Bear

Just goes to show you how much they need to get rid of the bad judges scoring a fight . I guess he won on his fathers name.

You never know. Vera may have more losses on his record than your average champ, but his win over Dzinziruk was something to talk about. I think it was very smart of Shields to get the fight reduced to 10 rounds. It won’t necessarily give Vera the edge, but it will level the playing field a bit. Vera is NOT going to stop Chavez, so his only hope is to beat him on points. He can outwork Chavez. But can he sustain Chavez’s power? In any case, I agree with Brian–Chavez’s team has underestimated him. In fact I can’t see that they have given him any respect at all. Jr. will look to walk through him. Maybe Vera will have enough power to discourage him.

does anyone know how much extra vera got , and i could not fully understand why shields changed it to 10 if julio is really out of shape, other than same money for shorter fight…….

Chavez just made weight at 172.4 pounds

Vera weighed in at 171.2 pounds

Man Jr. seems to get every break doesn’t he? I think he’ll be too big for Vera, and it seems like he and his Dad, seem to think the only way for Chavez to win is if he has a huge size advantage over everyone he fights. What’s going to happen when he starts fighting at 175, where he apparently belongs?

Come on Vera!
The cards are stacked high against him, but nothing would make me happier than Bryan shocking the world here.

Luke,

Just got off the phone with Ronnie, and he said that Vera is the most confident he’s ever seen him. The training camp, the gameplan, the conditioning…Bryan genuinely believes that he will shock the world on HBO tomorrow night!!

let’s see what happens!!

Public Enemy,

that poor Mexican kid was none other than current IBF Junior Middleweight Champion “King” Carlos Molina!!

It’s funny how things work out in the world of boxing, ‘eh?

Even Mexicans are turning on Chavez Sr and Jr. I remember that fight in Mexico where Junior was gifted the win vs some poor Mexican kid and the Mexican Crowd was so furious that they started Pelting Sr and Jr. with Beer Bottles.. too bad there isn’t a Video of it.. would’ve been hilarious…

Go vera i hope you pull the upset. I will rather see jr retire from getting defeated by a 2nd tier opponent than an elite one.

Fight Aficionado

LOL the dudes are even concerned Jr won’t be able to make this adjusted 173 lb weight limit. Don’t worry, if he’s overweight the fight will go on. He’d just have to pay Vera some money. That’s what HBO and Broner did.

Public Enemy: “Vera looked over trained and small in those photos he will have the same end result as Rubio.. he will have moments where he is easily out boxing Cheato Jr. but eventually over the course of the fight he will tire from having Cheato Jr. put his LHW body all over him all night long.. Rubio said what was the deciding factor in the fight and he clearly answered ‘His size, he was just too big'”

This is why Ronnie had the foresight to make this a ten round fight instead of twelve.

The odds are certainly stacked here. Vera throws double the average punches of Chaves. Therefore if fat boy Chaves gasses out early he might get outpointed. Still, Vera’s chances are slim.

THE REAL AMERICAN OAK

Arum and Chavez are a disgrace. Bringing a JM into a Light heavy fight. CHEATER.
