Wow thanks author, I’m sure that’s an original tactic (sarcastic)! Mayweather won’t react on feints, he’s fast enough to react only when he knows the punch is a real one. Besides, setting and then feinting from Alvarez will only lose him the chance to throw a genuine shot. Floyd will counter-attack the same as he always has and Mosley proved that only very rarely will Floyd be open to a perfect punch. Feinting from Alvarez will make landing that unique shot all the more unlikely.

Can Man is cracking up in the cover photo. Tark, now you see who is the bigger guy you nit wit. I told you Lloyd would be the bigger guy in the center of the ring or at weigh in. His extra inch and a half shows now, don’t it. Lloyd got what he wanted with the catch weight, and emaciated Canelo.

Come on people, don’t try and make Canelo Alvarez some monster that has ripped through the division and beaten the best guys out there. The reality is that he is an untested, young strong boxer that has potential, but he’s not anything special right now. Maybe he can be a great one as his career continues win or lose, but to elevate him to some legendary status at this time is way off base. He’s not made in the mold of past agressive Mexican fighters like JC Chavez Sr, Ruben Olivares, Barrera, Morales and many other Mexican legends. He’s a light skinned, red headed, freckled face kid that has the hollwood looks, and females are flocking to see him. Most of those fans are paying more attention to all the hype then the actual skill, ability and quality of experience Canelo has. He has talent, and a lot of fans supporting him, but truth be told, he’s way out of his league in this match up. Canelo’s style of fighting plays right into Floyd Mayweather’s hands. This will be a boring chess match for 12 rounds. Floyd will not fight Canelo. Canelo is stepping into the ring for his first big time fight against a proven, skilled athletic boxer that has more versatility, speed, experience and fights a defensive fight from the get go. As I’ve stated before, I hope I’m wrong and Canelo finds a way to beat Floyd Mayweather, but it’s going to take a miracle, which i also believe in. Let’s se what happens.

“Tonight, as always, he wants to frustrate Canelo so the young strong Mexican strength is nullified.’

Paul, I think we’ll see that without any need for Floyd to attempt to frustrate Canelo. The extra two pounds Canelo had to burn off will take effect on Canelo as the fight wears on.

As for the rest of your analysis I agree that Canelo “will have to throw multiple punch combinations. He needs to throw more than two or even three punch combinations.”

At all costs, Alvarez must not follow or chase Floyd around the ring. Floyd likes to push and pull his opponents around the ring much like the tide of the ocean plays with a floating piece of wood as it nears the shore. When Floyd starts backing towards the ropes Canelo should stand his ground in the middle of the ring. When Floyd starts pressing him, Canelo should do as Floyd does and hop, duck, dodge, or run out of his way.

Some say Canelo is flat-footed. That may be, but he’s not heavy-footed and there is a difference. Canelo can move quite well. He has good footwork.
Canelo must establish, from the very first round, that he will not play Floyd’s game. Now, saying that is much easier than doing it because it’s Floyd’s ability to frustrate his opponents that makes them foolishly chase him around the ring or fall into any of his little traps. In other words, Canelo should try to pull a Floyd on Floyd. De la Hoya demonstrated the type of strategy that can work against Floyd. But, that was then and this is now. Floyd learns from every fight just as every fighter does.

My bet is the effort to burn off the extra two pounds will start to take it’s toll on Canelo around the sixth or seventh round. This will be Canelo’s greatest frustration. And it may frustrate him into an embarrassing loss.
