’s not gonna give him his chin.Posted September 13, 2013 2:38 pm

titopa – I believe mayweather will easily out box and possibly stop canelo.. I believe Danny can pull off an upset but if he gets caught flush it could be lights out.. but I’ll go with my Homeboy and predict a Danny UD win in a very tough back and forth fight..Posted September 13, 2013 1:01 pm
Prediction: Matthysse by KO within 8 rounds. Amino 4500 power! LOL.Posted September 13, 2013 12:48 pm
Garcia is once again being under estimated. Forget about his crazy nut case father, Danny is a good fighter with good experience and an excellent amateur pedigree. He can box when he has to, but he has power. Hook for hook, I’ll take Danny’s any day of the week. Matthysse has been beaten, yes he’s om a hot streak, and Danny didn’t look great vs southpaw Judah, but this is a good style for Danny. I think he can pull this one off. Unfortunately, we will have to hear his crazy father non stop for 24 hours.Posted September 13, 2013 12:46 pm
Potentially a great fight and I think Matthysse is gonna win by stoppage.Posted September 13, 2013 12:25 pm
Public Enemy – What’s your official prediction? Mine is Garcia: I would like Matthysse ti win, he’s good for boxing and…who doesn’t love a KO artist? With that said, I just think Matthysse is a bit too overconfident in his power, sure, it’s brutal, but if he thinks all he has to do it land, then he’s in trouble. I think Garcia knows what he’s up against, he knows the task that awaits and I think he’s gonna use all his tools to lure Matthysse into a big shot, I’m going with Garica via TKO, I even see Garcia having to get up off the canvas to do so.Posted September 13, 2013 11:50 am

Matthysse ‘the man with the reverse mullet’ will destroy Garcia easily. This fight will be over fast.Posted September 13, 2013 7:56 am
Lucas inside 3 rounds. Probably first or second round. Danny is gonna be wiped out in double quick time.Posted September 13, 2013 7:54 am
Matthysse by knockout!!! His punches are shorter, he is quicker, harder to hit, his stamina is much superior, his left hook is much better as well as his right. Matthysse is extremely underrated.Posted September 13, 2013 1:42 am
