When is the last time Floyd CRUSHED anyone???
OK.., Floyd stopped V. Ortiz with a couple of “Please-Hit-Me” punches. Ortiz let Floyd hit him …. Josesito Lopez also stopped Ortiz, and Canelo crushed Josesito Lopez like he was a flyweight.

It appears that experts are counting Canelo to gas out and Mayweather will pull it off, not that Mayweather is so much better then the young 23 yr old. I think Canelo got a good nutritionous and got his stamina in check. He did very well he fought Trout and Trout did well on taking the fight to Canelo thinking he would gas out late and he got dropped. I don’t think Mayweather will take that chance. Mayweather will do his usual MO to pot shot and draw Canelo into a running contest to get him winded trying to land those big shot. it will be up to Canelo to slow the pace and make Mayweather fight. Mayweather is not lighting fast, just quick and Canelo can catch him if he take his time and wait for the pot shot, Mayweather does not throw Combos he haven’t threw them since being at WW.Posted September 14, 2013 10:01 am

If the fight is close enough for a draw, Canelo will win all day long.Posted September 13, 2013 10:42 pm
I predict Mayweather will win by a late stoppage, around round 11 or 12. I could be wrong, BUT I DON’T THINK SO! ‘Cause it’s a jungle out there.Posted September 13, 2013 10:20 pm
a “Draw” suits nobody. either professionally or politically, but neither does a lopsided win for either fighter, and i seriously doubt that can be arranged. the results of this fight will be legit and illuminating because i’m convinced that both fighters are determined to win. i detect no fear or remorse in either fighter and at least one of them will be too good to settle for a “Draw”. 22-1 sounds about right. a “Draw” is highly unlikely.Posted September 13, 2013 10:18 pm

“Hidalgo — Neither Mosley or Alvarez fought 3 minutes of every round!”
Dino, don’t take what I say so literally. No fighter fights every second of every round. But in his fight with Mosley, Canelo was taking big long obvious breaks like he did in his fight with Trout. Alvarez fought very well against Shane Mosley. I can’t help it if you don’t know that.Posted September 13, 2013 9:53 pm

That won’t happen Dave… They are both boxers.
It will be a repeat of Canelo-Trout as far as head clashes. Not a massive amount of infighting.
It could easily be a 114-114 draw.Posted September 13, 2013 7:12 pm
It might be a draw but not for the way it was described. It’s more likely Canelo will be cut before the fourth (possibly ahead) but because it will be before the round ends, it will be a draw. Canelo fans will say he was winning, Floyd fans will say he was warming up and they will have a rematchPosted September 13, 2013 6:55 pm
The fight could easily be a draw.., Because championship fights should be either 11 or 13 rounds. With 12 round fights you’re begging for draws.
Of course when a fight threatens to be a draw, you often see judges push the 12th round into the wrong boxer’s column… Like Duane Ford did in both the Hopkins-Taylor 1 and Pacquiao-Bradley fights. That way you avoid draws … and get horrendous, title changing decisions.Posted September 13, 2013 5:53 pm
RAY!! Hope you re well, Sheriff Ray. Well, I’ll agree that Matthysse is on a roll and seems to be the man to pick. Danny’s boxing skills just don’t convince me enough and might find himself in more exchanges than he should. But.. I think Floyd will win this one. TJ, ooops, hit the ‘Say It’ by accident.
TJ, yes, the scores are similar BUT… I believe that Floyd fought a 37 year YOUNG version Mosley who defeated Margarito impressively in his previous fight. Either a lucky punch or speed + high volume punching is how u beat Mayweather. Canelo lacks elite level stamina – his only real chance is trying to land the KO. PAC had the hand speed and was a high volume puncher so wud hav had a great chance. Even so, still looking forward to tomorrow, shud b a brilliant event.Posted September 13, 2013 4:51 pm
A draw cud b a good bet. I still fancy Mayweather by easyish UD tho. Even this fairly shot version of Manny Pacquiao wud still probably be Floyd’s toughest fight.Posted September 13, 2013 4:38 pm

