Public enemy ; If U were constantly being head butted Just what tactic would u use besides pushing hie head down. I started out on Garcia’s side & still think he lost. so much for different opinions.

Garcia is a beast. Angel had Khan figured out weeks before that fight and Danny did exactly what Angel said he would. Garcia is learning on the job and learning fast. I still think he should have two or three more fights before stepping up to fight Floyd. Garcia was behind on the cards after 6 rounds when Matthysses eye got swollen shut.
He boxed a perfect fight and beat a super tough opponent in Matthysse. I see B-Hop’s reference to his fight with Trinidad in 2001.

Should Garcia and Matthysse fight ten times I see them winning 4 fights each with 2 draws. At 147, Garcia beats Matthysse.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Floyd MUST fight Garcia and PacMan at WW and 3G at 154lbs in order to prove he’s the best of his generation. Over-hyped Fights with china-chinned Khan and feather-fisted Alexander would be an absolute JOKE at this point.

IMO…the greatest fighter of his generation is Vitali Klitschko. Never been behind on the cards, never touched the canvas, never ducked anyone, and his two losses are total FLUKES.

“Vitali Klitschko won the vast majority of rounds and was heading towards a comprehensive points victory when he suffered a serious shoulder injury. After the 9th round, Klitschko notified his corner that he had a severe shoulder pain and threw in the towel, thus handing Klitschko his first defeat and awarding Byrd the win by technical knockout. At the time of the stoppage, Klitschko had a lead on all three judges’ scorecards (89–82, and 88–83 twice). Klitschko, who was later diagnosed with a TORN ROTATOR CUFF.”

Then VK outboxed the great Lewis, almost knocked him out 2-3 times, and forced LL into retirement at just 37-years-old. Vitali is the greatest fighter of his generation — NOT FMJ. Floyd lost his fist fight to Castillo and has ducked great fighters when they where still in their primes. He continued to outright duck PacMan and will never fight the best at 154lbs. Therefore, he can’t be the greatest of his generation — I don’t care now much money he makes. That’s totally irrelevant when it come to ranking the ATGs.

TARK

Tumbo.., “If Garcia defeats the likes of a Guerrero, Maidana, or Soto Karass”

Forget that.., He beat Matthysse. A guy with much more prestige. Garcia is the best opponent for Floyd at this particular time. Garcia can easily hold 147 … and one hard left hook on Floyd’s chin could change history.

Everybody was talking about Floyd vs Matthysse… but Danny wins and he gets no shot???

DEXTER MORGAN that was a funny rant. I was mad about how the Matthysse fight went down only. Didn’t really care about Floyd-Canelo, other than I’d hoped for a better action fight but expected a boring one. That’s what we got but we bought the PPV for the undercard.

Even with all Garcia’s dirty tactics, I had Matthysse up 1 point with the Refs lack of point deductions which should have been deducted.

Garcia should b in line nxt R mayweather. A zero near his name and beatn gd competition of late…4get Khan and Manny….loosing 2 out of 3 fights doest warrant a shot at the no.1 pnd 4 pnd guy..

“4 for 4 on the night. Just ANOTHER dat at the OFFICE for the Great ONE! ” – BoxFool aka WrongAssmundo just stop. You predicted Lucas by KO just like I did. You did so in multiple threads and denying that simply confirms the many other times you lied about your predictions.

Posted September 15, 2013 6:51 pm

Fight Aficionado

Garcia won a clearcut decision but I’m not happy with the excessive head butting nut shots and holding the incompetent ref let him get away with. When a boxer blatantly breaks the rules he needs to be punished or else it changes the fight. Had Garcia not been able to hold every single time Matthysse got inside he’d have been KOed. He held at least 140 times in 12 rounds. Deduct points and he’d have to stop. And he smashed Matthysse in the balls 4 times before a point was deducted. WTF?