If canelo s team has relized that floyd loves the straight right hand he lands at will even without setting it up with a jab and take some of that away and they relize mayweather knows the second half of the fight counts more than the first half, just like the haton and golden boy , oscar fights, and canelo saves the best for last and keeps the first 6 close and canelo figures out a wsy to land shots around floyds gaurd then canelo can win. Floyd does the same thing every fight and he is very effective at it thou… canelo can win this fight if he fights the best fight of his life and had a
Are we going to try to make a fantasy fly that there is little chance of Alvarez showing any signs of fatigue? That story is better suited for Rocky XXX then Saturday night!Posted September 13, 2013 4:05 pm
I see right through this, a draw? they make a ton in the first one, why not do it again. With a draw they both keep the ( 0 ) and with another fight they can squeeeeeze as much as they can from fight fans. Nicely done.Posted September 13, 2013 4:04 pm
Hidalgo — Neither Mosley or Alvarez fought 3 minutes of every round! A shop-worn Mosley gave Alvarez opportunity after opportunity to take a mini-vacation during any number of rounds. What fight were you watching?Posted September 13, 2013 4:02 pm
Mike J — You could be right!Posted September 13, 2013 4:00 pm
Alvarez proved in his fight with Mosley that he he had great boxing skills, that he was willing to go toe to toe, that he could fight a full three minutes of twelve full rounds, that he could take a punch, and that he got hit too muchs–still he proved to be sufficiently durable and unflappable.
In his fight with Guerrero Floyd proved that he still runs (yes he literally hops, darts and dodges all over the ring)–just like he did against Baldomir– and still relies on excessive clinching to negate the offense/aggression of some fighters.
This fight could end in a draw. But it won’t. But no matter how it ends, a rematch would be in order. I think. Unless there’s a devastating knockout by either man or a lopsided well-fought UD.Posted September 13, 2013 3:58 pm
A draw would be LOL. I thought the odds on that were 22/1?Posted September 13, 2013 3:55 pm
@Old Yank – Canelo’s stamina will be the biggest weakness Mayweather exploits. Mayweather’s best punch in the fight will be the jab to the stomach and his lead left hook.Posted September 13, 2013 3:52 pm
Ooh what if Canelo can time his straight rand to perfection , it wont be quicker than Floyds, but is a shot that he has………could be something??Posted September 13, 2013 3:52 pm
Could it happen? Of course, anything can happen in boxing. Will it? I sincerely doubt it. A draw usually comes about where both fighters land an equal amount of punches and there is no real aggressor or winner. I dont see it…Posted September 13, 2013 3:48 pm
With over 192,000 fans participating in the ESPN poll, 3% see a draw. The fool who gets suckered into a 10/1 draw bet is indeed a fool!
Unless Mayweather gets hurt early, I don’t see how Canelo picks up points in the second half.
Mayweather makes fighters miss — the shot looks like it’s there and then it’s gone. Missing shots burns a lot of energy. Stamina is not Canelo’s strong suit — in fact he’s got a habit of taking mini-vacations during rounds in order to regulate his gas tank. And in these mini-vacation moments is where Mayweather will be taking pot shots and, heaven forbid, using lead right hands. And if you see Mayweather having any success with his lead right hand, turn up the volume because the fat lady is singing!Posted September 13, 2013 3:48 pm
Canelo has to win big just to get a draw…no way it can happen any decision will go to Mayweather (not that he needs the judges help) Canelo has to completely dominate in order to win a decisionPosted September 13, 2013 3:47 pm
See Floyd getting rocked but not knocked out. Even after getting rocked I see him boxing more intelligently using a lot angles and footwork eventually frustrating Canelo with his hit and not get hit tactic, Canelo then tries to force the action and the gasses letting Floyd to take full control of the fight. 116-114 UD Floyd.Posted September 13, 2013 3:44 pm
If this ends in a draw, we’ve been set up! Look how much money Pacquiao and Marquez has made. O-oPosted September 13, 2013 3:43 pm

Funny that so many are sleeping on Canelo. No one seems to remember Canelo -Mosely and May – Mosley fights. Canelo looked better vs Mosely than May did. THIS fight will be CLOSE. I see Canelo landing an awkward looking counter hook that shakes May in the early rounds, then again 2 rounds later. May recoups and pot shots from the outside, ties up Canelo whenever he tries to get aggressive, until Canelo starts to box and forces May to chase HIM instead… Late rounds end up being very close,