Posted September 15, 2013 6:40 pm

Stopping fights to replace the bloody gumsheild when that fighter is obviously rocked and it’s a key moment in the fight is total bollocks. That said, Garcia showed solid punch resistance, good power and (for me, his best attribute) excellent timing.

Posted September 15, 2013 6:21 pm

Best fight of the nite,Garcia was the deserved winner but it was close IMO. He even acknowledged Matthysse hit him with good shots. But he took them better then i expected. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch.

Garcia fought a smart fight. Matthysse got beat convincingly. But he is still the one with better potential. He needs a proper trainer. He seems to fight on pure instinct right now. If he doesn’t get a proper trainer real soon, people will continue to school him.

No. They screwed up with their PHP script or Python, HTML5 or something. It’s definately a logical error in their coding of the forum script.

I think I know why ESB tells us to not to post so fast and to slow down?

It has something to do with simultaneous posts and is more likely to occur in a hot thread.

Just a hunch but it is wise to make a copy of any long post.

I predicted all fights CORRECTLY. Give up the HATING I’ve been telling everyone all along I’m just simply the GREATEST fight prophet EVER born!!!!. Last night just CEMENTS my legacy and PROVES to the world what I’ve been saying for YEARS!!!

I honestly thought no one could have taken Mathysse’s shots but Danny ate them like M & M’s… He is one tough cat… Man his chin is unreal… That punch that made his mouth piece fly into the crowd and hit Adrian Broner in the face would have put almost anyone to sleep… Both Danny and Mathysse are 2 tough and strong mofo’s. I can see now why punk ass Broner chose to move up in weight class than fight either of those 2… I think Danny should stay clear of Mayweather as he is not ready for him and honestly no one is. I would like to see Danny vs. the winner of Alvarado Vs. Provodnokov then later on the winner of Pacman vs. Rios.

Even though Canelo got schooled last night I thought he scored some good body shots on Mayweather..I want to see Danny Garcia vs Robert Guerrero next

I said it before and I’ll say it again. We as Philadelphian’s believe in and support our city similar to the foreign fighters support their countries. We will fight to the death for what we believe in, which showed in Danny’s performance. Give him his proper respect (props) whether you like him or not. Lucas also fought a valiant fight and should be applauded for such, even though he came up short. Lucas will go on to knock out plenty other fighters and ill be there to watch. Unfortunately, Danny was not the one! Now let’s all give the sweet science an applause.

i never cited “luck” as the reason for Garcia’s recent ascent. all along he displayed remarkable poise, stamina, and timing. he’s now derailed two very dangerous contenders (Khan and Mathysse) along with two old warhorses (Judah and Morales), which settles it. Danny is the best at 140lbs and may have to consider 147lbs for new challenges. perhaps even a payday (if not a win) v. Mayweather? i can see it happening if Garcia defeats the likes of a Guerrero, Maidana, or Soto Karass and i’m confident that if that’s the path that unfolds before Garcia, Danny will confidently march in and why not? he’s looking too tough to beat these days.

Old Yank…Garcia disappointed me by holding and grabbing. That’s why Matthysse couldn’t clobber to the body. Garcia was on the move a lot and when they hit the ropes he clinched. That fight was another bore. If not for that clash of heads that caused the swelling over Matthysse’s eye, this might have been a different fight. Kudos to Garcia for a tough chin. He took a great punch

Posted September 15, 2013 1:13 pm

Old Yank

I love dog bets and did not want to touch Garcia with a 10 foot pole. I absolutely saw a young man with quality skills, but simply did not see any individual skill as master-class. In a scale of 1-5 I had the upset meter at closer to ZERO than 1.

Not only did Danny fight a beautiful fight, perhaps he was assisted a tad by Matthysse fighting a one-dimensional fight. Where was his jab? Where was his typical body work? He was swinging for the fence with one shot at a time. Matthysse could not spell c-o-m-b-i-n-a-t-i-o-n if the fight depended on it — and it did and he lost.

My bet is that when Matthysse looks at the video tape he’s going to feel really, really stupid. He fought a bad fight.

OR, Danny deserves a lot more credit than this. Perhaps he does, but I still do not see master-class written on any individual part of Danny’s game. I do see very few deficiencies and a damn lot of stuff that just seems to come together the right way at the right time. And maybe I’m just not giving him enough credit for finding the “it” factor in bout after bout.

Garcia has my respect he’s a hungry fighter
and his Philly bloodline shows in the ring… Anytime he’s had tough moments Khan, Judah or Matthysee he responded… I had Lucas slated for a KO but Garcias chin was more than up to the task…

Posted September 15, 2013 12:35 pm

Quemero

It was a very close fight. I had no problem giving Matthysse the 2,5,6,7,10 and 12 rounds. He landed plenty of flush shots on Danny, and the fact that Danny was able to absorb them doesn’t meant that Lcuas did not win those rounds. Weeks warned Danny on low blows on the 2,3,5 rounds without deducting a point, which he did in the 12, after the damage was done. Poor refereeing. As for the KO I think it was a good call by Weeks though Lucas was tangled in the ropes and caught a couple of punches. I don;t think Lucas was hurt. In fact, i think he was winning the 11th (blowing Danny’s mouth piece with a massive right).

Considering that Lucas fought this fight on one eye I don;;t have a problem seeing a rematch. I think the great Lucas and the fus deserve it.

i had a matthysse k.o of garcia…. great match. garcia’s grit surprised me… mathyse’s balls are huge the way he kept coming forward even with just one eye for half the fight. i wasnt a garcia fan before, I am now.

Danny Garcia fought a beautiful fight! He had it all working. Lucas Matthysse left half his tools in Argentina and appeared to have slipped several notches in ring IQ.

Posted September 15, 2013 12:10 pm

No one can argue that Garcia is the man to beat at 140lbs anymore..according to Danny he’s moving up to 147lbs next, nothing more to see at 140lbs..

I picked Garcia to win via KO, but I’ll take the win! I knew Garcia had better hands, he throws in combination as where Matthysse does NOT, that was the major difference, Matthysse was a bit gun shy once he saw Garcia can box, I can’t wait to see Garcia again! The kid is DAMN GOOD!!!!

I had Matthysse by KO but glad I got it wrong. Garcia got a nice chin on him

Cognitor

i was totally wrong about Danny Garcia. His dad will be the most sought after trainer soon enough and his rants are no longer going to be seen as idle rants by the media any longer. I think his dad will probably change because of it due to most of his anger was from the lack of respect the media has been giving him for years but that will be all changed and so will Senior. Lucas is good but the name as the machine was for marketing purposes. I don’t think they’ll continue with that nick name. As for Mayweather, he is the epitome of the pure boxer and like him or not, he is the best over the last 15 years. I still believe the man who will beat him will be a stronger version of Jose Luis Costello and the term i have used for years to beat Mayweather is you have to “UFC” Mayweather and take the penalties but that is the only way to beat Mayweather until the man passes 40 years old. Now was it worth $75 ?

Garcia is better than I thought, I was thinking Matthysee would drop him but his chin was up to the task… A very good win for Swift he surprised me against the very game Matthysee..

Like I mentioned many times before the fight, the only chance Matthysse had was to ko Danny early. Most everyone believed Mattheysse would walk through Danny, mainly becuase of the way Matthysse dispatched Peterson. But, as opposed to Peterson, Danny has power and that made for Matthysse to quickly change plans or risk being ko early.

Way to go Danny.

Danny’s the man at 140, even more so after that, that kid can stay in the pocket of a ferocious puncher and land flush clean counters, excellent boxing, skill over power.

Posted September 15, 2013 7:49 am

Danny just like I said,Swift had the discipline to keep the fight mid-range and keep to a game plan, something Matthyesse didn’t seem to have.
